Theo Pavlik Lands into the VHLM

Well-known French-Canadian prospect Theo Pavlik after scoring a goal

French-Canadian junior hockey phenom, Theo Pavlik, has decided to forego entering the more well known National Hockey League and opt to enter the Victory Hockey League Minor system. This decision shocked many in the mainstream media as Pavlik was expected to be a top prospect in the upcoming 2016 NHL Entry Draft. One insider, Dick Shivers, projected this "out-of-the-blue, impulsive decision by a player who lives for excitement and unpredictability."

We reached out to Theo for a comment to try and figure out his decision and he replied saying: "I guess it's just my personality, it's part of what makes me so dangerous to play against. I mean, if I don't even know what I'm planning or about to do it's impossible for them to defend against it or predict my actions. I don't have a pattern, and it makes me unstoppable."

Pavlik celebrating yet another goal in the first round of the play-offs, they would eventually go on to lose this series

The Ottawa native played in the QMJHL this past season after requesting a transfer from the OHL's Flint Firebirds. He put up a very impressive 39 goals and 51 assists for a staggering 95 points, good for fifth in league scoring as an 18 year old, placing him behind Pierre-Luc Dubois as the top draft eligible player from the QMJHL on most mock drafts. Despite his herculean effort his team, the Drummondville Voltigeurs, were eliminated in the first round of the play-offs. Many analysts chose to take this opportunity to criticize the young sniper's level of compete and effort in the playoffs referring to him as a "purely perimeter player" and also stating that he "just can't make his own offense, but is an exceptional support player."

Of course, this just caused the media narrative to become even more twisted when he signed up to enter the VHLM rather than going into the NHL. Many pundits exclaimed that the "soft sniper couldn't handle the big show" while others just simply stated "he just wanted to take the easy route." ESPN's own Barry Melrose went so far as to call him a "weak minded individual who couldn't even cut it in the ECHL, I don't know how he was even considered a top prospect in the first place. Soft, soft, soft."

Pavlik posing for his team photo earlier in the year

If you ask his former Voltigeurs coach, Dominique Ducharme, about the comments he is surprisingly blunt and not overly surprised by the media's criticism. "He reminds me of Filatov, at one point he said Pavlik doesn't do rebounds, during the hard to the paint drill (a drill where they crash the net and try to put back rebounds). He's absolutely soft but he's also fantastically skilled. He has so much potential but, when a guy is in the spotlight like he is, they're going to over-analyze you and pick at your flaws. I guess he just couldn't handle that level of critique. I'll be sure to catch his VHLM games though, I'm excited to see what he does."

Nonetheless, fans of the VHLM are excited for the arrival of the exciting offensive dynamo and should prepare to hear his name on the loud speakers often as he lights the lamp for the Oslo Storm this season. Storm fans have been flocking to buy his jersey and a large contingent of French-Canadians have begun learning Finnish and buying into the VHLM Sports Package planning to support him even thousand of miles away in a league they, traditionally, don't really watch.

I just got emailed a New Member survey, and I let this shit fly there, too, but I wanted to air out VHL in the public eye as well. I'm from SHL. I have over 1000 tpe there. I am a boss on SHL. I know exactly what to do to get my player to be good. In VHL? I'm 3 weeks in and still haven't done shit with my player, or this community.

Here's why your trash league is horrid compared to us:

    1) There's no rookie/mentor committee. Like, are you serious? When I signed up and created a player, nobody took 2 seconds to ask me if I had any questions (other than my SHL friend who I put as my recruiter). I was thinking some type of welcoming director or SOMEBODY would like, PM a new member and make sure they know what to do, but there was absolutely nothing.

    2) I wrote my player biography, because I somehow found out that's what you're supposed to do, and some needledick takes 7+ days to grade it, and then basically tells me I'm a piece of garbage and gives me half the TPE that other people get, despite me putting a lot of work into that fucker??

Who is this piece of shit to tell me my joint isn't good enough and doesn't deserve full marks?? Do you want activity in your league? You've got to be way less strict. This isn't some high school summer program, it's a fucking sim hockey league that people come here for fun, not to be told that their writing isn't good enough and given a D-. I don't even remember who graded my shit, but if he ever tried to tell me something like that IRL he'd be knocked clean out. Jardy come see me anywhere in Saskatoon if you want to catch a fade on his behalf.

    3) The GUI of your site is clunky as fuck. I know you're trying to make it look sleek or whatever, but it's shit. The absolute pinnacle of the shitty GUI is this horrid fucking text entry box you need to use to make forum posts / pm someone. The formatting is HORRID. BB Code >>>>>>>>>>> Whatever this shit is. This is like some forumotion, horribly coded garbage. I was typing up a response to the 'New Member Survey' (which was sent to me like 3 weeks after I joined this fucker) AND THE FUCKING TEXT LITERALLY STARTED GOING OUT OF THE TEXTBOX ONTO THE WEBPAGE ITSELF. I damn near died of laughter, but this shit is GARBAGE.

    4) I dont even know if this is true, but it seems like GRAPHICS are pretty much what you need to be good at, if you want to get points for your player. I don't do graphics, so fuck off with that. I don't want to do text, because I don't want some fedora-wearing piece of shit to passive aggressively "critique" my writing and find some bullshit excuse as to not deem it worth the full reward.

    5) I was creating my player, and noticed all the other prospects had a (S40) tag on them, so I put an (S40) on mine, thinking "okay there is a bunch of S40's here, so there is probably a draft coming up soon.". Then, out of the blue like a week after I created a player, I'm magically on the Moscow Shitwolfs??? I posted in their LR and they were apparently in the playoffs or some shit and they needed a 4th liner so they scooped me up??  WHAT???

This is what you want your new members to experience? Playing a handful of 4-5 minute games on some random team, out of nowhere, without any type of heads up???  A draft experience is one of the major moments in a sim player's career, and whatever this shit system you have here, where my player can be signed as a FA to play 10 games for a random team before he's drafted to another team, is just straight up horrid. This is like an NHL player getting signed as a FA in the playoffs and then getting drafted ~2 weeks after the playoffs end by another team? The fuck?? Who thinks this shit up??

If anybody even tries to argue any of the shit I posted, I'm either going to find Jardy IRL and knock him out, or retire and go back to the SHL full-time. If you are from SHL and I offended you with this post, then sorry.

I am not Streetlight, or Hustles. Right now, in this thread, I am Sam Helberg, a 22 year old living in a small town (<800 people) in Minnesota.

I apologize that this thread will be a bit more than just an introduction.

I used to be a kid. Those times were great, because I didn't have to care about anything. Growing up, baseball was my favorite sport (still is). I used to watch the Minnesota Twins every chance I had. I enjoyed playing baseball even more, playing on a summer rec league every year from when I was young up to the 6th grade. I played for my school team from 7th grade to 10th grade. I wasn't that great, and that's part of the reason I stopped. That, and also I didn't want my parents to have to pay a $150 activity fee for me to be able to go to practices and get a single at-bat and a few innings in the field during games.

I was always a (school) smart kid. I got A's all the time. I graduated 3rd in my class of ~120; tied for first was my best friend and my middle school crush. Some of my favorite times back then were riding the bus back to town (the school was in a city ~10 miles away) with the two of them. I wouldn't say I was unpopular during middle/high school, but I definitely wasn't part of the "popular" crowd, though I had some friends who were. From 7th-12th grade, I participated in something called Knowledge Bowl. It's a team competition for "nerds." Knowledge Bowl was awesome, and I was much better at it than I was at baseball.

So much more stuff I typed out and considered posting, but I probably shouldn't. I'll try to just make a short version. Here's some stuff about me:

-I've never had a girlfriend. I've never kissed a girl. I've never asked a girl out. I'm too scared to shit of rejection that I would never. It sucks. Plus I just become interested in girls that I am already friends with (or who I believe I am friends with), and "friendzone" excuse bullshit, etc.
-One of those ladies in whom I had an interest is still someone who I like to talk to more than others about how I am and feelings and stuff like that. She's a good friend, but the ship has certainly sailed on anything more ever happening. And since I'm sure this thread will be more interesting if I somehow bring up nagger, during High School when I had a crush on this girl, I talked to nagger about it.
    -I graduated college last May.
-During spring break, I went on a service trip with 28 other students. We rode a bus to a few cities, performing service projects at each stop, and growing to be good friends. On one particular night, I was feeling shitty, and then later that night I wasn't. In the time between my feelings changing, I told this group of people some things about myself that I had told only a couple people in my life (and some things that I'd never mentioned to anyone). There was a thing that actually happened before that as well, which was probably more important in my turnaround, but if you care to know, you can ask. I don't know if there is anyone reading this anyway. So that trip, I like to think, had a pretty big impact on me in ways that if you care about, you can ask me.
-Nowadays, I'm living with my parents. I don't own a car. I work at Walmart (I just recently started; I'm hoping for 32 hours/week, because new associates can't work 40).
-Yeah, I'm working at Walmart after graduating from college with a degree in accounting, magna cum laude honors, and ~$32,000 in student loans. I wouldn't care about working at Walmart so much if it weren't for the debt that I have. Part of me wishes I didn't go to college, because I don't care too much about having a great job, but I'd rather not have this debt.
-I'm better than I used to be, emotionally. I don't feel as worthless as I used to, I like to think I'm becoming more open, and I'm looking forward to the future. There are things that I want to attain (for starters, I want to earn enough money to get a car, then hopefully get a better job and move out).

I like to juggle. I'm decently good at juggling three balls, but I can't juggle four very well. Nor can I juggle clubs or fire or swords (I can juggle spoons, though!).

I play League of Legends and am on the VHL way more than I should be.
