What do these two bring to the Phoenix that was lacking last season? 2. Rookie defenseman Boris Bone-Breaker @RileyL will be making his VHL debut in Season 97! Velevra 312
1. Season 96 didn't end the way we wanted it to, but Carson Walker Jr. @Cwalker, Toby Kadachi @ROOKIE745 represent some significant changes to the roster. What do these two bring to the Phoenix that was lacking last season? Sometimes shaking up the chemistry on the team can do wonders! Hope the newcomers help us work together as an even stronger unit! 2. Rookie defenseman Boris Bone-Breaker @RileyL will be making his VHL debut in Season 97! What do you think the 6'6, 238 pound giant can bring to Chicago's blue line? Some solid defensive play that can cause turnovers for our team to capitalize on! 3. During the S97 VHL Entry Draft, Chicago selected their goaltender of the future in Dr. Victor von Doom @Garsh, along with forward Avery Acres @Bravebulldogs. With the focus on delivering a Continental Cup in S97, the Phoenix were still able to address their biggest need with Ryan Artyomov @Enorama nearing retirement. What advice to you have to the newest members to the organization? Just staying consistent in TPE earning goes a long way to making an impact in the big leagues. 6. Winter is coming - what's the right temperature to have the thermostat at? I usually keep mine around 21 degrees celcius 7. Chances are if you're a member of the VHL, you're a fan of hockey. Have you have actually played it? Yes I played hockey until around the age of 18 at a decent level! 8. Fantasy Football is huge these days, but have you ever played fantasy hockey? If so, what did you think of it? I'm in a fantasy hockey league with some sim league friends that we renew annually for a while now. Fun to check in every now and then on it! Garsh 1,195
1. Season 96 didn't end the way we wanted it to, but Carson Walker Jr. , Toby Kadachi represent some significant changes to the roster. What do these two bring to the Phoenix that was lacking last season? Both players have some seasons under their belt, I'm sure their experiences will be be useful for the team. 2. Rookie defenseman Boris Bone-Breaker will be making his VHL debut in Season 97! What do you think the 6'6, 238 pound giant can bring to Chicago's blue line? Good positioning and checking should make them an intimidating presence on the blue line. Someone who won't take shit from the other team. 3. During the S97 VHL Entry Draft, Chicago selected their goaltender of the future in Dr. Victor von Doom , along with forward Avery Acres . With the focus on delivering a Continental Cup in S97, the Phoenix were still able to address their biggest need with Ryan Artyomov nearing retirement. What advice to you have to the newest members to the organization? Just take it one game at a time, no one is perfect and its going to take time to get your legs so to speak. 6. Winter is coming - what's the right temperature to have the thermostat at? I usually keep it between 65-67. 7. Chances are if you're a member of the VHL, you're a fan of hockey. Have you have actually played it? Kind of but not really. There was a roller hockey rink set up a park near where I grew up, so a few friends and I messed around. Some 2 on 2 with a neutral goalie setup haha. 8. Fantasy Football is huge these days, but have you ever played fantasy hockey? If so, what did you think of it? Played a few seasons of it in college. It was fine, but it was something I had to adjust every day which I don't really feel like doing anymore. Maybe there are setups that accommodate that. Doomsday 4,145
The Phoenix rise! You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF DECEMBER 30th TO JANUARY 5th 1. In the first twelve games of the new VHL season, your Chicago Phoenix are 9-1-2, with their 20 points first in the entire league. What's got us off to such a strong start? 2. In recent times, Chicago has had hot starts to the season, only to simmer down and taper off as the season continues. What can the Phoenix do differently this season to stay hot? 3. @badcolethetitan is going to have a fun off-season ahead of him: none of the players on the current pro roster are contracted beyond this season. What's ahead for Chicago in Season 98? 4. What's a band that gets a lot of love and acclaim that you don't think is warranted? 5. Who's the funniest person you've ever interacted with? 6. Did you get anything cool for Christmas this year? 7. What's your favorite gift you've ever given? 8. Have you been watching the NCAA playoffs? Who's going to win the national championship? badcolethetitan 943
1. I think we usually start off pretty hot then cool down as the season goes on, but I'm all for the hot start! 2. I think we have to lock in and play a full season. We need to take each game like it's our last. 3. Most likely a rebuild, but it depends on how the team does. If we're cupping, might bring the team back for one last ride. 6. I got an Xbox Series X, and NCAA. Very fun game and I haven't had enough time to play it. 7. I think the best gift I ever got was Sabres tickets to a game in Buffalo. That was a bunch of fun and we ended up beating Vegas as well. 8. I have been! I think this is Ohio State's season to lose now. They should beat Texas and I feel like they can take down either Penn State or Notre Dame. I have Notre Dame vs. Ohio State in the finals. I just think our team is really hungry to show what we're capable of!! We got a lot of great talent here. 2. Hard to say since I wasn't there for those rough patches, maybe me just being here will help? 3. I feel it's way to early in the season to be asking about the next but to answer the question, it could be a rebuild or retool, or maybe most of come back for one more run with the team? (5) 4. Well here in the VHL? Probably SlapshotDragon (or whatever his name is at the current moment) (6) 5. Nope, because I don't celebrate it. (8) 6. Nope again, I'm not sure but best of luck to all of them (assuming it's still going on) Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/87352-chicago-phoenix-press-conference/page/21/#findComment-1049422 Share on other sites

What's got us off to such a strong start? I think the team has some good chemistry, hope we can keep up the consistency and win the games we are supposed to as the season goes along! 2. In recent times, Chicago has had hot starts to the season, only to simmer down and taper off as the season continues. What can the Phoenix do differently this season to stay hot? We can try sabotaging the other teams, maybe injure some of their players! 3. @badcolethetitan is going to have a fun off-season ahead of him: none of the players on the current pro roster are contracted beyond this season. What's ahead for Chicago in Season 98? See Cole's answer above. But ya I imagine will depend on how this season goes, would love to keep trying to bring a cup to Chicago personally! 5. Who's the funniest person you've ever interacted with? O4L since he keeps inting Cole which entertains me. 6. Did you get anything cool for Christmas this year? Got a new board game which was fun to play with friends! 7. What's your favorite gift you've ever given? I remember how excited I was to get an Xbox 360 back in the day as my first console. Doomsday 4,145
Still soaring! You ONLY have to answer six of the eight questions! WEEK OF JANUARY 6th TO JANUARY 12th 1. The North American Conference has become a house of horrors, with all five teams in playoff position recording at least 15 wins in the first 24 games of the season, with New York on the outside looking in with 13 wins. In what could be one of the strongest conferences in league history, what will it take to survive? 2. On the other hand, the European Conference is split between contenders and rebuilders, with one of the rebuilders making the playoffs by default. That is currently the London United, with a -26 goal differential. Could this potentially be the catalyst to have a deserving team that misses the playoffs in another conference replace one in a different conference? 3. In just over a season's time, the first members of the Season 100 Draft Class will be entering the league. How crazy is it that the VHL has been around for so long that we are entering the triple digits in seasons? 4. What is the best mascot, in your opinion, in any sport? 5. The NHL has announced that it will be holding not one, but two outdoor games in FLORIDA next season. On a scale of 0 to 10, how well will the ice manage to hold up for those games? 6. What's the best compliment you've ever received? 7. With the NFL Playoffs about to begin, Super Bowl Sunday is just weeks away. What's your favorite aspect of the NFL's biggest day? 8. What do you find more terrifying: deep sea exploration or space exploration? Garsh 1,195
1. The North American Conference has become a house of horrors, with all five teams in playoff position recording at least 15 wins in the first 24 games of the season, with New York on the outside looking in with 13 wins. In what could be one of the strongest conferences in league history, what will it take to survive? I think consistency is going to be really important. Need to beat the teams you should beat and steal from some you shouldn't. It's certainly interesting to think about. I actually don't know if its possible with how Simon works. 3. In just over a season's time, the first members of the Season 100 Draft Class will be entering the league. How crazy is it that the VHL has been around for so long that we are entering the triple digits in seasons? Genuinely crazy to think about. I don't follow to many other sim leagues but I can't imagine tons of them that make it that far unless the seasons are quite quick. 5. The NHL has announced that it will be holding not one, but two outdoor games in FLORIDA next season. On a scale of 0 to 10, how well will the ice manage to hold up for those games? I would rate that at a -2 out of 10. 7. With the NFL Playoffs about to begin, Super Bowl Sunday is just weeks away. What's your favorite aspect of the NFL's biggest day? I haven't watched the SB in quite a few years, I don't even really check out the commercials any more either. 8. What do you find more terrifying: deep sea exploration or space exploration? They are both scary to me. I think the potential to just float off into space makes it slightly more terrifying but its real close. In what could be one of the strongest conferences in league history, what will it take to survive? Every point counts, can't take any nights off and hope we get some puck luck! 2. That is currently the London United, with a -26 goal differential. Could this potentially be the catalyst to have a deserving team that misses the playoffs in another conference replace one in a different conference? Hard to say, if it is a constant problem might be worth looking at making the wildcard spots be open to teams in any conference. 3. In just over a season's time, the first members of the Season 100 Draft Class will be entering the league. How crazy is it that the VHL has been around for so long that we are entering the triple digits in seasons? Pretty cool for the league, I think I have been a part of it for around 10 years now which is wild to think about! 4. What is the best mascot, in your opinion, in any sport? I am a fan of Gritty Shenanigans. 5. The NHL has announced that it will be holding not one, but two outdoor games in FLORIDA next season. On a scale of 0 to 10, how well will the ice manage to hold up for those games? 5? I'm sure the technology is decent but still won't be good ice like players are used to. 7. With the NFL Playoffs about to begin, Super Bowl Sunday is just weeks away. What's your favorite aspect of the NFL's biggest day? Seeing all the fun Super Bowl ads is pretty fun!
