  3. With the VHL about to start their 84th Season, players are back on the ice with their respective clubs and readying for game one coming later this week. We found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers sophomore defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment to discuss about the upcoming S84 games. Reporter: Hello AirRig! Glad to see you again! How are your preparations coming for the Season Opener? AG: Hello. Training camp was good! We have lots of new faces at training camp. A very competitive group with a good mix of vets and youth. It's going to be a good season, I could feel it. We are pumped to get things started in the locker room, so we know we're good to go! Reporter: How do you feel your condition is for season start? AG: I feel a bit faster and have worked on my handling all summer. Didn't have a summer tournament this off season, so may be a bit rusty to bout. Reporter: Well, best of luck in the season! Let's see that added speed you mentioned get put to work! [Word count 182]
  4. SITR Rhynex Entertainment S84 Interview Host: Thank you for tuning into VHL Network, Stick In The Rink! We come to you live at the Saddle Dome Studios here in Calgary, Alberta! With the start of S84 just around the corner, we have a special guest coming in to discuss about the outlook of the VHL heading into S84. We have a former VHLer and long time rival of the Calgary Wranglers, Rhynex Entertainment @Rhynex Entertainment! Rhynex Entertainment was a former VHLer who played his entire career with the New York Americans and had more than a couple big games and fights against the Wranglers here in Calgary. Please welcome Rhynex Entertainment! Welcome Rhynex! Thanks for finding time to come in today! Rhynex Entertainment: Thank you for having me! It is good to be back on the show! (Rhynex Entertainment shakes hands with the Host) Host: What's it like being a well known competitive rival of the Calgary Wranglers and now coming in to talk about the Wranglers and the VHL? Rhynex Entertainment: Now! I don't think I was a well known competitive rival of the Wranglers! I did have a few outstanding games against Calgary and lots of fights against Kris Rice @Ricer13 in the early days, but it wasn't that bad, was it? Host: (laughs) Well, let's get straight into the interview! We have a few things to talk about in our brief segment, let's start with your thoughts on S83 and how the first season of the Hybrid system worked out? Rhynex Entertainment: S83 was an intriguing season! We saw the three time defending VHL Champions, Vancouver Wolves go into a rebuild and miss the playoffs. Congratulations to Seattle Bears in winning the Continental Cup and the claiming the throne as VHL's Champion! We saw a new establishment of STRong players dominating the league. All in all, I believe it was a successful first season with the new system. Definitely need a few more under the belt to understand and see the real effect of the changes. Host: Are you up to date with the changes here in Calgary to the VHL Calgary Wranglers? Rhynex Entertainment: I have been keeping my ears open and doing a bit of a review before coming here for this interview. Host: Sounds like a yes. What are your thoughts on the recent off season acquisitions made by the Calgary Wranglers? Rhynex Entertainment: I'd say GM Ricer has done a fabulous job shaping the roster with vets and youth. The acquisitions of Erlantz Jokinen @jRuutuand Asher Reinhart @rjfryman really strengthens their defense, which was a weak spot in their line up last season. Luc Tessier @KC15 will lessen the burden of losing Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil to retirement, but you'll never really be able to replace the void left behind by that of such a hitting machine. Host: What are your thoughts to the rumours of the Wranglers' captaincy situation? Rhynex Entertainment: Well it's a no brainer you'll keep Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream as your Captain and Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser, I don't see why you wouldn't keep such a stud as your associate captain either. As for young AirRig GoodBrandSun, I'd say the kid must had really impressed GM Ricer with his solid rookie season and winning the Jake Wylde Trophy as a rookie. Host: Good stuff! Our time is almost up! Any closing words? Rhynex Entertainment: Season 84 is going to be another wild season in the VHL. Get ready for another superb season of hockey folks! [word count 587]

With the season starting this week, where do you predict we'll end up in the standings come season end? 2. I'm not sure about you, but it feels like a long off season even though S83 one was longer. What length of an off season do you feel is best? 3. What city do you feel would be a good host for a VHL club? 4. We introduced the Hybrid stats building system last season, is there one Hybrid stat that you feel should be different? (ie. DK instead of improving PH and DF, it could be for PH and SC; etc.) 5. Thoughts on the 1 TPE "award" for a player winning a personal award? 6. NHL draft hype! Upcoming NHL draft does not appear to have a "superstar" but many top end talent in the first round. What are your player's season expectation for S84? 2. GM @dlamb made a Blockbuster Trade to snatch up (himself) Vasile Lamb, a former 1st overall selection, from the New York Americans. Thoughts on the trade? Did we give up too much? Or perhaps was it a steal? 3. Heading into S84, as of right now we have 2 players under contract beyond the coming season. This makes S84 a pivotal season. Is the number of players in their contract year a cause for concern? 4. With the start of S84 just around the corner and the S83 Awards about to be presented, let's have a look back at S83. What are your thoughts of how the first hybrid season went for the league? 5. Does donating to the VHL give people a more competitive edge? What are your thoughts on the concept of pay-to-win, in general? 6. Tampa is down 0 - 2 to Colorado heading home to Game 3. They just got smoked 7 - 0 in game 2. Has fatigue finally caught up to Tampa Bay Lightning? Or is Colorado just that good? @Scurvy - in response I'm a pretty busy guy irl but trying to be more involved in the VHL community. As this is my first time taking an AGM position, I bring @dlamb a bit of assistance and a second brain to help build not just a winner but a franchise @MetalToday - in response @dlamb has taught me lots in the VHL. Thought it'll be great to learn the other side of things and get more involved in the community. Warsaw is a great team (almost got traded here with RE, so I'm finally here)
  15. S84 has officially begun with the start of training camp. As players slowly head back to their clubs after a steady off-season, we found time to speak with Calgary Wranglers sophomore defenseman AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment Reporter: Hello AirRig! Glad to see you back on the ice already! How are you feeling about the changes to the club? How was your first off-season in the VHL? AG: Hello. It's been a good rest. Refreshed and ready to go! GM @Ricer13 is doing an amazing job for all I could tell. Big acquisitions and hitting all the right buttons in the S84 VHL draft. What more could you ask for? Reporter: What are your thoughts and expectations for Season 84? What have you been working on in preparation for Season 84 to avoid the curse of the sophomore slump? AG: Just been following suit with my conditioning training. Hopefully we'll see some progress come season start! Sophomore slump? Well I don't expect to digress in S84, that would be bad! Production might not be very good with an improved defensive core. I'm just going to go out there and work hard and enjoy the game of hockey! Reporter: Sounds like it's going to be an exciting season! Best of luck in S84! [Word count 211]
  16. With the VHL Off-season underway and in full steam, the Calgary Wranglers came out strong, making multiple splashes. We found time to speak with AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment who may be the most affected by those moves. Reporter: Hello AirRig! It is good to see you! Your GM @Ricer13 made a few big splashes so far into the VHL Off-season. What are your thoughts on the transactions? AG: Hello. It's good to see you too! Yes, GM Ricer revamped our biggest weakness from last season in a matter of moments! (Erlantz) Jokinen @jRuutu and Asher (Reinhart) @rjfryman are literal star defensemen in our league! I'm going to learn a lot from watching and playing next to those two! It's going to be a great season coming! Reporter: You seem excited! What are your thoughts in playing less minutes next season in S84? AG: Less minutes might not actually be a bad thing. Getting less fatigue throughout the long season would be helpful. It's going to be fun! Reporter: Sounds like it's going to be exciting times for the Wranglers in S84. Enjoy the rest of your off-season! [Word count 187]

  18. With the S83 VHL Finals underway and the offseason just around the corner, we found time to speak with retired veteran VHL player, Rhynex Entertainment @Rhynex Entertainment, who played his career with the New York Americans. Reporter: Hello Rhynex! How is your retirement life? What are your thoughts on this season S83's playoffs so far? The best of the North America vs best of Europe are currently facing off to crown a new champion since the fall of Vancouver. Who do you feel will win the S83 championship? RE: Hello. Thank you for your time. I think it's been an amazing season with plenty of surprises! The European Conference is one heck of a good conference, tough to see so many good teams miss the playoffs! It's hard to say who's going to win between Seattle and Moscow. They have identical records! Regardless of the regular season or the playoffs! They are certainly evenly matched. It's going to be anyone's game to win. Reporter: What are your plans for the future? Any plans to be a GM in the league? AG: Just enjoying the sunshine and travel. I'm going to relax for a bit and not worry about GMing for now. Reporter: It's good speaking with you! [Word count 207]

  20. We found time to talk to the top prospect of the Calgary Wranglers, AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment after the Calgary Wranglers were oust from the S83 VHL Playoffs in a four game sweep by the Toronto Legion. Reporter: Hello AirRig! It's good to see you again! Sorry to see your brilliant season come to an end in such a fashion. Could you tell us about your experience in the VHL playoffs? AG: Hello! It was not a good playoffs. We got swept in four games, not the way I had imagined it to be like for my first time in the playoffs. Toronto was a very good team. It was a very tight series. Ben (Dahl) @Ben was amazing for us and kept up in the games and series! If only I could have done more for the team, we would have a better result. I'm just terribly disappointed in my play. Reporter: You did not have a terrible series. Although you did not get on the score sheet, you were only a minus one in the series, which happened in game one. What are your plans for the off season to get a better result next season in S84? AG: There's a lot of work I need to do in my game. I need to improve offensively and defensively, but first I need to work on my conditioning. Reporter: Have a wonderful off season! We look forward to seeing you play next season! [Word count 244]
  21. S83 Calgary Wranglers VS Toronto Legion Playoffs The young Calgary Wranglers team headed into the playoffs in S83 of the VHL with an overachieving record of 36 - 32 - 4 for 76 points. They faced the second seat of the North American Conference, the Toronto Legion, who held a record of 41 - 27 - 4, worth 86 points. A terrible match up for the young Wranglers, whom surprisingly won the Regular Season series 4 - 2. In terms of the wealth of experience, the Legion holds the edge with veteran leadership all across the roster, and without a single S82 or S83 player in the locker room. On the other hand, the Wranglers will ice two rookies, AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment and Ben Dahl @Ben, in core areas of their team and a retiring old man, Phil The Rock Johnson @Phil, looking for one more shot at a Cup with the young Wranglers as a seasoned franchised player. Calgary Wranglers have three rookie players and four players playing in their first ever VHL playoffs. Toronto Legion have two rookie players playing in their first ever VHL playoffs. In terms of Forwards and Offense, the Toronto Legion holds what seems to be a small edge over the Calgary Wranglers. The Legion's Best Three Forwards match up well against Calgary's Big Three, with a small edge for Toronto for each player matched up; One vs One, Two vs Two, Three vs Three. The Legion holds the Best Forward in Paul Atreides @Mr_Hatter, even through the Wranglers have the league leading point getter in Saku Kotkakoivu @DollarAndADream (barely with two more points (122 vs 120), but two fewer goals (59 vs 61), but Paul Atreides hold the goal scoring title. In addition, the Legion holds the advantage in depth, thus advantage goes to the Toronto Legion. In terms of Defence, the Toronto Legion holds a major advantage over the Calgary Wranglers. The Legion have in their possession a Superstar Defenseman in Aurelien Moreau @Frank, who is also the Best Player on both teams. Aurelien Moreau gives the Legion a massive advantage on the back end in terms of Offensive attributably and Defensive attributably. On the other hand, the Calgary Wranglers is running with a Rookie Defensive Defenseman in AirRig GoodBrandSun, who while is a stud defensively, still holds the 4th best attributably as a defenseman between the two teams. In terms of defensive depth, the Toronto Legion holds a massive advantage as well. As previously explained, AirRig GoodBrandSun is the 4th best defenseman between the two teams, statistically, which means Toronto has statistically Three better defenseman than Calgary, who only holds two defenseman on their roster. Once again, advantage goes to the Toronto Legion. Lastly, we have Goaltending, perhaps the most important aspect of a team as goalies were not nuked by the hybrid upgrade/downgrade. In terms of Goaltending, for a third time, the Toronto Legion holds the advantage over the Calgary Wranglers. And the advantage is not a small one at that, at least on paper. The Legion's Oskar Lindbergh @Doomsday gives Toronto a steady advantage in the cage as a veteran netminder when suited up against Rookie Goaltender Ben Dahl. As mentioned earlier, Oskar Lindbergh gives the Legion a substantial advantage attributably on paper, although it is to be determined as Oskar Lindbergh and Ben Dahl have similar statistical seasons in the regular season of S83 in the VHL. We can ignore Goaltending depth at this time as the Starting Goaltender will be expected to play for the whole series, but Calgary Wranglers do hold the depth advantage in Goaltending. All in all, goaltending advantage goes to the Toronto Legion. Overall advantage goes to the Toronto Legion, with 3 - 0 on the advantage board. Game One: Calgary Wranglers at Toronto Legion Perhaps because of nerves, but Calgary's Ben Dahl had a shaky start to the playoffs in game one. Paul Atreides score the first goal of the series just 0:48 into the game. Shane Lazeski @Lazarus scores at 12:16 to tie up the game for the Wranglers. 1 - 1 after first period. Wranglers hold small shot advantage with 15 shots to the Legion's 13 shots. Kyle Peace @Peace and Matty Fire @MattyFired scores back to back goals for the Toronto Legion at 12:29 and 16:39 of the second period, respectively, to give the Legion a 3 - 1 lead. Saku Kotkakoivu cuts the lead to 3 - 2 late in the second period at 19:17. Toronto leads 3 - 2 after two. Toronto out shot Calgary 15 to 14 in the second period. Matty Fire seals the deal for the Legion with their second goal of the game at 15:28 in the third period, giving Toronto a 4 - 2 lead late in game one. The Calgary Wranglers pushed hard, including a late game power play from Paul Atreides' Roughing minor at 17:11, but Oskar Lindbergh shuts the door to take game one 4 - 2. Toronto out shot Calgary 15 to 8, and leads game two 2 - 1 after first period. Saku Kotkakoivu ties the game at 2 - 2 with their second goal of the series at 8:26 of the second period. Each team had 13 shots apiece, game tied 2 - 2 after two periods of play. No goals were scored in the third period as Ben Dahl stopped 23 of 23 Toronto shots, while Oskar Lindbergh stopped the 11 Calgary shots they faced. Game remain tied 2 - 2 heading to sudden death overtime. The first Overtime game between the Calgary Wranglers and the Toronto Legion. Toronto kills of a significant penalty, caused by Jannik Nylen @DreMin15, a roughing minor at 0:17 into Overtime. Weenuk Warrior ends it for the Legion moments after killing off the (Jannik) Nylen's penalty at 2:32 into Overtime. Calgary out shot Toronto 4 to 3 in the period, but Toronto wins it 3 - 2. Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser scores their first of the playoffs to tie the game for the Wranglers, 1 - 1, at 2:14 in the first period on the Power Play. Calgary out shot Toronto 13 to 12 in the first period. Game tied 1 - 1 after one period of play. No goals were scored in the second period. Toronto has a slight edge in shots, shooting 10 to Calgary's 7 shots. Game remained tied 1 - 1 after two periods. Jannik Nylen scores Toronto Legion's first power play goal of the series at 0:56 of the third period to give Toronto a 2 - 1 lead. A very costly penalty by Wranglers Captain Saku Kotkakoivu at 0:40 of the third period, a hooking call. The young wranglers fought valiantly, but Oskar Lindbergh once again shuts the door in the third period to give Toronto a 2 - 1 victory. Toronto out shot Calgary 13 to 9 in the third period, and 35 to 29 in game three to win game three 2 - 1, and take a strangling hold of the best of 7 series against the Calgary Wranglers.
