Good evening everyone, and welcome to the Season 76 Victory Hockey League Awards Show, presented by VSN! This is starting to become a bit of a trend, as it's ya boi @Doomsday returning for yet another night of celebrating the best of the best in the VHL!

As much as things stay the same, they change, and the same holds true for the VHL. We saw one team, the Prague Phantoms, win their first playoff series in their history. Two of our newest expansion teams, the Chicago Phoenix and the Warsaw Predators, reached the Continental Cup Finals. Warsaw made VHL history by completing a reverse sweep for the first time in the history of the league. And of course, we had Chicago capturing their first-ever Continental Cup, triumphing over Warsaw, who had previously been 6-0 in elimination games.

The league also bids a fond farewell to three general managers with the season over: Victor Alfredsson @Victor, John Frostbeard @FrostBeard, and Ryan Jubis @Jubis, along with a commissioner: @Beaviss. All of them have been big parts of the VHL, and you all rock. Best of luck to you all with the next chapters of your VHL careers!

The winds of change are blowing, but first, we stop to recognize and commemorate the great achievements of Season 76!

  • Doomsday changed the title to VSN Presents: The Season 76 VHL Awards Show: LIVE

It feels like it was just yesterday when the VHL introduced four brand new franchises in Season 73, yet they've just finished their fourth season in the league. The Chicago Phoenix, in spite of much derision and ridicule over things as trivial as their name and drafting habits, embarked on a major Cinderella run in Season 75, nearly reaching the Continental Cup in their third season. In Season 76, they stepped up to become a frontrunner, handily finishing on top of the North American Conference with a comfy ten point margin over Vancouver. Powered by Kyl Oferson @Nykonax and rising star Christian Mingle @Quik on offense, dominant blue liners in Matty Socks @fishy and L @gorlab, and of course, a monster in the crease in Jean Pierre Camus @solas, Geoffrey Dee's @JeffD squad was out for blood, and they got it. After defeating the Seattle Bears in six games, they powered through the Vancouver Wolves with a four game sweep. It was more of the same against the Warsaw Predators, a fellow Season 73 expansion team, in the finals. Despite Warsaw being a perfect 6-0 in elimination games, a 1-0 shutout by Jean Pierre Camus, sealed with Robin Winters' @Sonnet Cup-clinching goal in the second period, finished the Phoenix's rise to the top of the VHL, and now they reign supreme as Continental Cup champions.

After winning the Victory Cup in Season 74, Moscow is back again to reclaim their spot on top of the VHL standings, although it was a tight race. Powered by dominant players like Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov, Kris Rice @Ricer13, and Roque Davis @Josh, the Menace finished with a record of 53-13-6, their 112 points finishing just ahead of Warsaw's 110. While Moscow would surely have rather come out ahead of the Predators in the postseason, victimized by Warsaw's memorable run, it doesn't take away from the great season that Victor Alfredsson's @Victor squad put together in what was ultimately his final season with the team. We may not know what's next for the future of the Moscow Menace, but tonight, we celebrate how great they were in Season 76.

Up first, we have the Alexander Beketov Trophy, annually awarded to the league leader(s) in assists. This season featured a dogfight at the top of the assists column, and back and forth battle that took the final game of the season to determine a winner. Andrew Su @Da_Berr of the Vancouver Wolves led all forwards in assists with 74, but in reality, this was a two-horse race between Cinnamon Block @omgitshim, playing with the DC Dragons in her final season, and Roque Davis @Josh, Moscow's talented blue liner. All season long, it was evident one of these two were going to lead the league in assists, but multiple lead changes kept us all on edge. In the end, however, Roque Davis recorded his 86th assist in Moscow's final game of the season, while Block went without a point in hers to finish with 85.

Next up is the Kevin Brooks Trophy, awarded to the player(s) who led the VHL in goals. Forwards league-wide absolutely feasted this season, as scoring 41 goals didn't even get you onto the top ten list this season. Andrew Su @Da_Berr and Kyle Oferson @Nykonax were standouts, scoring 47 goals each to tie for third place. Ola Vikingstad @Dil was just one of two players to score 50 goals, but he was still eleven goals behind Season 76's scoring king, Mikko Lahtinen @Beketov. Averaging nearly a goal per game, Lahtinen matched his 61 goals in Season 74 to recapture his status as the top goal scorer in the VHL for the second time in his career. Will he be able to do so one final time in Season 77?
