scoop reacted to Greg_Di in Eagles continues to lead the way for Malmo
Henry has slowed down over the last week in terms of points and goals but has still been producing at a good pace.

While he has fallen out of the top 10 in all stat categories in the VHL, he is still playing significantly better then last season. After 36 games, Henry, sits at 50 points. Last season he only achieved 58 points the whole season. He is on pace to have probably a top 3 career finish in points.

"Things have been going great, team is playing well and we are in a good spot heading into the trade deadline" Henry said "If we continue playing like we are then we should have no problems getting into the playoffs and showing everyone what we can do. We are finally playing like the team we should be"

Henry currently leads Malmo in points and he needs to continue to produce during each and every game if Malmo is to succeed. Having missed the playoffs last season, Malmo is taking this season as a revenge season and trying to prove everyone wrong.

scoop got a reaction from jacobcarson877 in Nighthawks among the league leaders
The Malmo Nighthawks are having a much more successful season than last, and that reflects on the stat leaderboards. A season ago, Mo Probert did lead the league in hits for Malmo, but outside of the penalty minute leaders, no other Nighthawk skater was in the top ten in any statistical category. This season, that has drastically changed as the Nighthawks as a team are currently leading the league in goals for and goal differential. Here's a rundown of most of the top ten spots held by Malmo members.

With 24 goals each, Yaroslav Bogatyrev and Henry Eagles are tied for the seventh in goals. They are just behind a quartet of players who have 25, with the tied leaders up at 28. Eagles is rapidly approaching the 28 that he had with the Nighthawks all of last season, while Bogatyrev waited no time to start finding success with his new team. Both veterans are on pace to set new career bests, but their relatively low assists totals do keep them outside of the top ten in points for now.

On the subject of assists, a pair of Malmo defensemen are in the top ten. Newcomer Skor McFleury has 33 assists, which is good for fifth in the league. Jacob Stone has overcome a poor start to the season and has climbed into tenth with 30 assists. These two also rank third and fourth in scoring among defenders with 41 and 40 points, and Reese McFleury's 32 points has him tied for eighth as well.

Malmo has a trio of rookies who have all contributed to the team's success this season, but among them, just one is in the top ten in first year scoring. With a recent surge in points, Ronald Johnson MacWallace III, the seventh overall pick in the S89 draft, is up to 24. That is good for sixth on the rookie leaderboard.

In addition to being one of the better offensive defensemen around the league, Stone is also among the leaders in shots blocked with 90. This is tied for fourth most in the league. Bogatyrev has also demonstrated two-way prowess with his 119 hits. While he hasn't quite replaced the physicality that Probert had brought, this does put him at eighth in the league. The trio of Eagles (+23), S. McFleury (+22), and Viktor Jensen (+20) fifth, sixth, and ninth in plus-minus rating.

After beginning the season with a middling 5-6-1 record, the Malmo Nighthawks won eight straight and have a 10-1-1 record in their last 12 games. While the team no doubt has relied on production from their veterans, the rookies have had their shining moments as well.

    Savaisk Tzesar
Malmo's leading rookie scorer is Savaisk Tzesar, who has four goals and six assists over the past 12 games. This came after just two goals in his first 12 games. During that time, he has been on the score sheet in eight games, including a two-goal game in their most recent victory. His most notable game, however, was his second star performance in Game 112. Tzesar had a goal and an assist in the game, helping the Nighthawks take down a top team in the Los Angeles Stars by a score of 5-4.

    Ronald Johnson MacWallace III
Having just mentioned the 5-4 win over the Stars, now would be an apt time to discuss Ronald Johnson MacWallace III. RJMW was the third star in that game, also with a goal (the first of his VHL career) and an assist. He is now at two goals and nine assists for the season.

Jebediah Big Ol Doinks in Amish
The rookie defensmen on the team, Jeb Doinks had his own second star showing in Malmo's 3-1 win over Toronto in Game 140. He had just a single goal in the game, but he also played very well on the penalty kill. He followed up that performance with three assists in a 5-4 shootout win against the Seattle Bears.

    1. Someone in Australia, which I believe could be you? You, or Berocka. Though if there are any New Zealanders, I think I would prefer them instead, but I'm less sure if we have anyone from New Zealand.

    2. I suppose I have played for Banackock with Samuel Gate, but I don't remember particularly if he was a great GM at the time. I'm going to say Devise, from both of his stints as New York GM.

    3. Easily the Tom Lincoln / Unassisted / Diana Maxwell line from the early-to-mid S50's New York Americans

    2. Vancouver currently holds five S92 first round picks (DAV, SEA, CGY, HSK, VAN); how many of those picks do you think will be lottery picks?
    3. Do you think the Top GM award could ever justifiably be awarded to the GM of a team that finished with the worst record in the league?

scoop reacted to Banackock in Quitting smoking?
November 9 I celebrated my three years anniversary of being smoke free. Not a single drop of nicotine, cigarette, vape, nicotine help or anything. Cold Turkey! It’s crazy to look back, think and just have the realization sink in that it’s been three entire years. I still have tough days. I still have days when I want a cigarette and while I really hope that goes away, it might stay for quite some time still.

These stats are also crazy. Based off what I was smoking at the end of when I quit, about 15 a day, because I was trying to wean myself off,  I would’ve smoked 16,449 cigarettes from my quit moment until now. Based off show long it takes to smoke a cigarette, taking about five minutes per, I would’ve sat there for 57 entire days had I smoked them all consecutively… that’s NUTS! Also saved a rough estimate of $11,000, however, the price of cigarettes has also gone up since I last smoked.

scoop got a reaction from jacobcarson877 in Nighthawks impress in USA vs Eastern Europe games
Day 2 of the S90 World Cup featured two exciting matchups between the United States and Eastern Europe. Fans of the Malmo Nighthawks in particular were heavily invested in these games, and what they saw was promising for an improvement from the team in Season 91. Team USA features a pair of newcomers on defense: Skor McFleury and Jacob Stone. McFleury was acquired by the Nighthawks during the off-season, while Stone has been with the team since being a draft-day acquisition back in S88. Team Eastern Europe includes Malmo forwards Yaroslav Trunov, Henry Eagles, and Yaroslav Bogatyrev. Trunov is the longest tenured Nighthawk, having joined the team back in S87 after being drafted 6th overall. Eagles will be entering his second season with the Nighthawks, while Bogatyrev was one of the marquee free agent signings of the off-season. All five of these players showed up on the score sheets in both games of what may be a preview of the gold medal contest.

In the first game between the two teams, it was the Nighthawk forwards and Team Eastern Europe that game out ahead. They struck early, taking a 3-0 lead in the first period. Bogatyrev notched a goal and an assist, while Trunov and Eagles together on the second line assisted on a goal as well. McFleury and Stone, with two points each, helped Team USA tie up the game in regulation, but Eastern Europe got the victory in the shootout. Bogatyrev and Stone were named the first and second stars of the game, respectively.

In the second matchup, Team USA turned the tide, but it was Henry Eagles who stole the show. The game was a 5-4 victory for the stars and stripes, with McFleury and Stone once again each notching a pair of points after falling behind early in the game. Bogatyrev scored one of Eastern Europe's goals, while Eagles scored the other three, including one assisted by Trunov. Eagles rightfully earned the first star, and Stone repeated on the pedestal as the third star.

The round robin portion of the World Cup has now concluded, and with the playoffs set, there is a chance that these two teams will meet in the gold medal round. Team Eastern Europe is the number one seed, so they have earned the bye in the first round. Team USA ended up with the third seed, so they will have a tougher path, which would include a game against Team Canada, against whom they went 0-2.

I like this part. Bana is arguably the best GM in VHL history, but it's refreshing to see a player respond to his style in this manner.
