1. We've been having a lot of good sims recently, what are your thoughts about that?

2. Who do you think has been our biggest contributor on the team so far?

3. What are your goals for your player by season end?

5. What is your favorite place to crash after a game?

6. You're exhausted after a game, but there's a group of kids waiting to get your autograph. Do you skate over and sign their stuff or try to get them next time?

1. Yes we have, my thoughts about it are that we are really doing well. 

2. I think my player because in a couple sims my player went out on the ice during the shootout and scored when nobody else could score in the shootout.

For context: Your new Houston Bulls General Manager is @jacobcarson877 , and he hired me on as Assistant General Manager! If you don't know Jacob, he has a long history with GMing in the VHL, VHLE, and VHLM! He is the commissioner of the off-season tournament, the JST, and he is a BOG member as well. 

2. There is a lot of change going on in the VHLM this season with the deletion of the VHLE. What are your thoughts on the VHLM now having a TPE player cap of 400? (The previous TPE cap was 200 TPE).

3. What are your plans for your player in this upcoming season? Are you looking to be a goal scorer? Are you looking to work on your defensive side of the puck? 

4. Tell me something about yourself (your life outside of the VHL). What do you like to do in your free time?

5. What is your player's favourite song to listen to before a game? If they don't have a favourite, what type of music do they like to listen to?

1. It's honestly so exciting to be back in the M at all, but to be able to do it with Houston, who has such a rich history is real honour. Getting to do it alongside AJ, who pretty much IS my understanding of Houston's history, and being able to tap into the network of Houston ex-management and my own close compatriots is going to be a lot of fun.

2. This is definitely a super interesting time to be getting back into the M, which is why I knew I had to go for it this offseason. When S83 rolled around and I was last getting into M GMing, we had the great challenge of introducing the hybrid attributes. It left a ton of room for us to put our own personal hypotheses to the test, and it was essentially an ongoing research project. It feels like that again, nobody has the information advantage, so whoever figures this thing out first will run the VHLM for a while, and I hope that we can make it Houston!

3. Woods is going to have to be a breakout star this season for Moscow. It's all offense here, with skating and mentals where they need to be, it's all about converting on more and more chances. When 1100 happens, it's time to optimize for depreciation, but I imagine that won't be until about this time next offseason!

4. I'm about 4 weeks into my new college program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. I'm learning a ton about wrangling data of all kinds into meaningful insights, and that's what I love to do! Anything that lets me look at it like an optimization puzzle is something I can get behind. Creatively I am a TTRPG guy, fusing my old-school styled upbringings with new-school gameplay philosophy. Part game-design, part creative writing, and very little actually playing haha.

5. I used to be a music guy, but I'm trying to ween myself off of using music for mood enhancement. I think I overdid it for a few years there, so now I'm trying to just exist in real space a lot more. If anything I'll throw on an ambient track or some indie or something that isn't invasive to my space.

6. I've got a ton of questions, so I'd be surprised if y'all didn't have any! I'm starting with my build guides and general team "indentity" brainstorming at the moment, trying to figure out how I think we can best guide player building habits for this kind of league structure. Then it'll be about preparing the draft and the sort of roster construction we want to accomplish. And finally we want to work with the VHL GMs to make sure they know that Houston is the place to draft high-quality, relaible players. And that starts with the players we have now, and that's the expectation we have going forward!

2. Its a shame to see the VHLE go however I think that increasing the TPE cap will create some more interesting dynamics and could lead to some fun games.

3. LaClapbomb has lead the league in Hits and PIM the past 2 seasons so Im hoping he can keep the grit while being a little more dangerous offensively. 

4. I usually spend time with friends in my free time, going out to the bars, getting up to shenanigans. Y'know the usual boys being boys.

5. Break Stuff - Limp Bizkit on repeat, full volume.

6. I dont have any questions so far. I cant wait for this season and to see how LaClapbomb plays with the all the TPE I've been unable to spend till now.

1. I’m so excited to see what you two do. AJ has proven to be a strong GM, and I was excited to get to play for Jacob in the E. Now we’re back in H-Town

2. Interesting. I didn’t see this. If that makes it tougher for new guys to get stats, that’s tough. But change can be good.

For the Week Ending October 13th, here are your questions!

 

1. Last night the S96 VHLM Dispersal Draft took place and we now have a pretty full roster!

To the new players: how does it feel to be drafted to the Houston Bulls?

To the returning players: what is something you would tell these new players about our team?

2. Currently our roster consists of 12 forwards, 5 defenders, and 1 goaltender, pretty awesome stuff! Where do you believe your player fits into our lineup? Should you be 1st line caliber? Is the 3rd line checking unit your cup of tea?

3. Development is a great thing, but our ultimate goal will always be to graduate every player. How many seasons do you and your player plan on playing in the VHLM before entering the big leagues of the VHL? (The new VHLM TPE Cap is 400 TPE, once you reach it you must move up to the VHL)

4. The VHLM regular season is coming up in a week, the first day of sims are expected to be October 16th. What do you predict our record after 10 games will be? My guess is 7-2-1. 

5. Jacob and I are trying to plan a team bonding experience but we are unsure on what to do. What should the team do to grow our team morale? Hit the bars for drinks and get casual? Go bowling/mini-putt as another sport to enjoy? Maybe we could all go to a concert?

6. The NHL regular season starts tomorrow! What's your favourite team? Do you have a favourite player?

1. Well I got traded back here so I dont totally fall in any category, but I AM STOKKKEEEDDD.

2. No clue, I dont know how the drafts went but I assume I am probably middle of the pack.
3. Maybe 2-3 seasons? I dont have a great idea on how long it will take.

2. Not to sound cocky but given LaClapbomb has the second highest TPA on the team I should hope he's on the first D line.

3. LaClapbomb recently resigned with the D.C. Dragons so hopefully he's in their future plans but I would expect another 2-3 seasons before he's VHL caliber.

4. Our team looks deadly this year id say my prediction is 7-1-2.

5. Saw a video of a football team going to the amusement park, looks like a great time with the boys.

6. Favourite team is the Leafs unfortunately. Xhekaj is my favourite player fs though.

1. Our GM and AGM make an excellent team. They are eager to help.

2. Eh, not sure. Line 1 maybe, but if we have 2 defenders better, 2nd line is fine. It’s not what line, but how successful you make that line.

3. Enough. The goal is to get out ASAP but we’ve definitely been taking our time.

5. Don’t do drinking kids. We’re trying to win games. Hard to do whilst hungover.

1. The VHLM regular season starts tomorrow (Wednesday)! Which teams, besides Houston, look to be competitive this upcoming season?

2. Your player is getting ready for opening night after a long off-season, emotions are high, energy is high... What thoughts are going through your player's head before game 1?

3. Houston has a pretty full roster to start the season. What strengths and weaknesses do you see within our team?

4. NHL season is off to a hot start! Do you have any early Stanley Cup predictions? I'm of course shooting for the stars and hoping my Winnipeg Jets will make it there.

5. Winter is coming and while most people hate the cold, hockey players tend to love it. What is your favourite thing about winter?

6. A great locker room can be the difference between winning and losing teams. What do you think a great locker room should have? I think we need a couple PS5's so I can play chel in between meetings.

1. Competitive with us? Nobody. We should be unstoppable this season. (Just please don’t look at our current record)

3. With 3 forwards over 200 tpe, 3 defenders over 200 tpe, and a goalie over 200, we should be solid all around. We are lacking the elite near 400 type layers.

4. I do not have any predictions.

5. My favorite part of winter is the part where it ends and it’s springtime.

1. I believe that 5-4-1 is an acceptable start. We will find ourselves as the season goes on.
2. Not bad. My player definitely has more to offer but just needs a little more time to develop.
3. A healthy mix of DK, SH, PC, and DC is on the way.
4. Yes. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Tom Clany's Ghost Recon Wildlands, Pokemon Soul Silver, Diablo II Lord of Destruction, and Mario 64 are favorites.
5. I've heard that New Zealand is pretty nice this time of year.
6. Goulash is good stuff. My personal favorite would be honey glazed salmon alongside of some peas and seasoned rice.

1. Its gonna be a battle to make the playoffs, as we look like a solid team so far that will fight for the 3/4 seeds. Not too bad.
