Oh this is a hard one. I'd love to be involved in another thing like this but I'm not sure that can ever be replicated. I would absolutely love to read through that thread again though.

Downey Ready to Prove Doubters Wrong
Mississauga, ON – New Mississauga Hounds defenseman Jeff Downey is coming into the S67 VHLM season with a chip on his shoulder. The high school standout defenseman came into the VHLM dispersal draft with high expectations on his draft position but fell all the way to the 4th round, being taken 35th overall.
‘I was really expecting more out of this draft. I had spoken to a few general managers prior to the draft and had high hopes that I would be drafted fairly high. Even though I was new to the league shortly before the draft I had proven I was committed in the training room and had attended a few league meetings already. I guess I’ll just need to prove all the teams that passed on me wrong.’ Downey said when interviewed after the draft.
Being picked by the Hounds has provided Downey with an interesting situation. He will no doubt be heavily relied on by the Hounds and will have all of the opportunity in the world for ice time. If Jeff can capitalize on this opportunity his dropping in the VHLM draft could greatly benefit his stock in the VHL draft.

Oh I'm banking on getting the ice time with the Hounds. It is going to be quite the experience with this squad but I am already up over 1/4 of this total.

That is a big thing for me as well. Players only have an identity until their 3rd or 4th season then they all blend together.
One way to fix that although it may be hard to implement at this point would be the archetypes I have seen in other leagues.

I feel that Saskatoon may have been attempting to tank my draft stock for the VHLM draft so they could potentially pick me up as an undrafted free agent. I cannot confirm this but I have no other explanation.

Unfortunately with me averaging under a minute per game I am not even sure I played the same player on multiple shifts. Hard to form and opinion on a guy if you never see them.

I have always been a fan of the Helsinki Frostbite as my grandfather was their first captain and I'd like to follow in his footsteps. The Mississauga Hounds have taken a chance by drafting me and are also the closest team to my hometown so I'd say they are my favourite in the VHLM.

The S68 draft class has a ton of talented defensemen so cracking the top round is going to be tough. I think the GMs around the league will see my commitment to my training and I could stand a chance of being picked that high but it will be tough.

The main focuses of my game are defensive as well as my physicality. I feel it is a big positive if you can make the other team think about where you are on the ice at all times and the best way to do that is by throwing your body around.
