HawksFan19 reacted to Jala in Simulation Hockey League
Bumping this up. I joined in July and had never been on sims before, and I loved it there. Having so many active people over there who are here as well led me here and now I have two great leagues I play on. They're starting their recruitment drive and it would be mutually beneficial if you guys join over there and claim me as your recruiter.

Any VHLM GM who plays an inactive 50 TPE goalie over a new member should never have been hired in the first place.

HawksFan19 got a reaction from gorlab in Saskatoon Wild Segway Race
We come here today to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for the 1st annual segway race brought to you by our sponsors the Saskatoon Wild. We have 5 drivers here tonight, and 2 laps to complete to win the grand prize of $10,000! First, coming in from Milwaukee... Joe Lahu! In the number two car, from Edmonton Alberta... Jarome Iginla! Jarome is a member of the Saskatoon Wild, and it's great to see the local team getting involved with the community. In the number three car... Mason Richardson! Another Saskatoon Wild member! In the number four car... Rami Jakobssen! THREE SASKATOON WILD MEMBERS?!?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! In the number five car... Jody 3 Moons! Oh. He's not from Saskatoon. Bummer.
We start off the race now, in comes Jarome Iginla, he is in with speed, he turns the first corner very sharply and he is sent off of his segway! Jarome is now in last place! Mason Richardson overtakes first place, he comes in with great agility down the lane, he turns the first corner and he makes it! Richardson turns around and gives the crowd a Johnny Manziel gesture! Fans boo Richardson and he goes around the third turn. A fan has thrown something onto the track! It hits Mason Richardson and he goes down! Rami Jakobssen comes into the first position now, he crosses the starting line, and he is on his final lap! Jarome Iginla has recovered and he is right behind Jakobssen! Jakobssen swerves in the lane trying to prohibit Iginla from passing, now on the third turn, Iginla and Jakobssen lap a drunken Richardson awaiting the tow truck to pick him up! To the finish line... IGINLA AND JAKOBSSEN... IGINLA TURNS INTO JAKOBSSEN AND THEY GO CRASHING INTO THE BARRIER AND JOE LAHU HAS WON THE $10,000 CASH PRIZE!
Here are the results:
1. Joe Lahu - 2:34.98
2. Jarome Iginla - 3:13.84
3. Rami Jakobssen - 3:14.10
4. Jody 3 Moons - Did Not Start
5. Mason Richardson - Arrested for DUI

HawksFan19 reacted to gorlab in Claimed:3 Moons Considers Retirement
It has been rumoured that Bern Royal's Jody 3 Moons is contemplating calling it a career before the S40 VHL entry draft. After an unimpressive debut season in the VHLM, sources have told us that 3 Moons has apparently been considering his place in the VHL and that he might be better off playing in another league.
It's thought that a lack of communication with his teammates and team staff, along with perceived mistreatment by league staff, have pushed 3 Moons to the brink of giving up on making his career in the VHL. The young Ukrainian playmaker has spent this season in the shadow of his inactive teammates Devin Sundberg and Earl Parker, and felt his activity deserved improved ice-time. When he was unanswered by his GM, 3 Moons felt all hope was lost until one league official, who will remain unnamed, stepped in and helped the player by making some lineup changes for the Royals.
Despite an improvement in ice-time, 3 Moons has continued to produce on a mediocre pace. He has maintained a 1.21 point-per-game pace, which under most circumstances would be fantastic, but not this season. In contrast, 3 Moon's teammate Devin Sundberg is on a 2.4 point-per-game pace, putting 3 Moons' numbers to shame. 3 Moons is also currently -14, with only has 69 hits, over 52 games, which are both amongst the worst on the Royals. Coupled with his on-ice problems, 3 Moons has also been at loggerheads with VHL graphic graders in recent weeks, which is also rumoured to be another factor contributing to his potential retirement.
3 Moons in action for Bern Royals
Although 3 Moons has kept a relatively low profile since being drafted into the VHLM, a majority of league press and opinion has given him the label of crybaby or complainer. 3 Moons is not afraid to make his opinion known and that has seemed to ruffle a few feathers. Rookie hockey players are expected to be quiet and respectful of their senior peers, and although 3 Moons has been working on improving his behavior in the public eye, he still carries the initial stigma that surrounded him when he initially came to the VHL.
Whether the outspoken 3 Moons, aka hockey's Travis Tritt, will actually follow through with this retirement plan or not remains to be seen this off-season. His underwhelming production in Bern has led 3 Moons to fall down the central scouting draft rankings in recent weeks. He was as high as 12th overall but again has fallen down the rankings due to the emergence of other rookie players. It's very likely that these retirement rumours will also drastically decrease his stock going into the draft, as a majority of VHL teams will not want to waste a draft pick on a player who may never play a game for them.
None of the retirement rumours have been substantiated by the player himself, so it's thought that VHL scouts will remain observant of 3 Moons' situation. If he does stay in the VHL, it's very possible that the team who takes a chance on 3 Moons will find themselves with one of the best steals of the S40 entry draft.

HawksFan19 reacted to scoop in Hi. My name is Sam Helberg.
I am not Streetlight, or Hustles. Right now, in this thread, I am Sam Helberg, a 22 year old living in a small town (<800 people) in Minnesota.
I apologize that this thread will be a bit more than just an introduction.
I used to be a kid. Those times were great, because I didn't have to care about anything. Growing up, baseball was my favorite sport (still is). I used to watch the Minnesota Twins every chance I had. I enjoyed playing baseball even more, playing on a summer rec league every year from when I was young up to the 6th grade. I played for my school team from 7th grade to 10th grade. I wasn't that great, and that's part of the reason I stopped. That, and also I didn't want my parents to have to pay a $150 activity fee for me to be able to go to practices and get a single at-bat and a few innings in the field during games.
I was always a (school) smart kid. I got A's all the time. I graduated 3rd in my class of ~120; tied for first was my best friend and my middle school crush. Some of my favorite times back then were riding the bus back to town (the school was in a city ~10 miles away) with the two of them. I wouldn't say I was unpopular during middle/high school, but I definitely wasn't part of the "popular" crowd, though I had some friends who were. From 7th-12th grade, I participated in something called Knowledge Bowl. It's a team competition for "nerds." Knowledge Bowl was awesome, and I was much better at it than I was at baseball.
So much more stuff I typed out and considered posting, but I probably shouldn't. I'll try to just make a short version. Here's some stuff about me:
-I've never had a girlfriend. I've never kissed a girl. I've never asked a girl out. I'm too scared to shit of rejection that I would never. It sucks. Plus I just become interested in girls that I am already friends with (or who I believe I am friends with), and "friendzone" excuse bullshit, etc.
-One of those ladies in whom I had an interest is still someone who I like to talk to more than others about how I am and feelings and stuff like that. She's a good friend, but the ship has certainly sailed on anything more ever happening. And since I'm sure this thread will be more interesting if I somehow bring up nagger, during High School when I had a crush on this girl, I talked to nagger about it.
-I graduated college last May.
-During spring break, I went on a service trip with 28 other students. We rode a bus to a few cities, performing service projects at each stop, and growing to be good friends. On one particular night, I was feeling shitty, and then later that night I wasn't. In the time between my feelings changing, I told this group of people some things about myself that I had told only a couple people in my life (and some things that I'd never mentioned to anyone). There was a thing that actually happened before that as well, which was probably more important in my turnaround, but if you care to know, you can ask. I don't know if there is anyone reading this anyway. So that trip, I like to think, had a pretty big impact on me in ways that if you care about, you can ask me.
-Nowadays, I'm living with my parents. I don't own a car. I work at Walmart (I just recently started; I'm hoping for 32 hours/week, because new associates can't work 40).
-Yeah, I'm working at Walmart after graduating from college with a degree in accounting, magna cum laude honors, and ~$32,000 in student loans. I wouldn't care about working at Walmart so much if it weren't for the debt that I have. Part of me wishes I didn't go to college, because I don't care too much about having a great job, but I'd rather not have this debt.
-I'm better than I used to be, emotionally. I don't feel as worthless as I used to, I like to think I'm becoming more open, and I'm looking forward to the future. There are things that I want to attain (for starters, I want to earn enough money to get a car, then hopefully get a better job and move out).
I like to juggle. I'm decently good at juggling three balls, but I can't juggle four very well. Nor can I juggle clubs or fire or swords (I can juggle spoons, though!).
I play League of Legends and am on the VHL way more than I should be.
