MAXWELL REFLECTIONS #2 | THE DRAFT
 
It was a normal afternoon in the life of Maxwell Mathias, he was training, preparing, and overall looking forward to the future that stood ahead of him. As Maxwell sat idly by waiting for his name to be called, it felt like an eternity. 36 selections toppled before Maxwell. Secretly, it left a sour taste in his mouth. This taste was also met with some form of motivation. He was prepared to go wherever he was needed, then it happened. @JB123 San Diego's general manager would call Max, letting him know that he was their next selection. As the minutes passed, it felt like an eternity for Maxwell. After his name was called, it was a surreal moment. Finally, he had his chance to shine. When asked about being drafted, this is what Maxwell had to say: 
 
"I'm not the type to get upset over not being selected as high as I felt I deserved to go. I'd be lying if I said it didn't motivate me. I'm coming to San Diego to show the world exactly what I'm capable of. I've got this chip on my shoulder, not because I'm envious of those who went before me, but because I'm ready to showcase the 30 plus people who went before me why they're not gonna be like Maxwell Mathias. I'm my own unique person. I'm myself, and that's the way I like it. I'm going to come out on that Ice, and skate like nobody has ever skated before. I'm gonna push boundaries. I'm going to fight for every possession, score when I can, and defy odds. San Diego? Let's get it! Go Marlins! "

Yeah, it's has always been a childhood dream.

1. I love being a member of Warsaw! Specially since Chicken Wing is from Poland!

4. Our team chef makes lost of delicious polish food that no one else has such as paluszki (look it up, its yummy)🤪

At first I wasn't on the hunt for an AGM, didn't post a hiring thread or anything. Recently a new member joined the league and shot off like a rocket with their activity and TPE earning. This caught my eye pretty quickly and I knew I needed to work with them. 
 
I am proud to announce that @MubbleFubbles will be joining the Las Vegas Aces as the newest AGM! I'm very excited to work with Mubble and show the community what they're about.

6. probably @Rhynex Entertainment from NY, we came into the league about the same time and played two seasons in the M on the same line, but it’s always been a friendly rivalry

1. Hoping to be a positive addition to the squad, hoping to get my team mates scoring and to help bring us to the playoffs. 
2. I want to finish top 5 in the rookie race, but I know I have some amazing competition and that may be hard but I have never scored under 100 points so it is very much possible!

The people on the team, @Crstats23 has always been in the LR's talking to me ever since I joined the league and I get to play with him on his final season, and @dlambis a great GM, who took a chance on me and took me in the first round. Excited to make some new friends and some new memories with others during my time with Warsaw. 
4. this is a tough one, but dreams and nightmares by meek mill, just something about that song that brings energy and aggressiveness, like we do.

6. Omi Aberg. He was my line mate in Stockholm who beat me in the scoring race in the VHLE. so it is a friendly rivalry, but would love to even the series this season ahaha!

1.) What are expectations for this season in Warsaw? 
I have high hopes for this season, our team is stacked and ready to fight for the cup. 
 
2.) What are some things you'd like to accomplish for your player this season? 
As I can see, I need to improve my defense and faceoff skills, so for me that's my main aim right now. 
 
3.) What's your favorite thing about Warsaw? 
Probably locker room, there is a good vibe and nice community. Everyone is respectful and great person

Ariane Leblanc who spent the past few weeks being General Manager for Team Europe in the World Junior tournament, has now solidified herself as a Silver Medal champion. Team Europe today had a medal Celebration where the VHL Commissioner and the World Junior Commissioner were in attendance to award the team the Silver Medal. In attendance was Ariane’s Girlfriend as well as family members of the players.  Assistant General Manager Sam, and Coach Venus, were in attendance as well who were all smiles and jokes. Europe played hard, fast high scoring hockey and took every team to task. Unfortunately their Kryptonite was Team Canada who proved Hungry and dominant.

“I'm proud of Canada, they played a hard style of hockey. Lots of shots, their speed made us draw penalties and we just were not good enough on the penalty kill to make it happen. All props to them, I'm proud of my team. Everyone worked their butts off to put us in a position to win, let's face it Silver is not a bad color” 
 
She gave a playful wink and went to join her players as they celebrated. There was a lot of standouts in the team, who dominated their way through the round robin section securing a second place finish. A last minute change to the line up before the gold medal game saw less shots, but a closer game.

“I don't regret the line changes. I was trying to spark the team to play harder, get creative and try to throw Canada off, unfortunately it didn't work but what can you do? That’s hockey. I had a blast being apart of this and it was one of the highlights of my life.” 
 

It might not be the most appealing addition to a Warsaw core that made the  VHL playoffs last season, but it was one that certainly had some room for discussion. Warsaw saw it's former assistant move on, and they needed a replacement. In would come the inexperienced, yet eager businessman, Calvin Brandt. Brandt is currently the overseer and General Manager of the SBA basketball team, The Seattle Knights, an organization he's had great success with. Brandt also has former ties with The Honolulu Titans, Fort Lauderdale Lightning, and currently works with the Beaumont Barons, ensuring their development for future success. Heck, Brandt even had a brief stint in football. His track record has led to finals appearances, a plethora of first round picks, and more. A feat he's looking to help follow through with in Warsaw, in the aforementioned finals appearances. When caught by reporters, Brandt would address his hiring: 
 
"It's exciting. I come in with this experience in basketball, and people are probably going to look at my hiring as a joke. As something I have no business being apart of. And maybe those comments are warranted. Maybe in fact, they're justified. Yet, when I had many interviews -- I was listening to each, and every word. Every comment. The things that were expected of other hires. I saw several people hired for the same positions I had applied for. It motivated me. It's not like, I don't know what I'm doing. I hate to toot my own horn, but I've been pretty successful doing this sports thing. And I know, I know -- Basketball isn't hockey. You can't exactly dribble a puck. But I've always had a philosophy of the way I operate in this business. It's not about the talent you possess, albeit that's a plus. It's the bond you create with your players. Football, basketball, and now, hockey. Those are the little things that matter the most. You look around, and observe EVERY GM, EVERY assistant, and they'll tell you the same damn thing. It's about the bond you give to these guys.  If you can connect with these players, and you can motivate them to succeed -- The wins will follow. I come in here wanting to succeed. I know what Warsaw is capable of. I know damn well that we're on the verge of something special here. And I can't wait to show you all what we're capable of. I'm excited for this chapter in my career. I'm excited to see where things lead, but most importantly? I'm excited to be a Warsaw Predator!"

With the recent league restructuring and the theft of GMs involved in doing so, we were left with two openings in Halifax and Saskatoon. Coincidentally all from the same managing tree, as Barzal was Sam's AGM in Hali before taking Sask, and now they're both up with the E. Sent out a quick few interviews, had some good responses. We have now narrowed those responses down to 2.

the logo swap here is done so seamlessly i love it. you could not have placed it any better. you've blended everything so well. I also love the colours you used here. a very unique blend indeed. everything u did here is very original and im sure it took hours to perfect this outstanding graphic. 10/10

Review: Came here expecting an championship banner so was surprised when as seen a city logo banner instead. I like the overall color matching and the blending of the logo to city. Only complaint would be the very simplistic nature of the graphic overall with nothing around the edges or to grab your attention. Overall solid: 7/10
