Baby Boomer 808
@slothfacekilla Welcome everyone, I don't know why, but it is the season start that I have been the most excited about in a little while. Maybe it's because the off-season took 5 years... or maybe it's because I feel like we are going to see, once again, a really exciting and fierce race during the regular season. The season will start next Wednesday, but before that, here is the S98 VHLM season preview. #1 Mexico City Kings Offense rank: 2nd Defense rank: T-1st Goalie rank: T-1st The Mexico City Kings had a pretty difficult season in S97 as they finished 8th in the league with a record of 29 wins, 31 losses, and 12 losses in overtime for a total of 70 points in 72 games. However, at the dawn of the regular season, it seems like Mexico City's roster is now totally different as all the players are way better than they were last season, but only two players joined the team in the off-season. Indeed, Peter Venkman @Josh and Tina Hughes @tinafrombobsburgers are going to be two really important player at the blue line for the Kings. #2 Houston Bulls Offense rank: 1st Defense rank: 3rd Goalie rank: T-1st Just like last season, the Houston Bulls are once again going to go all-in this season as they will probably be one of the best team in the league. The best forward core in the league are all pretty similar and it is pretty tough to predict which one will be the best, but led by Hunter s @Hunter S and Robin Sierra @ethanjaeda, Houston's offense is without a doubt going to be really dangerous this season. With Feka Ohi Kau @Hacob and Jack Jack @Uncommon on defense and Bartholomew Lorequavius @jaypc8237 tending the goal, the Bulls will be a force this season. #3 Halifax 21st Offense rank: 4th Defense rank: T-1st Goalie rank: T-1st After a big regular season in S97 as they won the Prime Minister's Cup for the best regular season record in the VHLM, the Halifax 21st will again look to compete for the Founder's Cup in the playoffs this season. The 21st lost a couple of really important players from last season, but they have young players who benefited from the off-season. Offensively, Hater Tottingham @Trunkxolotl and Steven Nichols @SlyDigi are going to be important for Halifax this season, and Chad Powers @Big_Dyl in the net will be one of the best goalies in the league this season. #4 Mississauga Hounds Offense rank: 5th Defense rank: 4th Goalie rank: 6th Last season was really difficult for the Mississauga Hounds because they finished last in the league with only 11 wins, 49 losses, and 12 overtime losses for a total of 34 points in 72 games. However, the team grew from this and are now ready to compete again in S98. Mississauga acquired Sidney Sheppard @GoodLeftUndone from the Miami Marauders during the off-season and the Canadian forward is going to be the leader of this offense. Defensively, Kurt Bachmann @Blutch is going to be the general of this team. #5 Saskatoon Wild Offense rank: 3rd Defense rank: 9th Goalie rank: T-1st The Saskatoon Wild had a pretty interesting playoff run last season as they defeated the San Diego Marlins in the 1st round before losing to the Founder's Cup champion in the 2nd round. This season, the Wild will hope to continue this momentum and will even try to compete as they have a pretty good offense led by CJ Daniels @xNJDevilsFanx and Captain Nugget Jr @Captain nugget, and also a good goalie in Toby Bob @Baby Boomer. The only question mark is on defense as they currently only have two defensemen in their roster. #6 Philadelphia Reapers Offense rank: 7th Defense rank: 5th Goalie rank: 7th Just like the Mississauga Hounds, the Philadelphia Reapers faced some difficulties last season as they finished 9th in the league with 24 wins and 56 points in 72 games. This season, the Reapers will continue their rebuild as I don't see them being among the top teams in the league. The Philadelphia Reapers acquired forward Joseph Poole @Itz_Viperz and the S99 LVA 3rd from San Diego for Jacob Seed @oilmandan and a 5th in S99. With Joseph Poole, Jackson Jeannot @Lucas anton is going to be the another forward that will lead the team offensively. #7 San Diego Marlins Offense rank: 8th Defense rank: 6th Goalie rank: 9th The San Diego Marlins' roster is really weird this season. They have some of the best forwards in the league in Cardinal Copia @Beketov and Zak Trokker @Peace, but they only have three forwards on their team. At the blue line, Victory Hockey League @TheHockey_pro will have to step up if they want to compete this season. I don't know what the plan of the GM is, but if they want to compete, they definitely need to add some depth to this team. On the other hand, if they want to rebuild, the team has a lot of options. #8 Las Vegas Aces Offense rank: 9th Defense rank: 7th Goalie rank: 5th I would like to congratulate the Las Vegas Aces for their victory of the S97 Founder's Cup. The upcoming regular season is going to be a little bit different for the Las Vegas Aces as I don't see them being as competitive as they were last season. Raoul Cyr @Tyler and Mathias Gunnarsson @ThatCanadian will have to play a big role in the locker room if they want the team to perform and to make the playoffs this time around. #9 Ottawa Lynx Offense rank: 6th Defense rank: 10th Goalie rank: 8th S98 is going to be a weird season in Ottawa. Indeed, with Gingy @MexicanCow123 and Owen two @do3bo1, Ottawa is going to be pretty good offensively and they probably won't have any difficulty scoring goals. However, the problem is going to be on defense and in front of the net. With only two defensemen in the roster and a young rookie goalie, preventing the other teams from scoring goals will be a pretty big challenge for the team. Ottawa could make the playoffs, but it would be a surprise for me. #10 Miami Marauders Offense rank: 10th Defense rank: 8th Goalie rank: 10th The Miami Marauders' run ended early last season as they lost in the first round of the playoffs against the Las Vegas Aces. Sadly, the team lost a lot of key players in the off-season and now only have seven players on their entire roster. Danny Ross @Spartakiller2 and Dog Jagr @koty_k will without a doubt have a lot of ice time this season and are going to be important players for the team. That’s all for me, thanks everyone for reading. I wish you all a good season and I'll see you in another VSN article soon!
