Welcome, everyone!

 

It is finally the most beautiful time of the season: THE PLAYOFFS. This is the time everyone has been waiting for all season long. This is where each team and each player will do everything they can to win the championship and the Founder's Cup.  This is the best hockey of the season.  Unlike last season, each conference is pretty even and it's likely going to make the playoffs even more interesting as we will find out which conference was the best in the VHLM in S97.

 

 

Quarter-final #1 - Halifax 21st (1) HFX-square.pngvs Mexico City Kings (8) MC_Icon.png

Regular season series: HFX wins 4-2-0.

 

 

After a really impressive regular season, the Halifax 21st finished at the top of the standings with a record of 53 wins, 13 losses, and 6 losses in overtime for a total of 112 points in 72 games. Offensively, Halifax was the best team in the league with 234 goals. We can only hope for them that Pelayo Bolivar @SMYLS4, Ty Duke @TheDuke, and Inker Belle @WildfireMicro will continue their incredible work in the playoffs as they finished respectively 1st, 2nd, and 4th in the league in points. On the other hand, the Mexico City Kings will have to play incredibly well defensively if they want to win some games in this series. I, however, don't really see the Kings winning this series against the 21st.

 

VSN Prediction: Halifax wins in 5 games.

Regular season series: SDM wins 7-1-1.

 

In the VHLM, the best team of each conference is automatically the #1 and the #2 seeds in the playoffs. Since the San Diego Marlins finished first in the Western Conference, they are the #2 seed behind the Halifax 21st. This is why they are 2nd despite being 3rd in the regular season standings. Even though I don't think the Saskatoon Wild can win this series, I think they can put up a bigger fight than the Mexico City Kings. Indeed, with the brilliant work of their rookie goalie, Toby Bob @Baby Boomer, I believe that they can steal a game or two. San Diego, on the other hand, is the best team in the league defensively, and with Ricky LaFleur @DarkSpyro in the net and with the defensemen Bubbles LaFleur @AJW and Blaze Thunderstrike @eaglesfan036 it will be really difficult to score against the Marlins.

 

VSN Prediction: San Diego wins in 6 games.

 

 

Quarter-final #3 - Miami Marauders (3) Miami_Icon.png vs Las Vegas (6) Aces_Icon.png

 

Regular season series: MIA wins 5-1-0.

 

The Miami Marauders are going to be a scary team this off-season as they finished 2nd in the league with 50 wins and 107 points in 72 games, 2nd in goals scored with 214, 2nd in goals against with 126, and they have five players in the top 10 in points, including two in the top 5-- Jacob Longstreet @Dynamicmlb_42 with 98 points and Armas Jortikka @Kavadar with 86 points, who is also leading all defensemen in points. The Las Vegas Aces also have a good team with defensemen Albin Aldgard @animal74 and Kazuma Satou @Spartan . In the net, the Aces have one of the best goalies during the regular season in Onyekachukwu Chidieber Oluwaseun @TenIQ.  Nonetheless, I don't think the Las Vegas Aces have the offense to win this series against the Miami Marauders.

Regular season series: HOU wins 7-1-0.

 

On paper, this series is going to be the most interesting one of the first round. Even though I don't think the Ottawa Lynx are going to win this series, I still think that they are the team that is the most likely to cause a surprise in the first round. If they do, it will be because of the best tandem of goaltenders in the league, composed of Vladimir Trunov @qripll and Dr Victor von Doom @Garsh. They each finished with a save percentage of 0.926 and with a goals against average of 1.98 and 1.85 respectively. On the other side, just like he did all season long, Cash Carti @v.2 will have to be a really important player in Houston's offense throughout this series, but also for the rest of the playoffs if the Bulls want to go far.

Regular season series: HFX wins 6-1-1.

 

The predictions of the four series of the first round were relatively easy to make as the top four was a step above the rest of the league, but now that there are only these four teams left, the playoffs will be even more interesting as pretty much anything can happen. In this series, we have the best team in the league offensively-- the Halifax 21st playing against a team who is a little bit better all around, the Houston Bulls. At the end of the day, I think the Halifax 21st are still the better team between the two of them so this is why I give them the advantage.

Semi-final #2 - San Diego Marlins (2) Marlins_vCpIIA4.pngvs Miami Marauders (3) Miami_Icon.png

 

Regular season series: MIA wins 6-1-1.

 

Just like the other semi-final, this series is going to be really interesting to follow. Indeed, defensively these teams are the best in the league as they have two of the best goalies in the VHLM-- Draw Mac @okochastar for the Marauders and Ricky LaFleur for the Marlins. That being said, the Miami Marauders are way better offensively, and I think that players like Jacob Longstreet @Dynamicmlb_42, Elf shoes @ELF_SH0ES and Luc Moreau @minman are going to make the difference in this series.

 

VSN Prediction: Miami wins in 6 games.

 

 

Founder's Cup Final - Halifax 21st (1) HFX-square.png vs Miami Marauders (3) Miami_Icon.png

 

Regular season series: HFX wins 7-2-0.

 

Logically, this season we should see the Halifax 21st play against the Miami Marauders in the final as they are the two best teams during the regular season on paper and in sim action. It will surely be a really tight and fun final of the Founder's Cup. Even if Halifax and Miami had a pretty similar season, the 21st completely dominated the head-to-head matchup as they won seven of the nine games they played against each other. For this reason, I would give Halifax the edge to win the Founder's Cup.
