San Diego Marlins Press Conference
jacobcarson877 replied to Oatex's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. I hear that RC guy is pretty good! 2. I think that this team is one Simon away from winning again! 3. Meh, Helsinki is in the dumps right now, and Landon hasn't been particularly helpful in the effort to escape that. 4. I'd love to see Helsinki winning some important games, especially after adding a huge player like Hammar Voss. 5. I don't follow the NFL but I did last season and the Dolphins were my go-to watch as a few of my fantasy players were on that team. 6. Prague by a longshot. Beautiful city, amazing branding. -
Was a pleasure to run together so closely this player, excited to see what you can do with this next one!

So as I write this, the London United are on an 11 game winning streak. Some of my more avid readers will know I have been putting a lot of thought into how I can turn this franchise back around to its winning ways. Most of the logic that I could come up with apparently was absolute garbage and for a season a half we have been the lowest event team in the entire universe. I have never been less excited to look at the sims than when we lost every game 2-1 or won 1-0. The amount of overtime we played was astounding, and without Jesse Teno we would have been murdered. But alas, I knew we had some offensive talent in there somewhere. I fiddled and I fiddled, and I looked at everyone's builds and gave some suggestions and finally we have a team that can both score, and have a world-class goaltender. Molly the Cat and Leonard Triller are barrelling up the scoring charts, and we're getting some great production from our secondary scorers. Jesse Teno has been a rock after a shaky start, and is already heading towards a masterful season. With Riga in our sights now, it seems the decision has been made as to whether we will be selling or not, and that answer is... nope! There isn't a team out there playing better than us right now, and despite Davos and Prague having too large of a lead to catch, our goal is to take on the 2nd seed in the first round, and skip the play-in altogether. Riga won't be easy to out-duel, but we're hoping Helsinki can help us out by applying some pressure from the 5th seed as well.

According to Oxford Languages the verb to snub can be defined as such: - check the movement of (a horse or boat), especially by a rope wound around a post. "a horse FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY to a tree" In an attempt to once again circumvent the true purpose of the theme (yes I know I know there isn’t a true purpose to the theme, I get it) I have decided that I will take this alternate definition and use it to do whatever the heck I want to! Although I do not have a rope, nor a post, lets check in on the movements of some particular horses and boats! The last few trades for the horses (Wranglers) have been rather interesting, as the franchise has taken a turn towards rebuilding from their previous dynasty. Some of the trades have yet to see their final value, with several picks having yet to be made. The first trade involves Davos and Seattle, in one of Alex’s famous three way deals. After an initial deal was vetoed sending Bryzgalov back to Seattle due to a violation of Section 6.8 of the VHL rulebook, Alex took no time to dive in and pick up some value in order to facilitate a backup goalie deal legally. Davos feels neutral here, getting essentially a free pick while their new backup has only won 1 of 6 starts so far, and Calgary gets a decent pick for a player that would not help them in their tanking quest. So far, Dirk Diggler has 9 points and DJ Fire Dragon has picked up 3 wins in 4 starts. Calgary also took on some salary from Los Angeles and upgraded a pick. A classic win-win. McLaughlin has put up 19 points so far, helping Calgary stay in some games but ultimately lose them. Los Angeles has used this newfound cap space to acquire Napolean Dynamite, Svatopluk Puk and Adam Rage over the following days, turning the Stars into a real powerhouse this season. The final Wranglers trade we will review involves a pick swap with Malmo where Calgary got their guy in Raimo Tuominen, in exchange for what would end up being Jarmo Ruutu and Jeid Rohnson. With Tuominen and Ruutu having similar ceilings, it really comes down to personal preference for the cost of what should be a solid prospect in Rohnson. Halifax has only made one trade this season, a 3-way deal involving both Miami and Mississauga. It was a pick deal, and I don’t really want to trace where each pick came from. Halifax receives the pick to select liam oinas, who has been a consistent Welfare user, and has put up a respectable 58 points so far in 47 games. Mississauga gains a haul, including the picks to select Gremlis Lielais and Erik Kinck II, as well as a 5th next draft. Lielais has a very balanced build, and is hovering at 38 points in 47 games. Finck II, despite being much lower in TPA has picked up 45 points in 47 games. The final piece involves Miami picking up a fourth round pick in the next draft.

What I'm Looking Into At The Minute
jacobcarson877 replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in VHL.com Articles
The amount of players that I see where their last TPE earned was their Graduation Bonus makes my blood boil. -
Thankfully in seasons past, my player hasn’t really interfered with my GMing. Being in opposite conferences and playing each other a couple times at the end of the season, usually after the playoff hopes have been secured, meant that I could largely ignore the conflict of interest. But now, my player is in my conference, and fighting furiously to knock my team out of the playoffs. HSK, MAL and LDN are playing chicken now to see who will back out the playoff race first, so the rest of us can figure out what the heck we’re doing. Realistically, HSK and LDN could make the playoffs, but would almost certainly face off in the play-in round, which isn’t all that much better. But for now, it’s a united (get it) effort against Malmo, with Wolanin pulling his weight in the last MAL vs HSK matchup, putting Malmo (for literally the day) out of the playoff picture. Still, plenty of the season left, and many more divisional bouts, but it will be an adventure to balance personal success and team success.

First off, chances are you won't be able to sustain a build of this size all the way through. You'll probably need some time in your final season to catch back up. My build (1264TPA) would have cost me 989TPE in depreciation with no fighters. Of course depending on how high you get certain attributes (remember its the most expensive % of the attribute that you lose, not the cheapest), this could be significantly more or less. Yous would most certainly be more than mine. I managed to take the first hit without the need of a Jagr. The second I also avoided a Jagr, but purchased the Still Kicking (8M). This final hit I will need a Old But Not Forgotten (12M) and a Jaromir Jagr (7M). This gave me ~700 worth of depreciation instead of the raw ~1000. Generally you want to bank as much of the season before your first hit as possible, and perhaps even a bit of the season before that. (I banked for about a season and a half before my first hit, so middle of my 4thish VHL season. Knowing I earn just over 200TPE a season, This means I can afford 700TPE of depreciation over 3.5 seasons. This also means I come into my final season at my current max build, which is important to some. I then took my build and looked at my total raw depreciation and potential future money earnings, and figured out the most money efficient way to get my depreciation down to 700, and then spent the rest of my money to get the most TPE possible. @Spartan made a spreadsheet with a depreciation calculator on it when the hybrid attributes came out, and I have a copy but I don't know where the original is.

Is it time for the Pride flag on the Discord logo to be removed?
jacobcarson877 replied to jRuutu's topic in Media Spots
Because white men are always assumed to be allowed in, because society is built around them. Until the world can prove its ready to implicitly allow everyone, the rest of the crowd deserves an explicit invitation. No, but the consequences are only there to convince people to give a flying fruitcake about the needs of others. That's why we have laws against murdering people too. But we never really needed no-murder zones because society implicitly understands that. Until marginalized communities (including those with handicaps) are provided the rights they need without explicit statement, we need to continue the explicit statement. Yes. If no handicap spots are available, able-bodied people will take the most accessible spots. This is exactly why we need explicit support for marginalized communities. -

So long as it relates to both the VHL and the general term "FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY" it counts! I find the best Theme Week PTs are the ones that really bend the Theme to something unexpected!

jacobcarson877 replied to jRuutu's topic in Media Spots
I never said I assumed someone’s a bigot because they don’t have every marginalized community represented as part of their decor. I don’t have any flags or decorations that would imply my allyship with those communities either. For better or for worse I tend to see humanity in a far better light than it is, especially for marginalized communities. So a nice little gesture is a bit of a beacon of hope for me. And at the end of the day hockey has not historically been for everyone, nor would I come close to suggesting it is today, so yes, as long as that’s still true I think we still need to be open and vocal about or support of all people joining the league. I’ll only assume you’re a bigot if you’re actions suggest it, but not everyone has that privilege. -

I mean no, corporations only use politics to drive profits. I understand that aspect of it. I just mean no one gets paid, there’s no one who benefits any more than the rest of us from the league doing well.
