So we have a late drive. @N0HBDY and a few others that I will list. Will do a collective VHL Holiday album. Have you ever wanted to hear Dil and Cow sing baby it's cold outside? Maybe Hogan sing Holly Jolly Christmas? Now is your chance

    Stretch Goals:

    $25 @jRuutu - A Christmas Poem
$50 @N0HBDY- The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
    $75 @rory  - Silent Night
    $100 @Hogan - Holly Jolly Christmas
$125 @Gustav  -  Guitar Performance of My Favorite Things
    $150 @FrostBeard- White Christmas
    $175 @Dil @MexicanCow123 - Baby It's Cold Outside
$200 @Dookie420 - Santa Claus is Coming to Town
$225 @JardyB10 - Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

@Members Since this is a late addition...

This is it's own auction item. Any bids on this item goes to the holiday drive but not the reverse.

    Updated: Added some more levels.

    It's how I do.

Also you can't really blame anyone involved for this trade, other than me. Since I did demand a trade. That always puts management in an awful position and at the time getting a 1st + 2nd back for a largely unproven 1st gen was realistically the most anyone could ask for.

That being said, in hindsight, it's a pretty brutal trade.

At least until we reach the point where trading Bo away becomes the correct move for Chicago, at which point I'll happily waive my NTC. That is indeed the plan.

This pretty much matches up with how I "felt" like it works, dmen (beyond 1 high TPE per unit) barely matter in the regular season, but if you don't have them in the playoffs you are usually in a world of hurt, somewhat similar with very low TPE goalies.

Something that's been brought up over this season because of the Chicago Phoenix's strong play up to the trade deadline is the effect of having BOTs in your starting lineup. Does having too many BOTs have the negatives that you would think having a 40 at everything player/s on your roster would have or do they get bypassed, basically boosting the involvement of the players playing with the BOTs? So one thing that I figured I'd test was, could a VHL "Dream Team" work in the VHL? Now making a 6-4-1 team of all of the best players in the VHL is impossible due to cap constraints as the vast majority of the best players in the league are in the $5.5 Million bracket and, with $42 Million dollars to play with, you're only going to be able to get a maximum of 7 players on that level of contract in the same team.

So what I did was I made a roster of 5 $5.5M forwards, 2 $5.5M defenseman and the Warsaw Predators goalie Wumbo (who is on $3.5M) to make a team that was right at the $42M cap and see how that team got on in a VHL environment.

    Notes before I begin:
    - Sim was executed 10 times with what I've been led to believe is the correct sliders that we use along with the 1.1 engine.
    - I had this new team (which I named GOAT) take the role of the Riga Reign since they were at the bottom of the standings at the time of the sims.
    - Instead of removing the players I wanted to add to GOAT from their original team, I kept them on their original team and made copies for them for GOAT. This was 1) To see how current teams fare in a simulation of the playoffs and 2) So that competing teams didn't lose the reasons they were competing. This does mean though that scoring does go slightly down though as, even with the BOTs, GOAT offers better defense than the Riga Reign (who actually have 3 BOTs in defense on their own now that I think about it).
    - All lines have been pulled from the index that was correct as of the last sim. The only thing that I didn't do was insert the mandatory 8 backup games, so, like the previous note the scoring will be lower because of the lack of BOTs playing in goal.

So this is the roster that I picked out:

(The image looks a little small on the preview, but if it's too small to read the roster is:
    Pearce - Janser - Lavelle
Leduc - Board Game - BOT

    Johansson - BOT
    Torq - BOT)

    So of the ten sims:

How many times did GOAT make the playoffs?

GOAT made it to the playoffs every time, although they certainly left it until the very last minute to make the playoffs at some point. In the spoilers, here's GOAT making it to the playoffs by just 2 points over another surprising team down that low, the Warsaw Predators

How many times did GOAT finish on top of the European Conference?
Of the ten test sims that I did, GOAT finished on top of the European Conference on five occasions, only just beating the Menace who led the conference in four of the ten sims with Prague finishing first in one of them. However, GOAT would not have won the most Victory Cups, as they only won that trophy in two of these ten sims with the Chicago Phoenix winning 4 out of the 10 Victory Cups, with the Wranglers (2) tying GOAT for Victory Cup wins and the Menace and the Dragons winning one Victory Cup each.

How well did GOAT do statistically?
The players on GOAT would have a pretty large impact on the top of the points leaderboard with every one of the ten sims having at least two on GOAT making it into the top ten in points. Perhaps the most impressive season was Bo Johansson finishing on top of the points standings with 106 points and an incredible 97 assists. A GOAT player led the league in points in four of the ten sims, but what's very interesting is that one player not on GOAT managed to lead the league in points on an incredible five different sims, Brendan Marner, with the other non GOAT-Marner winner being Landon Wolanin.

How many times did GOAT make the Continental Cup final?

Despite GOAT having the best success in the regular season, they could only make the Continental Cup final on two of the ten occasions that they had to make it.  London United and the Moscow Menace both had the highest success rate of eliminating GOAT, with both teams eliminating them from the playoffs three times each, along with one instance each where the Dynamo and the Phantoms knocked GOAT out.

How many times did GOAT win the Continental Cup?
GOAT didn't have many chances to win the Continental Cup only making the final twice, but they did wind up defeating the Wolves 4-1 in one Continental Cup final but ultimately lost the other 4-3 to the Phoenix. The most frequent winner of the Continental Cup were the Vancouver Wolves who won it on three occasions, followed by the Prague Phantoms and the Chicago Phoenix with 2 wins of the Continental Cup followed by lone wins for London United and the reigning champs the D.C. Dragons, so yes, even in a test-simming environment where they had good success in the regular season against a stacked team, the Moscow Menace does not win the Continental Cup I shit you not.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

So could a "Dream Team" work? Well the good thing is that there is no guaranteed success that would come from every good player gathering on the same team, and that's for the best really cause I think we'd prefer that teams filled out their roster than played BOTS. At the same time though, it does kind of show that the effect of having a 40 at everything bot play several minutes on your team does not have close to the negative impact that you think it would, as it seems like the best players can make up for having an absolute turnip or two on their line.

If there's any other info from these sims you'd like to know about lemme know as I have the appropriate outputs saved so can get back to you.

Shindigs got a reaction from Arce in B-CHI D1 thanks Juan Ceson for elite BOT training.
While in the middle of having the two-way career of it's life, in an interview with VHL press the now famous bot B-CHI D1 shared the secret to its incredibly successful season, that sees it sitting in the top 5 for +/- in the entire league. It turns out that in the off-season it attended Juan Ceson's Bot training program based out of the Juan Ceson Practice Facility in Las Vegas. A program that's seen success stories like the Mississauga defense from the S84 regular season and reportedly also a certain Warsaw bot of legend through it's ranks earlier.

When asked about what exactly happens inside the facility that makes all bots that attend it so elite, Juan Ceson refused to comment and his manger Captain Best Bot Ever @dylanjj37 simply replied by pretending to be dead for about 3 days straight. So we're none the wiser as to what secret techniques are being applied in Vegas to bring bots up to these unthinkable levels of play. Though rumor has it the infamous substance Clue Glue™ has some part in the process.

    Howdy people!

It has been a bit since FrostBeard has posted anything like this in Media spots but here we are.

    My last season in Bratislava

It is really interesting that my last post about stepping down from a GM position was back in Februrary 8 of 2021. Back then I was a GM of Malmo Nighthawks and understood that my political campaigning took a bit too much away from my free time so I couldn't fullfil my GM job requirements for the forseeable future so decided to step down.

You might think that we are talking about similar situation right now.

Yes, probably many of you know that this is my last season as Bratislava Watchmen GM.
Yes, I am stepping down due to my free will and because I feel like it is a good time to stop.
No, I am not leaving the league - even more than that - I am here to show the league that I am more than ready to again go back to being a VHL GM.

My time in VHLE has been incredible. Getting selected as one of the founding GM's for a new endevour was absolutely breathtaking. Taking up a team that has such a history with another Latvian GM is amazing. I couldn't ask for a better situation and having people like @Acydburnand @Victoras the 2 Commissioners there was absolutely amazing. With many changes, GMs moving out and leaving job posts, I have become the "Old man" of the VHLE. I kinda did setup myself a goal that this is going to be a stepping stone for returning back to VHL GMing. Right now however I do feel I want to give this position to someone who wants to be a VHLE GM right now, who wants to get that awesome experience to trade, draft, figure out the future of the great Watchmen franchise.

Throughout these last 7 seasons (8 if you count in the S79 Tournament) I have had my ups and downs, have had wonderful AGM's - especially my good friends - @Shindigs and @leandrofg who I hope managed to learn something from me, though I highly doubt that as they were incredibly intelligent, knowing and amazing instantly when they joined in. I didn't really think I will need to trade so much away to have a competitive season but here we are - a new thing for the people to see - FrostBeard trading away all the draft picks (Yes, I am not even joking) but at least there should be players that could get some of that back next season.

Basically, this whole post could have been a simple - Yes, I am leaving this postition, probably will try to go for an AGM position in VHL at some point soon, hoping for some good luck in the future GM applications but honestly, here we are. All that said, I am not really good at making these small posts so I have few people to say huge thanks to in these last 7 to 8 seasons in VHLE.

First of all - to my fellow VHLE GMs, especially to the ones who are in VHL - @InstantRockstar, @thadthrasher, @Dil and @KaleebtheMighty - you are absolutely breathtaking and to me trading and having opportunities to work with you was an absolute charm - you are amazing individuals and I do hope to see many cups raised by LA, NY, London and Malmo. To my current GM friends - good luck, this season is amazing with how many teams are ready to compete - let's make it fun for our players as in the end - they are the reasons why we are here!

To people who have been pushing me to higher standarts - my dear AGMs @Shindigs and @leandrofg - you have achieved so much just by yourselves that all I can say is that without you both, Bratislava wouldn't be the same, you made it home, you made it awesome and you made sure that people valued what Bratislava name meant. You keep impressing me with your amazing work ethic and you keep pushing harder and harder to a point that I don't even know if I will ever be able to keep up.

To my amazing Bratislava players and alumni - I am not going to name anyone here specifically as all of you are a standard of excellence. Every single one of you is a Rolex. A standard of luxury and quality. You were amazing and I hope to have a chance to enjoy the VHL community together with you all and heck, maybe someday again have a chance to GM you.

    Thank you VHLE.
