Calgary Wranglers press conference
Tetricide replied to diamond_ace's topic in Team Press Conferences
Calgary Wranglers Press Conference Week Ending February 12, 2023 1. Lindbergh was a mad man in the game against the LA Stars! Do you think we can help him get at least 10 more shutouts before the season ends? 2. As of this post, we're 3rd overall in the standings with 23 games played. We're almost a 3rd of the way through the season already... Do you think we can overtake the #1 position at this rate? 3. Went to a shootout against Helsinki, who is at the bottom of the standings... We won, but scary that it had lasted so long to take home the W. What could we do better next time? 4. Does your player do anything before the game for luck? 5. Chocolate milk or orange juice? 6. Did you watch any of the NHL All Star events? -

Calgary Wranglers Press Conference Week ending February 5, 2023 1. What's up Wranglers! We had a kind of rocky start to the season, but as of this post we're on a 7-game win streak! The GMs made some necessary line changes that was apparently exactly what we needed break through the funk. How are we lookin now? 2. Also as of this post, our very own Larry Abass Jr.@RileyL is currently sitting at the top of the rookie leaders board! How possible do you think it is that he makes rookie of the year? 3. Daniel Janser @Daniel Janseris also on a few leaderboards, but is currently #1 overall for Forwards. What do you think he puts in his water bottle? 4. Oskar Lindbergh @Doomsday, our one true goalie, is also on the leaderboards. In a 3-way-tie for 1st place in shutouts and 3rd in wins. Sitting at .918 GAA, how can we help raise that number, the shutouts, and continue winning? 5. Why is the rum always gone? 6. How is/are your sport(s) team(s) doing? -

1 - Are you still masking when you go out? Not at all. Even when I was masked up I managed to get sick twice, but that's not why I don't anymore. 2 - Does your player have a pet? His family has always had 2 - 3 Lapponian herders for their livestock. 3 - If you could change your team's name/logo, what would you do? For Calgary, the only thing I think *may be* worth changing is the orientation of the horseshoe to make it resemble the letter "C". I absolutely love the logo though regardless. For Prague, I'm not really sure. "Phantoms" is pretty unique and so is the logo, but it's also kinda edge-y. I can't even think what would do better in its place though. Questions 1. Knowing what you do now, what would you have done differently with your first-gen player at the start? 2. Do you think Oslo Storm has a strong chance of also being the first VHLE team to win 3 Renaissance Cups in a row? 3. Where do you see yourself (not your player) in 5 years?

Calgary Wranglers Press Conference Week Ending January 29, 2023 1. The S86 World Cup champions are Team Western Europe! Congratulations to all players involved! Also, congratulations to Team Nordic (WOOHOO!) for Silver and Team Canada for Bronze! Who did you expect to win it all? 2. Now that the WC is over with, we have SIMS starting soon! The indexes are posted, simmers announced, and the calendar says...season starts Wednesday (Jan 25)! Are you nervous? Excited? Anxious? HYPED?! 3. If you're doing predictions this season, how do you think you'll do compared to last season? 4. Who do you think has the best celly on the team? 5. If you could be any kind of bird for a day, which would you choose? 6. Is VR the future? -
The Finnish two-way forward Nikolas Kauppi finally steps foot into the professional scene of the VHL representing the Prague Phantoms who drafted him 17th overall. He entered training camp skates still steaming from winning the Renaissance Cup in the VHLE with the Oslo Storm and 2 back-to-back World Junior Championship wins with Team Europe, hoping to make heads turn in his rookie season. Despite his captaincy in Mexico City and Oslo (as alternate), he knows he likely won't be chosen for that role this time around. "I have some veteran teammates that are much more deserving of the titles than me. They know the ice and our opponents better than me and I still have so much more to learn from them. Having the C or A isn't really important to me -- getting that puck to our opponent's net is." Kauppi knows all too well how difficult things get at the start of the season and the likely results in the end. In his time for both Mexico City and Oslo, the seasons started out incredibly tough to the point where the team was in the bottom of the standings. By the end of the season, the teams were a serious playoff contender. Unfortunately, during his 2 seasons in Mexico City, the final (and therefore the Founder's Cup) series was just out of reach. "You know, it's funny... There was a player in Halifax that was all talk, but I think we knocked them out of the first round. We even had a bet on the team who would be better, but I haven't seen the player since." Kauppi finished his last regular season with 76 points, 41 goals, 35 assists, and 3 hat tricks (although he did score 6 goals in one game). Oslo had almost the same fate starting out weak and bottom of the standings, but as the season progressed they slowly climbed their way into a Wild Card spot. The finals series against Rome was a classic 7 game nail biter that Oslo took home the win and Renaissance Cup, the first team in VHLE history to win one back-to-back. "Nothing about last season made any sense. I figured if there was any team to knock us out, Cologne Express was it. I was wrong...we eliminated them in game 6 and they only had 2 wins on us. Rome giving us a run for our money was not at all what I was expecting, but it definitely put the team on their 'A' game." He finished the regular season with 67 points, 33 goals, 34 assists, 2 hat tricks, and 5 fights (1-1-2). In game 4 of the finals series, Kauppi was ejected from the game 5 minutes into the 3rd period alongside Randy Bobandy after winning their respective fights. Kauppi wants to prove his worth in the VHL with his strength and hockey sense and bring home the coveted Continental Cup. A first for the Prague Phantoms. 492 words for week ending January 22, 2023.

Nikolas Kauppi, unable to find his own team's press conference, brazenly enters the Vancouver Wolves press conference in a dashing purple-and-black suit proudly representing Prague. The room of reporters starts buzzing with confusion when hushes are spread when Kauppi approaches the podium. He opens a bottle of water and takes a few gulps before clearing his throat, "All right, what unrelated questions do we have for me today?" 1. How close do you follow the Vancouver Wolves off season? Who? Ahh..just kidding! First of all, my most sincere congratulations to your Continental Cup win last season. You'll be lucky to get it again this season. Oh, sorry...uh..yeah, no, I don't follow you guys at all except that last bit. 2. Day of trades and too many forgotten; Can you recall all the different trades that General Manager @Frank made this off season trying to improve the roster? Hint: There was a total of ten trades. I gotta be honest -- as a player, I only pay any attention to anything that's on the ice. I'm sure..uh..Frank was it? Hey, there he is! Frank! Good shit last season, dude. You did what had to be done. Order 66 and all that. It's all business, no hard feelings I'm sure. 3. Alex Leduc @Lemorse7 was trade to the New York Americans in a difficult trade that seen Hasbulla Magomedov @Motzaburger, S87 NYA 1st and S89 NYA 2nd along with S88 1st and S88 CHI 3rd. Was this a big enough of a return for a player of his caliber? Why? Wow, he got to go to New York, huh? Lucky guy. I hope he hates sleep. Magomedov isn't even on the Wolves anymore, so I think you lost a pretty valuable player there for picks. What do I know though...I just play the sport, not with money. 4. Shortly after trading away Alex Leduc @Lemorse7 the team quickly replaced him with a free agent signing in (S81) Nezuko @Baozi. Does this mean that (S81) Nezuko will always be compared to Alex Leduc @Lemorse7 in the terms of leadership and production? Why or Why not? You signed an anime character? That's hilarious! 5. Oh, we also have a back-up goaltender that should push Brant Fuhr @Tate to be even better this season in Jeremy Swayman @Agito. Do you think we will have a goaltending controversy this season? SWAAAAYY! Love that guy. He's practically a brick wall. Fuhr better check his posts before Swayman takes his spot with the Michigan. 6. Material, Material so much!! I guess I have to decide that last question and push the rest to next week so last question is: After all the changes this off season, how would you rate the Vancouver Wolves chances of repeating on a scale of 1-10? Why? 2. It was originally 1 because you signed an anime character in place of Leduc, but I bumped it up to 2 because you got my boy Swayman in the mix so there's a slight chance. Hey, Vancouver, it's been a blast in my short time here. You have a lovely city and I can't wait to make sure you don't make the playoffs this next season, but good luck! See you on the ice!
