Ricer13 got a reaction from AJW in TPE & Point Tasks Tutorial
    Welcome to the VHL!

When you first join the VHL it can be very confusing for members as they try and navigate their way through trying to figure out how to do point tasks, what each point task is and how you go about claiming them. There are other tutorials in here that are extremely helpful but I still find myself explaining it all anyways to new members as they come into the league. I am going to break down the point task system as I would to any new recruit and below each task I will write a step by step instruction on how to claim them. I will be using this in my locker room to help new members and I hope it gets spread across the league to help many others as well.

What is TPE/TPA? How do we earn TPE?

TPE stands for "Total Points Earned" and TPA stands for "Total Points Applied." TPE is commonly used to refer to the experience points you earn for your player and TPA is the points you have actually applied to your player. To collect TPE in this league you must complete tasks every week referred to as "Point Tasks." Each week you are allowed to earn 12 capped TPE and unlimited uncapped TPE.

    Point Tasks

There are a number of point tasks you can do each week. There are your main point tasks which you can choose one of and then there are supplemental point tasks you can do to fill out your remaining capped TPE for the week. I will start by writing out the main points first. These point tasks are worth 6 TPE with the exception of welfare of course. You may only claim ONE main task per week. You can not do two media spots or two graphics to get 12 TPE.

Media Spots: Media Spots are 500 word articles about anything related to the VHL. 500 words isn't the capped amount of words. You can write 2000 or more words if you so choose and this will allow you to actually claim 6 TPE for the next four weeks. It breaks down like this:

    500 words: Claim 1 week
    1000 words: Claim 2 weeks
    1500 words: Claim 3 weeks
    2000 words: Claim 4 weeks

You can only claim up to four weeks for one article and you have to claim it once per week not all at once. Media Spots being 500 words can be intimidating for new members so I always suggest doing interviews to get a feel for it. You can ask a player or GM questions and use their answers as part of your word count. Just a little tip to help out any beginners looking to write media spots!

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the article > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Media Spot > Paste your link > Submit

Graphics/Videos: Graphics must be league related such as a player card or team graphic. They must have a good amount of effort put into them with layers. It has to be seen that if even if you are a beginner that you actually put the effort in. Videos have to be a minimum of 30 seconds long and must include music, transitions or graphic to show you put effort into making the video your own. Completing either of these will net you 6 TPE.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the graphic > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Graphics > Paste your link > Submit

Podcasts: Podcasts also must be league related and be 15 minutes in length to claim 6 TPE. Like Media Spots you can multiweek claim for podcasts and it breaks down like this:

    15 minutes: Claim 1 week
    30 minutes: Claim 2 weeks
    45 minutes: Claim 3 weeks
    60 minutes: Claim 4 weeks

You can only claim up to four weeks per podcast and you are allowed to have multiple people claim on the same podcast but an example of that would be if two people were to do a podcast together they would both have to complete 15 minutes EACH for a total of 30 minutes to get 6 TPE for one week.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the podcast > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Podcast > Paste your link > Submit

Welfare: For those members who do not want to put in the work or just don't have the time to there is always the option of welfare. Welfare is just a button you click on the player update page that you click each week. It will give you 4 TPE but the downside is it now drops your weekly capped total to 10 TPE. This may not seem like a lot but over time this really does add up.

Affiliate TPE: For members who come to the VHL from our affiliate leagues such as the EFL and SBA, you can claim your tasks that you have done already in that league. So if you wrote a media spot in the EFL you may also claim that in the VHL as Affiliate TPE for the amount of 6 TPE. This is a great way to encourage members from other leagues to be just as active in this one!

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the Affiliate task > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Affiliate PT > Paste your link > Submit

    Supplemental Point Tasks

Once you have completed your main task for the week you need to complete supplemental tasks in order to get to that 12 capped TPE limit for the week. There are plenty of ways to do this and I will break down a list and also how to claim them. An important note is that you can only complete one of each type of task per week. You can do as many press conferences as you want for example but you can only claim one per week.

Press Conferences: This is by far one of the easiest tasks you can complete. There are also two different ways of doing it. Each week your GM or AGM will write up six questions for you to answer. You just have to answer all 6 questions with a sentence or two and that's it. Doing this will take you a couple minutes and it earns you 2 TPE. You can also submit six press conference questions yourself for people to answer and the result is the same.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to your answers > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Press Conference > Paste your link > Submit

    Trivia: *UPDATED Feb/7/2022*
Trivia has recently been revamped and is now found on the portal. If you go to www.VHLportal.com, go to the menu and then click “league” to open a drop down menu. This is where you’ll find the trivia menu. Click on that to go the trivia section where there will now be randomly generated trivia questions. Click on the option to generate a question. Once the question is generated you will have to search through the forum/portal to figure out the answer. Please don’t hesitate to ask your GMs to help navigate you through the site to find the answers more easily. This will also help you familiarize yourself with where everything is found on the forums.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Once you have correctly answered your question, on the same page a “claim” button will appear and once you click that it’ll automatically apply your 1 TPE for that question. Remember there is a limit of 2 TPE for trivia each week.

    Game Recaps: *UPDATED Feb/7/2022*
Every day sim results are posted in a thread. You may choose a game and do a break down of that game with a minimum of 75 words. You may do up to TWO recaps a week and for each recap you do, you are allowed to claim ONE TPE for. This allows for a maximum of TWO TPE a week for this task. A few rules to note: A member cannot recap a game that their player played in or if they are a GM of one of the teams playing. For more information check out the link below.

VHL.com Article: This article is a small 150 word article that is to be anything related to the VHL. Completing this will earn you 2 TPE. This is quick and easy to complete for even members who aren't into writing.

Reviewing: Reviewing has gotten a lot easier since I have joined. It is quite easy to do and is a good filler for weeks when we do not have trivia. You simply read someone's media spot or look over their graphic and then comment with a review that is 3 of 4 sentences on what you think of their work. Then add a rating out of 10 and you're done. You link your comment when claiming the TPE for it. Reviews earn you 1 TPE and you can do two a week for a maximum of 2 TPE.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the review > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Week ending: current week > Type: Reviewing > Paste your link > Submit

    Fantasy Zone

The Fantasy Zone is a place where you can earn uncapped TPE by playing fantasy games in the VHL. Guessing weekly scores and creating your best VHL team similar to actual fantasy hockey. These are great opportunities to try your luck and win out some extra TPE.

Fantasy Zone: Every week during the season you are asked about certain matchups in the VHL, VHLE, and VHLM. Your job is to correctly guess which teams are going to win those matchups. There is also a bonus section where you get to guess the score of a game or who's going to lead certain statistical categories and if you correctly guess them right you get additional bonus TPE. Correctly guessing the winners of the matchups and bonus questions get you up to 4 uncapped TPE. If you guess the scores correctly you will be tagged in a post and that post is what you link in order to claim the TPE.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the tagged post > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Fantasy > Week ending: current week > Type: VHL Fantasy Zone > Paste your link > Submit

VHFL: The Victory Hockey Fantasy League is similar to NHL fantasy leagues. You are put in a group of six teams and you take turns selecting VHL players to assemble a roster. Over the season as they accumulate goals, assists, hits, etc. your team increases in points. The fun part is everyone gets TPE no matter the results but the better you do the more TPE you get. The top team earns 6 TPE and it goes down by one from there. Second place would earn 5 TPE and so on. At the end of the season you will be tagged in a post once the results are in and you use that to claim your TPE.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the tagged post > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Fantasy > Week ending: current week > Type: VHFL > Paste your link > Submit

    Miscellaneous TPE

There are a few bonuses that you get throughout you career that reward you for your hard work. Once you hit that glorious triple digits in TPE you get rewarded and when you make that jump up into the pros. These rewards feel good and a nice little boost when  you're itching for some extra TPE.

First Generation Bonus: For first time players there is a bonus 10 TPE that they receive for hitting the 100 TPE mark. It rewards new members for there hard work at the beginning of their career and helps them become more competitive in the VHLM. There is a First-Generation Bonus thread that most GM's will find for you and all you do is comment in that thread "+10" That comment is what you will need to copy the link for in order to claim your TPE.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Other > Week ending: current week > Type: First Gen Bonus > Paste your link > Submit

Graduation Bonus: Once you move up to the VHL and play your first VHL game you will get a graduation bonus of 10 TPE that is automatically applied. No extra steps necessary!

Training Camp: Once you have been draft by a VHL team you will be eligible to receive training camp TPE. Each off season you will be able to click the Training Camp button on your player update page to receive a bonus 10 TPE. That is it, no extra steps necessary.

    Donations

Once per season you can donate to the VHL. There is a donate button on the main forum page that you can click and it will take you to the page. You can donate as much as you would like but to earn any perks you must donate a minimum of 5$. Donating at least 15$ gets you three of the available perks. The great thing about donations in the VHL is that  you can't "pay to play." You only to get do it once a season so it's only a little boost for your player but it also goes a long way into helping the league. Once you have donated you copy your transaction ID into the donation index thread and use that comment as as your link for the TPE. Here are the perks you can receive for donating.

Free Week: A free week is 12 TPE that replaces your point tasks in a single week. It isn't really additional TPE but rather saves you a week of work if you feel like you are burning out.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Capped > Other > Week ending: current week > Type: Free Full Week > Paste your link > Submit

5 TPE Uncapped: Pretty self explanatory, if this is an option you choose that gets you 5 TPE. This is one of the more popular donation options out there.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Other > Week ending: current week > Type: Donation 5 TPE > Paste your link > Submit

Doubles Week: Choosing this option gives you an additional 6 TPE on top of the 6 TPE you would earn with a point task. Also another very popular option but you must complete a point task such as a media spot or graphic in order to apply it.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Other > Week ending: current week > Type: Doubles Week > Paste your link > Submit

$1M Player Store Cash: This option allows you to claim $1, 000, 000 to add to your players salary. To claim this you actually need to do it in the player store.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Player Store > Claim Income > Week ending: current week > Type: Donation > Paste your link > Submit

    Player Store

When a player first joins the VHL there are a couple opportunities for TPE in the player store. When signed by a team you will receive your contract earnings and with that you can decide to either buy these TPE bonuses or save your money for depreciation down the road. I think buying these bonuses doesn't hurt you at all when saving for depreciation as I have done it myself and rather successfully. I highly recommend buying these when you are able to afford to do so. Important: These can only be purchased by first generation members or returning members who have not had a player in the previous three seasons!

The First Generation: Purchasing this from the player store allows you to claim 5 uncapped TPE for your player. This is applied directly to your player so no claiming through the portal is necessary.

First Gen Doubles: Purchasing this from the player store allows you to claim 6 uncapped TPE that you can apply to a point task such as a media spot or graphic.

HOW TO CLAIM:  Copy the link to the comment > Go to vhlportal.com > Click player > Click manage > Claim Uncapped > Other > Week ending: current week > Type: Other > Paste your link > Description: "First Gen Doubles - Player Store" > Submit

Below is the randomly assigned draft order for your group.
The draft is conducted in a snake order, meaning that each round goes in reverse order of the last. There is a time limit of 12 hours per pick. If the person ahead of you has not picked in their 12-hour slot, you may make your selection, and they can go any time after. If a member misses two picks - not necessarily consecutive, they will be disqualified and the team will be drafted by me. If someone has two picks in a row and fails to do the first one before 12 hours pass, tag them and give them another 12 hours for the second pick in a row. Once you have made your selection, tag the person following you.
Group Manager: it is your responsibility to make sure that picks are being made within 12 hours, and if not, that the clock keeps going for the next pick. Please also have a complete roster within the first few posts of the thread - this saves me time later so that you get your results faster! Please also be sure of each player’s position, and that they are not retired nor in the VHLM before adding them to your roster!
    Here are some useful links:

If there are any issues, tag the group manager or me. The draft is now life - good luck! Tag me when all the rosters are complete!

Up next, it's the Aidan Shaw Trophy, awarded to the top goaltender in the VHL! More than bragging rights are on the line here, as any goaltender looking to achieve immortality will see their chances skyrocket by winning a Shaw. In the end, we saw three goalers who rose into contention for this award. Zamboni Driver @Tape-to-Tape was huge in net for the Helsinki Titans, boasting a .926 save percentage and five shutouts. Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123, the Greg Clegane Trophy winner with the Moscow Menace, had a spectacular season with a .927 save percentage and a 2.46 GAA. Stone Wolski @DollarAndADream , the reigning Shaw Trophy winner, had another big season for the DC Dragons, with a .923 save percentage and a 2.65 GAA.

Which of these three will stake their claim tp the Aidan Shaw Trophy as the VHL's top goaltender tonight? Your winner is…

The Greg Clegane Trophy, awarded to the netminder with the lowest goals allowed average in the league, is our first award dedicated to the fearless netminders of the VHL tonight. If we want to get technical, just one goaltender, Michael Olson @MSO94 of the Moscow Menace, posted a sub-2.00 GAA, albeit in nine games. His teammate, Jacob Tonn @MexicanCow123, on the other hand, posted an impressive 2.46 GAA in 64 games, earning him his first Greg Clegane Trophy. After three seasons with the Seattle Bears, Tonn really broke out to establish himself as one of the VHL's premiere goaltenders in Season 76. Valiant efforts, however, were put forward by Grekkark Gyrfalcon @Sharkstrong, who recorded a 2.57 GAA with the Prague Phantoms after being acquired in a mid-season trade, and the fabled Zamboni Driver @Tape-to-Tape of the Helsinki Titans, who recorded a 2.63 GAA.

Congratulations to Jacob Tonn, the Greg Clegane Trophy winner!

We move on now to the Mike Szatkowski Trophy, awarded annually to the player(s) who led the VHL in points. Season 76 saw seven players break 100 points, yet this was primarily down to a three-horse race between Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov, Andrew Su @Da_Berr, and Ola Vikingstad @Dil, the latter of whom ultimately fell behind in the end and had to settle for third with 110 points. Lahtinen and Su continued to duke it out, and as fate would have it, they finished in a tie with 121 points! It's just the second time in VHL history that there has been a tie atop the points leaderboard since Season 71, when Hunter Hearst Helmsley @Beaviss and Ambrose Stark @Banackock tied with 88, making this the first time two players tied for the points lead with over 100 points.

Congratulations to the Mike Szatkowski Trophy winners, tied with 121 points, Mikko Lahtinen and Andrew Su!

After winning the Victory Cup in Season 74, Moscow is back again to reclaim their spot on top of the VHL standings, although it was a tight race. Powered by dominant players like Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov, Kris Rice @Ricer13, and Roque Davis @Josh, the Menace finished with a record of 53-13-6, their 112 points finishing just ahead of Warsaw's 110. While Moscow would surely have rather come out ahead of the Predators in the postseason, victimized by Warsaw's memorable run, it doesn't take away from the great season that Victor Alfredsson's @Victor squad put together in what was ultimately his final season with the team. We may not know what's next for the future of the Moscow Menace, but tonight, we celebrate how great they were in Season 76.

Congratulations to the Moscow Menace, winners of the Season 76 Victory Cup!

It feels like it was just yesterday when the VHL introduced four brand new franchises in Season 73, yet they've just finished their fourth season in the league. The Chicago Phoenix, in spite of much derision and ridicule over things as trivial as their name and drafting habits, embarked on a major Cinderella run in Season 75, nearly reaching the Continental Cup in their third season. In Season 76, they stepped up to become a frontrunner, handily finishing on top of the North American Conference with a comfy ten point margin over Vancouver. Powered by Kyl Oferson @Nykonax and rising star Christian Mingle @Quik on offense, dominant blue liners in Matty Socks @fishy and L @gorlab, and of course, a monster in the crease in Jean Pierre Camus @solas, Geoffrey Dee's @JeffD squad was out for blood, and they got it. After defeating the Seattle Bears in six games, they powered through the Vancouver Wolves with a four game sweep. It was more of the same against the Warsaw Predators, a fellow Season 73 expansion team, in the finals. Despite Warsaw being a perfect 6-0 in elimination games, a 1-0 shutout by Jean Pierre Camus, sealed with Robin Winters' @Sonnet Cup-clinching goal in the second period, finished the Phoenix's rise to the top of the VHL, and now they reign supreme as Continental Cup champions.

Congratulations to the Chicago Phoenix, the Season 76 Continental Cup Champions!

Cheers Wolfie for the talks. Took us hours on end and both of us went delirious at times but happy to get this done!

@Beketov, thank you so much for everything you did on the team, and willingness to re-sign even though Vic may have lied just a smidge. At least we got to meet your goal of heading to a new team.

@MexicanCow123, you're a fantastic goalie and you'll have a couple more seasons to show it. Go win more trophies!!!
