  1. Review: Incredible job in going in depth the the player’s relationships in his family and friends that makes him sound very relatable in a lot of aspects to the reader. I feel like the “Whistler” knew he was going to be a hockey player at that age given he already looks the part haha also good use of photos however I would like to see Micha in his current state prepping for the draft! Well written and looking forward in reading more of your stuff!
  2. Review: Cool to see a Frölunda reference in there and glad to hear that the helmet eventually made its way on his head when he started comparing himself to his heroes. The addition of the many stats presented gives a great picture of the growth of his “love of the game”. Well written and I hope to hear more about him. Would also love to see another picture of him finishing his time in the SHL or prepping for the VHLM!
  3. For my second image, I was going for almost more of a hockey player card. I’m currently away on vacation so I did this image on my phone using mobile photoshop so please let me know how it looks on a desktop!
  4. 1. Where are you and what are you doing? I am currently wrapping up my vacation in Maine visiting distant relatives before heading back to Halifax. 2. Who is your favorite fictional hero? The true Italian Stallion, Sylvester Stallone playing Rocky. He’s like an honorary hometown hero in Italy. 3. What is your greatest fear? The fear of injury and not being able to play or get ice time thanks to recovery 4. Tell us a secret about yourself? Although I like to carry myself as a full fledged adult at the age of 18, I’m still a huge Mama’s boy. 6. What is your worst trait? I’m incredibly hard on myself and I hold myself to an almost impossible standards as a player on and off the ice that would drive many people to insanity. 7. What's the best meal you ever had? There’s nothing in the world that could compare to Mama Mia’s spaghetti and meatballs back in Potenza, Italy.
  5. Luciano Valentino Position: Defenseman Age: 18 Height: 6'3'' Weight: 217 LBS Hometown: Potenza, Italy Handedness: Right Early Childhood Luciano Valentino was born in the southern foothills of Italy in the small town of Potenza. His father, Luigi, owned the local radio station, ITL90.7 with his main broadcast being on Italian sports. Luciano's mother, Daisy, owned and worked as the head chef the local family restaurant, Valentino's serving authentic Italian dishes. Luciano would listen to his Luigi's sports broadcasts while helping Daisy run the kitchen at the restaurant. Holding a broom in one hand and dangling a stale roll across the kitchen tiles, Luciano loved imitating the hockey games his father would cover. He was entranced by the speed and agility that his countrymen Michele Strazzabosco and Gaetano Orlando had on the ice. His father's voice would boom when there was a big play happening, filling the young Luciano with adrenaline and big dreams. Lucanio Valentino's hometown of Potenza, Italy Growing Pains Luciano knew that ice hockey was not a popular sport in Italy but it was Luigi's love of the sport that inspired him. He wasn't a stellar student and didn't take schooling as serious as others but he did succeded enough to make his parent's proud so that he may spend more time in the rink. Daisy never truly understood the sport and always wanted him to take over the family restaurant when he's old enough. However, it wasn't until she received a phone call from Luciano's principal informing that her son had been missing class in the past few days. That very night, a cheerful Luciano came home to two upset parents asking him where he was. Luciano confessed, "Mama mia, Mi dispiace! I just wanted to skate and practice at the rink by myself and get away from my classmates. They think my love for hockey is pointless and think I'm going to be a chef my entire life." He broke out in tears on his hockey bag but his parents looked at each other and comforted him. "If it weren't for your father's crazy obsession with the sport, I know this wouldn't happen," Daisy started. "But I know how much you love being on the ice and playing your heart out, I can't think of a time you smiled as hard as your first time on skates," she continued. With a long sigh and a subtle eye roll, she admitted, "Your father has been talking about a private school that has the greatest hockey program in the country. Your father and I have already spoken about it and I'm convinced you should be happy doing what you love amore mio." Luciano's tears of sadness turned to joy, He couldn't believe what he just heard. Luigi picked up his son giving him a big hug, " My Luciano is going to be a hockey player dammit!" he cheered. Daisy came from behind and embraced the two, "That's good cause hopefully you'll be a better hockey player than a chef." Lucanio Valentino as a Freshman at Massimiliano Massimo private school New School, New Me Getting more accustomed to the classes and the idea of living at the school, Luciano flourished in his new environment. He actually took care in his coursework knowing that his parents have spent nickel and dime on him being there in the first place however he took even greater care out on the rink. On the day of try-outs, while his classmates were shaking in their skates, Luciano felt confident that all of his practice would pay off. He excelled in every drill. His puck handling, his passing, and his overall skating skill and speed were unlike anything the coaches had ever seen. During the scrimmages, he put his skills on display making fast plays look effortless and leaving his fellow teammates that were on the bench in awe. Thus encouraging them to play harder and faster. Yet, Luciano had not displayed his true calling of shutting down his opponent in the defensive zone. Using his size and speed, he was able to disrupt any opportunities created by his opponents while on the penalty kill, covering two or even three players at a time. To no one's surprise, Luciano was selected to the team and he was in pure bliss knowing that his dream is starting to come true. After informing his parents about his achievement, they couldn't have been more proud. They attended his first game and saw the dramatic shift in Luciano's overall persona. His skills were improved, he was focused and in his true environment. Luciano ended his first game with two goals, five assists, and four blocked shots. "That's my boy out there," Luigi telling the other parents with great pride. Luciano reunited with his parents after the game to tell them all about his experiences and new friends he's made since started class. As the years progressed, so did Luciano's game as well. By the time he was a junior, he had already shattered major school records such as most blocked shots and most assists in a single game. When he wasn't in class, he was known for hitting the gym to match his height with strength. With the 6'3" 217-pound defenseman entering his senior year, he knew that this was his final shot at making a name for himself on an international level. His dream was so close he could almost feel himself putting on a VHLM jersey one day. He started the season with a hattrick, three assists and taking five blocked shots to help his goalie secure a shut out. He took out a lot of his anger from his childhood bullies on his opponents by shutting them down, hitting them and sometimes chirping at them. By the time of graduation, Lucanio secured the records of most all-time points by a defenseman and most hattricks. Luciano at his final game his graduation year. The Draft "Do you think they'll really notice me all the way in North America?", Luciano asked his parents while glued to the television set of the VHLM draft. His father put his arm around him, "If they don't then they're blinder than a bat in a cave at midnight." Luciano started to have negative thoughts such as "what if I really do end up being a chef all my life because I'm just not good enough?" He frowned and let out a soft sigh until his mother put her hand on his face, "My child, you know I would never let you end up doing something you don't enjoy. Whatever happens tonight, I will still support you and your dream," she assured. Lucanio smiled and sat in between the two to watch the draft start. Pick after pick, round after round, names were being called up from a lot of different places but not his. Anxious, Luciano left the couch to grab more vino to unwind from all the built-up stress until he heard a loud scream from both his parents that caused him to drop the bottle. "What's wrong? What happened?" Luciano asked. "Looks like they're not so blind after my boy!" his dad exclaimed pointing at the television stating his name. Luciano Valentino selected 53rd Overall by the Halifax 21st. Overwhelmed and overtired from staying up so late, Luciano embraced both his parents for all the love and support in fulfilling his lifelong dream in an opportunity to play hockey professionally from an unlikely place. A wild Luciano Valentino is his natural habitat
  6. Luciano Valentino could not contain his excitement in being selected 53rd Overall in the VHLM Draft held this past Tuesday. "Mama mia! I can't thank the Owner and General Manager of the Halifax 21st on believing in me and I can't wait to add to an already great team!" cheered Valentino in a phone interview with a Halifax 21st representative on the day of the draft. Valentino was home in Potenza, Italy at the time of the Draft surrounded by his biggest supporters, his family. The Italian Defenseman celebrated his drafting by hitting the gym in preparation for the training that awaits him in Halifax. Ice hockey isn't exactly Italy's strongest sport in the country but Valentino wants to help popularize it. "I grew up looking up to countrymen like Michele Strazzabosco and Gaetano Orlando that flourished in the leagues here but struggled when they went overseas. I want to adapt my game well enough so that I may not follow the same fate.", Valentino asserted which is a tall order for a young player getting drafted. The following day, Valentino was taken by his to Bari, Italy to catch a 14-hour flight to Halifax. Valentino wanted to sleep on the flight but couldn't hide his overwhelming enthusiasm in meeting the team, experiencing the locker room and finally have his dream of a professional hockey career beginning.

  8. Review: Besides the formatting, The story itself is a very interesting read. The portion on the missing father and then another trying to take his place yet has the player's support is quite a conundrum. The formatting for the conversation of the skates was pretty unique, looks like it's straight out of a short story haha But pictures would be a great addition to this and glad to see that Frans' father's memory will live on even if his mother chooses to move on. Well done!
  9. Review: I understand that the formatting is different than many but it makes the whole story feel almost like a long yet flowing poem filled with success, tragedy, and redemption. The addition of the black and white picture definitely compliments the underlying tone of the bio. Overall, I really enjoyed reading it and can't help but catch some real feels in the ending. Well written!
  10. Review: Really cool take on the backstory of the Father and making it more of an inspiration for the player to succeed in the game. It would be pretty cool to have a picture of said scuffle but the detail and quotes provided gave a pretty colorful picture of the whole ordeal. Overall, the bio is pretty written with a lot of relatable aspects and I look forward to reading more!
  11. Review: Pretty neat take on his background, He could probably be the next Billy Joel if he wanted to. The quotes regarding his family, friends and college life adds a nice personal touch to the bio and the history of injuries and let downs of his freshman year makes him sounds more human than some other bios I've seen. My only critique is just adding another picture of say when he was playing in college or working out to get to put on that weight you were saying from his training or even him playing the piano. Overall, well written and look forward to reading more on him!
  12. I appreciate the critique and totally understand what you're saying. It's my first time messing and creating images but I want to take your input and run with it. The fonts were more difficult to choose than I thought haha but you're right, I should kind of fit with one theme. As for the rainbow, That was just kind of came with the light effect. I didn't really see it until you pointed it out haha so I 'll definitely have to make some edits. Thank you!
  13. First time editing a photo, got a lot of cool inspirations from other signatures. Any suggestions, tips, or feedback are welcome!
  14. 1. What do you think about getting your careers started with the 21st? I couldn't have asked for a better team to give me an opportunity to develop my skills and help the team succeed. 2. Any opinions on teams at the VHL level that you may want to play for? If you don't know any, thats totally fine. Personally, I'm still feeling out how the VHL system runs being so new but I am just grateful to be trusted to play at this level currently with many higher aspirations in mind in the future. 5. Favorite NHL hockey team? San Jose Sharks 8. Are you staying down in the VHLM a season or going straight up? Seeing how this is my first season here in North America, I believe it would be appropriate for me to continue strengthening my skills as well as my weaknesses in the VHLM to help better equip myself for a shot at the VHL in the future. 9. What was cool to do when you were a kid but not as a "grown up"? Wearing light-up shoes... Sometimes I still think it's cool but my girlfriend thinks otherwise. 10. What genre of music do you enjoy listening to? Coming where I'm from, Classic electronic music is what I enjoy. There aren't many modern artists I can get myself to listen to.
  15. Name: Luciano Valentino Position: Defenseman Age: 18 Height: 6'3'' Weight: 217 LBS Hometown: Potenza, Italy Handedness: Right Luciano Valentino was born and raised in Potenza, Italy and took up hockey as his passion at a young age. 6'3" Italian Defenseman devoted much of his childhood in the rink sometimes even skipping class to meet his friends there and coming home to some angry parents. After a stern talking to, Valentino's parents understood Luciano's love of the sport and supported him financially enrolling him into development camps and eventually minor league teams across the country. With his passion supported by his family, Valentino is looking develop into one of the most dynamic defensemen given the opportunity in the VHLM. Pros: 1. Defense Naturally defensive-minded, Valentino has shown in the Italian minor leagues that he is more than capable in keeping pace with his opponent and takes pride in his craft. Knowing that he's a big boy, he is very comfortable in using his size and positioning to gain the upper hand in the defensive zone whether it's 5-on-5 and especially on penalty kills. He also shows no shame using that body of his to block shots game after game without relenting. 2. Puck handling Valentino's love for stripping the puck from his opponents spilled into his love for playing keep away from them as well. Valentino led the Italian U-18 league in takeaways also resulting in the best takeaway/giveaway ratio. His stickhandling skill is much more developed than the average player his age and can dangle his way through the forecheck and into the offensive zone with ease. With some more development, Valentino can most definitely see himself as a powerplay playmaker. 3. Skating Paired with his defensive prowess and skills with the puck, Valentino's slick skating both forward and backward makes his reaction times and position incredibly versatile. The speed he can build up to makes him look like a Ferrari on ice beating his opponents on breakaways and covering his defensive pair. Coupled with his size and weight, his opponents have to keep their head on a swivel or else they get trampled by an Italian Stallion. . Cons: 1. Discipline Although Valentino may have a limitless ceiling, he lacks the guidance of a great coach that would help him gain more maturity and patience on the ice. Valentino loves to be in his opponent's face and can be labeled as a hot head causing him to lose his demeanor and take some poor penalties costing his team opportunities. Valentino is known for defending his antics in saying that his emotions are what fuel him in games however the argument can be made both ways. 2. Leadership Valentino may have led the way in records in his Italian league however it is because of his attitude and maturity that cost him leadership positions within the locker room. As he continues to develop into the player he'd strive to be with age, Scouts believe that the maturity will come in time becoming more of a role model for similar players on and off the ice. 3. Faceoffs As a defenceman, Valentino had no desire to develop his skill in faceoffs because as he's said in an interview with a smirk, "That's not my job". Overall Valentino is a hidden gem in Italy where the talent of his kind is an anomaly. His skills as a young, versatile defenceman can most definitely develop to an elite status that will benefit any VHLM team that drafts him. As said before, his maturity level and hot temper will most likely follow suit with age.
