Jubis reacted to Elmebeck in 20 Years of Notable Saskatoon Players
I have to admit this is not a very planned update, I already had a subject for this week, then the theme week was announced. So I apologize for the brevity, but maybe someone that is tagged will get something from it, and please tag people in comments that I haven't been able to find as members.

    Two points per game
    S57 Phil Bennington 72 GP, 70G, 104A, 174P @Phil
    S58 Kirk Lazarus 72 GP, 81G, 81A, 162P @RadiatedGold
    S57 Kriztof Mueller 72GP, 73G, 86A, 159P
    S58 Shelton Kenzie 72GP, 54G, 103A, 157P @Dingle
    S60 Bryce Zhields 72GP, 69G, 80A, 149P

It's hard to overstate how impressive a two points per game performance is, with Bennington up at 2.4 points per game. Certainly the game was different back then, but the performance is still one of magnitude.

    The GM
    Rylan Peace 72GP, 46G, 45A, 91P @Peace
That's right in S63 Rylan Peace, the current GM of Saskatoon Wild, led the team in goals and points. The team came second in the league and then proceeded with a great playoff run that ended with sweeping Ottawa Lynx in the finals; Peace producing 7 goals and 10 points in 11 games.

    Most games played
    S60-63 Jordan Tonn 288GP, 43G, 60A, 103P
    S63-66 Kip Baier   288GP, 24G, 40A, 64P @Kip Baier

This pair is interesting. Spent four seasons down each, with quite moderate success, but presumably with a calming locker room presence.
When contacted about his time in Saskatoon, Jordan Tonn @MexicanCow said, "What? I was never there. Either you got your facts wrong or we have an imposter."

We're going to investigate Baier closer, it would somehow be comforting to have one player who stayed down for that long (we may have one below though).

    Longest name, and a legacy
    S52 Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVII 72GP 7G 35A 42P @.sniffuM?
    S55-57 Aeschylus Jigglejawns CXXXVIII 222GP 66G 130A 196P
What the significance CXXXVIII has, being 138 converted from Roman numerals, is unknown. But in total also has spent 288 games with the Wild over two players.

    Best defenders
    S56 Keaton Louth 72 38 81 119 @Beaviss
    S47 Felipe Rodriguez 72 39 78 117
    S57 Emil Martinov 72 28 89 117

I tríed to look up if these players were still active, but the search function is... not functioning at this time. But if anyone knows who they are, please tag them below.
Anyway, 100 points or more, in VHLM basically your first season, as a defender - yes, sure another sim engine back then possibly, but still - that's impressive.

    Best team since S47
Take a look above, how many S57 greats aren't there? That team had seven players at over one point per game, but still managed to lose to Ottawa Lynx in the semi-finals. Clearly one of the great teams in VHLM that almost immediately got lost to VHL.
The S58 crew were not bad either, but also failed to win in the end.

    The future
Saskatoon now sits on a really good core, three 1st round picks, excíting trades and is destined to do well next season. Also, more stable with the 250 TPE change. The sun is rising over rural Canada!

I apologize for this being so vapid, I would have like to track each player's path over their career, but the player search function has not been kind to me. Maybe for another time.

Jubis reacted to Seabass in Seabass Perrin's Rookie Profile [2/2]
    Seabass Perrin's Rookie Profile

Seabass Perrin was drafted in the 2nd round, 17th overall in this years VHL Entry Draft by the Prague Phantoms and many considered this a reach selection. Even though Perrin was only but 19 at the time he already had a man's body being 6 foot 3 and weighing 220lbs, the guy was just built like a brick shit house from day 1.

Most Draft analysts had Perrin going around 20-21st overall as many predicted that either Calgary or Riga would select him with those picks. Calgary was rumoured to be interested in the player due to Perrin being a hometown hero being from the city of Calgary himself. Hell even his grandfather Sebastien Perrin spent time playing for the Wranglers. However as Perrin disclosed after the draft in a interview that he was dissapointed that his childhood team, the Wrangler's never spoke to him once or scouted him at all. Also mentioned in the same interview was that the Riga Reign did in fact scout Perrin prior to the draft and were interested in drafting him like the Stockholm Rams/Riga Reign did back in s7 with his grandfather, Sebastien.  However the Prague Phantoms reached for him with the 17th overall pick and Perrin has been happy with that team ever since he got to join former Yukon Rush team mates Wolf Stansson Jr., Willie Dredge and Erik Draven.

In his draft year Perrin had quite the slow start getting into the double digit minuses and not recording a single point in his first few games with the Yukon Rush. But as the season went on the guy just seemed getting better and better and by the end of the season Perrin was a regular contributor for the team. He finished the year off with 14 goals and 46 points and being a even 0 in the plus minus catagory. He recorded 138 hits and 66 blocked shots. His 14 goals gave him a shooting percentage of 13.5% which is unbelievable for a defenseman and 12 of those goals came on the powerplay. Even with all that being said we believe Perrin to make his mark in the VHL as more of a defensive shutdown defenseman.

At the beginning of Season 68 after training camp, Perrin who had played all year on the Rush's 2nd defensive pairing last year was announced as Wolf Stansson Jr.'s partner on the Phantom's first defensive pairing. The 2nd pairing VHLMer had jumped over and was now a 1st pairing VHLer all of a sudden, now how often do you end up seeing that happen? Well it seems to have been a solid choice so far as Perrin hasn't looked that out of place. He has currently 11 goals and 33 points in 59 games with a plus/minus of -17 which is not bad considering he's playing for a expansion team in their inaugural season. He has also recorded 146 hits and a team leading 178 blocked shots.

    Pros

Physicality: Perrin plays a physical brand of hockey. He has gotten over a 100 hits in each of his 2 seasons playing hockey. He uses his size effectively to protect the high scoring areas in front of the net and keeps opposing bodies out of the blue paint.

Puck Handling: Perrin uses his size effectively to protect the puck while he controls it and is very hard to knock off the puck. Once he has the puck it's very hard to get it away from him as he also has a decent set of hands and skill to be able to stickhandle his way out of dangerous situations.

Skating: For being such a big man Perrin has constantly been improving himself on his skates. He entered the VHLM as a very slow skater and he worked on it a lot with the coaches in the Yukon and his offseason power skating coaches. With all the work he's been putting into his skating it's now gone from a con to a pro as now he's able to to pinch in offensively and quickly skate back into position in time for a opposing rush.

    Cons

Discipline: Perrin takes a boat load of stupid penalties over the course of the season as we've seen this year in Prague. These penalties have often costed his teams games and it's not even penalties due to his physicality sometimes like boarding penalties, charging, elbows. Its been stupid penalties like Holding, Roughing and tripping that Perrin has been prone for.

Passing: Perrin isn't the greatest passer. He can't seem to be able to make a half decent saucer pass and he doesn't have enough creativity to really set up his teammates with easy goals. Most of his assists are rebounds off his shots so that let those numbers fool you. He's good only for the first pass breakout pass but that's about it.

Off Ice Issues: Perrin has already lost his license due to a past DUI he suffered while playing for the Yukon Rush in S67 and he's more recently been featured in a viral video doing a kegstand in a team Canada Jersey in a nightclub in Toronto. Overall it seems Perrin has problems with both drugs and alcohol and that just might hinder his development or eventually get him kicked off a important team flight.

    1. Solid improvents have taken place. We should win a lot more games next season.  2.  I am confident with our current roster. No one stands out to me at the moment.  3. After looking at stats i believe @PotatoKing has got it. Either one of these players could be playoff mvp"s.  4.  I pick Las Vegas 5. Moscow 6.  Las Vegas now that I said they'll win.  7.  I struggled to get my production going.  5 goals in my first 42 games played. I have now turned it up and have scored 12 goals in my last 15 games played.  Really hoping to finish this season strong. Next season you'll see me in the 40+ goal range. 8.  Playoffs. I want to make the playoffs.  9. Yes!!! They are a rival of ours.  10.  I think a lottery would be a bad idea.

    1. In my opinion it was both. A few games we were outplayed heavily but other games it was a bounce the wrong way or no puck luck on our side resulting in a loss.  2. Beef Jerky! It's high protein low fat.  Saskatoon has some of the best. 3.  I like the changes. The tasks are broken up which makes it seem less overwhelming. 4. I am happy with my ice time. Especially with my production picking up. Lucky to have 3 goals 1 assists in our last 2 games.  5. Not yet but i am searching for one on a nightly basis hehe. 6. I think the VHL will have a few blockbuster trades.

(1.) It would be something I would entertain but would be happy either way. (2.) Disturbed -Down with the sickness. (3.) Jokinen. He is our quarterback on the back end.  His passes are things of beauty. (4.)  What did you have for breakfast on your last gameday?  Lol (5.)  I believe we are going to continue to improve and grow. Its exciting.  (6.) I thinks it's good. Players will have a chance to be properly VHL ready before making the jump.

RJ Jubis on struggling to score a goal.  Funny thing is he scored in game 17. Right after I finished this.

    1. My GM's have been very helpful. I like creating graphics. Working on my 2nd one now.  2. Welfare. Ok only joking. I like graphics. 3. I need to evenly spread out my attributes. My scoring is high but no goals to show for it. 4.  Die hard bruins fan. Cheer for no one else. 5. Sorry I have not. 6. I really enjoy the whole stats portion. Seeing game results. Some tpa tasks are a lot of work lol.

    1. The Saskatoon locker room has been amazing. Earning our first victory as a group was a great experience. No changes are needed this is a big step up from the Midget AAA league I played in previously.                                                      2. I've held my current position since I was 8 years old.  It's all i know.                  3. Under Armour or Adidas would be cool.                                                                4. I think we have done well so far 5 games in. We've beat some teams that were supposed to beat us. I personally plan to contribute  more offensively moving forward.                                           5. Maybe Halifax they are my hometown team.                                           6. Hard to bet against Jokinen. He is on a tear through these first 5 games.

I appreciate all the great offers from all the GM's. My decision was made based on a sense of loyalty to Saskatoon Wild. They were the first team to reach out and my instincts say its the right fit.

    1.  I have tunnel vision and can only see Saskatoon lifting the cup.
    2.  The fans! They are so welcoming.
    3. Anything by AcDc.
    4. Maybe a polar bear showing lots of teeth.
    5. I hope to solidify myself as a sniper who doesn't shy away from the physical side of the game.
    6. A leader willing to do whatever in takes to help the team.
