I look forward to this more than my real birthday..

Van City sitting solid in the NA conference with 78 points, good for second. We didn't make any huge splashes this season at the Trade Deadline, mainly because we are right against the cap. I feel good about our team, I think we will be a favorite coming out of our conference. The European Conference will be a dog fight too. It's actually interesting how the NA playoff picture is looking as LA DC and NY are all tied with 62 points Looking forward to the 18th, maybe some free TPE? Bday for VHL always usually means free giveaways, so that's something of note to look forward to. This week was pretty solid for me. I played two rounds of golf, one being my Personal Best score of an 86. That round also included my first ever Eagle. I have an extended holiday/weekend next week as I have Wednesday-Sunday off which I'm really looking forward too.

Q: Malmo, New York, Helsinki and LA, where the four teams active during the trade deadline. Which team do you think came out the winner afterwards? New York adds Nezuko and Torq. I think they've made the moves that put them in a position to make playoffs. The NA is so tight and the other two competing teams made moves, but I like those two high TPE veteran adds. Q: Do you have one trade that stands out made during the trade deadline? Which one and why? The DC LA trade is interesting as they swap 1sts in different years and also swap two major players on each side. It's almost as much of a hockey trade as you can get. They are looking to shake up their teams. What makes it even more interesting is that they are both competing in the same conference and are both head ot head in points. Generally, a big trade in trade deadline includes a team selling off and another buying to make a push. Q: It feels like forever that I have asked about awards but really it wasn`t that long ago, who do you think is Vancouver Wolves current Unsung Hero? Why? Henry Eagles has been solid. He only has 70 points in the 62 games played, which is fifth on the team. What stands out is his 7 GWG. I think an honorable mention to Fuhr who has been outstanding, but I don't think he's unsung. Q: Who do you think is the Most Energetic player on the roster so far during the season? The team has been quite a bit more active in the LR than last season. I definitely notice Kerr a lot in there. Q: At the half-way mark of the season, who do you feel is the MVP of the team? I'd say our goalie Fuhr has been a good MVP canadite. We get scoring throughout our roster, but Brandt has reall been strong in front of the net. He has a 923 save percentage and 2.64 GAA. Pretty awesome numbers, imo. Q: With Payne & Bouchard being as equal as equal can be; Who do you think should be consider our top defenseman at this point of the season? That's a tough call. I actually love this duo. Payne has been so solid with his physical play and assist total has been strong. PEB has has a resurgence and seems to be playing better this season too. I think Payne edges him just based on the fact that I think his build contributes more defensively, and with a three amn crew back there I think it's so important.

Wolf bois be buzzin. We were only .500 a few sims ago, and now we are sitting 30-15-1. It seems like each sim is solid and we've just been rolling lately. The fellas have been playing well and putting up good numbers. I haven't followed my VHFL Team too closely this season, but my players look pretty solid. I think all three of my forwards are on the top of the Hits Leaderboard and my two defense have been putting up points. I know Fuhr has been great lately - two shutouts in the last couple sims. So, that is good. Theme week was pretty intereting this season. Feels a little more original and not recycled. It's always nice when they give yuou motiviation to knock out a quick Media Spot, but also get a doubles week too. Hats off to those who were behind this year's theme week. This week has been about as crazy as the last few week's at work. I'm taking a few random days off through the next few weeks, so I have that to look forward to. I guess this is where the old guy talks about how time is flying by and can't believe what day it is... But yeah, have a few plans made for the next few weekends so it won't be all work on my plate.

Q: If you were Commish, what is the one thing that you would change? Why? I would seriously consider bringing back the Grimm Jonsson Award. I elaborated a little more in my MS this week - but I think this is a cool award that would be a cool return to the league. Q: Trade deadline is here so what moves if any should Vancouver make? We could probably use some defense depth, but at the same time, we have abeen successful against top teams, might be good just to conitnue to run with what we have. Q: Are you expecting a lot of trades or just minor trades at the trade deadline? I think there will always be trades when we have this many teams and this much parity in the league. I don't expect this year to be much different than others. Q: Team has really turned things around after 11-11; if I remember correctly start and we are now 23-12-1 (12-1-1) in the last 14 games. What changed and why are we winning now? Could just be the sim engine starting to work in our favour. We do have good set of young players who have stepped up and earned some TPE that might have swayed things in our favour. Likely just the sim being kind. Q: Congrats to Nico Pearce @Spartan now the all-time TPE player. Do you remember the highest TPE player you created; who was it and how much TPE or is this your first player and where do you think you will finish in TPE? My last player Hard Markinson finished at 1786 and was Top 3 when he retired. My players have always finished in the Top All-Time TPE leaderboards but, likely wont be on that grind as hard at the end of Analfist's career. Still expecting about 1500 TPE for my guy right now, but I won't be sniffing 2000. Q: With half of the season soon to be behind us, can either Nico Pearce @Spartan or Oreo McFleury @JB123 catch that horrible hockey player John Jameson @Frank for goals? I think so. Anything can happen with this many games to go. We are really hot right now, would be amazing to see our boys catch the leader!

VSN Presents: S89 VHL Mid-Season Award Race

FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY -
Theme Week - Commissioner STZ There is no part of me that actually believes I’m even slightly qualified for this position. I think the Commissioner team at all three levels do an incredible job, and the fact that they’ve brought this place to where it’s at now is pretty outstanding. So ,I think it goes without saying, most of these changes are just what I would do, and I believe they probably aren’t good for the league. But, I like free TPE and doubles week, so here is what I would do if I was made Commish. Make a theme week to give me ideas how to do my job better I’m kind of piggy-backing off of the idea the current Commish team had. I mean clearly when you have no clue what to do, you just open it up to the public and try and disguise it as some fun little theme week, but in reality you are just looking for ideas to better the league. I would probably abuse this and make this an ongoing theme week. Maybe once every few seasons I would do this. But also have theme week’s like “Be a good husband for a week, what would you do?” Get some good ideas from the maybe 2-3 decent humans that visit this site and are old enough to get married. Cut back on censorship This one I feel strongly about, however is likely not good for the league. There were some growing pains originally, but I think the league is in a pretty good spot. It feels a little looser than where it was at when the big hard COC was first revealed. I would probably allow a lot more if I was Commish. Obviously, any kind of hate-speech is out the window, but I also think we should have freedom to speak our minds. Bring back Grimm Jonsson Award I really liked the Grimm Jonsson Award for Best Leader. I am a little biased as I won it a few times, but I think now more than ever it would be great to bring this award back. With the league as big as it is, I think there are a lot more members that could be nominated after each season - it’s just a great way to recognize players who take their captaincy role seriously and bring good team spirit to the forums and discord. I think it was criticized before for being more of a popularity contest where the same people kept winning. I think if this was brought back and fine-tuned this would be a great thing for the league. Fold the VHLE This goes without saying. The VHLE is useless. I think you just go back to the way the VHLM was before. Don’t cap the VHLM so much. My time with Analfist in the minors was painful as I literally didn’t update my player the entire draft year. Banking TPE during the final three years is painful, there’s nothing that demotivates a person more than earning TPE that they have to wait to apply in another season. If there are players who are concerned that they aren’t getting playing time because of players that have way more TPE - focus the VHLE energy into more Junior Showcase tournaments. Kind of like how there are different matchups in real life juniors (re: CHL vs Russia series, Don Cherry and Bobby Orr’s Top Prospect Game). Anyways, that’s my time.

Well, I was claiming Recruitment Team pay, and at the start of the season when there weren't any First Gens at 100 TPE, I wouldn't make any graphics. So, that looked bad. Obviously the VHL Auditor ignored the fact that when they all hit 150 TPE I had to do like 10 graphics in a week. and it was 150 TPE for a Player Card and 250 for a signature. So, near the end of the season it was quite busy. TBH, it's a lot easier for me to just do my weekly TPE and hammer out a graphic in 10 mins for the PT. It was reccomended at the time that I continue to do the graphics and just claim it as PT and .com GFX.. But that was after I was fired so I said "lol".

The Wolves are currently in the middle of a very hot streak. We've doubled up our wins in the last stretch of 12 games or so. We sit third in the North American Conference, and we've taken wins off both of the top teams. You love to see it. Our big guns are starting to produce, I really think we are a team on a roll, and I'd be afraid to match-up against us in the playoffs. Analfist has been solid. He has cooled off from the beginning of the season, but is still contributing here and there - that's perfect. Finished up my VHFL Team. Normally I would do an in-depth reveiew of my Blessed Team. But I just don't think it's worth the trouble when I can just do a quick graphic for the 6 TPE. I'm pretty happy with my team, I should be able tot secure some TPE, not sure if I will land the number one spot though. We were so slow picking, I think most of my picks were made after like 15 games played. Can't believe we are in July - is that a boomer point of view coming out? Just feels like I blink and we are into another month. The last week was a blur, super busy at work. Hoping I can take a few days to slow things down this summer and enjoy with the kiddos. We've had a severe weather warning here in Ontario due to the wildfires blowing over - kind of put a damper on Canada Day celebrations.

Q: 11-11 is the current Vancouver Wolves record. Are you happy with the way the team is playing at the moment? Well, we certainly turned things around as we sit 20-12-1. Very happy with the play of our team! Q: What has been the biggest surprise through the first quarter of the season? Probably the 10 wins we just got over the last 12 games or so. Been really impressive to see this stretch of wins. Q: What has been the biggest disappointment through the first quarter of the season? Our PP Percentage is the worst in the league which is tough to see. I think we've had a lot of bounces go the other way, and that's disappointing. Q: What improvement do you think the Vancouver Wolve require (if any) at this stage of the season? Definitely we need to turn around the power play. The statistics look fine, we just need to put the puck in the net. Q: What do you think is Vancouver Wolves current strength? Getting shots on net has been a big strength. We lead the league currently, and we are creating a lot of chances in every game we play. Q: What do you think is Vancouver Wolves current weakness? I could go back to our PP% but I won't. I think we are very streaky. We need to be more consistent to win in the playoffs - or, we just hope we hit a hot streak in playoffs. Our Shots Blocked is also one of the least in the league, however we don't surrender many shots in league comparisons.

Q: First game of the season was interesting since we gave up five unanswered goals to London in the first period; What do you think we learned from this situation about the Vancouver Wolves team? We need to be ready for the start of the game. Clearly London caught us asleep at the wheel and we paid for it. I think we've been better prepared going forward! Q: With five players above a point per game and three other players just a point or two behind a point per game pace at the moment; do you think the team can continue to be an offensive threat throughout the season and who do you think will lead the team by the end of the season in points? Payne and Pearce were brought in to be the driving force for both defense and scoring. I think we will see Pearce as our top scorer at eh end of the season. Q: Vancouver after today sims sit at 4-3 in the first seven games and fifth place in North American conference. Are you concerned about the team start or is it too early to be concerned? Too early to be concerned. We a re a good team, and we are only getting better. I think we have confidence so I think we can handle the ups and downs of a season! Q: Dam those Bears!! Dropped two games today against the Bears and they seem to always be in the wolves way. So, how do we beat the bears? They are always built well. I think we just need ot play our game and lean into our strengths. Anything can happen when we enter that sim, we just have to believe we have done everything in our power to contribute to the win. Q: If anyone should be Mayor of Vancouver that person would be ________________? Kesler Q: Riddle: The more you take, the more you leave behind. What are they? pictures?

Interesting week for Vancouver. Feels very up and down. Had I written this at the start of the week, I would probably be talking about us underachieving after such a solid start. However, the past couple sims have been very kind to us, as we pull back into 3rd place in the North American Conference with a 11-9 record. We've been solid, and it looks like we are getting help from the entire lineup. Still have a lot of work to do, but the team is looking solid and should benefit with every week we have to earn points. Analfist has been red hot this season. At the 20 game mark, Analfist is sitting with the same 21 points he had last season in 72. More importantly he has 11 goals and two of which he's gotten the game winner. It's been an often occurence to see him as one of the three stars for the Wolves. I love that my player is actually contributing to the team's success after what was a hard season to watch last year. It just felt like he was a liability - however, this season he has landed on a pretty high octane line, and his production has been fun to follow on a sim-by-sim basis. Personally, a lot of working lately. I'm getting a little burnt out and feeling like a vacation is needed here soon. I can't believe we are already at the end of June. My daughter is on her last few days of school, and it's just hitting me that we are this deep into summer already. Wish there was more to report, but after a wild weekend a few weeks ago, things have been pretty tame and work-focused.
