VHL S46 ENTRY DRAFT RUMOR MILL

The rumor mill has really heated up over the past few hours.  Highlights below:

Olivia Diamond to Seattle? - Basically assaulting the sports tickers around the league over the past 2-3 hours has been the nearly exponential growth of Olivia Diamond's stock, specifically linked to Seattle at the 4th overall pick.  The underage (don't get any ideas Jardy) defense(wo)man from the Pacific Rim has shown glimpses of success on both sides of the puck, but it's the potential that really has the Bears clawing to get her.  "She would have a few years to grow into her position as a first-line defender as the rest of the team comes together.  Would be delighted to have her," The Seattle GM explained to media.

Stockholm Working Their Way Into The First Round - The monopoly on first round picks this year, in hindsight, was almost a luck of the draw for a few general managers in the league.  Certain teams are starting to realize the mistake they made and want a piece of this suddenly highly-touted draft.  Said an insider at the VHL Headquarters, " Teams like Stockholm and Calgary have been trying on a daily basis find another trade partner in order to get back into the first round...  Nothing so far."  One report, however, linked the Stockholm Vikings to a sign-and-trade that would move a starter from the Scandinavian city out to New York for the 8th overall pick...  Part of a bigger deal, we would assume.

Royal...  Flush? - There has been word around the league that a handful of former Bern Royals are discussing about the potential opportunity to join either Seattle or Toronto as a team...  And they may be calling the shots when it is all said and done.  "There was a lot of talent on the Royals' roster, more than probably any other team in the VHLM this season.  There's probably 4, maybe even 5 first rounders on the roster over there.  Is collusion possible?  Not likely, but remember, this is the VHL," One reporter cited.  This is nothing but a rumor to date, but stranger things have happened on draft day.

Panik Looking to Join NA Team - Previous notes about Calgary being linked to getting back into the first round have once again surfaced, this time with tied directly with defenseman Jon Panik.  "Great player with a great agent.  We'd love to have him on the Wranglers...  If the price is right," Calgary's GM mentioned late last night.  What price is right, though?  Calgary's success in Season 45 came down to the wire, and while they are concurrently looking to re-tool and progress, getting one of the vaunted 'first-round picks' seems to be a much steeper price than a few weeks ago.
