    1. Pretty excited for the VHL entry draft, and to find out who I'm going to play for next season. VHLM? VHLE? Right to the show? I have no idea what I'm doing.

    2. I expect my player to go early 2nd round, maybe late 1st if a team really wants to reach.

    3. I don't particularly like either team, but Avalanche.

    4. I have midnight cheese and crackers with alarming regularity.

    5. I don't watch a ton of recent film or television. I'm a bit of an aviation enthusiast so I did go watch the new Top Gun film at the cinema, it was pretty good, albeit cheesy and predictable.

    6. We all have to make our own luck.

Hello BSN here, this time I’m not going to be Biased, well maybe a little.

@Dom I can write all this article about you, it started the 29 august 2021 it was the s79 playoff Yukon was eliminated, but you offer me the chance to join the Yukon Locker room discord. I didn’t join I didn’t even responded to any gm that offer me that day that I created shame on me. Now I did. The JST was the first thing that I join, I was a big noob then I’m still kind of is. Dom was the Comish of that and still is so thanks for that. You were my GM in Yukon after you saw in Hogan draft that I wasn’t drafted yet. You picked me up at the 43rd Overall in the VHLM s80 draft and we had a very good time in the Lr. After that season you were upgrade into the Malmo Gm and you offered me my first and only agm job. I the VHL. Like a good relationship something big happen the famous multi season.  I had 7 other accounts you help me and you did recommended me some other sim league and now we are here. I don’t think I could have fall in better hands then yours.

@Hoganand @BeavissI appreciate all the help at the start of my journey in the Yukon Lr.

@rjfryman  for all the work you put in this league and for answering all my dumb question during my time gming in the WJC.

To all Comish  and any member that have had a job in the past or now. If it was a little job or a big one. You have make this league a better place.

It is about to get wholesome this theme week and I’m so excited. I’m not going get creative or anything, I’m just going to list people and say why I appreciate them. And I’m going to ping a lot of people.

@Spartan@DMaximus My First VHLM GMs, for my few games in Vegas and my Championship in Philadelphia. You guys taught me everything, and although I was just a clicker who sometimes checked the Discord and asked 0 questions, I still attribute where I am today to how you nurtured me almost 2 years ago. You gave me a love for the VHLM and mentoring new members, which I will carry with me for a while still.

@Frank Gave me my first shot at management! I have been so excited and so driven this season because of this opportunity. I have been watching the league all the time and paying attention to all of the goings-on so that I can do a good job. I love the team we’ve assembled, and I love the environment we’ve built. I also really appreciate that you keep me in the loop on everything and give me the opportunity to pitch in and feel useful. I’ve learned a lot so far and I hope to continue to learn as we go.

@dlamb@diamond_ace @DomI will be honest, I clicked my way through the VHL last go around and I don’t actually remember any of it, but I’m pretty sure you were my GMs, so you get appreciated! You all helped me solidify my argument for best backup of all time which I will proudly assume the role of regardless of what anyone says. I wish I could give you all the version of me that exists now, instead of what you got, but stumbling my way through the VHL the first time gave me what I needed to be where I am today, so thank you.

@Beketov I want to appreciate all that you’ve done in the time I’ve actually been paying attention to the league. Doing the VHLM sims last season and taking the time to talk to us and make the simming an event to attend really made me appreciate the work you do. I also love to stir up a little drama and criticize some of the ways that things work, and you always have a calm and collected response. Even if I don’t like it, or don’t agree with it, it is always respectful, well thought out and sometimes much better than what I wanted in the first place. Also, thanks for the Theme Week and sorry for not reminding you.

@KaleebtheMighty@Spaz@Brandon@badcolethetitan@der meister Literally no one cares about the VHLE. But honestly, I have started to care a little bit because of you and the energy you bring to the Red Wolves every day. I have appreciated my time spent and interactions had, and I can’t wait to see how the season ends and how we all do in the future. Praise be to Simon.

@Ricer13@Daniel Janser@Phil@Rhynex Entertainment@Eso  I have also never cared about the VHL until this season, and I have never had a locker room experience quite like Calgary’s. Every time I enter the locker room someone’s having a friendly conversation about what’s going on or when the baby is coming or what beer they’re drinking and honestly it makes my day. It helps remind me that we are really just a bunch of people hanging out and enjoying some simulation hockey together. It is all so much more important than how our little players do. I won’t get to play with all of you, but I know I’ll get to chat anytime and constantly wish I was in Europe.

@Dil You once came to a decision about me, and said I was a good member before welcoming me to general chat. I appreciate that even though Vasteras keeps beating me.

@samx I love annoying you whenever I can, which I’m sure a lot of people can understand, but I also appreciate that you do like everything for the VHL on top of all of the real-life things, and that is not only impressive but worth appreciation. Despite that, no San Diego can not simply lose. Also go Art Vandelay!

@fromtheinside We always seem to be on the same page about everything, and it is always nice to know I’m not the only one who feels strongly about how things can be made better around here. I appreciate the solidarity, and the fight you fight every day to make things better.

@Shindigs@MubbleFubbles I didn’t spend much time with you during my second stint in Vegas, but you have shaped how I view management and how I can best help new players. You are both masters in consolidating and presenting the mass of information hidden in the forums into a manageable medium. You also both have a really deep understanding of STHS and how to use it to your advantage, and I respect that a lot, although I’m not exactly appreciating it this season.

@dylanjj37 You are the definition of committing to the bit and I appreciate it. There are so many people who just want to be meta, and objectively good, but you have shown that even a gimmick can be fun and as long as you’re having fun and annoying your GM, you’re getting the full VHL experience.

@eagle_3450 Although you’re a true first gen, and I’m simply on my first time paying attention, we’ve kind of been following the same path throughout our careers so far, and it is always nice to have a “rival” who is really just your friend who is also competing against you. We dominated in San Diego together and that rally reignited my passion for the VHL, and then we both got AGM positions, played against each other a lot in the VHLE and will soon play each other a bunch in the VHL. We got drafted together, have scored at similar rates our whole careers so far, and have played in the same divisions the whole time. I wish you nothing but the best and will always appreciate the friendly competition.

@leandrofg I’m so excited to play with you next season, and you’ve really driven me to earn as much as I can, and to do as well as I can to be the best future teammate for you. It is always great to have a buddy to run alongside and you’ve got no choice now, you’re my buddy. I’ll keep pace with you if you keep pace with me. I appreciate all of the future success we’re going to have together.
@Lemorse7 Sorry this one isn’t super VHL related but I appreciate all of the effort you’ve put in to make me feel welcome in other affiliate leagues, as an extension of the VHL. I don’t understand sports, but I understand a good time and a fun locker room. Let’s go Lions!

@Plate@JCarson@Zack@weekz@Snussu@Otaznik Obviously I love all of my Marlins, but you have all put in the effort to make San Diego a fun place to be this season. You’ve all welcomed me as an AGM and kept me on my toes. You make me feel appreciated, and thus I appreciate that. I also appreciate that you’re all doing really well in the sim too. Winning is pretty fun I must say. Let’s do this thing Marlins!

@youloser1337 I feel like you’ve been super underappreciated this season. You put in so much work every week on Fantasy Zone and even caught up from last year’s Bracket Challenge payout. Although I am truly terrible at Fantasy Zone, I always do it and I always get some TPE, and I appreciate it. Keep up the good work!

@Moon@MinionThank you for always keeping general chat fun and interesting. I know you find a lot of value in the VHL community and just know we find a lot of value in you being a part of the VHL community. You always have a story to tell, and there’s always something happening to either of you, and although I do not appreciate the negative things that happen to you I do appreciate the great conversation it brings about. Also, thanks Minion for definitely reminding me to not write all of my point tasks for the week last night or I would’ve missed Theme Week.

@JardyB10 I love your podcasts so much. Although I really only listen when it involves me, I always enjoy them, regardless of length. I don’t know how you haven’t killed anyone on the road yet, but your driving skills deserve commemoration.

@rjfryman One of my favourite projects on the VHL is the Draft Class Rankings. I know you haven’t done them in a couple weeks, and you’ve had a bunch of issues, and I very much hope everything is okay with all of that. It is always great to watch your player progress over time and keep up with the careers of those around you.

And with that, I’m going to call it there. It would be really funny to drop a members tag here and say I appreciate you all, which I very much do, but I also appreciate the mods, so I won’t. Thanks to anyone who has interacted with me and lets have some good vibes this week before chaos reigns once more.

Eso reacted to animal74 in Malmo Nighthawks S82 Team Awards
Although unknown at the time, S82 would be the last hurrah for the core group of Nighthawk veterans as many would leave in the off-season. Malmo still snuck into their sixth straight playoff berth under new offensive leadership, a patchwork defense and one last great goaltending performance from Nighthawk lifer, Artem Tretiak, only to lose in five games to rival and eventual Cup Finalist Moscow. Next season, a new generation of Nighthawks will have their names called, but for one last time, let’s honor those who led the way.

Here are the Malmo Nighthawks S82 Team Awards as voted by players and management:

    Condor Adrienne Award (Best Defenseman)
    Addison McLaren @tcookie
The diminutive American blueliner ended his career with a bang, setting career-highs in assists (61), points (85), plus/minus (47), penalty minutes (170) and shot blocks (204). He led the Nighthawks in plus/minus and shot blocks and also led Malmo defense in goals, points, and shots.

    Rookie of the Year
    Miroslav Tsarov @PadStack
Although being Malmo’s only freshman skater in S82, the slick Ukrainian had one of the finer rookie campaigns in Nighthawk history. His 30 goals and 41 assists were both fifth on the team and he was tied for fourth in points (71) and plus/minus (44). He held a spot on the top line and will be relied on heavily next season.

    Unsung Hero
Addison McLaren @tcookie, Taylor Mourning @scoop, Nathaniel Minion @Minion
Perhaps at the expense of each other, the top three scorers for the Nighthawks tied in the vote for the Unsung Hero Award. Mourning and Minion exploded in the last half of the season with career-highs in goals, assists, and points to sneak in among the league’s top scorers while McLaren helped fuel the Malmo attack with career-highs in assists and points.

    Most Energetic
    Nathaniel Minion @Minion
Minion’s engine never stops running and that propelled him to lead the Nighthawks in special team points (36 PPP, 2 SHP) and set franchise records for assists (88) and points (135). His enthusiasm is also contagious in the locker room.

    Most Gentlemanly
    Brendan Telker @Telkster
One of six VHL players in S82 with over 70 points (71) and less than 10 PIM (7), Telker has always exuded a professional and chivalrous attitude that permeated the whole franchise. His calm demeanor and leadership will be missed.

    Most Valuable Player
    Taylor Mourning @scoop
Mourning exploded for 59 goals in S82 which tied him for second in the league and was one off the team record. He also led the team in shots (666), power play goals (16) and game-winning goals (8).

    Nighthawk of the Year
    Druss Deathwalker @animal74
The team’s captain had a bit of a down year offensively but still scored over 30 goals for the second straight season, led the VHL in hits (413, team record) and penalty minutes (217) and picked up his play down the stretch to will the Nighthawks to their sixth consecutive playoff berth. He continues to be the team’s heart and soul and his presence is noticed on and off the ice.

    3-Stars Award
    Taylor Mourning  @scoop
Not surprisingly, Mourning’s ability to light the lamp with regularity earned him the most 1st Star selections in the VHL with 17. This led him to running away with the Nighthawks’ 3-Stars Award with 770 points.

    Full 3-Star standings below:

    Player 1st 2nd 3rd Star Points Total Stars Taylor Mourning 17 10 6 770 33 Nathaniel Minion 7 10 10 510 27 Druss Deathwalker 2 6 7 250 15 Addison McLaren 1 3 11 200 15 Artem Tretiak 4 2 2 180 8 Miroslav Tsarov 2 2 4 140 8 Brendan Telker 1 3 4 130 8 Steve Eso 1 3 2 110 6 Sven Reikkinen 2 1 0 80 3 Poopy Peepants 0 1 2 40 3 Kaladin Kvothe 1 0 0 30 1

    Swiss Central Gazzette

Our Canadian correspondent Jean-Luc Lieuxperroux had a chance to talk to Kurt Janser, GM of the Mississauga Hounds after the VHLM dispersal draft.

JLL: 'Kurt, you were GM for the Team World in the WCoH. What are your thoughts now, with a little distance to this event?`'
KJ: 'The whole team was hyped and we really wanted to go the whole nine yards and believed in ourselves to be able to compete for gold. This confidence was justified by our performance in the round Robin where we practically curbstomped the other teams. Maybe we got too cocky after that and stopped to do the little things right when we lost the semifinal as well as the Bronzegame. Hockey is a fast game on a slippery surface and it does not take much to lose a game which you should win. It is a thin red line between confidence and arrogance, and we may have overstepped the line. Maybe we have used up our puck-luck in the round Robin already. I still believe this team was good enough to win it all, but we need to acknowledge that in the respective games, our opposition was better. I just feel sorry for the players who had their last swing to lay hands on the World Cup.'
JLL: 'The Hounds had a lot of picks this offseason. Please talk us through them if you will.'
KJ: 'I think we drafted well. We picked Adison Bond with our first pick. I did not think that he would still be available come draft time, but when I saw him on the board, I just could not pass on the opportunity. However, in the meantime, Kaleeb and Adison contacted me and asked me to release Adison to play in the VHLE. As much as I hate to lose a player like Adison, I think it is in his best interest if he can compete on a higher level. So with a heavy heart, but with confidence to do the right thing, we decided to release him and wish him best of luck for his stint with the Red Wolves.
With Bryzgalov we got a very solid netminder who will give us a fighting chance every match. Carson Hound was too good to pass on, too. And if we consider that he is Swiss and his name I simply could not NOT draft him. He will be a pillar in our defence core. With Justice we brought in a promising young center who will make his way into the big show sooner rather than later. Finck, Suzuki, Nash and Machine are repeated offenders and we love to bring them back to Mississauga. Clark, Mortis, Cobberson, Kelly, Payne, Smith and Slotter were drafted based on positional needs, some of them will be ready (or are expected to be ready) for the VHLE next season, others will take some more development time. We are happy to have gotten them all and hope they enjoy their time in Mississauga and that we can prepare them for their further career.'
JLL: 'Okay, thanks Kurt for your statement, and good luck for the season.'
    KJ: 'Thanks, take care Jean-Luc.'

Eso got a reaction from Spartan in Sax Justice - Junior Review
Sax Justice was born in England, but was orphaned shortly after he was born and grew up with a foster family in Canada (it's a long story, I was doing some roleplay in the PBE when I first created this character). He grew up in Weyburn, Saskatchewan and like many of his peers, played ice hockey growing up on outdoor rinks during the cold prairie winters. Unlike most players that eventually turn pro, Justice did not dominate his local youth leagues at any level, and mostly played house league. He did play well enough to get invited to try out for travel teams through most of his youth, and while his foster sister also played competitive women's hockey, it was very much a hockey household.   Due to his dual citizenship, Justice was offered a scholarship to play for a private school in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and there he quickly became a "big fish in a small pond" as very few of the local English players had as much as experience with ice hockey as he did. In a fledgling league consisting of several schools in England, Justice quickly emerged as a star player, whom many of the rival teams begrudged, believing him to be a "ringer" brought in from Canada. To these accusations Justice could only laugh, knowing that he had only been a middle of the pack player in Canada. Even while playing against older youths, Justice's combination of speed, vision, and hands allowed to him to lead the league in scoring for all three years that he played in it, often using his speed and puckhandling to execute his "signature move" of carrying the puck through the neutral zone, going outside on the defenseman, and driving towards the side of the net before throwing a cross crease pass to a teammate for a tap-in. During this time Justice did not neglect his studies, though he did miss the more pervasive hockey culture back in Canada.   As he approached the end of his secondary school career, Justice weighed his options. Several colleges and universities in the United Kingdom had offered scholarships and he thought long about the opportunity to continue being something of a local superstar, however he did worry that the relatively poor strength of local competition might be holding back reaching his full potential as a hockey player. Fatefully, that Christmas break when he was back in Canada, the local senior men's amateur team was shorthanded and he agreed to fill in. Here, even playing amateur hockey, he relished the speed and intensity of playing against other people who had grown up with hockey. That experience helped him make up his mind to decline the offers to play collegiate hockey in England and instead to declare eligibility for the minor division of the Victory Hockey League.   470 words
