  1. Uhtred LW | 6'1 | 205 LBs 18 Years Old Drafted #11 OVR by Minnesota Uhtred’s offensive game has shown some growth over the past season. He began his VHLM career signing with the Saskatoon Wild as a free agent. Uhtred played on the 3rd/4th line for the Wild but still managed to make an impact on the cup winning season by scoring 4 goals in the playoffs two of which are game winners. Uhtred was drafted by Minnesota and then traded to the San Diego Marlins. He is expected to play a bigger role with the Marlins and has started the season with 6 goals and 6 assists in his first 5 games. Uhtred is a shoot first type of player who lacks a physical element to his game. He is ok defensively but it's in the offensive zone where he shines. We will now take a look at the Pros and Cons to his game as he enters his VHL draft year. PROS: Shooting: Uhtred loves to shoot and he was a hard accurate wrist shot. He is able to get a shot of quickly and without much space which enables him to have a good shooting percentage. He has career shooting percentage of 15% so far in his career. If he can add a one timer to his game he can become an elite shooter Skating: One of the strengths of Uhtreds game is his skating ability. He's got an explosive first step, can reach a top speed fairly quickly and is agile enough to avoid defenders. His skating ability also gives him the ability to be effective in his own end of the ice. Puck Handling: Uhtred's ability to control the puck is another one of his strengths. His puck handling ability creates space for himself by avoiding stick checks and hits which gives him the ability to get off his great shot. If he can combine develop his passing skills then with his shot and puck handling he can become a great offensive player. This brings us to his cons. CONS: Passing: For all the offensive talent Uhtred posses he lacks the ability to pass the puck. His stick handling ability creates space for himself and his teammates but is constantly unable to give them an accurate pass. This allows defenders to focus on taking away the shot as they dont believe he will be able to hit the open teammate. If uhtred wants to become an elite offensive player he must work on this aspect of the game. With Uhtred’s offensive style of play, of all the cons this one will have the greatest impact at the next level. Strength: At 6”1 205 lbs Uhtred is close to the average size of a player but he lacks strength despite his average frame. Uhtred is not strong enough to battle players in the corners or in front of the net. His lack of strength was evident in his only fight in his career where he got pummeled in last year’s playoffs. He is very weak and can be pushed around when he gets bogged down in traffic. He needs to increase his strength if he wants to be an impact player in the VHL. Checking: Uhtred shy's away from the physical play. As mentioned before he lacks strength but he also shows an unwillingness to be involved in the physical aspect of the game. As long as he can use his positioning and stick effectively on defense this shouldn't hurt his VHL chances as much as the lack of strength or passing ability.

  3. 1. Are you excited for the draft? Yes I was. Drafted and then was traded here which looks like a better place to be. 2. What is your game plan, going into this season? Score goals and win consecutive cups. 3. What attribute(s) are you going to try to make your player become better at this season? The two to focus on are scoring and passing. I'm more of an offence first type player 4. Is your player going to be better or worse this year? Better as I barely played last season so this year should be better. 5. Are you excited to be back to playing soon? Yes I can't wait and as a cup champion I've had a shorter offseason but can't wait to hit the ice. 6. What are going to work on the most, to help you improve, this season? Probably passing. My passing is crap right now and I'm afraid it will lead to too many turnovers or else ill let someone else handle the puck and get into shooting positions. FUN QUESTION: Who’s is your favorite hockey player? (Not Required) John Tavares as I know his aunt and uncle as their are my parents friends.
  4. Uhtred is ready for his second and first full season in the VHLM. Uhtred was drafted by Minnesota 11th overall and then traded to the San Diego Marlins for a first round draft pick. Although Uhtred is just entering his first full season he will look to bring his championship. Uhtred just recently moved to his new San Deigo home and is excited to get to know his new teammates. "last season was a great season but I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. I am ready to take the next step and take a bigger role with the team. Last season I was happy to be the role player to help the wild win the cup but now I'm ready for more. We have alot of talent on this team and I can't wait to get out in the ice and win my second cup in a row. Based on the current roster Uhtred appears to be on a second line which is a big step up from his 4th line role last season. We will find out if he will be able to handle the pressure of increased ice time in addition to the pressure of a VHL draft year.

  8. Uhtred finished his first season in the VHLM as a founders cup champion with the Saskatoon Wild. Although he was just a role player on a stacked team with stars like Edwin the Encarnacion and Danny DeYetto he still made some contributions to the team. Uhtred scored 4 goals during the playoffs but half of those were game winners. Uhtred joined the wild as a free agent midway through the season. He played 24 games during the regular season posting up 8 goals and 4 assists for a 0.5 ppg. He continued to work on his game throughout the year and come playoff time his production ballooned to 4 goals and 7 assists in 14 games to up his points per game on the playoffs to 0.785. Uhtred's most proud moment of the playoffs was scoring the game winner after getting his ass handed to him in a fight the previous game. "getting my ass kicked in that game was embarrassing, no one wants to be beaten up in front of the world. Scoring the game winner the following game was a great way to atone for that moment said uhtred. Now that season one of Uhtred's career is over he is now looking forward to finding out where he will be playing in the VHLM next season. "I love the guys we have here in Saskatoon and wish I could return to the team next year but I'll be happy and give whoever drafts me the complete effort that helped make this season a success. I knew when signing as a free agent that it would be the last time for awhile that I got to choose where I wanted to play. I hope to have a successful season next year that will end in a dream come true in being drafted for the VHL. Since I have no control over the quality of the team I play for for awhile now I knew I wanted to sign with a contender last season. As soon as the wild made me an offer I didn't hesitate and immediately told them I'm in. I was willing to play a small role to win the founders cup as you never know how many chances you'll get in your career. There are players who go a whole career without even a finals appearance let one a championship. There are elite players in sports around the world who don't get to taste the sweetness of a championship. I am over the moon to have done that this year. I hope this is the beginning of many appearances but I know that it may not happen and I'm just enjoying being a champion now. Uhtred will now return back to Bebbanburg to recoprate and train for the next season. He plans to unwind and catchup with some friends he hasn't seen for a while before starting his training regime. I am going to incorporate some training techniques used by knights for hundreds of years at the castle. I love playing hockey but Uhtred's have been warriors for centuries and this is just one way I can connect with my ancestors.

  10. 1. Moscow will be playing Helsinki in round 1 of the S69 playoffs. Who's your favourite player on Helsinki and why? I'd say Sidney Crosby as he's a fellow dman I played with while with Helsinki. 2. How many games do you think the Moscow / Helsinki series goes? I'd say 6 but 7 wouldn't surprised me. 3. Now that the regular season is over, which NA team would you like to see make it to the finals and why? New York as they are a former team of mine so if we don't win they may as well. 4. The VHL recently announced a new annual charity drive. This year we are donating to Make-A-Wish. Do you know any other good charities the VHL can use in years to come? I'd go with Alzheimer's or the cancer foundation as I have family inflicted with those diseases. 5. Smitty is battling to hold onto the point lead for defencemen with 1 game to go. Give him some good encouragement. Since I'm late to the party my words are for him to kick ass in the playoffs and become the MVP while leading us to a championship. 6. Playoff Hype!! Do you have any VHL Playoff superstitions? I personally will not wash my genitals until the Menace are eliminated or cup winners No I don't believe in that shit. So many superstitious Italians so not believing is rare. So many Sicilian superstitions, they are the craziest lol.
  11. Nano ends his regular season career with a goal. Now to end his career with a win.
