  1. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but is this for one player or both?
  2. Special Team Work Makes The Dream Work Rodriguez scores one his five power play goals on the year Back when Felipe Rodriguez joined the league, his rookie profile touted him as having the potential to successfully play the point for a dangerous power play saying, “Oh, and 2 words: Power Play. That is where he will shine brightest once he figures his game out at the next level.” Well here we are, Season 51, and those words seem to ring true. Through 28 games this season, F-Rod is sitting on top of the leader board for shots with the man advantage. He has managed 53 shots on goal in 77 power play minutes. Black Velvet, VHL assist leader, has the second most at 50 while playing 24 more minutes on the power play. Unassisted, the only forward in the top five for power play shots has 47 in 82 minutes of power play time. Felipe Rodriguez has been able to convert on five of those power play opportunities or about 9.4% of his power play shots, nearly double his overall shooting percentage of 5.0%. Only Niels Skovgaard (92 Power Play Minutes, 23 Power Play Shots, 7 Power Play Goals, 30.4% Power Play Shooting Percentage) of the Cologne Express and Jeff Hamilton (82 Power Play Minutes, 42 Power Play Shots, 6 Power Play Goals, 14.3% Power Play Shooting Percentage) of the Riga Reign have more goals with the man advantage. Skovgaard is shooting lights out right now converting better than 14% of his shots so far this season. It’s unlikely he’ll be able to maintain this pace but Jeff Hamilton is shooting just about on par with his previous seasons’ shooting percentage. With the constant line shuffling of the Seattle Bears it’s hard to get a read on how Rodriguez’s numbers will continue. He’s currently on a point per game pace, well above his previous career high of 50 points. In his last couple years with the Quebec City Meute, he scored 28 goals on 303 shots, converting on 9.24% of them. This year he’s shooting well below that at 5.0%, assuming things even out, the final two-thirds of the season ought to see Rodriguez catch fire and extend his current three game point streak. He has yet to find a consistent group of forwards to gel with as Seattle GM Blake Campbell is known to be a tinkerer. Once thing get settled in Seattle, the Bears should be able to improve upon their third place standings and be legitimate contenders in the North American Conference. The Bears have split their last 10 games going 5-5-0 including a 3-2 victory over second place Toronto Legion. The next 10 will be no cakewalk despite facing off against the dilapidated Meute twice as they have a three game series against the Calgary Wranglers (23-3-2), two of them on the road. The Bears have been fairly balanced as far as winning at home (9-4-1) and away (9-5-0) they just seem to lack consistency, something that may come as the season progresses and the players improve. It will be interesting to see how things progress in Seattle. Will they sit idly by and be content with third place or is a big move on the horizon to put them in prime position to take over the top spot in North America?
  3. Remember that time the Chicago Blackhawks drafted Jack Skille when Anze Kopitar was available? Hindsight.
  4. Player Name: Felipe Rodriguez VHL Team: Seattle Bears Cash you have: $19,000,000 Purchase Name: The First Generation Cost of Purchase: $500,000 Cash Left: $18,500,000
  5. I'm late to the party. Liked it anyway just in case.
  6. For site security the coding aspect of sigs was removed. I had to PM my code to Draper I think to get my sig the way it is.
  7. Doesn't it give you a text area like you're creating a post? If it does, you should be able to highlight the image and click the same button you'd use to center align the text.
  8. The North American Conference is a tight one but not necessarily for the top spot. The Calgary Wranglers have jumped out to an early lead with 36 points and a record of 17-1-2. The Seattle Bears took some time recently to have a team building golf outing at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Washington. It was a good time for them to relax a little bit and unwind. They played a round of golf, grabbed a bite to eat, and had a few drinks later that evening. A good time was had by all and it seems the event was a success as the Bears went on a 10-game winning streak and have won 12 out of their last 14 games on their way to a 14-5-1 record, currently tied with the Toronto Legion at 29 points. Young center, Sven Wolf, currently has a five game point streak going right now and five players on the Bears have 19 points or more so far. Let’s see if their success continues or if they need to plan another team building event.
  9. Ah, I guess I missed that part. Makes more sense now.
  10. The fact that almost 14% of the people who filled out the survey make $100k+ per year is surprising to me.
  11. You can manage to get to it through the index but this link is bad, like you said.
  12. If you run out of players, I could use one now that I'm in Seattle.
  13. Review: I'm ashamed at how long this went unreviewed. Everything looks good. Of course we know how this played out now. Good luck this season if I haven't told you prior. Uh, I guess that's really all I have to say about this.
  14. Review: As usual, good work here. Haven't seen any issues with grammar or spelling from you in anything I've read of yours. Glad to see Clegane ended up in a great place after leaving Quebec.
  15. Review: Nice work here. Grammar, spelling, content all check out. Keep up the good work. Best of luck with the blocked shots, that was always a category I had hoped to lead in but it just wasn't in the cards after my rookie year.
  16. Review: Good job with this. Didn't see much in the way of spelling/grammar issues. Content was A+. We're going from 7th to 1st!
  17. Dortch Update Some of you may be surprised to see who is atop the VHLM goals leader board. Coming into the league as nothing more than a big, lumbering, physical presence, Daryl Dortch of the Bratislava Watchmen has found a way to score eight goals in as many games so far this season (that’s eight times as many as he scored in all sixteen appearances last season). Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that he has abandoned the physical game. Quite the contrary actually as Dortch also leads the VHLM in hits with 38. Of course, with the physical aspect comes more penalty minutes. Dortch has spent 20 minutes in the sin bin, tied for second most in the league. But I would argue that when you’re scoring at the rate he is, a few extra penalty minutes is definitely forgivable. It’s exciting times at the Evryday Player Agency as it seems Dortch will continue to grow into a great player capable of taking the body while also having the hands to put the biscuit in the basket. And trust me, Dortch knows all about biscuits.
  18. Thanks, man, I'm sure we'll team up again sometime soon.
  19. Excited to see what I can do in Seattle. Also, this gives me an excuse to ask for another sig, so yeah, hook me up, somebody. Yes, I know Dumba is a tough render to find but I'm particular when it comes to these things.
  20. Felipe Rodriguez is leaving the only VHL team he’s ever known in the Quebec City Meute. He’ll be leaving behind long-time teammates John Sleeman and Tom Lincoln, both fellow Season 47 draftees. The Seattle Bears, after days of negotiating, have finally managed to pry the young defenseman away from the Meute but it came at a price, and a steep one at that. The Bears dealt their first and second round picks for the much anticipated Season 52 Draft while still holding on to Cologne’s first rounder as well as Calgary’s second rounder meaning they don’t really miss out on much while also giving Quebec potentially a lot of value. Flip was taken aback when he heard about the trade due to discussions he had previously had with the team’s new GM, Frank. “We discussed the possibility of me being traded and where the potential destination was. There was a mutual interest in me staying put and that was the last I had heard of the move. I woke up this morning to reports of the contrary so it was a little surprising. I did say I understood that this was still a business at the end of the day so I respect the decision. Nothing against Blake Campbell and the rest of the Seattle organization but I wasn’t exactly thrilled about leaving Quebec. That said, I am looking forward to the change in scenery. It could be just what I needed to take my play to the next level. All in all, I’m happy, I was just a little shocked after what I had been told. Campbell has done a great job in his short time with the team so I’m hoping I can help build upon what he’s established so far.” With Rodriguez locked up in his contract until Season 54, chances are he’ll retire a Bear. Last year, the Bears finished with a 28-38-6 record after a 40-30-2 Season 49. Flip should slot into the first defensive pair with the possibility for a lot of ice time considering their depth, or lack thereof, along the blueline. Felipe is coming off his best season yet where he tallied 15 goals and 50 total points, both career highs. He also didn’t shy away from the physical game adding 169 hits and 94 blocked shots. On the other side of the deal, Quebec gets two very valuable draft picks in a highly touted draft class. Due to some GM issues this off season, the Meute did not get off to a very good start during the Free Agency period and saw several key players move on and leave Quebec in the rear view mirror. It left the roster bare and gave Frank very few options to pick up the pieces. There was always talk of a rebuild following the playoff run this year but I’m not sure anyone expected it to be this drastic. Will the change in scenery be enough to push this young defenseman just entering the prime of his career into the spotlight? Can he make a legitimate case for best defenseman or at the very least most improved player? This will be a pivotal season in Felipe’s career and it starts right now.
