  1. Welcome back to the M @MattyIce! I'm JB, the AGM of the Ottawa Lynx and we would like to offer you a contract. Right now, you would slot in as our 3rd line center, however, you will move up the lineup as you grow your player. My GM, dlamb, and I, are very active in the locker room, along with many Lynx players. Ottawa has a long history of developing top-tier talent, and Matty Fire can be the next! Quote this post with #FEEDtheLYNX to join the Lynx! Good luck with Fire, JB
  2. Welcome back @dasboot! I’m JB, the AGM of the Ottawa Lynx. My GM, dlamb, and I are active in the locker room, as well as many of our players. We can offer you a spot on our third line right now, which obviously will change as Detroit develops. Quote this post with #FEEDTHELYNX to join us here in Ottawa! Best of luck with Detroit, JB
  3. Review: This offers a cool alternative to the other logo. Great emphasis on E, making it larger, putting it behind ‘VHL’ and making it white in front of a gray background. Putting Europe in the background was a great idea. The red stars make it stand out, and I assume they stand for the six teams. Excellent job, 9.5/10.
  4. Review: Great article, I liked how you first chose Original 6 franchises, then also included possible expansion teams. It was good how you formatted and divided topics to make it easier to read. Only suggestion is an image or two, but overall well done. 9/10
  5. Since Nathan Powers entered the VHLM a season ago, he has made an impression as a physical, two-way defenseman for the Yukon Rush. Not anymore. Well, somewhat. Powers has said he is working to improve his game, and rework some things, including how much physicality he brings. “I’ve been taking too many penalties. A hit can be good in certain situations for sure, but I need to focus a bit more on other aspects of the game.” Powers has led the Rush in hits the past two seasons, as well as time in the box. “I need to be better. Plain and simple. This team is too good for me to take dumb penalties.” As for what he looks to focus more on now, he said, “Right now I’m looking to give more attention to playing offense and defense. I’m still going to hit, but to shut opponents down rather than take penalties. I think both in the short term and long run this will pay off.” Powers is currently fifth in points on the 1st-place Rush with 60 (13 goals, 47 assists) through 45 games. He was drafted ninth overall by the Prague Phantoms last season. Word Count: 197
  6. Hello @Gerry252! Welcome to the VHL! I’m JB, the AGM of the Ottawa Lynx. Me and my GM dlamb are both active and here to help our players with whatever they need. Our locker room on discord is a great place, with active members who are very welcoming. We would like to offer you a contract. We can offer third line minutes at the moment, but that will change as you develop your player. Ottawa has a long history of developing stars, and YOU can be the next! Just quote this post and say #FEEDTHELYNX to join us! Have fun in the VHL, JB
  7. Welcome @Notstarwarsgunner ! I’m JB, the AGM of the Ottawa Lynx. Me and my GM dlamb are both active and willing to help. We would like to offer you a contract. We can give you third line minutes as of right now, but as you develop, you will most certainly gain ice time. We have a great locker room with friendly and active players. We are currently fighting hard in the standings, and you can help push us over the top. The Lynx have a long history of developing top-tier talent, and YOU can be the next! Just quote this message and say #FEEDTHELYNX to join us! I wish you the best in the VHL, JB

  9. Thanks! Haha you already talked about it so it wouldn’t fit under the title lol. You made a great argument
  10. Oh wow. Didn’t know this but this will be good for the case for Madrid in the VHLE
  11. OTTAWA LYNX PRESS CONFERENCE Week Ending June 13, 2021 As always, answer 3 for 1 TPE and 6 for 2 TPE. 1. Theme week is upon us, and this season's theme is the VHLE. What do you plan on doing, either an article or graphic, etc.? This is a great opportunity to get 6 capped TPE as well as 6 uncapped for 1 point task! 2. We have lost our playoff spot to Mexico City -- for now. Do you think we could make an unexpected run this year if we secure a spot down the stretch? 3. This week is also trade deadline week. Any suggestions (general) on what you might like to see happen? Any needs, etc.? 4. For undrafted players, what is your dream team to go to in the VHL? For drafted players, how much are you looking forward to playing in the VHL, with the franchise that drafted you? 5. What's the ideal build of your player? In other words, where do you hope you'll get to eventually, either attribute-wise, or the type of player you want to be overall? 6. What is your favorite movie of all time, or your favorite movie genre? #FEEDTHELYNX @bRaidsz@Charlie @stello2005@Shane Laz@ajwllmsn @qripll@Emase@osens @benaky@Edustava@PistolP@Xalen11@BostonBruinsFan1806 @Donno100
  12. THEME WEEK ~ SEASON 78 Hello all, With Theme Week of Season 78 somehow already upon us, and with the topic being the VHLE, I have decided to write about the cities that are not getting enough attention to be granted one of the ‘Original Six’ VHLE franchises. I included team names, as well as descriptions of the cities and the significance of my team name choices. Note: This order is strictly east to west Minsk, Belarus - Minsk Evergreens Minsk is the capital of Belarus, a country that is known for their appreciation of architecture and the arts. There are many museums to visit in Minsk. Not to mention a 15,000-seat ice hockey arena. About forty percent of all of Belarus is covered by forest, which makes ‘Evergreens’ a fitting name. Notable NHL Players: Yegor Sharangovich, New Jersey Devils (Born in Minsk) - Sharangovich had a solid rookie season for New Jersey, scoring 30 points in 54 games. Madrid, Spain - Madrid Explorers/Madrid Royals Madrid is Spain’s well-known capital, and the sixth-largest city in Europe today. Madrid is the center of culture in Spain, and it even has the oldest restaurant—in the world, called Sobrino de Botín. Spain played a large part in the Age of Exploration, which is why the Madrid Explorers would make a ton of sense. Another potential name is the Madrid Royals, since Spain has one of the oldest monarchies in Europe. Notable NHL Players: No NHL players have been born in Spain as of yet, however, many have Latino ancestry, including Auston Matthews and Max Pacioretty, and retired forwards Scott Gomez and Bill Guerin. Dublin, Ireland - Dublin Emeralds Dublin is Ireland’s capital, the capital of the Emerald Isle. Dublin has a lot of pubs and restaurants, and Ireland overall has great sights to see, including medieval castles. Due to Ireland being the ‘Emerald Isle’ and my reluctance to call them the ‘Isles,’ I am going with the Emeralds, a name that was in discussion for the Seattle NHL franchise and one that captures one of Ireland’s natural characteristics—how green it is. Notable NHL Players: Owen Nolan was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but it is part of the Emerald Isle itself, so I am counting him. Many players have had Irish ancestry, including Patrick Kane and Ryan O’Reilly, and retired forwards Brendan Shanahan and Terry O’Reilly. Zurich, Switzerland - Zurich Moguls Zurich is a large financial center in Europe, which makes ‘Moguls’ a perfect name. The ‘Financial Moguls’ would be too long so I shortened it to just ‘Moguls.’ Besides money, Zurich is a beautiful city, with the Alps and Lake Zurich right there—what better backdrop for hockey? The town is no weak link, either, with museums and shopping, among other things. Lastly, and arguably most importantly, Switzerland is on the hockey map already and is a great market for hockey. Notable NHL Players: Roman Josi, Nino Niederreiter, Nico Hischier I hope you enjoyed reading, and hopefully this inspires a city to get a team that otherwise wouldn’t have. I certainly liked researching some places I normally don’t get a chance to. Thanks again! Word Count: 521
  13. Logo looks great, not sure if “Foxes” or “Fox” (haha) is set in stone, but what about the Rome Gladiators?
  14. Review: Good graphic. The shades and tints are very cool. The spots of paint add to it. Font of John and Merrick look awesome, John looks like a signature of a player while Merrick stands out in red. Great job, 9/10.
  15. OTTAWA LYNX PRESS CONFERENCE WEEK ENDING JUNE 6, 2021 1. Just yesterday, we sent two very good players, defender Kirby Pandora and center Jlloyoid Blloyoiderson to Halifax for a 1st, 2nd, and 4th round pick. Thoughts on this trade? 2. We lost to Philly today, 3-1, but did beat Mexico City, 5-3. Some games our offensive game shines, while others our defense prevails. What aspect, offense or defense, has been better overall this season, in your opinion? What part of our game can improve? 3. What do you think of your development as a player? Would more detailed TPE instruction help anyone out at all? 4. Currently we sit at 4th in the East, 6 and 7 points ahead of Miami and Mississauga, respectively. Do you think we can hold onto that last playoff spot? 5. Have you ever visited another country? If so, where, and how was it? If not, where do you hope to travel to someday? 6. What did you think of the Leafs surrendering a 3-1 series lead to Montreal? Reminds me, be sure to fill out your predictions for Round 2, Winnipeg vs Montreal (if you haven't): If you aren't watching playoffs, how is another tournament/sport going? World Championship ends this Sunday I see? @bRaidsz @stello2005 @Charlie@Shane Laz @ajwllmsn @qripll @Emase @osens @benaky @Edustava@PistolP @Xalen11 @BostonBruinsFan1806 @Donno100
  16. Hi there @Bob! Welcome to the league! I'm the AGM of the Ottawa Lynx and would like to offer you a contract. We can offer you third line minutes and a friendly and active locker room! 17. Review: Time and effort you put in shows, excellent article. Cool topic to read about for sure. Like crstats said, stats are awesome to reference. A lot of solid material packed in. Interview is a great bonus, as well as of course the analysis of each player, intro & conclusion. Nothing I can think of to improve, really good read. 10/10.

    Best of luck in Halifax!
  19. Review: Fire! The 3D font stands out and goes great with the red mist. The black and white image of the city fits with the red theme. Only thing I would suggest is some kind of logo swap. Otherwise, solid graphic. 8/10.
  20. Review: Awesome job! Format is solid, the article flows well. The inclusion of stats adds to it. Easy for someone to understand the context too. I would only suggest an image possibly? But overall a great read. 8/10.
  21. Rome then we could play outdoor games at the restored Colosseum
  22. HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA -- May 6, 2021. The Season 77 ProAm Tournament was getting underway, with a draft. I was honored to be selected as the GM of Team Six. I soon welcomed @Anomalijs as my assistant GM, and we named the team the Halifax Chiefs, a combination of hockey teams from two popular movies, Goon and Slapshot (Halifax Highlanders, Charlestown Chiefs). For those of you who do not know, the ProAm tournament is something to do in the offseason when not much is going on. Players sign up, from both the VHL and VHLM (and soon VHLE )? The players are then put into a pool to be drafted to one of six teams. The teams compete in a 10-game regular season/round robin to determine seeding. All teams make the playoffs, where they faceoff to find a winner. Three medals are given out at the conclusion of the tournament, the traditional gold, silver and bronze. Now it was time to pick up some players. We were picking third. With no goalies off the board at three, we were glad to pick Jacob Tonn, @MexicanCow123, who we felt was the best goaltender available. At 10th overall, we took center Isabella Campbell, @Banackock, who was an absolute steal in our minds. An elite two-way center who could win us a lot of draws as well. Not to mention that she was in the Cup finals with the Bears, who of course would win it a few days later. With pick 15, we selected Campbell's teammate Timothy Brown, @a_Ferk. Brown was someone who we didn't think we could get so late, but we did. He would be a great wing for Campbell, and their chemistry was already terrific. At 22, we took our top defender, Matt Thunder, @Matt thunder. Thunder is all you look for in a #1 D; a defensive stalwart, an excellent skater, and a puck-mover who could join the rush. We ended up trading our next pick, #27, as well as #39, for #29 and #32. With pick 29, we were happy to select Chris Reynolds, @Crstats23. Reynolds would form an unstoppable top line that would inevitably draw comparisons to the Perfection Line. Three picks later, left winger Dominic Gobeil, @Domg5 was a Chief. This pick in particular famously upset some people, not mentioning any names . Gobeil was intended to be a solid option in addition to Reynolds at LW. However, with the way things went, we felt it best to play Gobeil on defense, something he was willing to do and I appreciate very much. We won gold, right? So I guess it all worked out. Getting back to our picks, with pick 34 we gladly selected our second line center, Steve Eso, @Eso. Eso would create an outstanding one-two punch down the middle along with Campbell. Eso was very good on offense, but it was his responsibility in the defensive zone that really wowed us. He could win faceoffs and do the little things right. We had to wait a while to pick again, but when we were on the clock at 46, we took defender Joe Madison, @Brewins15. Madison was a defender who we could trust to play big minutes and play well. Madison gave us great flexibility in our lineup. At 51, we grabbed Gustislav Nasherov, @Vat, a 1st round pick of the Helsinki Titans. Nasherov somehow remained on the board, waiting to be picked. Nasherov, we envisioned, would be a great sniper to play with Eso on the 2nd line. With our second-to-last selection, we took defender Jannik Nylen, @DreMin15. Nylen, although a VHLMer, was very underrated. Nylen could play in many different situations, and made our top-4 a unit to fear. With our final pick, we were beyond happy to select the AGM of the Chiefs, Miks Sunish. Sunish would get to play on a line with former Hounds teammate, Gustislav Nasherov. Sunish had a lot of offensive upside, and what better line to play on? For reference, here were the main lines we rolled with throughout the tournament: Chris Reynolds -- Isabella Campbell -- Timothy Brown Miks Sunish -- Steve Eso -- Gustislav Nasherov Matt Thunder -- Joe Madison Dominic Gobeil -- Jannik Nylen Jacob Tonn We were very lucky to get production from everywhere in the lineup. The team played great together. We finished the round robin 6-2-2, good for the three seed. The top line had a combined 35 points through those 10 games. The second line had a total of 17 points. The defense also pitched in with 21 points. Goaltender Jacob Tonn was a brick wall in net, playing all our games and posting a stellar .940 save percentage and 2.42 goals-against average. The team only seemed to improve as the tourney went on, elevating their game in the playoffs. We opened up the playoffs against the #6 seeded Subway Rats, winning the series 4-1. The next series was versus the tough #2 team, the Gila Monsters. Ultimately, we won in 6 games. And FINALLY we had reached the gold medal series. We were not going to lose now. This series was for all the marbles. No surprise, we would have to play the best team in the round robin, the Yakov Smirnoffs with EVERYTHING on the line. We split the first two games, split the next two, and now it was a best-of-three. We wrapped things up in Game 6, and we were crowned champions of the Season 77 ProAm Tournament. Overall, I really enjoyed this tournament and am very thankful for getting the opportunity to GM a team. Congrats to all the players, and thank you all. Best of luck both this season and in the future. Thank you to my assistant GM, @Anomalijs, as well. Also, thank you to the people who make this possible each offseason, @PatrikLaine, @MexicanCow123, @Zetterberg, and @Ricer13. It is a great experience, and I would most certainly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played/managed in it yet. I look forward to playing again next offseason under someone new who's getting involved. Word count: 1005
