  1. 1. Win as much as possible. 2. We lost already, but I still think we could have won it all. We have what it takes. All those games against DC were close. 3. Defense, probably? I love offense, but offense is usually what brings you the individual awards. Defense wins the championships. 4. Seeing what free agents go where, and what teams are going into rebuild, etc. It's fun to watch teams blow it up and who gets who. 5. Yes! Should be fun. 6. Hour early. I don't mind being late, but a full hour of lateness will make you miss a lot of things, probably with consequences depending the situation.
  2. After winning the first game of their best of 5 series against the Toronto Legion, the Calgary Wranglers had hopes for a series victory. The first game was a close one, and one that they won by a score of 3-2. Leandro Goncalves scored 2 goals, and captain Saku Kotkakoivu scored the game winner in the 3rd Period. Calgary Wranglers vs. Toronto Legion The second game of the series was a bit of a barn burner with lots of a goals and lots of shots. In the 1st Period, the Toronto Legion got off to a quick start with 2 goals. Paul Atreides scored just a minute in on the powerplay to make it 1-0, and Matty Fire followed that up at 3:43 to make this game 2-0 early. Wranglers fans were sure to be nervous early. Lucky for them and the team, Luc Tessier scored at 4:58 and brought this game to 2-1. In what was goal after goal, 5 minutes seemed like a long time to go by when Toronto's Cadmael Ixazaluoh scored and made this game 3-1 at 10:44. But after that goal, Toronto went to the box and gave Calgary a PP. They capitalized just 3 seconds in when AirRig GoodBrandSun scored his 1st of the playoffs. 3-2. 5 minutes later, Luc Tessier scored his 2nd of the period and tied it all up at 3-3. Toronto had a couple of 2 goal leads in the 1st Period alone, but we were all tied going into the 2nd. The 2nd was a dominant period for Toronto where they outshot Calgary 8-1, but Ben Dahl kept the door shut. After a huge goalfest of a 1st Period, the 2nd had no goals and this game was 3-3 heading into the final frame. Paul Atreides scored early at 2:54, giving the Legion a 4-3 lead. Time was ticking down, and Calgary was being outshot, but Leandro Goncalves tied this game up with under 5 minutes left, and this one went to OT. In overtime, a whole period went by where the Toronto Legion outshot Calgary 11-5, but this one went to OT2. Saku Kotkakoivu was the hero at 8:09 scoring the game winning goal, and Calgary took a 5-4 OTW and a 2-0 series lead. Ben Dahl saved 38 of 42 while Calgary got outshot 42-29. Toronto Legion vs. Calgary Wranglers This one definitely wasn't as exciting as Game 2, but still a good back and forth battle between these two clubs. Toronto got off to a hot start yet again when Kyle Peace scored just 48 seconds into the game. 1-0 Toronto. Calgary got outplayed in the 1st Period, but AirRig GoodBrandSun scored and tied the game up. The Legion outshot the Wranglers 17-8, but the both teams left the period with a goal each. In the 2nd Period, Toronto ran into some penalty issues. They scored 2 PP goals in the 2nd Period. Asher Reinhart at 5:36 and AirRig GoodBrandSun 10:30, and suddenly they had a 3-1 lead with Toronto on their heels. The 2nd Period would end 3-1 Calgary, and the 3rd would be a goaltending battle with neither letting in a goal. Ben Dahl saved 28 of 29 in this game, and Calgary's 2 PPGs in the 2nd Period were enough to win them this game and the series.
  3. 1. I believe we have what it takes to win it all! 2. I don't think so. Maybe Matty Fire because he was drafted by Toronto instead of me. 3. Spending time with the family but also getting in some shooting practice. 4. I think our locker room is more active than most already. Possibly some kind of weekly online games. That fantasy football idea works too. 5. Faster rate to the VHL. I don't mind it. I think ultimately it's still up to the GM and player to decide which route to go. I could have moved up to the VHL right away but didn't. Won a championship in the VHLE instead. 6. Live forever. Dying tomorrow isn't an option. There's too many people I love.
  4. The Calgary Wranglers have been rolling lately, with a 10-2-1 record in their last 13 games. This is a clutch stretch of games for a team who's been up and down all season trying to hold on to a playoff spot. Things might not be easy for them, as they are neck and neck with the Toronto Legion, and one of them is going to end up in a wild card spot. Saku Kotkakoivu is a player of note for sure, as last season he took home multiple individual awards after blowing away the league as a producer. Points, goals, and whatever else you want. He brought it to the table. This season, you could definitely say that he took a bit of a back seat. His team around him got a ton better, so that 122 points in 72 games hasn't been asked of him. He does have 78 points in 67 games, so he'll likely hit that 80 point milestone, but of course that's not even close to the 122 he put up prior. His current 34 goals isn't going to come close to the 59 he reached last season either. One area where he stepped it up a notch is his physicality. Last season, he reached 184 hits. This season he's upped that number by almost 100, with 270 hits in 67 games, and that's good for the top 10 in the whole VHL. "My team has been so great this season offensively. 6 of us have over 60 points, so it's been great to see the points be spread out over the lineup. My role has changed a bit, and it's nice to see the young guys get that offense going."
  5. @Hoopydog Forgot to post this 2 hours ago. This is for week ending July 31st.
  6. 1. Just going to sit back with a crown and coke. 2. Calgary Cowboys. Calgary Saddlers. Calgary Stampeders, but that's a CFL team. Calgary Horses. Calgary People Who Like To Ride Horses and Work On Farmland. Yeah, that last one works. 3. More users. 4. Basketball! 5. Just get in that TPE. Don't worry about missing out too much. It's your first player and everyone has a learning curve. 6. 3peat with the Toronto Legion as Zach Parechkin.
  7. Never thought I'd see the day! It's a record I've had forever, and one that I was never really trying to get. Just the way the sim goes. Of course, I did have a power forward build in Parechkin, but it's not like I had some mindset of getting that record. Congrats!
  8. Molholt and Parechkin. A couple of superstars on the 3peat Toronto Legion team.
  9. 1. Saku can get his ass in gear and score like he did last season! 2. Asher Reinhart has actually been a huge player for us this season. Playing at over a PPG pace here compared to his last 2 seasons in Prague. 3. Montreal Smoked Meats 4. Skating. I always have high skating on my players. That or Puck Handling. 5. Ice cream! Blizzards from Dairy Queen or McFlurries. 6. Biking riding to different sunset spots.
  10. Whenever I hear 2007 and Anaheim winning the cup...all I ever think about is this play in double OT when Hansen got elbowed to the fuckin' head, then Luongo tried to call a penalty and the puck was just thrown into the net. While Lu was right, that definitely should have been a penalty, it's also not his job to raise his hand for a penalty. Also, this is the infamous game where Luongo had to take a shit so Dany Sabourin had to play in net before Luongo came back from the washroom.
  11. Haha. Nice! I just went to VHLE, picked a top points dude and made one.
  12. Questions: 1) Is your player slumping so far? What do you think is the reason for your performance? 2) Do you think we have what it takes to still meet our expectations from the start of the season? 3) What is the reason for Saku Kotkakoivu not doing as well as last season? 4) What has surprised you the most about this season? 5) Which VHL rookie do you think is currently the favourite to win the rookie trophy? 6) What team currently in a playoff spot do you think will lose it by the time the season is done?

  14. After a strong start to the season and a bit of a stumble as of late, the Calgary Wranglers currently find themselves with their 3rd win in a row and 14-8-2 record. That record of 30 points is good for 4th in the conference, 5 points behind the 1st place Chicago Phoenix. With some more consistent play like they've had in this string of games, they could find themselves further up the standings. Let's take a look at their past couple of games. Calgary Wranglers vs. Los Angeles Stars The Calgary Wranglers dominated this one against LA, and they got off to a strong start at doing so. Saku Kotkakoivu started this one off with a goal at 9:21 of the 1st Period with an assist to Asher Reinhart. Minutes went by, but then Daniel Janser scored 2 goals in 13 seconds in the final 5 minutes of the period, and suddenly the Wranglers had 3-0 lead. The shots were 16-8 in the 1st, and LA goalie Art Vandalay was having a tough go of things. In the 2nd Period, Daniel Janser wasn't done there, when at 1:39 into the 2nd he scored his hat trick 3rd goal of the game. Both Asher Reinhart and Saku Kotkakoivu got their 17th assists of the season on that goal. Then all the way at the 10:51 mark, Daniel Janser scored his 14th of the season, and 4th goal of the game. Art Vandalay was relieved of his duties in net and replaced with LAS G1. Calgary would continue to dominate into the 3rd Period, but LAS G1 would keep the door shut and hold Calgary to their 5-0 lead. Late in the game, Los Angeles went to the PP and scored, breaking the shutout and bringing this game to 5-1. That score would hold and the Wranglers would come away with the victory. LAS G1 saved 21 shots in the 3rd Period alone, showing off his computerized skills. Daniel Janser's 4 goals were of course the 1st Star of the Game. Helsinki Titans vs. Calgary Wranglers In this game, Calgary faced off against a European squad with a similar record than theirs. This was expected to be a close game. Erlantz Jokinen would start this game off early with a PP marker at 2:37 of the 1st Period. Just 3 minutes later, Luc Tessier doubled Calgary's lead to 2-0, and were off to a quick start. Luc Tessier would score another goal at 14:04, and just like that, the Calgary Wranglers were ahead 3-0. However, with under a minute left in the 1st, Reylynn Reinhart scored to bring this one to 3-1 and give hope to the Helsinki Titans. The Titans wouldn't stop there, and they would outshoot Calgary 18-9 in the 2nd Period and queue a comeback. Nico Pearce scored his 19th of the season at 11:33, then at 14:26, Milan Dvorak would score his 1st of the season on the PP to tie this game up at 3-3. Suddenly, we have a game. In the 3rd Period, Calgary would answer back with some dominant play. They outshot Helsinki 18-8, and Saku Kotkakoivu scored his 14th of the season at 8:04. This 4-3 marker wound up being the eventual game winning goal, and Calgary would take that 4-3 victory to the bank. Ben Dahl saved 35 of 38 for Calgary. Luc Tessier's 2 goals and 1 assist gave him the 1st Star of the Game.
  15. 1. We love to have rocky starts. We'll pull it together. Just need more scoring consistency, and of course for Saku to pop off again would help. 2. I think I get as much as I need! No complaints here. 3. Playoff spot and hopefully a run at things. 4. A pair of Wranglers jeans. 5. Just work and lots of lake activities. Lots of laying in the sun. 6. I just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in October. But I'd definitely get a nice sports car as a side car if I could. Mustang GT350 or something.
  16. This league is for fun. I was unaware of any of this hate going your way. It's a sim league. This is essentially a hockey RPG. It's a GAME. Anyone throwing hate someone's way for trying at being a GM can eat shit.
  17. The Calgary Wranglers have started off the season on a good note, going 7-2-0 in the process and currently tied for 1st in the North American Conference. Their 3 game winning streak is 2nd behind Helsinki's 4 in a row, and hope to continue on that path. Let's take a look at their recent games. Seattle Bears vs. Calgary Wranglers In Calgary's most recent game, it was a battle between a couple of teams who are looking to be at the top of the league by the end of the season. This game started off slow with both teams having 9 shots in the 1st Period, but the game was 0-0 heading into the 2nd. In the 2nd Period, things started to heat up when defenseman Erlantz Jokinen gave Calgary the 1-0 lead just 27 seconds in. A few minutes later at 3:19, Daniel Janser scored his 7th of the season and Calgary went up 2-0. Only minutes later though, Seattle bounced back when Sigard Petrenko scored his 4th of the season for Seattle and brought the score to 2-1. Seattle was only down 1 goal heading into the 3rd Period. In the 3rd Period, Seattle wanted to come back, but Calgary poured it on when they outshot Seattle 17-4 in the 3rd Period alone. While both teams were scoreless in the 3rd, that onslaught was enough to hold Seattle back and secure the 2-1 victory for the Calgary Wranglers. Ben Dahl saved 23 of 24 for Calgary, and Daniel Janser's 1 goal and 1 assist lifted the Wranglers over the Seattle Bears. Vancouver Wolves vs. Calgary Wranglers In the game against Vancouver, this was one that Calgary was expected to win. In the 1st Period, Erlantz Jokinen opened the scoring at 14:55 to give Calgary the 1-0 lead. Assists went to Daniel Janser and Saku Kotkakoivu. That was the lone goal of the period. In the 2nd Period, Calgary dominated while outshooting Vancouver 16-7, although Vancouver goaltender Brandt Fuhr shut the door. The Wranglers were held to 1-0 throughout the period and this one would head to the 3rd. In the 3rd Period, this is where things started to open up. Just 6 seconds in, Daniel Janser scored the 2-0 marker, with assists going to Erlantz Jokinen and Saku Kotkakoivu. 38 seconds later, Kotkakoivu and Jokinen set up Landon Wolanin for his 3rd of the season, suddenly putting Calgary up 3-0 in under a minute into the period. However, at 6:28, Vancouver finally got on the board when Aurelien Moreau scored his 6th of the season with assists to Kakapo Bushtit and Brendan Telker. All of that hope was lost though when just a minute later, Landon Wolanin restored the 3 goal lead for Calgary once again, and put them up 4-1 at 7:24. That 4-1 lead would hold, and the Wranglers would leave this game with a 4-1 victory. Ben Dahl saved 22 of 23. Landon Wolanin's 2 goals gave him 1st Star of the Game, while Saku Kotkakoivu's 4 assists helped push them past the Wolves.
  18. 1. Montreal! They're a huge hockey city. It just seems weird that there's no Montreal team for either VHL, VHLE, or VHLM. 2. Eventually. Not this release weekend, but eventually. I imagine it will likely be one day with my little nephews. 3. Make it so my players always do well and I always win cups. 4. I had a buddy in high school that we called Ricer, and he was a Chinese guy. He was 5'7", so I'll go with that. Lol. I'll say Ben is taller. 5. Too much money. I mean, no money means poverty. Too much money and you can live however you want. 6. It's not an album, it's a mixtape, but Friday Night Lights by J. Cole. If I had to pick an album it would probably be Riot! by Paramore.
  19. Was a great season for myself and the Wranglers squad! Happy to take home these team awards and congrats to my teammates on the others! Let's aim for that cup!
  20. Thanks. Just some unfortunate timing because myself and Janser are side by side and different time zones. For my first skip, he picked like 7 hours after me at 1AM my time then it was my turn again, so I didn't see it until after work. Then my other skip the same thing happened where he picked at 1AM and it was my turn again. Work's been busy lately so I just haven't been able to check this while at work and don't get home until after 3PM usually.
