As we approach our 10th anniversary this is something I just felt like posting that could be kinda interesting to see just how much some of us are old farts / celebrate how long the VHL has been running for. Basically, I just want to hear how much your lives have changed since the league came to be in July of 2007. Personally I was going into grade 11; I had never dated anyone longer than 3 months and was working as a cashier at Shoppers Drug Mart while living with my parents in Moncton. I was turning 16 later that year. Fast Forward 10 years: I've now been married for almost 2 years (met my wife when I was in grade 12), have graduated both high school and university (4 year BA program) and have been working as an editor in TV / film for the past 4 years. I changed cities twice in the time since the VHL started. The first for university when I moved from Moncton to Fredericton (back in Moncton in 2013) and then the move to Halifax at the end of 2015. I'm turning 26 later this year. Bonus points for photos as well! This is me in 2007 shortly after the VHL launched: and this is me last year at my sister's wedding: It's a year old but I don't take a lot of photos so yeah. Put on some weight but who the hell hasn't. Also, fun fact, the little girl in the first photo is my niece. She has now graduated High School and can legally drink. The VHL is just that old. So yeah, don't make me look like the only weirdo here! How much has your life changed since the VHL began? Note as well that it doesn't matter when you joined, this is just comparing July 2007 to July 2017. Some of us old farts have just been around that long.

I don't often make sigs anymore but if you wanna go ask some questions for the CoDCast I'll answer them while being terrible at video games I mean I might be able to make you a sig at some point, just no promises haha

Not as important early on as well but once your scoring, passing, skating, etc is at a decent point it doesn't hurt to add to defense, even as a forward. It gets taken into consideration in the algorithm for puck possession.

It's been a lot of years haha

Needs more @McNeil though I often feel like I'm the only one that misses that MoFo -
Well there's a name we haven't seen in these parts in awhile.

Since I was dead last week I didn't get a chance to record so I will do @Kendrick's questions this week. Anyone else want in? I'm out of town tomorrow but will likely be recording this either Friday or Sunday. @eaglesfan036 @The Bread Man @der meister @Phil @tfong @Molholt @Banackock @gorlab @JardyB10 @evrydayimbyfuglien @Jericho @DollarAndADream @mpclardy @hedgehog337 @Devise @Smarch @Will @Streetlite @punkhippie

5 goals in the game and no points for Sokolov, off night apparently.

I’m under 300 TPE with Sokolov and the most likely candidate for the Labatte this season. It’s definitely possible. Maybe their rookie seasons wouldn’t be fantastic but I believe they could definitely do it. Plus it might make ROTY races a little more interesting rather than it being obvious who the top 2 TPE earners were that have a shot at it. The only real players it would drastically hurt IMO are goalies since they’d only get to play 8 games a year which would be kinda dull. They’d at least have the better LR though. Up until now I have been generally against the removal of the VHLM as it simply looks like a sign of weakness but even I have to admit that what @Devise is saying makes sense. Why should we be considering removing VHL teams when we have a pool of players in a league they don’t want to be in anyway? If players had more TPE at creation they could easily become depth players on VHL rosters and actually feel as if they are contributing. Sure, you won’t get hat tricks like you may have in the VHLM but is that not worth it when you consider that you could get a continental cup? Personally I’ve had amazing success (individually speaking) in the VHLM but I’ve never really cared about it anyway because I know it’s just a stepping stone. I think even new members would rather be up on a pro roster (potentially in a pretty decent lineup spot if the team is rebuilding) rather than wasting away in an inactive VHLM locker room. If we get our member base back up and see a need to bring the VHLM back in we could re-structure it from the ground up the way it needs. However at this point I think we’ve hit a wall with how effective the VHLM can be and it’s time to do away with it.

There's a nice way to tank my stats at the end of the season haha

Since we don’t have the ability to block sigs anymore it seems (could we get that back @Will @Higgins) it drives me crazy any time I use the site on anything but mobile because every time I see @The Trollfecta’s sig I need to scroll like mad to get past it. Seriously, do you really need 3 full size signatures for your current player, 2 for past players and 2 extra lines? is that at all necessary? They’re decent enough sigs but at a 1080 resolution I literally cannot even have all of them on my screen at once. Just think about that. At a normal resolution your signatures take more than the entire screen; sure I have the top bar of safari and my dock contributing to that as well but still. Not your post, just your signatures. By my rough calculations your signature takes up over 1000px of space, for comparison mine is around 415px. There really should be some kind of limit on this. /rant

Who needs low shot totals for a SO, this is far more satisfying.

Damnit, I wanted to see Sokolov have a good game but not against Holik!
-
Gotta love how ridiculously fickle STHS is. Shutout Stockholm 1 sim and get blown out by Helsinki the next.
-
So, is Federov still better than Sokolov
-
I was wondering how Riga put up 64 shots against me, then I realized it was actually Quebec and the title is just wrong.
-
Picks left over after a @Devise GM tenure? Unheard of!
-
So I made a sig instead, don’t go light very often so it was different. @DollarAndADream *For Holik
-
I'll take back to back shutouts, especially with 1 coming against Stockholm. We're heating up at the right time boys!

@Phil reviews CoDcasts, yes?
-
The choke is real for Sokolov. I played quite terrible the last 20 games or so.

Would love to have some questions so that I can record this in the next two days. Think you guys can manage that for me? @eaglesfan036 @The Bread Man @der meister @Phil @tfong @Molholt @Banackock @gorlab @JardyB10 @evrydayimbyfuglien @Jericho @DollarAndADream @Kendrick @mpclardy @hedgehog337 @Devise @Smarch @Will @Streetlite @punkhippie
