  1. Sim leaguing is a lot of work! I just joined the EFL (got dragged there) and doing double duty is tough (triple duty because of two players in EFL!) Even IRL I like to follow one sport at a time, NHL in the winter and the AL in the summer. Barring some nuclear fallout with the VHL, this league will be my monogamous partner and I’ll flirt with the EFL whenever my coaches ping me.
  2. The regular season is over, bring on the Founder's Cup!

  3. I couldn’t work myself up to a run today, but I did do a 40 min power walk at a 10min/km pace. I really missed Fitbit tracking and celebrating my step goals. Thanks to you guys, I found our that Apple health has been stealthily doing it the whole time! 10000 steps feels good ?
  4. I thought I posted in this thread already, but I guess not - whoops! I’m in for this. I’m in the same boat as most of us here. For like the last year I’ve been too sedentary for my physical and mental health. I can get into great routines occasionally, they just end up only lasting for a few months. In Jan 2018 I was calorie counting and lost 40 lbs (chonky 195 w/36 waist -> proportionally-sized 155 w/30 waist), but all of a sudden its July 2020 and Jan 2018 is a long time ago and my healthy-sized clothes are beginning to not fit properly. I’m going to try to get back into running this summer. I’m going back to my parent’s for a few weeks, and my dad has a treadmill, so I’m hoping that’ll kickstart the routine and I can keep it up when I come back home. I can run: I ran cross-country in HS as a “slow-and-steady” team anchor. My goal was to not come last, and I never did! Second last, third last, yeah that happened a few times, but never last. One race, swine flu wiped out half the field and I came top 50! But since then, without a reason to run, it’s been tough to get going. I can build a good routine for 4-6 weeks, but after that it’s rough to keep it up. I had a fun weight lifting phase that lasted three months and put on some muscle mass. I’ve had a few running phases that have lasted 3 or 4 months over the years, but nothing to the point that I could run a 10k. I’ve done some benchmark testing at the local high school track, and it’s not good. I used to be able to run 4 or 5k, no problem, at any time no matter how long it had been since my last run. But with some combination of sitting down 24/7 for the last six months, catching some sort of covid for all of feb and march, more vaping, humidity, just general 2020 bullshit, I as gassed at 1800m. OOF. 10k is a big big lofty goal if I’m starting at 2-3k cardio now, but maybe that longer range goal will help keep me and us going for the rest of 2020! I’ll hook up to @Beaviss app now. @McWolf @jhatty8 What app do you use for running? I’m on MapMyRun (because MyFitnessPal is so good for calorie counting) but I hear there’s another big one now? Stevia or something?
  5. Yesss Wolf ? you keep doing you! It’s 2020, and managers and fans are more progressive towards you people than ever before. It shouldn’t be offensive to say you’re an offensive defenceman. We know the best defence is good offence. If we have the puck, they don’t have the puck. When you play your up-tempo, puck-moving, and activated defence, it’s more effective than the “rough n tumble, stay at home D”. Hits is a stat you don’t want to rack up, because if you’re always hitting players on the other team who have the puck, it means you don’t have the puck for all that time before the hit. We’re happy to have you and your boatload of points on the Miami blueline this season!
  6. So hot, I love the effects on the background a lot
  7. https://imgur.com/xjyil5z Artist statement: Wow, that was a project. This thing took me many, many hours - definitely more than it looks like at the end. This was my first time doing a project where I a) had to manually scrape a lot of game data from the index; and b) had to search out multiple people's NHL player renders to do multiple jersey swaps. I had to learn a lot of new skills to make this infographic happen. I enjoyed having a purpose to dig through the gamesheets, which can be daunting if you don't have a purpose to be rummaging in them. The player design was easy once I found the suitable images. The jerseys are inconsistent, but whatever, it's only 2TPE and my first big project. I'm proud of the logo behind the glove on Kosmo, the positioning of the Andre cutout, and the flashy colours of the dlamb. I'm I like the general idea of the piece - the information there is valuable and interesting, but I'm struggling with the colour choice and background design. Any feedback on the design is welcome!
  8. Cool job title, great idea, and thanks for the update!

  10. Is this open to VHLM players, or is it VHL only like the VHLM fantasy is VHLM only?
  11. REVIEW: 8/10 | _ | ?️ SSN pumps out high quality (non-cacatum!) sports journalism, and today's editorial is no different. You identified an issue (lack of rookie attention in the VHLM), took a stance (want more), and backed it up with opinion, logic, and positive outcomes. Your argument is well-thought out, presented in an effective way, and makes a lot of sense to both my brain and my heart. However, I am left with a few questions after reading this: Why doesn't the League have a rookie award? ?️ Why though? You should ask them! Your argument would be better supported if you tried to explain why there wasn't. I'm new here too, and I had to go look up the awards because I couldn't believe that there truly was no rookie awards in the M. There must be a reason for not tracking rookies, and I'm so curious what someone from the League office would say. I'll tag the VHLM commissioners Sonnet and DA in the post to make the introduction between the big bosses at the top and Miami's Player Representative. What a tease! You gotta explain this more! Who is Jeevan Samuelsson? I saw the blue text and got really excited that it was a hyperlink, hoping it would take me to Samuelsson's player page, or to another forum post outlining Samuelsson's case for the HoF. If you don't want to write a whole 'nother article, you could even put a "Next Week on Shite Sport News" tag below it to let me know that I'm not supposed to know about Jeevan Samuelsson. Overall, amazing work as always. I'm looking forward to the conversations that come from this! tags:
  12. Press Conference for week ending June 28 2020 1. It’s the last week of the regular season! What’s been your highlight of the season so far? 2. The team is still unclear about the playoff qualification rules. If we’re outside the playoff picture, this week could be our final week of S72. What are your plans for S73? 3. S73 will see four new VHL franchises added to the league. After your experience as an inaugural member of the Miami Marauders, would you want to play for a first-year expansion franchise again? Why or why not? 4. Many of us have only ever played in the VHLM. Are you looking forward to moving up to the VHL, or are you enjoying your time in the M? 5. Today’s Fathers Day in many countries! What’s a valuable lesson you’ve learned from a father-figure in your life? 6. What will be your song of Summer 2020 (or Winter 2020 for Andre ?)?
  13. Claiming week 2 of 3, week ending June 28
  14. That's a high bar to set, but the best GM deserves the best team scouting reports! Thanks coach!
  15. Nice! Yeah it is burnout inducing. Could we make an instagram post or something as a .com, or a 3 platform post as a PT, and earn TPE and help you out?
  16. This is a reply to this thread that @Beaviss locked: The ol social media feed looks pretty sparse here. If you're serious about growing and advertising with social media, have you looked at using community-made social media posts with a sprout social scheduler? With the amount of gfx and articles that get posted on the forum every day, we could easily be posting a lot of cool shit pretty frequently. We could also make managing the socials a TPE paid job too. Social media is a lot of work. If we have these accounts, let's use them!
  17. Hello PLAYER and welcome to the VHL! You’re about to be bombarded with offers from GMs from around North America asking you to sign with their VHLM team. It’s a big exciting process, so take a second to enjoy being wined and dined and recruited to the minor leagues. Today, you get to choose a team to play on for the rest of the S72 season. We just had our trade deadline, so there’s a few weeks to play before playoffs begin on June 27th. After the Founder’s Cup is awarded in mid-July, you’ll be chosen by a VHLM team in the S73 draft. I think that the Miami Marauders are the team you should join to start your VHL journey. We’re a brand new expansion franchise made up of brand new VHLers. Our Assistant General Manager @bigAL and our Captain @AndreBastard are both VHLM rookies, while our GM @Ricer13 is a wise experienced vet. You have a chance to join them in Miami’s inaugural season! We’re a good frickin’ team. No one expected us to make the playoffs, but since about the half-way point of the season, we’ve turned up the heat. Right now, we’re sitting in 7th out of 12 teams in the league. The top 8 teams make the playoffs, so we need YOU to be our playoff reinforcements. We like to have fun. Our team is built on the ideas of community building, team bonding, and active communication. Joining Miami will give you a chance to meet some friendly, funny, helpful, and entertaining friends who can help you get adjusted to life of a sim league. If you choose to sign with us, please plan on joining us on Discord. We only have a few spots for forwards and defence today, so act quick. You can accept this offer by pressing the QUOTE button below and say “Go Marauders!” If you choose another team, that’s cool too. Every GM and AGM that pitches you today will do a great job introducing you to the league and taking care of your journey to the VHL. @ricer13 | @bigAL GM | AGM
