  1. Calgary Wranglers vs. Helsinki Titans 3-2 SOL Was this first game a game between a couple of contenders? No, but it was still a good one, nonetheless. In the 1st Period, the Wranglers outshot the TItans 13-8, but the score remained 0-0 while the goalies both shut the door. It was not until halfway through this game, at 10:10 of the 2nd Period that Phil The Rock Johnson scored the go ahead 1-0 goal for Calgary. This was his 14th of the season and was assisted by Shane Lazeski and Saku Kotkakoivu. The game would stay 1-0 until the 3rd Period where the Helsinki Titans stormed back. Outshooting the Wranglers 12-5 in the 3rd Period, the Titans took the game into their hands a scored a couple of goals. At 9:59, Nico Pierce scored his 10th with an assist from Jonathan Ori. Not even 2 minutes later, the Helsinki Titans went to the power play and it was ex-Wranglers Gustislav Nasherov who scored the go ahead goal. His 10th of the season and the assist was also credited to Jonathan Ori. Helsinki took the 2-1 lead, but this game was not over yet, as Calgary still had fight in them despite being outshot in the period. With minutes remaining at 18:28, captain Saku Kotkakoivu took a pass from Shane Lazeski and tied the game late, 2-2. This game would go right past OT and into the shootout. Erlantz Jokinen and Saku Kotkakoivu scored SO goals for their respective teams, but it was Helsinki's William Groves who got the winner for the Titans. Both goalies were great in this one was Calgary's Ben Dahl saved 30 of 32 and Helsinki's Xavier Booberry saved 25 of 27. Vancouver Wolves vs. Calgary Wranglers 3-1 W This game was also between a couple of teams closer to the bottom of the conference. Calgary and Vancouver have played many games in past years, and this one was no less entertaining. The 1st Period was a heavy shot one, where the shots were 15-16 in favour of Calgary. At 2:29, Shane Lazeski scored the opener with assists to Saku Kotkakoivu and AirRig GoodBrandSun. 1-0 Calgary. Halfway through the period at 10:14, Kakapo Bushtit tied this one up at 1-1 with Ryan Li getting an assist. Only 16 seconds later though, Daniel Janser gave Calgary the lead once again with James glove dropper getting his 4th assist of the season. Calgary kept shooting hard, and started to take the game over in the 2nd Period. They outshot Vancouver 15-7, but both goalies held the door shut, and this one went into the 3rd Period with Calgary leading 2-1. The Calgary Wranglers scored early with a goal from Daniel Janser at 1:09, that 3-1 lead held all the way to the end giving Calgary a 3-1 victory. Vancouver Wolves goaltender had a massive game with 44 saves on 47 shots. Calgary's Ben Dahl saved 27 of 28.
  2. 1. We are on the rise! We've had a tough schedule to start, and we're definitely not a cup favourite but we should push for a wild card. 2. Graphics, I think. I've done a lot of Media Spots and Graphics. Probably too many Media Spots over the years so sometimes Graphics are just easier to smash one out. 3. Kotkakoivu has been pretty good but I expect even more. 4. Canada. Toronto, Edmonton, or Calgary. I don't care which. I never mind Washington either, and Colorado is always a fun team to watch. I don't have a #1 favourite this year. Canucks aren't in it. 5. Just movie theatre popcorn works for me. 6. Ricer because I just want to root for my GM.
  3. Oh, yes. You're totally right. That was my plan all along! Either that or I'm just building my player.
  4. I'll say yes, but for the only reason being that you created this thread and I can blame it on you.
  5. Currently 3-7-0 on the season and losers of 5 in a row, the Calgary Wranglers are looking to turn the tide. There are definitely positives, like Saku Kotkakoivu boasting 16 points in 10 games, but the captain is not pleased. Let's take a look at their last couple of games. Calgary Wranglers vs. Vancouver Wolves A couple of teams currently below average here facing off, the Wranglers and Wolves would love to establish themselves with strong records sooner than later. Well, the 1st Period started off as the Henry Tucker Show. Tucker scored a whopping 4 goals in the first 10 minutes of the game, and 2 of those were on the power play. A couple of CGY CPU's thought it would be a good idea to help Vancouver take the lead, so they were off to the box. Henry Tucker scored his 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th of the season, but Calgary managed to get a goal a minute before the period ended. With a 4-1 score heading into the 2nd, the Wranglers had a big challenge ahead. Calgary dominated the period while outshooting Vancouver 15-2, but Brandt Fuhr mostly held the door shut. It wasn't until 16:54 that Saku Kotkakoivu scored his 6th of the season and brought this to a 4-2 score. In the 3rd Period, Vancouver's Kakapo Bushtit delivered a dagger to Calgary's heart 3 seconds in and made this a 5-2 game. Henry Tucker would then score his 5th of the game at 5:34, and the Wolves would take this one 6-2. Brandt Fuhr saved 40 of 42 shots, and obviously Tucker's 5 goals were the story. Seattle Bears vs. Calgary Wranglers The 1st Period was an even one between these 2 teams, but no goals were scored the goalies held the door shut. In the 2nd Period, it wasn't until 12:54 that the scoring opened. Seattle scored a PP goal from Sigard Petrenko to open it up 1-0. That score would hold until the 3rd, and the Calgary Wranglers were looking to even it up. The Seattle Bears decided otherwise early, where both Max Torq and Zeedayno Chara scored in the first 5 minutes of the period to give Seattle the 3-0 lead. Calgary kept chipping away, and captain Saku Kotkakoivu scored at 9:32 to bring this game to a 3-1 score. However, Seattle would outshoot Calgary 38-28, and that was all she wrote in this one. Em Em Flex saved 27 of 28 for Seattle, and Calgary goaltender Jurgis Kalvelis Blazevicius' 35 of 38 saves wasn't enough, unfortunately. Calgary has currently lost 5 in a row, and you can see the offense has dried up a bit lately. They are looking to turn things around tomorrow. "We have dug ourselves into a bit of a hole here, but it's early in the season and there's still a lot of time to turn things around. I think we have what it takes to string some wins together and pull through. We just need to show some consistency."
  6. 1. Only jobs I want are ones that are stolen. 2. Preseason was fun. The season is now started and it's been real interesting. 3. Middle out and hopefully pick up a wild card spot. 4. DC Dragons. It was the team with my last player. 5. Rocket League for sure. 6. Toe. You don't see them a lot of the time and they aren't really important as fingers. You use individual fingers to do things all the time, whereas, toes are kind of just there.
  7. Parechkin is actually #1 but he has a season missing from the portal for some reason. Here is the actual number. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1U3I1r37v31YCPR93x6JovKUaKaW8yVUY9VLpXkVPsHA/edit#gid=708577516
  8. Hey, that's me! Proud to lead this team into the future! Myself and the alternates will make sure we do a great job in doing so.
  9. Calgary Wranglers vs. Chicago Phoenix The Chicago Phoenix got off to a hot start in this one where Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen scored at 5:56 on the powerplay. Later in the period at 14:21, Scotty Sundin scored and doubled Chicago's lead at 2-0. Soon after that, Calgary would get on the board when Shane Lazeski scored at 15:18, but before the end of the 1st Period, Hadrian scored to give Chicago their 2 goal lead once again at 3-1. Shots were 16-6 in the 1st for Chicago. In the 2nd Period, the Calgary Wranglers outshot Chicago 11-9 but there were no goals scored. In the 3rd Period, Seymour Butts scored an early marker a minute in to give Chicago the 4-1 lead. The period would go back and forth but it wasn't until the 15 minute mark that Saku Kotkakoivu scored and brought this game to 4-2. Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen would restore that 3 goal lead for the Chicago Phoenix, and they would take this game 5-2 while outshooting Calgary 43-33 overall. Seymour Butts 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points was the best in the game. Chicago Phoenix vs. Calgary Wranglers In this next preseason matchup between these same teams, it was Calgary that got off to a quick start. Saku Kotkakoivu scored 2:32 into the game, but Chicago fired back fast. Bo Johansson scored just 20 seconds after Saku's goal, then Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen and Julia Waffles scored at 5:29 and 6:30. Suddenly the Chicago Phoenix had a 3-1 lead. In the 2nd Period, it was a back and forth battle, but the only goal of the period came off of Calgary's Daniel Janser to bring this game to within one goal, 3-2. In the 3rd, only 4 seconds in, Bo Johansson scored to give the Chicago Phoenix a 4-2 lead. That was all the offense that came from Chicago, and this is where Calgary's captain Saku Kotkakoivu decided he wanted to win this game. Saku Kotkakoivu scored at 4:17, 16:04, and 17:59. Three goals by Saku in one period, which gave him 4 overall in the game to help Calgary win this one by a score of 5-4. Chicago outshot Calgary 30-23, so the 5-4 score wasn't a good look for either goaltender. The 1st Star was of course Saku Kotkakoivu with his 4 goals. Calgary Wranglers vs. DC Dragons In this game, Calgary would get an early powerplay and scored off a goal from Shane Lazeski. Minutes later, Calgary would hand DC a powerplay of their own, and Poopy Peepants at 4:03. DC's Taylor Mourning would follow that up with a goal at 14:29 to give them the 2-1 lead heading in to the next period. In the 2nd, the only goal came from Dragons player Miles Johnson, and this one was 3-1 heading into the final frame. In the 3rd Period, it was Phil The Rock Johnson who scored to bring Calgary within 1, but DC's Brian Schmigel made sure to restore that lead and they would carry it to the end with a 4-2 victory. Taylor Mourning's 1 goal, 1 assist, and a whopping 10 hits were the star of the show for the DC Dragons. Saku Kotkakoivu's 5 goals is a 4-way tie for 1st in the VHL. Daniel Janser's 7 points is a 5-way tie for 1st in the VHL.
  10. Questions: 1. Easter Weekend is upon us! Do you celebrate? Did you have dinners? Regardless of Easter, how was the weekend? 2. Preseason has just begun! Are you happy with your first few games? Why or why not? 3. Who's your pick to be top spot in the VHL for points and goals this season? 4. What about top goalie? 5. Do you see Calgary maybe squeeking into the playoffs this season? Why or why not? 6. Will Zach Parechkin's record of most hits in VHL history ever be broken? Why or why not? Who will do it?
  11. 1. My player will just keep on playing. With the league reset it will be interesting for sure! 2. I think we did well! I'm excited for the future. 3. He should get close, but honestly, who tf knows. This new hybrid system is interesting, that's for sure. 4. Calgary is good for the future, but there might be a rough start next season. 5. Trying to figure out this new system! I think I got my skills to a good point. 6. I won Gold, and everyone else can eat it.
  12. 1. Gotta start building for the future some day. Bittersweet feelings. 2. Same as usual. Just keep training and waiting for the first game! 3. I have not with this player. I'm a C but if the team needs it I will change any time. Defenseman is a fun position as well. I've switched with 2 previous players. 4. Right. 5. Canucks are my #1, so they're not doing too great. Not currently in a spot, and a playoff spot is slowly creeping out of reach. There's still a glimmer of hope. 6. I've met multiple Canucks players. Other than that, I met Michael Buble before through a friend as he lives in the city I grew up.
  13. Good job to Bek on the write-up and Rockstar on the graphics!
  14. Twinger was on Yukon in S61! I just looked it up. We'll get it done this time!
  15. 1. On to the next one. All you can really say when you lose. No point dwelling over the should and could have. 2. Didn't really know much about it, tbh. 3. Quebec or Montreal in some capacity. Seems odd for a hockey league not to have Quebec in it. Obviously Quebec City rebranded as Vancouver, but now I think they could make another. 4. Not really. Just seeing highlights. 5. The whole league is robbed when the metas dominate. 6. I don't mind it. Raisins are great in Raisin Bran.
