Darth Kaprizov reacted to Alex in VSN Presents: S85 Offseason Recap
Hi Everyone, and welcome to the VSN Season 85 Offseason Recap! In this article we will recap all the offseason moves made by every team. In addition to this we will have a VHL Season update article coming out later today.

    Written by: VSN Scouting ( @N0HBDY, @badcolethetitan, and @Doomsday)
Graphics by: @N0HBDY and @v.2  (backgrounds)

This offseason Chicago re-signed most of their expiring players and made one major trade to help bring the team into a prime competiting position. That trade brought in depth defenseman Juice Box and goaltender Cole Pearce @N0HBDY from London. The Phoenix still with only a 5-4-1 roster will likely be on the hunt for that final forward to complete this star studded Chicago team.     Calgary came out of the offseason having been pretty quiet with their only trades being during the draft. Their only real major move was drafting defenseman Phil Strasmore @Phil and calling them up right up. Otherwise Calgary mainly focused internally by locking up many of its players for multi-season deals, those players being Landon Wolanin @jacobcarson877, Leandro Goncalves @leandrofg, and AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment.     Davos’s offseason was relatively quiet with the Dynamo focusing on its younger players and locking them out for a couple more seasons, some less than others, but those players being Siyan Yasilievich@badcolethetitan, Pete Mitchell @Crstats23, and Jake Thunder @Thunder. Their only major moves were acquiring veteran Alex Johnston @Alex who’s on his last season for the cheap price of a third round pick, then signing goaltender David Davis @Josh for another season but no more than that per Davis’s demands.     D.C has filled out it's roster through calling up some of it's prospects and adding 3 players through free agency and trades. Coming in through a trade from Riga is forward Darth Kaprizov @Darth Kaprizov who is a huge addition along with free agency signings Nezuko @Baozi and Milan Dvorak @solas. The Dragons rock a 6-4-1 roster and 500k still available in cap space.     Helsinki this offseason was very quiet, some might say that they were too quiet. Well, with their GM going MIA and nobody being able to step in the helm, eventually their AGM took over and was able to make a few moves to try to salvage the disaster that is Helsinki. This team right now has two defenseman, a superstar goalie, and six forwards, which to be honest, isn’t as bad as it seemed. However, this team only made three moves, signing a couple players to just be able to compete. The best move they have had was signing Cobalt Burns @Ledge and getting him on board long term. Regardless, this team is in shambles and this season it’ll be very interesting to see what happens.     The Stars are making the most of the newly expanded salary cap with an 8-4-1 roster. The only way they brought in players was through the trade market which they managed to grab Brian Kowalski @Wheaties, Jason Argos @Insypher, and Sirdvaldis Miglaskems @FrostBeard. A relatively young roster that is entirely signed through S86 with no real long term commitments being made currently. Though with many highly prospective players to come up in the future such as Sebastien Dokis @Sebastien, Todd Cooke, and Reno Reinhold @Reno.     London started their offseaon by re-signing depth skaters Branden Skuin @DrunkMonkey23 and Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450, while also trading away Juice Box @Siddhus and Cole Pearce @N0HBDY for a 1st. Finally moving into free agency the United managed to sign veteran Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123 and a younger Kakapo Bushtit @Esso2264 to finish out their 6-4-1 roster.     The Nighthawks were making moves from trading to signing player in free agency. Malmo brought in four players through trade, those players being Donny Carter @TheNeonShaman, Bob Chicoine @PoignardLeclerc11, Jakub Brozik @Viper, and Max Torq @Steve. Even after bringing in those four players they signed Bogdan Trunov @qripll from free agency and called up Noodles Marconi @Eynhallow to finish with a 6-4-2 roster.     The Menace stayed true to their roots this offseason with their priority being re-signing franchise goaltender Papa Emeritus @Beketov for what is now the rest of his career. Moscow acquired two players by trade, Jannik Nylen @DreMin15 and Robert Wilk @Tomat0 who will fill out the roster and hope to hang onto a competitive role.     New York was a lot like Malmo this offseason and have ended up piecing together a decent roster. Three prospects will join the Americans, Malum Maellard @frescoelmo, Doug Matchett @jacobaa19 and Daniel Weaver @ThePerfectNut. Three more players will come in from free agency, veteran Henri le Massif @Garsh, Poopy Peepants @JardyB10, and Taylor Mourning @scoop will join the Americans and beef up their front line talent. Lastly coming in from a trade is Weenuk Warrior @KnightRiley to finish out the New York 6-4-1 roster.     Prague this offseason has been continuing their rebuild, with signing most of their prospects to their entry level contracts. I still think it’s going to take maybe one more season for Prague to be able to at least play some meaningful games, but they are taking a step in the right direction. One player I want to point out is Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide, who is a very active player and he will help bring life to the locker room. The future is bright for Prague and if they continue what they’ve been doing, they should be competing in no time.     Heading into this offseason Riga was looking to move into a rebuilding phase for the franchise. Through mainly free agency the Reign were able to piece together a roster of whatever they could get. Riga has obtained a decent amount of valuable picks which will come in handy to replace the majority of it's players who are set to retire in the next couple of seasons. Through free agency Riga brought in Bob Beach @Big Bob, Phoebe Bridgers @GrittyIsKing, Julia Waffles @Edustava, Ashton Komaryk @Komaryk, and Tyler Reinhart @Zetterberg. The last of it's incoming players came through trade where the Reign acquired Daniel Clarke @Danzo and John Baard @Birdman for a 6-4-1 roster.     Seattle went into the offseason over cap and needing to dump some of it's player's and got just that from Malmo and Los Angeles. Seattle dumped two high payroll players and filled them in with incoming prospects Chip Stone @DoktorFunk and Velociraptor Greg @samx. The Bears also signed one player through free agency, Calix Pearce @Laine, to fill out their defenseman and have a final 5-4-1 roster.     Toronto had a lot of rostered players before this offseason and needed to unload a couple more players on top of the ones that were expiring. The Legion traded 3 players for picks in the draft this past offseason. After the outgoing players Toronto then brought up 5 of its prospects, Harry Hagel@jasplunds, Calen McKay @Kendrick, Cole Caufield Jr @weekz, Alessio Simeoni @Alesime, and Tyler Busser @lil OG z. Toronto continues to run with its trend of having a young roster in recent seasons and shows it with a 7-4-1 roster.     Vancouver was making moves this offseason, through trades, free agency, and drafting the team has exploded into a competitive role once again after only a couple of seasons. The Wolves signed two notable players this offseason, Nico Pearce @Spartan being the first notable player to sign to Vancouver for a single season deal along with an NTC. The second notable player is veteran Anze Miklavz @kelvi who is on their last season but will have a huge impact for the Wolves roster. Vancouver also called up prospect Henry Eagles @Greg_Di after drafting him just this past offseason. Lastly to complete the roster through trades they also brought in Nathan Powers @JB123, Biggie Cheese @a_Ferk, and Alexander Leduc @Lemorse7.     Warsaw was kind of a one touch of each category this offseason, they dipped their toe into the free agency pool, trading pool, and the prospect pool each one time. After leaving for free agency Warsaw signed Har Singh Nalwa @Dil. Through trading the Predators brought Johnny Xavier @Johnny_HX. Lastly through the prospect pool Warsaw called up Sock Monkey @chikn to fill out whatever they can of the roster which is now a 6-3-1.

    Hi Sadie,

I've looked at a couple of your graphics and you are doing some nice work, keep it up.  On this John Richards graphic, I really like the mirroring effect you used with the multiple colors.  A couple things to work on to help move your graphics to the next level would be to 1. In the area between the elbow and stick try removing the white area so the background shines thru and 2. I know this one is challenging but removing the original last name and adding the VHL players last name on the jersey would be great.  Overall, great work, I wish some of my initial attempts were this solid.  7.5 out of 10

    S83 VHL Third Featured Game

We are back for another session of our Season 83 VHL Featured Games. For our third featured game of Season 83 in the VHL, we have Season Game #312, a matchup between the visiting Malmo Nighthawks and the home team, Prague Phantoms. This Pro Day 79 game was one of high tempo and feistiness, with neither teams' goaltenders doing well in this game.

Mason Jones @Masu Chan breaks the ice and opens the scoring for the Malmo Nighthawks 4:33 into the first period. (Mason) Jones' 6th of the season. Baby Bob @Baby Boomer ties up the game 1 - 1 for the Prague Phantoms with their 18th of the season at 8:19, and then Druss Deathwalker @animal74 reclaims the lead for the Nighthawks at 12:30 with their 21st goal of Season 83. And then the game action got rough… it all started with a Roughing minor penalty by Prague Phantoms' Asher Reinhart @rjfryman at 14:18 of the first period. Things got spicier and feistier as the period went on, until everything escalated to a climax at 19:13, the last minute of play of the first period.

Luc Tessier (PRG) @KC15 for Fighting (Major) at 19:13, Dabnad Shaw (MAL) @Dabnad for Fighting (Major) at 19:13, Luc Tessier (PRG) for instigated a fight (Game Misconduct) at 19:13, Darth Kaprizov (PRG) @Darth Kaprizov for Fighting (Major) at 19:13, Igor Molotov (MAL) @Dom for Fighting (Major) at 19:13, Igor Molotov (MAL) for instigated a fight (Game Misconduct) at 19:13, Nathan Powers (PRG)  @JB123 for Slashing (Minor) at 19:13, Asher Reinhart (PRG) for Roughing (Minor) at 19:13, Miroslav Tsarov (MAL) @PadStack for Roughing (Minor) at 19:13, Obi Adesanya (MAL) @atw2592 for Slashing (Minor) at 19:13, Baby Bob (PRG) for Hooking (Minor) at 19:13. (Editor's note: what the heck happened here!?! We basically had a line brawl and with all the Slashing minors, did we have a lightsaber duel or something? Kind of late to be celebrating Star Wars day!)

First period ended with the Malmo Nighthawks leading 2 - 1 against the Prague Phantoms from a 11 to 5 shot on goal effort. The Prague Phantoms had an additional man in the penalty box to end the period, giving the Nighthawks a power play to start heading into the second period.

Nathaniel Minion @Minion cashes in on the end of first period fiasco for the Malmo Nighthawks to give the Nighthawks a 3 - 1 at 0:26 into the second period. (Nathaniel) Minion's 18th goal of the season, a power play goal. Darth Kaprizov charges out of the penalty box after serving their Fighting major at 4:13 for their first shift since the end of the first period. (Darth) Kaprizov was in a very foul mood after taken a beat down from (Igor) Molotov and decided to take out their frustration with a Roughing minor penalty at 4:31. Back to the penalty box goes (Darth) Kaprizov. A much needed time out to cool off and think about what an idiot move that was to need to return to "jail". Nathaniel Minion extends the NightHawks' lead to 4 - 1 with their 19th of the season and second of the game at 10:23 into the second period, and then Druss Deathwalker follows suit with their second of the night as well, giving the Nighthawks a commanding 5 - 1 lead just over 2 minutes after (Nathaniel) Minion's goal at 12:24. This is (Druss) Deathwalker's team leading 22nd of the season. The game finally settles down after this as the fans became quiet as mice after the roaring frenzy of the first period. The Malmo Nighthawks lead 5 - 1 over the Prague Phantoms as they head into the second intermission. Nighthawks outshot the Phantoms 12 to 9 in the second period.

As a veteran VHL team playing at home in front of their hometown fans, the Prague Phantoms did not give up and tried their best to stage a comeback with their experience and poise. Asher Reinhart tried to redeem themselves by scoring their 11th of the season at 5:39 into the third period. A shorthanded goal for the Phantoms, while (Nathan) Powers sat quietly in the penalty box for an Interference minor taken at 4:56 in the third period. Baby Bob scores their second of the night and 19th of the season to make it a 5 - 3 game cutting down the Nighthawks lead to 2 for Prague Phantoms. However this is as far as they go as the comeback comes back short even after a valiant third period effort by the Phantoms. The Prague Phantoms outshot the Malmo Nighthawks 17 to 8 in the third period to tie up the shot count at 31 to 31. Unfortunately for the Prague Phantoms, it was still too big of a hill to climb. The Malmo Nighthawks take it with 5 - 3 Victory.

Barry Taffe @Barry stops 28 of 31 shots for the Nighthawks to earn their 11th win of the season. David Davis @Josh backstopped 26 of 31 shots in the Prague Phantom loss.

3 Stars of the game (as voted by the broadcasting crew at the game)
    1 - Druss Deathwalker (MAL) - 2 goals, 2 assists, 4 points, 5 shots, 6 hits, +2
    2 - Nathaniel Minion (MAL) - 2 goals, 6 shots, 1 hit, +3
    3 - Mason Jones (MAL) - 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points, 6 shots, +2

    Honourably Mentioned and Editor Notes:

    ·        Baby Bob (PRG) had 2 goals, 5 shots, 3 hits, and was a +2
    ·        Perry Laperriere (PRG) @KaleebtheMighty won 22 of 34 face offs (64.7%)
    ·        Malmo Nighthawks were perfect on the Penalty Kill, stopping 1 for 1 and scored 1 power play goal (1 for 5, 20% PP efficiency)
    ·        First Period 19:13 fiasco was called for as a General Fight
Luc Tessier (PRG) and Dabnad Shaw (MAL) fight to a draw

5). No, that's not something I normally go for. I'm good with my gloves throughout the game as is.
6). Orange juice was always a big one, plus a pickle. Yes I know it's weird but it worked (at least I thought it did lol).

This time around we only have one game for your reading pleasure.

    8-1
And when we say 'reading pleasure' we actually mean torture, as the Phantoms went to town and blasted the Wranglers in unanimous 8-1 win. One could say the derphorses were taken to the glue factory, it was that bad. The Czech forwards had a field day with the Albertan defence and scored at will. Actually, we were surprised that Blazevicius did not do a Roy and quit midway into the game, as Ricer refused to relieve his unenviable netminder. Johnson saved at least some of the Wranglers' dignity when he scored five minutes into the game when his team was already 2-0 down, and hence denied Davis the shutout. On one hand we would like to spread a cover of silence over this shambles, but on the other hand we feel it is our journalistic duty, to truthfully report the news in its full glory. It needs to be said that the shot statistics speaks a slightly less brutal language than the score board with 46-31 shots in favour of Prague. However, Calgary did not have puck luck nor the bounces and were skinned alive by a very efficient (and sometimes lucky) Czech team. It will surprise none of our knowledgable readers that all the places of honour were occupied by Phantoms, namely Kaprizov (2g/2a), Bob (3g/0a) and Asher Reinhart (0g/5a). Davis with his .968 did not even make the shortlist, despite an all star worthy performance and a clear knock out win against his opposite number Blazevicius (.826). The power play was once more inadequate (0/2) and the box play not much better (4/6). However, we deem that in this case, this was not decisive to the outcome of the match.
    Daniel was noted with 0g, 0a, -4, 2 PIM (Hooking, no goal against), 3 hits, 4sb and 48.78 FO%

The Jansers' stats so far in this season are as follows:
    Marcel: 16gp, 3g, 7a, 10pts, +6, 34 PIM, 29 hits, 17sb, 2gwg, 2ppg
    Daniel: 16gp, 5g, 2a, 7pts, -4, 15 PIM, 30 hits, 18sb, 1gwg, 2ppg and 58.19 FO%

    Stay tuned for further updates.

1). Absolutely, time for Prague to kill it!
2). Faceoffs and Strength, gotta get that percentage higher to help the team.
3). Back in Istanbul, the small amount of time I played there, the Red Menace just reeked in net. I don't think he knew what deodorant or body wash was when he would shower after games 🤮
5). I did! It gave me some good direction on what to focus on and how I could adapt to the new system.
6). I feel pretty comfortable with what I have no, I don't see a need to rebuild my player.
7). I'd say a puma/mountain lion. Doesn't quite make a ton of noise but when they do, they do it efficiently and quickly. Laperriere may not be the best goal scorer, but he does his center job well and when needed, he will contribute.

1). Just trying to figure out what is going to click with the new hybrid system!
2). I'd like to think I'll do ok. I am curious if I will find as great of a success compared to my previous build. Might not score as many points, but as long as my faceoff percentage is high and my +/- is good, I'm set.
3). To be perfectly honest, with the new hybrid system, I think it will be really tough to tell until we all start playing against each other.
4). Probably Minnesota, I have a gut feeling they are going to hit a stride right at the end and get in. But I could very well be wrong.
6). My assumption would be Reylynn Reinhart.
7). Free and cold 😎 but a specific one that I always turn to would be Labatt Blue.

Darth Kaprizov reacted to Alex in VSN Presents: S82 VHL Awards
The Kevin Brooks trophy is awarded to the player(s) who leads the league in scoring at the end of the regular season. Notably this season we saw 6 players within 4 goals of the lead, the closest margin we have seen in a while, these players were: score over 60 goals which may have been enough to win in most other seasons, these players were: Reylynn Reinhart @Ricer13, Alex Johnston @Alex, Dan Dan @MMFLEX, Jerome Reinhart @MexicanCow123, Taylor Mourning @scoop, and Darth Kaprizov @Darth Kaprizov. Although there was a tight race at times 1 player took the win on the final sim of the season by scoring their 60th goal of the season, putting them one goal ahead of the runners-up, establishing themselves as the S82 VHL leading goal scorer:
    Darth Kaprizov!

    Congratulations Darth Kaprizov!
