Calgary Wranglers press conference
Daniel Janser replied to diamond_ace's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. Rather chilled, fine dining with the family, but nothing out of the ordinary. 2. I hope we do not repeat the regular season experience where we lost ten or so in a row after a winning streak. But I think we will carry on, I cannot see a reason why not. @Vatseems to be on a mission. 3. If you want to win the cup you need to beat all the other teams. It doesn't matter who we will play. 'My' IRL Club had their nemesis as the first opponent in the playoffs and it was the hardest series of them all. Once we beat them, it was a downhill race for us. 4. 69 points total, do I need to say more? 5. I do not put expectations on other players, (though I am disappointed that @Phil got soft and did not reach 400 hits) 6. Everything to be honest... well except that @WranglersSuck dragged me into an other forum based league... damn you Ricer! 7. Getting that STHS luck. 8. I did not look into this, but I would assume that the increase of meta players may contribute to that. 9. I think we need help/replacement in the forward as well as in the defence department, with some players approaching retirement age. And I am the only prospect skater who is not a multi or a rather slow earner. 10. No, I have not (or not sufficiently to make a statement). 11. not much; watched 'Dinner for one' and fired some fireworks, my wife had to work that night, so not too much going on... 12. to have no resolution. Since I did not take one, it is mission accomplished already and I can rest on my laurels for the remainder of the year. -
I guess Fishy's approach is way more healthy than getting hammered like I used to do when I was in adolescence... not very successful either as my mom considered it as part of growing up and my dad just said 'Well, you will be the one to do all the puking and suffering through headaches, good luck with that'... so yeah, good job @fishy for not being as stupid as I was (or maybe still am, who knows)...
-
We watch 'Dinner for One' every NYE but that is about it. I think Swiss television broadcasts the President's New Year's speech, but I have never listened to/watched it, as I do not give a (enter profanity of your choice). We rather watch the fireworks outside and have some smores on the open fire...

Sure it is 'easier' to get high percentage if you face more shots, as the percentage is more refined with increasing sample size... The challenge one faces with STHS shot stats (and I am leaning out of the window here, so please correct me if I am wrong), is that there is no seperation of high danger shots and Hail Mary attempts.... i.e. it records only quantity and not quality... this is the same in the NHL afaik. However, there we have the visual and can see when a goal keeper is dragging his kicking and screaming team mates to a win, when he just saves anything there is to save and a lot he had no right to clear... either live in the stadium, in the telly or in Highlight reels... The point I was trying to make, was that Scoop apparently used the argument 'saving rate went up , because better defence' and in the next sentence 'saving rate went up, because of worse defence'... Lets take an example from real live: The Buffalo Sabres were a... how do I put this politely... non-competitive team in the nineties, losing more games then they won... they had one of the worst defence in the league, yet Hasek won all of his 5 Vezina's playing for them... so clearly hockey experts value a good performance behind a sloppy defence more than a good performance behind an all star defence.
-
Indeed, if I understand it correctly, scoop seems to make the argument that one goalie should be dismissed, because his saving rate went up, playing behind a more competitive defence and in the next sentence he argues an other goalie should be dismissed, improving his save rating, due to having played behind a sieve of a defence and therefore facing more shots... My opinion is the same as Shindigs' it is easier to save a high percentage with a low shot count than with a high shot count... After all in what match is one rather bound to have a shutout? In a game facing one single shot or one where one has to clear 100 shots? I am aware that this is an extreme example, but I think it helps to elaborate my point (and is not any the worse for it)...

MiniFubbles Ep. 1 - The Big Multi Question Answered!
Daniel Janser replied to MubbleFubbles's topic in VHL.com Radio
She probably could comment on paint dry on the wall and she would get the rates tbh. -
I do not quite agree. Having multis is an objective standard, there is not much room left for interpretation. Being harassed is most of the time a subjective feeling. That does not mean that I support any harassment in any way, shape or form. For example if I were to call my brother names in the forums or discord, he knows I am just pulling his leg, we have done that for close to thirty years (I am aware that this might not be the most healthy behaviour but this is beside the point). In an other instance, I used a very common word, which has no inherent condescending or otherwise negative meaning that I am aware of (to the contrary, afaik it is a word to express sympathy or affection) in a conversation with the conning artist formerly known as Horcrux. Which they called out and asked me not to use again. I said my apologies, assured it was not meant as an insult and that I will respect their wish to not use that word anymore when talking to them. As to first offenders: How is creating six! additional accounts spread out over a considerable amount of time a first offense? The first multi-account, yes I can see that. But every time, a user creates an account/player, they agree not to open an additional one. I am aware that this is not a court room and I do believe in second chances per se. Having said that, if I do not know a specific law in my private life and am in violation of same, I will be held responsible for said violation and the feeble excuse 'I did not know it' will be answered with 'Well, you should have' and will do jack all for my case. I am not advocating now for harsher punishments, the damage is done, the sentence given. Let's move on. I do think Shindigs suggestion to compensate franchises who wasted a pick to acquire the rights of one or even several multis should be somewhat compensated for the loss of the respective pick. However, I see challenges for that, as now all the other clubs who get 'pushed' back with their picks are not to blame either and get worse picks if additional 'compensation picks' were created... quite a pickle here...

That and the lack of their favourite food, Chicken Nuggets, which were only available in the tiniest amounts at the time...

and because they have something resembling hands they are able to apply Clue Glue which definitely gives them an edge in every aspect of life...

Swiss Central Gazzette (Marcel's stats/Daniel's stats) Welcome back to our series about our local hockey exports after the Holiday break. Marcel's @Morcar80 Hounds had some catching up to do and played three games. The first game was against the Marlins and was won 4-1. McMuffin @Ente2997 (Nine, Bob) scored the only goal in the first period for a 1-0 lead. He double dipped in the second, assisted by Janser. His efforts were joined by goals from Jeffers @Tophdaddy (Janser, Bob) and Lamb @dlamb (Teekirque) for a 4-0 lead into the third. San Diego could pull one back, but were otherwise shut down by the Ontario team. The three stars were Bob @M0XI (0g/2a), Arpa @16z ( 40 saves) and McMuffin (2g/0a). Utonium (.821) had no chance against an almost flawless Arpa (.976) in the Hounds' net. Mississauga's powerplay was lacklustre (0/2) while their penalty kill was impeccable (4/4). Marcel had 0g, 2a, +3 and 3sb to his name The second match was against the Ottawa Lynx and ended in 5-4 OT win. Ottawa scored the only goal in the first on a power play, which Bridgers @GrittyIsKing (Eli, Teekirque) equalized. But Ottawa would not be defied and went ahead 2-1 before the period ended, again with a one player advantage. In the third, Mississauga scored two back-to-back goals by Bridgers (Lamb, Teekirque) in one of their power plays and Hextall @Jack Feriancek (Nine, McMuffin) at even strength. However, there was enough time left for the Lynx to draw the score and take the game to sudden death. Same was dealt by Teekirque @Mongoose87 (TenIQIsGod) at the 2:48 minute mark. Bridgers (2g/0a), Teekirque (1g/2a) and Hextall (1g/0a) were named the three stars of the night. Arpa (.917) had the better of Nu @npuBeT (.789) by quite a margin. The Hounds' power play was above average (1/3) and their penalty kill (14/16) saved the day for the for once discipline lacking Canadian outfit. Marcel logged 0g, 0a, +1 and 6sb The third encounter was against the Saskatoon Wild and ended in a 5-4 SO loss. Mississauga took an early lead by Teekirque (Lamb, Eli) but conceded two goals, to lose the first period 2-1. The Hounds came back with two unanswered goals by Lamb (Teekirque) and Bushtit (Bridgers, Teekirque) to get a 3-2 lead going into the third period. Alas, the Wild scored two consecutive goals to get one ahead, with less than two minutes on the clock. It was McMuffin (Janser, Nine) who equalized the score to take the game into OT, less than one minute before the end of regulation time. The sudden death did not bring a winner so the shootout bingo had to decide, where the Wild kept their nerve and came out on top. The three stars were awarded to Buffy @Strider (1g/3a), Teekirque (1g/2a) and Taylor @NyQuil (1g/2a). Arpa (.846) and Dubnyk @ThatsGreissy (.857) competed on a rather mediocre level with the edge being on the Canadian's side. The Ontarians' power play was poor (0/4) but what was somewhat compensated by the better than average box play (5/6). Marcel recorded 0g, 0a, +0 and 3sb Daniel's Red Wolves played Cologne in a 4-3 OT win. Cologne took the first period 2-0, but Istanbul had three consecutive goals by Heavems @RstortonYT (Kman, Li), Power @Tape-to-Tape (Li, Hogan) in power play and Dasher @Slick (Janser, Hogan) in the second. The Express tied the game with a power play goal in the third and took the game in to overtime. It was Heavems (Hogan) who delivered the coup de grace after 2:59 minutes. The three stars went to Zucarello @Battlepopcorn (2g/0a), Heavems (2g/0a) and Hogan @FonziGG (0g/3a). Fleury @Kuba-Fleury(.923) had a better save percentage than Menace @NickSunderbruch (.909), but faced significantly more shots (52 vs 33) that even his world class performance was not enough to carry his team to victory. The Turks' power play was good (1/2) and their penalty kill adequate (3/4). Daniel had 0g, 1a, +0 and 2 hits The second game saw an 8-3 Istanbul win over the Geneva Rush. The Red Wolves won the first period 3-1 with goals by Waffles @Edustava (Tsarov, Heavems) in power play, Wilson @LeBron Jamezz (Zabastovka, Bonaparte) also on a one player advantage and Bonaparte @CptSquall (Tsarov, Waffles). The second period went 3-1 again to Istanbul, this time Zabastovka @DarkSpyro (Wilson, Waffles) in power play, Heavems (Li, Power) again one player up and Li (Power) during yet another Geneva penalty were succesful for the Red Shirts. The final period went 2-1 to the Turks and Wilson (Waffles, Zabastovka) and Heavems (Hogan, Li) provided the scoring for the Istanbul team. Heavems (2g/1a), Waffles (1g/3a) and Bonaparte (1g/1a) were put in the lime light as the three stars. Menace (.906) was better than either of the two Swiss netminders with .893 and .783 respectively. The power play was strong in this one (5/10) and the penalty killing was hardly tested, yet allowed one goal against all the same (1/3). Daniel was credited with 0g, 0a and -1 The brothers stand now at the following stats: Marcel: 62gp, 8g, 43a, 51pts, -25, 28 PIM, 58 hits, 110sb, 1gwg, 6ppg Daniel: 62gp, 26g, 40a, 66pts, -16, 91 PIM, 202 hits, 31sb, 4gwg, 5ppg Stay tuned for further updates on our intrepid heroes' progress. https://vhlforum.com/topic/113607-oslist-s81/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/113629-a-tale-of-two-brothers-goodbyes/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/113687-a-tale-of-two-brothers-a-good-start/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/113721-a-tale-of-two-brothers-final-quarter/ https://vhlforum.com/topic/113795-a-tale-of-two-brothers-inconsistent-performances/ GM 299: Mississauga Hounds vs. San Diego Marlins (vhlportal.com) GM 304: Ottawa Lynx vs. Mississauga Hounds (vhlportal.com) GM 309: Mississauga Hounds vs. Saskatoon Wild (vhlportal.com) GM 243: Cologne Express vs. Istanbul Red Wolves (vhlportal.com) GM 248: Istanbul Red Wolves vs. Geneva Rush (vhlportal.com)

1. No, dropping the glove is reserved for unclean hits/cheap shots which the refs did not see/call. Or attacks on the GK. 2. No, my player holds it like the legendary Dale McCourt, it is part of the job and expected of you. Clerks do not do a victory dance everytime they booked an invoice either. 3. No, I think that is a bad idea, especially if one of the teams has to deal with absences/injuries. 4. The horn of a 18 wheeler followed by 'Thunderstruck' from AC/DC 5. I think positioning is probably the most important trait, as you can compensate lack of reflexes with great positioning (to a certain extent) but no amount of reflex will help you if you are simply on the wrong place at the wrong time 6. No, 3v3 is okay... -
Review: Your latest attempt is by far the best in my opinion. Logo swap looks decent to me. I think you should have changed the background colour to something not red (or black for that matter) as it kind of melts foreground and background in one another... also there is no indication what we are looking at (my guess is leadership team, but one cannot know). 6/10
-
That is what I understood... TPE = Cash, TPA = Goods... there is no limitation in that scenario for the goods, though. Which kind of renders the inflation argument moot, because inflation only happens if the goods flow is limited... but in this scenario it is not. You can convert all your TPE into skill points without any limitations (well as long as you have TPE to convert) and the TPA are not going to be more expensive because there are more TPE to be had during the events. The cost for upgrading your player remain the same (well apart from the progression, but same is there independent on how many players are going to upgrade)... so the league is not going to say 'Sorry Dabnad, you cannot upgrade scoring anymore, because all 500 points available for Scoring this week have already been taken by other players, we can offer you leadership instead'. There is no shortage (or limit) on skill points.... there are as many available as people want to/can afford to buy... what may happen (but I doubt it) in the long run is that there are so many maxxed players that the VHL cannot employ all of them because of the salary cap... that would be an other story though (and as I said unlikely, as the 20 odd free TPE we got, generous as they are, will not make a huge difference in your career, if you take into consideration, that one skill point to bring scoring (or any other trait for that matter) from 95 to 96 costs you 10 TPE)...
-
Did you not compare the TPE influx with Money? You need to separate the goods flow from the cash flow, otherwise your model will not work (or at least that is what I understand from the little economics I had taught to me all these decades ago)...
-
I think, you are elaborating craftly how this works, and if 'goods' in VHL were limited as you suggest, it would be a perfect example of how inflation works. Alas, 'goods' are the skill points you buy for your TPE... and there is no limited supply of these... it is not that the VHL tells you 'sorry, already 100 people have bought PH, the supply is depleted, try again next week'. Therefore, I think your comparison is somewhat flawed (though I am not a an economist by any means and might be wrong here.
