  1. Nearing the end of season in the VHLE, the Istanbul Red Wolves hold a commanding 3-1 series lead over Vasteras. Only a season removed from the first round choke against Bratislava in S83, the Red Wolves are looking to obtain their first championship in franchise history. Istanbul’s season has born fruition, cultivating in a regular season first place standing with 100 points along with the best goal differential in the VHLE. The team has been carried by incredible play on all fronts, with multiple players earning top honors at the end of the season for their point totals and statistics. ”I would not be surprised to see multiple Red Wolves given awards at the end of the season,” GM KaleebtheMighty stated to the media. “With the best forward in the league along with an incredible supporting cast, there’s no question this season has been a success for the team regardless of how the finals end this upcoming week.” It truly has been a team effort this season for the Red Wolves, which could garner some serious hardware for both the players and the organization depending on the last few games in the VHLE finals. All eyes turn to Game 5 of the VHLE finals in Istanbul, where the cup will be waiting in the building to see if the season ends tomorrow!
  2. Switching to a more talking format, here's the next episode of the Interval of Sims! I'll answer questions like: Has recruitment turned a page and started a new era for the VHL? Have the VHLM GMs given up their social lives to wrangle in the new player creates? @jacobcarson877 @Frozen Block Will the VHLE thrive after the new cap change? Perry Laperriere: Prague dynasty on the horizon? @DMaximus @Jason kranz @jaredc7 @MMFLEX @73MPL4R @Ben mclaughlin Frozen block raises the question on the increase of passage of time: Is the Earth spiraling out of control? @Frozen Block And the most important question: What the hell am I doing? @KaleebtheMighty Claiming for weeks 8/14 and 8/21
  3. We would like to thank the city of Bratislava for donating 21 kilos of ice, 62 bandages, and 14 bottles of extra strength Tylenol and Aleve to the Istanbul locker room after the brawl in Game 3 to help us recover for Game 4.

I’ll talk to my players about keeping the fisticuffs to a minimum for the rest of the series 👍🏻

  4. Nothing hits right like drunk 1am Mexican food. It is, unequivocally, the epitome of culinary satisfaction.

The only thing that comes remotely close is 1am drunk shawarma

Try mixing Kraft Dinner and Mr. Noodles whilst drunk. It's objectively not that good, but it hits different when you're intoxicated.

  5. One last time to round out the regular season... ISTANBUL.
  6. Awesome to see someone else inspired from my post, great work!!
  7. PRESS CONFERENCE - Week of August 7th, 2022 (Just answer at least 6 of the questions for 2 TPE) 1). It's coming down to the wire between Istanbul and Bratislava. Do you think Istanbul still finishes on top of the standings? 2). Where was your favorite place you vacationed to? 3). What is your favorite breakfast food? 4). How often do you watch hockey? Are you a die hard fan, casual watcher, or really don't pay attention to it? 5). If you could recreate right now, what would your new player's name be? 6). Who do you think is going to win the VHL Continental Cup this season? 7). Who do you think is going to win the VHLM Founder's Cup this season? 8). Istanbul right now has the VHLE's best offense and defense. Who on our team would you congratulate for their performance? (tag them if you'd like!) 9). Hypothetical: You've unfortunately died. But good news! You have the chance to reincarnate. However, you can't come back as another human. What animal/bird/biological organism do you come back as, and why?
  8. I thought this would be a fun way to take a look at the players on my roster and compare them to current NHL players around the league. I figure it's just a little exercise to give some insight into each player's performance now that the season is drawing to a close! 1. Tyler Busser @Frozen Block - Matthew Tkachuk, LW, FLA Not only does Tyler Busser lead the Red Wolves in points this season, but he leads the entire VHLE in points. Although he is listed as a center, his excellent play comes from his production as a winger on the team. He exploded in production this season and plays a physical game on the ice. Without a doubt, he is one of the most influential players on the Red Wolves this season! 2. AK92 Wit da Hoodie @hedgehog337 - Roman Josi, D, NSH Wasting no time in producing for the team, AK92 Wit da Hoodie helped make the case for being one of the best defensemen in the VHLE. Pushing up the leaderboard this season with their point total, I would not be surprised to see their name listed in the nominations for the best defensemen award at the end of the season. 3. Noodles Marconi @Eynhallow - Kevin Fiala, RW/LW, MIN Initially having a rough season in S83 with the Red Wolves (more than likely from a top heavy roster above him), Noodles Marconi bounced back to push just above a PPG. A 30 goal scorer this season for Istanbul, he makes a great effort to help make Istanbul's offense this season one of if not the best in the VHLE. 4. Cobalt Burns @Ledge - Ondrej Palat, LW, TBL One of the more physical players on the Red Wolves, Cobalt Burns excels in their role as a power forward. While Burns may be known for their hits, they also produce quite well offensively and have found their groove after a slow period in the beginning of the season. Deep runs in the playoffs almost necessitate a player of Burns' caliber, and the Red Wolves are lucky to have him. 5. Nagy Al @bigAL - Drew Doughty, D, LAK A mainstay for the Red Wolves for quite some time, the era of Nagy Al in Istanbul will probably draw to a close after this season. Their physical play exploded compared to last season, and they hover just under a point per game. It's been a long while since Nagy Al has grown as a player. Nonetheless, Nagy Al continues to show why the Red Wolves value him so much and help both offensively and defensively on the blue line. 6. Curtis Crumb @Crummer77 - Adam Boqvist, D, CBJ A newcomer to the Red Wolves this season from free agency, Curtis Crumb showed the promise of a second pairing defensemen and more. He plays a great supporting offensive game and focuses on moving the puck well to the forwards, while still netting 11 goals so far this season. While improvement to his player has stagnated for awhile, the ceiling is very high if they continue to work on their game! 7. Adison Bond @adison - Bo Horvat, C, VAN Adison Bond has been a great addition to the Red Wolves since he began playing with the team in S83. An all around great center for the team, Bond can score when needed or play a physical game too. He helps shore up the second group of wingers and supports Tyler Busser as the top scoring player in the VHLE! 8. Jared Carter the 2st @jaredc7 - Radko Gudas, D, FLA Would this comparison make any sense with any other player besides Gudas? The hit king of the NHL this past season is the perfect comparison, for Jared Carter the 2st is an elite physical defensemen who has broken the record for the most hits in a season on the Red Wolves, which was his record last season. While helping the team with some point production this season, it wouldn't be a Red Wolves game without a monster hit from Jared Carter the 2st at least 3 different times in that game. 9. Calen McKay @Kendrick - Kirby Dach, C, MTL As a Blackhawks fan, that hurt to type out MTL. Anyways, Calen McKay has shown the promise of being a stellar center in the VHL following their career in the VHLE. Reliable, a natural leader on the ice, and an all around supportive player, the Red Wolves would not be as successful as they are without players like Calen McKay. 10. Jason Coiner @Jason - Trevor Moore, LW, LAK They have the potential, and Jason Coiner has shown it before. It's taken some time for things to click for them, but the ceiling is pretty high. While this season hasn't been as productive as past seasons for the Red Wolves, Jason Coiner still exhibits the leadership within the team needed for a deep playoff run. When they do make it to the VHL, I have a feeling things will begin to creep up points-wise in a great way! 11. Ray Withers @Ray Withers - Reilly Smith, RW, VGK There's no flashy play or show-boating with Ray Withers; he works hard and gets the job done when asked. Fitting the role of a 2nd or 3rd line winger perfectly (and with a personal VHLE best in production this season), the Red Wolves are thrilled with the play from Withers and have appreciated having him this season on the team! 12. Joachim Bryngelson @tcookie - Cody Glass, C, NSH A young player developing in the VHLE, Joachim Bryngelson is beginning to find their way in the league. Helping the Red Wolves in a 3rd to 4th line role on center might now equate to a lot of points, but the play on the ice is still noticed. There is still plenty of time for him to develop, and if they really put in the work, Joachim could have some great seasons ahead with Istanbul! 13. Matt Murdock @Acydburn - Ilya Sorokin, G, NYI A temporary piece with the Red Wolves for a single season, Matt Murdock has proven their role between the pipes. Elite play has helped guide the Red Wolves to a high position in the VHLE standings. Their career in the VHL will be very productive and I cannot imagine a universe where Matt Murdock won't be an elite goaltender throughout their career. 14. Shaun Young @shaun1979 - Spencer Knight, G, FLA Shaun Young has been with the Red Wolves throughout their VHLE career and has just begun to post starter caliber numbers. I have a feeling Young's role in the VHLE will allow for another season or two within the VHLE where he should excel at a great level! And that's it for the Istanbul Red Wolves! Claiming for weeks 7/31 and 8/7 (1,127 words)
  9. Having been only here 2 years since last month, I can’t say with a full scope of membership how the league has changed for the better. To reflect on 15 years for an internet site, there’s a lot to see and take note of. In comparison, Youtube and Reddit are only 17 years old. Twitter is 16 years old. Facebook is 18 years old. Look how much that all has changed throughout each of those platforms! There are countless icons of internet moments throughout the past 15 years on each site. The internet as a whole has undergone countless changes in that span of time, both for the better and for the worse. In that time frame, and thankfully from what I gather for the betterment of all involved, the VHL has its fair share of those moments as well. During the time that I began to participate in the VHL, I’ve seen some great movements forward in community and participation. Not only have great teams risen and fallen, but great people have really shown bright in this collective of hockey sim participants. To name each and everyone one of them would be a challenge in its own right. Our community has been incredibly inclusive to anyone who came to join our community, and I applaud the members who worked to make this a welcoming environment. That great work should be carried forward each and every day in the future! Members who have GMed teams have created fantastic locker rooms where new members feel right at home with their teams and the VHL as a whole. Even on teams where losing became all too familiar, the comradery developed within the team outshone the performance in STHS. To each GM who has put in the effort to create that special place in the VHL, a job well done to you. Regardless of the accolades won, even if you haven’t won anything, you all have done great things in the VHL. To the BOG and all those involved in administrative work, your passion over the course of my time in the VHL has been evident in great detail. The work completed over the past 15 years to bring us to this point is not only reinforced by your efforts but strengthened and made better to an incredible amount. Thank you for your time spent making this community what it is and what it will be. The future of the VHL to me looks very bright. I have seen wonderful things and experiences occur in this little spot within the vast web of the internet, and I am excited to see what is in store for us all. While some seasons may bring about challenges to keep things going at an optimum level, I am very confident that the next 15 years will be filled with VHL greats, leaders, and influencers at all levels of the community. Let’s keep this great experience headed forward and upward; the community’s best years are still ahead of us!
  10. Thank you so much for those kind words! Truly one of the greatest locker rooms I’ve ever been able to put together, I’ll never forget those speeches!!
  11. You’re killing it for us this season!!
  12. This was going to be my PT this week, but theme week so here.
  13. Thank you for sharing your views on the E! And just so you know there are absolutely no hard feelings on going up to the VHL, you made some excellent points here and I’m glad to see your thoughts on the dilemma!
  14. Don't think this would replace the current logo, but exist as like a winter classic logo or a stadium series logo for an alternate jersey. Both clean and distressed versions attached.
