10/10 Best Mock
-
Depends how much I'm struggling to get it to look how I want. Can be anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours in my experience; usually the shorter ones I don't like as much though.

Taking this one game at a time and hoping STHS has a slider for momentum. Good win guys.

Claimed: Beketov’s Official Season 54 Mock Draft
Beketov replied to Beketov's topic in Archived Media Spots
You seem to really enjoy trash talking without the ability to take it or the skills to prove us wrong. Straight fact is that even TOR G had similar stats to you and I demolished you in every category. So try getting on my level before you talk shit. As for this, I'm just having some fun. If you're so confident in yourself than I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. -
Claimed: Beketov’s Official Season 54 Mock Draft
Beketov replied to Beketov's topic in Archived Media Spots
@Higgins Gimme that bonus TPE, I’d hate to have bloody written something for nothing. -
What in the World is this, a Media Spot written in place of the CoDCast? Well there’s bonus TPE on the line and I can’t play CoD while trying to look up all this information. So, in lieu of a CoDCast, you all get to read my terrible writing instead! Beketov’s Official Season 54 Mock Draft First Overall: Torstein Ironside @DollarAndADream Toronto Needs a lot of pieces in order to be competitive; not the least of which is a goalie. While TOR G tried to hold down the fort he ultimately won’t be able to do so very long. Markus King would be the obvious choice for a franchise goalie but GM’s don’t like to take risks on their goalies so I expect DaaD will go with an agency he can trust: his own. This should solidify the Legion in net for the foreseeable future and start their rebuild off on the right foot. Second Overall: Fook Yu @tfong You don’t ignore a tfong agency player when you have a shot at him; especially if you’re a team like Davos that already has a goalie solidified and doesn’t need to take a player with higher TPE. Fook Yu is the best forward available in the draft, simple as that. Davos needs some help up front and he seems like the most logical person to give them that extra push. Third Overall: Markus King @Kendrick Kendrick has the highest TPE of any draftee in the S54 class and a respectable list of past players to his name. He’ll always provide top notch players and just the right amount of TPE whoring; there’s no better choice. One could argue that Helsinki already has a starting goalie in Astrid Moon and that is true; however I don’t see that relationship lasting. If Helsinki wants to compete they are going to want to pickup a better goalie. I see them either trading Moon for one or simply going with King right off the bat. He’s younger and will undoubtedly pass Moon in TPE; without the worry of early retirement. It may seem like an odd choice but I don’t see Helsinki passing it up. Fourth Overall: Shawn Gretzky @TheLastOlympian07 Muller proved that Olympian may be part of the old guard but he still knows how to make strong players: Gretzky is no exception to that. He has a strong base of TPE for a draftee and a very trusted agency backing his name. Riga needs a lot of help to become contenders again and in the VHL that means starting from the forwards. Gretzky should fit in nicely as a top line centre moving forward with the organization and a nice piece to build a team around. Fifth Overall: Hudson Abbott @Bushito The agency behind Hudson Abbott has somewhat of a shaky history with the VHL but, then again, so does Quebec. He may not be the top TPE earning defensemen right now but Abbott’s work ethic is second to none if you can keep his focus. Quebec will want to solidify on the blue-line through the draft and will pick up Abbott in order to do that. Sixth Overall: Aleksei Federov @Banackock Federov’s agency has some rocky history with a few members of the Vikings but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s a strong defensive presence and would be an asset to any potential draft location. The Vikings offence is strong but their defence is losing some core members to retirement so Federov could be a perfect fit as a second line defenseman and future star for the team. In most other drafts I would expect him to go earlier but there are a few good options on the board so Federov drops a bit. Seventh Overall: Takashi Fujimoto @HFD The HFD agency is new to the VHL but it has slowly been proving itself with Fujimoto. With their potential goalie troubles sorted out I see Helsinki continuing to bolster their forwards and bringing in a strong first-gen winger could help them out. It’s a bit of a gamble and not the highest TPE player available to them but the gamble could pay off big time. With veterens in the locker room to guide him HFD could become a particularly strong member and a great steal at 7th. Eighth Overall: Rudolph Schmeckeldorf @Corco Another returning agency going to Quebec? Didn’t intend to do that but can’t see Quebec passing up Schmeckeldorf if he’s still on the board. They got a defensive boost already in the draft and are set in net with Skye so there’s no reason to not go offensive with this pick and grab a great member in the process. When Corco is active he’s a great member to have and so far everything points to great activity from him this time around. Ninth Overall: Vernon Von Axelberry @BobertZ Chances are NY will trade away this pick honestly, they don’t need much from the draft at this point. However assuming they keep it, and assuming he can’t draft his own player, I would expect Devise to pick up Axelberry here since he’s still available and trade him off to another team. Devise doesn’t tend to care about building from the net out so that would likely be the plan at least. I also can’t see Robbie being too interested in having a backup job. Either way, Axelberry’s a solid choice and potentially good trade fodder. Tenth Overall: Verner Reinholdt @Devise For Devise to fall to the last spot in the first round is frankly amazing but that’s where I’m predicting him and that’s where Calgary can get a great steal of a player. Calgary is still in rebuild phase but they could break out soon and getting Devise would certainly help the cause. *For Holik

And all I hear is you typing up your retirement post. Moon will be retired before Holik and with less than half the wins. I've taken shits that have lasted longer than your player careers. Go back to the hole you crawled out of and leave the playing to the real goalies.
-
You had the exact same S% and only 1 SO more. Also he's a FUCKING CPU. You're supposed to do significantly better than him; not barely squeak out a better GAA and call it a day.
-
I don't deny it. Fact is though, so would yours. Your stats were comparable to TOR G and he had no team in front of him. Both teams still would have made it. Difference is that I led my team to a Victory Cup and you did about as well as a CPU goalie. So how about you learn your place now and sit the fuck down. Try doing it in the net, maybe a few pucks might hit you.
-
Yup, best GAA by a mile and just barely 2nd in S% / SO but I did absolutely nothing in helping the team. Meanwhile you're sub .900 S% and over 2 GAA made such a huge difference. How could I have POSSIBLY undervalued your abilities.

VHL Pick Em' (S53 Playoffs - First Round)
Beketov replied to Da Trifecta's topic in VHL Fantasy Zone
Yes No -
If you honestly think you're the one who got your team to the playoffs then you are delusional. Helsinki made the playoffs despite you, not because of you.
-
Yup haha, once you think about it I'm probably not that high, maybe top 20. I've had a lot of players but none have hit 1000 and at least 2 didn't even hit 500. I'd be interested in compiling a list but I'm not sure it's even possible. Would depend if player pages have been kept up to date on how much TPE former players have had. Mine with Miller was which is the only reason I know how much I've had.
-
Bonus Fact: As of this post I sit at 4309 TPE total across my 8 players. I wonder where that sits all-time? Probably still low. Maybe @ThePenultimateOlympian06 has a list of that but I doubt it.
-
Once I update this in I will officially be 1 TPE off of tying my personal record for 1 player with 825 (currently held by Miller). To some that's a pretty pathetic amount, hell I'm sure Karnage had that before his rookie contract was up, but for me it's quite a bit; mostly because I'm actually a scrub. So, to get myself a tad bit closer to this milestone (again, for me) I decided to write this up as a way of tallying a few things I've noticed while getting on pace to easily shatter my personal TPE record. 1. How the fuck did I not go the full 8 for so long? I guess if I look back at all my players individually it makes sense but still. Miller was my first player to ever go the full 8 in a league where people were doing it constantly. Sharpe obviously I didn't see the need to keep around, Beketov I could have kept but wanted the extra carryover, no idea why I stopped with Young, Kristensen was a scrub so I wanted him gone quickly. White I just stopped? Maybe I went inactive, I don't remember. Chekhov I got fucked by the market (fingers crossed that doesn't happen again) and that gets us to Miller. It's just weird I had that many players and never did it. 2. Podcasts are a godsend. While I haven't had time to record a podcast every single week I've still realized how great it is for getting my weekly task in. Rather than taking 2-3 hours to make a GFX I may or may not like I can just play CoD and ramble for an hour and people actually enjoy it. That's crazy to me and has kept me getting close to max almost every week I've had Holik. That obviously makes a pretty damn big difference. 3. I'm awful for doing extra shit. Even though this will mark a personal landmark for me it's MILES below what some people can do. Hell, it's quite a bit below what some first gens have done if I'm not mistaken. Why might that be? Simple: I suck. Even if I ignore donations (which I just don't have the disposable income to do) I miss out on a lot of free TPE. I don't get my reviews in as often as I should, I rarely do fantasy stuff, hell with Sokolov I don't even remember to get my free 1 TPE a week 95% of the time. I think I've always justified it as "well it's only like 2 TPE a week that I'm missing" and that's true but damn it adds up. Let's assume a season lasts 2 months (off-season to end of playoffs is likely about that), that comes out to 8 TPE per season at only 2 missing a week. By this point in my career that's 48 TPE which definitely isn't nothing. So yeah, I suck. 4. STHS / League timing still hates me. For those that haven't bothered to look at the list, if you don't count my VHLM awards (there aren't many anyway) I have a TOTAL of 3 individual awards over my 8 players. 2 with Beketov, 1 with White. That's it. I joke frequently that @Green has, several times, gotten more than that in 1 season. But alas, here I am. It's honestly discouraging sometimes to see that my work goes more or less un-rewarded most of the time. Miller holds my TPE record and did get 2 cups but played during a time when O'Malley and Karnage ruled the League. Holik is now 1 short of that record but played against the Celgane's and Weinstein his entire prime; and Wingate before then. Even if I do get lucky and not have a lot of competition for awards, such as this season for example, the sim engine decides to fuck my face for most of the year. It has become something I've sadly gotten used to. Sometimes the sim engine just likes you and sometimes it doesn't. Anyway, this is WAY longer than I anticipated or needed but who cares. I shall soon eclipse my personal TPE record which is nice to see; even if it's unlikely I'll even manage to finish in the top 20. P.S Anyone still want an aging starter next season? Don't make me retire early yet again, it's getting sad at this point. *For Holik

I am a non-believer in the supposed "3-1 curse"
Beketov replied to scoop's topic in VHL.com Articles
Im fine with the Bears making history TBH. You guys got your cup, let me have mine. -
Jardy kinda covered it but I just wanted to point out that I did mention it. I messaged Jardy about it over a month ago and he did fix it at the time. I'm guessing the conclusion above that it got fucked up when Will was simming is likely the case. I'm not gonna go scream re-sim over it or anything (though that would be nice haha) because it really is unlikely that 97-99 is doing anything at all but still annoying that I spent Store money on 2 attribute points that were used for, at best, half the season.
-
Let's make a deal. I'll let in 1 goal a game from you and in return you throw the rest of the series. Deal?
-
Bring back the Caribbean Pirates IMO
-
I can't see is managing the full reverse sweep with how STHS has us playing but at least games 2 and 3 have given us a chance.

Replace Most Sportsmanlike and Top Leader
Beketov replied to Da Trifecta's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
To be fair the proposal I'm laying forth offers another award specifically for d-men as well so it's not as if I'm shitting on them in favour of goalies. -
Replace Most Sportsmanlike and Top Leader
Beketov replied to Da Trifecta's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
Exactly! Teammates can held share an award, backups can feel like they have a bigger role, and we get a new trophy to replace some of the ones that honestly don't make much sense anymore. Plus, goalies only have 1 award that's all their own vs. At least 5 for skaters. -
Replace Most Sportsmanlike and Top Leader
Beketov replied to Da Trifecta's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
Not necessarily. A lot of the time the argument gets made that S% is more important for the Shaw than GAA (since it's viewed as more of a team stat) so it's definitely possible that a goalie could have the top GAA and still not be the best choice for the Shaw. -
Replace Most Sportsmanlike and Top Leader
Beketov replied to Da Trifecta's topic in Suggestions and Complaints
Top Defensive D-Man and lowest GAA IMO. -
Personally I'm all for killing the sportsmanlike award and replacing it with a top offensive D award. That way we separate the two categories rather than arguing over which is more relevant.
