  2. My dad has a rookie Gretzky card, it has a dark blue border. I'm not sure of the exact make or what makes it so special but one was sold recently for something like one Million dollars. We brought it to an appraiser recently and it turns out it has a TINY PRACTICALLY MINUSCULE fold in the corner from him putting it in a laminate binder and that makes it pretty much worthless. Other than that, I have Lemieux rookie card that I got signed by him when I saw him at a box when my family went to a game in Pittsburgh, and a Brodeur rookie card.
  3. I feel like "Destroying everything" is an over reaction. Yes the cap would go up, but that means that people have to be way more active to gain said cap. The points earned for things can stay the same, so it's not like welfare players are going to suddenly be netting 80 a season. Plus it would take a few seasons for the changes to be noticed, so it's not like we make the adjustment, and suddenly we have 6 guys scoring 200 points and everyone else being nobodies. If we're trying to increase activity, obviously changing nothing has not worked, but changing specific things to cater to specific demographics of users isn't necessarily the answer either, but something as simple as a cap gives EVERYONE more opportunity

  5. I never really understood the "It will change history" argument. Yes, It's great that you held a record for a time, but the wayne gretzky type records, where no one every has a chance of surpassing them, are few and far between. You know what would help people become very active for a long period? If they knew they had a shot at breaking a record. I mean, they change the game in real life and as we can see in real life hockey in the past season or two, we're seeing things we've never seen before BECAUSE they changed the game. We are finally getting to the generation of players who have lived under the 04-05 rule changes their whole life, and the product is arguably getting better. The most dangerous phrase in human history is "because we've always done it this way".

  14. R: Welcome back to sports center. We now shift our attention to the VHLM. The trade deadline seems to have been moved up internally by the teams in the VHLM. Two major blockbusters went down within hours of each other yesterday, which is bringing back memories of the crazy NHL summer a few years ago which saw Adam Larsson traded for Taylor Hall, and Shea Weber traded for P.K. Subban within minutes of eachother. First was the Yukon Rush shipping out Dragon McDragon@JardyB10 and Otto Axelsson@Dangles13 to the Saskatoon Wild in return for the Wild's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in this years draft. This was a bold move by the Wild and made them look like a real third contender in the race for the Founders cup this year. Not to be out done, the Ottawa Lynx pulled off a block buster of their own minutes later. The Las Vegas Aces sent star defenseman Colton Rayne and top line center Vaclav Hrdina @diamond_ace to Ottawa in exchange for Ottawas 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in this years draft, as well as defenseman Klaus Baustein. This was a huge move for Ottawa, who received arguably the best player in the league in Rayne, who was on the Founders cup winning Aces last year, and a great faceoff man and passer in Hrdina, who has only looked better and better as the season has worn on. The only team unheard from so far is first place Olso Storm. We'll keep our ears to the ground as far as any more trades go. The Ace's who seem to have gone into tank mode still carry star forward Lavar Ball, who is top 5 in points in the league. He seems to be the next logical choice to move to a contender. We will see what the future holds for the Developmental league!
