  1. Only one of them is playing like a rookie though
  2. Gonna knock you out in the VHLM and VHL
  3. Sometimes they do though. see Cologne forwards
  4. should've titled the EU GM 6 thread as though it was NA GM 6 for a double fake-out
  5. We got Silver. OT loss to Canada in the championship game
  6. Good games guys. Everything was a one goal win I believe so damn was that close
  7. In S53? No. If you swap Moon and Kopralkov, Helsinki has this series won already.
  8. Are these Cologne forwards that good or is Helsinki just that bad? Theoretically, this should've been a pretty easy series for Helsinki, but I suppose the advantage that Cologne has in net is too much. Even still, I would expect Theo Axelsson, Black Velvet, and William Covington to be able to make things easy enough for Astrid Moon that even he couldn't fuck up the series, but apparently not. Apparently AK47, Max von Hohenzollen, and Alexander Thrower are just too good. Astrid Moon currently has a save percentage of 0.861 in four games. He has allowed 14 goals over the three and a half games that he has played. Ilya Kopralkov, meanwhile, has a 0.943 save percentage as he quests for a third straight Continental Cup. The real story in Cologne, though, is AK47. He led the VHL in goals during the regular season with 73 and was second in points at 143. In four playoff games he has scored eight goals. If the Express do manage to close out the series against the Titans, will they stand a shot against the Vikings? Well, Cologne split their season series with Stockholm, so that shows they could potentially put up a fight. It is worth mentioning that Cologne actually won the season series 5-3 against Helsinki. However, the Express played much of the regular season with Joel Jarvi on the roster; with him gone, you wouldn't expect them to be wining games like they are, but they are doing it anyway. for mist4ke
  9. The New York Americans finished out the regular season in dominant fashion, winning their final six games (five against playoff teams) by a total margin of 30 to 7. It was a very fun end of the season for the team, as something seemed to reinvigorate the club after having recently gone through a stretch of five losses in seven games (including one against the Wranglers). Ultimately, this outburst of goals in these final games led to the Americans being the league-leaders in goals scored for the regular season, just barely beating out the Bears, with the final tally being 280 to 279. Leading New York was Diana Maxwell, whose 64 goals placed her third in the league. Also scoring above 50 were Unassisted and Tom Lincoln, two of the active leaders in career goals and points. The next highest on the team was Phil Shankly all the way down at 32. Essian Ravenwing had 30, and William Covington had 26 before being traded with 16 games left in the season; Covington's replacement, Joel Jarvi, had six goals with the team. New York is the only team that had five players score 30 or more goals, and Covington was on pace to reach that mark as well. Also Bobby Digital scored a goal and if he hadn't, it may have been a tie. for Maxwell
  10. And even the other three teams that had you all finished in second.
  11. VHFL Winning Roster Fun Facts I'm probably one of the biggest fans of the VHFL, and of course I have ran the fantasy game for the majority of it's existence. I'm also a fan of random trivia and interesting (read: meaningless) statistics. These two things go hand in hand, and I'm sure I could write about the VHFL every week if I really wanted to, but I don't want to. This week, though, I will; specifically, I'll be taking a look at the nine winning rosters for some stats that I feel are worth mentioning. Enjoy! 0 for 9 There were fifteen players who were selected in every group. Of these players, 11 appeared on a winning roster (including Theo Axelsson, who, at six, was on the most winning rosters); the four who did not were Pietro Maximoff, Tom Lincoln, Bogdan Podarok, and Bobby Digital. Looking at the scoring, it makes sense that Lincoln, Podarok, and Digital would be on this list. They were all drafted relatively high but were not among the top fantasy scorers. Maximoff is a bit of a surprise, but even he ranked just 18th in scoring. On the flip side... Perfect Records There were two players who were on the winning roster in every group in which they were drafted: Asher Donovan and Alexander Thrower. Making this a little less interesting is the fact that they were each only drafted in one group, Donovan by Lunaro in Group B and Thrower by Jardy in Group C. By my calculations, Donovan had the lowest average draft position, but finished 8th in scoring. Thrower was just ahead in ADP (second lowest) and just behind in scoring (9th) as one of the Cologne forwards who had a very successful fantasy year. Speaking of the Express... Cologne Forwards To win in the VHFL this year, it seems a requirement was to have one of AK47 or Joel Jarvi on your roster. They finished first and third, respectively, in terms of fantasy points, and seven of the winning teams capitalized on their success (STZ and Velevra did not need their help). There was no team that had both of them, though Jardy did have Jarvi along with Thrower (they were his last two picks, in fact). Interestingly enough, however, none of five teams who picked Cologne's Max von Hohenzollern, who was the fourth highest scoring player, ended up winning. But getting back to Velevra... Nothing in Common There were three other winners with whom Velevra shared no players. Among the winners, this was the highest number of rosters with which one had nothing in common. Overall, though, Velevra's roster was not the most unique among winners, he just happened to share more in common with the other five. The three others that Velevra had no commonalities with: ADwyer, Jardy, and Lunaro. ADwyer and Jardy also had no matching players with STZ. I have no transition to the bit of info. Four Pair There were only two pairs of players that stayed together on more than two winning rosters. The most common was Theo Axelsson and Fabio Jokinen, a pairing that was selected by four members: sterling, RomanesEuntDomus, Ahma, and Velevra. Every winning team that had Jokinen also had Axelsson; there were two other teams overall that had this pairing, both of whom finished second in their respective group. The other (relatively) frequent pair of players to appear on winning rosters was Axelsson and Diana Maxwell, a duo seen on the rosters of Streetlite, STZ, and Velevra.
  12. I don't like how close these games are, but hey, at least we're winning them.
  13. And the thing is, for a rookie goalie on a bad team, that bad season is going to hold more weight than future seasons (at least as far as save percentage is concerned) because assuming the team improves and that goalie doesn't consistently have 2500+ shots against.
  14. With trades like this, yeah.
  15. testing out a new screen name, what do y'all think?
