  3. Hey thanks for the kind words Adv! That means a lot coming from a league legend like you. Team Canada was fun, and I loved being able to slot Tyler Walker in anywhere in the lineup. I have a huge respect for history and the people that put in the work to get us to the place we are today, and so getting my tires pumped by a 1000 win GM is a kind of a big deal. But... ?did I miss some news??
  4. That's terrifying...ly awesome! Please don't hurt me, that machete looks really sharp...
  5. Groovy Dood's draft stock be like: Thanks for the kind words Bana, that means a lot from a big wig like you
  6. SO cool, I didn't know Oh Sens was from Latvia either! Are you a big Zemgus Gurginsons fan??
  7. @Beavissfound a problem - forum titles are black on black:
  8. Claiming for Week Ending June 21 - claim 1 of 3
  9. Thanks for all the love everyone! That's great feedback Wolf, thanks! I think you're right, I certainly could've given each player space to make their case to a VHL GM about why to draft them. Maybe we'll coordinate some along those lines as the draft approaches... ??
  10. Press Conference - Trade Deadline Edition 1. Holy heck, it’s the trade deadline this week! Mark your calendars for Monday, June 15 at 3pm EDT. If you answer before the trade deadline: what do you think Miami will do at the deadline? If you answer after June 15: how do you think Miami did at the deadline? 2. Start a VHLM trade rumour. 3. Who “will/did win” the VHLM trade deadline? 4. What professional sports trade impacted you the most, and why? 5. Have you ever been traded? What does it feel like to be traded? 6. Let’s put on our “GMs-in-training” hats. What would you do if, as a GM, one of your players publicly demands a trade one day before the trade deadline?

  12. Woah ADV that's awesome, congrats on recognizing a problem, creating a plan to combat it, and doing it so publicly so your friends can help you stick to it! My two cents in here - same sorta story as everyone, start off athletic, go to uni, sedentary lifestyle, put on weight. I'm not big on tracking weight as numbers, I'd rather go by overall health and dedication to the regimen. With that being said, I managed to lose 40 pounds in 8 months a few years ago. My big trick was portion control. I was eating a 'bowl-of-cereal' for breakfast, but it turns out that filling a bowl was actually 3x the portion serving. I downloaded MyFitnessPal from UnderArmour, bought a kitchen scale, and went from there. Losing weight, for me, was about taking in less calories than I burned each day. The smaller portions took some getting used to, but after a week or two your body adjusts and learns to make due with the new caloric intake. You got this Adv!!
  13. I still think it's Dok. VOTE DOK
  14. But it doesn't work anymore......
  15. I think AGMs should not have 'requirements', but still need to express their interest earlier than after the job opens up. I was one of those 'left-field' hires this season, and since then I've seen one and a half members leave and/or stopped applying for management jobs because they were so discouraged. Getting them onto a list and giving credit to the AGM candidates who have been on the list the longest will help to keep them engaged through the (sometimes) long process of becoming a VHL GM. Anyone who wants to be an AGM should be willing to AGM any team - not just their own - and therefore should be comfortable expressing their desire to AGM well in advance of knowing if/where/when they will get a shot.
  16. Thanks for editing out Dok’s, uhhh, “origin story”, I’m sure his parents greatly enjoyed When Harry Met Sally but..... Great work you three. I love getting voices and faces out there to help humanize the people behind the profiles. If we could see people’s faces, I think people would be much kinder on the internet. Keep up the great stuff!
  17. Shady...... I’m not buying Dok here, maybe Devise was correct.
  18. Love this. I think one way to solve some of the turnover messiness we’ve seen this season is to have the GM/AGM pool open for application once a season, either at the end or at the trade deadline or someone. The pool gives everyone who is interested in management a chance to express their desire at once, without getting their hopes up for a job immediately and quitting from frustration. Blues can vet as necessary at the time. When a job posting comes up, it can still be advertised and applied to, if there’s a concern that not every person would want every job, or blues/commish/BOG can appoint from the list as needed. As an added bonus, this pool will serve as a great skills inventory for the VHL. All our leaders, current and potential, will be evaluated and organized based on skills and experience. This info will help us better understand what our leadership capacity is, and can inform decisions about planning for the future. Very cool idea.
  19. Love: London - the bridges and castles and the swords are the kind of details that make it fun for me! Not so love: Chicago? Phoenix? I thought we couldn't call them Phoenix, they're Arizona now? Go Phoenix, Auston Matthews is from there! I get the whole 'rising from the ashes' bit, but the connection to Chicago is not immediately made. I think we should've gone with with the Cher or the Prince treatment and just called the team Phoenix.
  20. VOTE BEROCKA
  21. Just that my trap wasn’t triggered. Could it be a hypno or witch? Someone is clearly messing with Doom since he didn’t die of poisoning either.
  22. I nominate both @Zetterberg and @dlambZ if you need experience and D if you want to mentor your AGM.
  23. WOAH!!! Big ups to @McWolffor the promotion and @.sniffuM on breaking free from the shackles of the AGM position!
