Nykonax reacted to Bayley in Finn Davison away for Thanksgiving
London, England:: Ottawa Lynx goaltender, Finn Davison was away for Thanksgiving as his team was playing towards the end of the VHLM Season. As his team took the ice, Finn Davison was out in London, England with his family. JB Rift was in net for the past few games as he was given a leave to be with his family. He has not been home since the time that him and his girlfriend moved to Ottawa to look at his new life. We did have a chance to catch up with Finn as he was about to jump on the plane to head back to Ottawa, this is what he had to say.

Finn Davison will head back to Ottawa with his team fighting for that last playoff spot. It is likely that Finn will get the start in the Playoffs, but we will see. Tune in to see what happens!

    1) I am partial because I am part of this team but I really like Netflex's roster. I believe that they are the dark horse for the tournament not being super low in the power rankings but also not having any hype surrounding them.
2)I'm not to sure. This is my first season being in the league and on the site so I'm still trying to get use to everything.
3)This might be a boring pick because he is the point leader but Elias Dahlberg. Points matter in the league and whoever is able to produce the most has a really good shot at taking home the MVP.
4)I really do enjoy being a player but possibly being a GM because I do enjoying trying to build the perfect team.
    5) 1st-Dahlberg
         2nd- Sullivan Jr.
         3rd- Zabby
         4th- Wahl
    6) I don't read it as much as I did when I first joined the league. The stuff is interesting and helps me stay connected with everything that's happening in the league.

Nykonax reacted to Advantage in Ranking the Brand Names
Admittedly, I haven’t paid as close to the brands as I’d like to, even going so far as only now realizing I’m not apart of mine’s club, so writing on the theme of the week is tricky for me.  Therefore, I’ll be doing more of an opinion piece on the brands, by providing you a bottom to top on which names are the most appealing strictly on the name of the brand.  As anyone in marketing will tell you, a brand’s name can determine so much in regards to how much success you will have and while that may not be the case with these names, it does shape how I feel towards them in the future.

6th – Ubuyalot Games – Listen, this is just trash.  You know what I wouldn’t do when I see this name? Buy a lot of games.  While there are some excellent players representing this brand, such as Jasper Canmore, Norris Stropko and top notch prospect, Brick Wahl, this brand’s name pretty much eliminates it from me ever being interested (well, not really but I’m going to pretend as such).

5th – Netflex – My brand…I joined them cause they offered the most money after most offered the top prospect in the S64 draft either 250K or no monetary value..so yeah I went to them since they offered 750K.  That being said, the name isn’t great only due to the fact that it just sounds sorta lame.  It isn’t my least favourite, but there are definitely better plays on real products listed on this ranking.  However, it didn’t stop me from joining them so maybe Ubuyalot Games has nothing to worry about? Just kidding.

4th – Viking – Listen, I think things start to look up here.  Oh wait, “Viking”…fuck that just reminds me of the Stockholm Vikings.  The team, seemingly inspired off of my former team’s trash tier play finds its way onto my list at number four with little chance of ever moving up.  I don’t mind brands having just one name, ala the last two, but this does seem pretty generic.  That being said, it does earn points for being a name that I could actually see on actual hockey equipment, and for that it finds its way onto our list around middle of the pack.

3rd – True North Gear – Again, this one earns points cause I feel like I’m writing about a real brand with a name like that.  It sounds like the name you’d see for a winter apparel store rather than a hockey one, but it’s still something I can appreciate.  You could even see it only sourcing Canadian-made stuff so this brand is pretty lit.  I may rep them in the future and if so, I want a sick True North Gear balaclava.

2nd – Haterade – I really wanted to get on Haterade…but they were the team that offered me 250K so I ended up passing.  Their name though is great and I think when we all saw the brand name for the first time, knew it was definitely going to be officially picked cause it just works so well.  While I can’t say it’s a realistic brand name, it’s pretty much the perfect one for our unprofessional and sometimes chaotic league.

1st – Jolt Juice – Another team I had a strong interest in but the guy running it apparently thought I was taken so only was able to offer non-monetary contract.  I hope to eventually make the switch to Jolt Juice down the line cause this is hands down the best name.  It’s realistic, makes me want to drink something and rolls off the tounge so well.  I actually had to look up if there was something already named this cause it sounds that damn good.

    Okay so I’m really stupid.

I was unaware there are 8 vhl teams I assumed there were 6. I also would like to redo it since I rushed it last time and I had a lot of stuff I wanted to change in after I posted it. I thought I would just make a whole new ranking instead of editing it.

    1. Elias Dahlberg - LW - 177 TPE - OTT @Nykonax
    6’3” | 196lbs

If you want a high scoring player but are willing to deal with him being a cocky son of a b*tch, Elias Dahlberg is your guy. I had him 2nd last time and after looking over the rankings again I would much rather have him at 1st overall then 2nd. Also 50 goals so far... holy sh*t.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 4th overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 2nd overall

    2. Mark Gebauer - C - 168 TPE - SSK @Sova
    6’5” | 180lbs

Wtfrick... Don’t listen to this guy! How are you gonna completely disregard someone and then put them 2nd overall in the draft the next time. No excuses from my part I’m a bit dumb. I completely disregarded however after looking over I realized that not only does he already have lots of tpe but he is very active meaning hopefully he can continue to gain TPE near this rate he can be an impact player for hopefully a long time.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 6th overall
    OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: unranked

    3. Ryan Sullivan Jr. - D - 219 TPE - YUK @Advantage
    6’6” | 220lbs

Dropping him down to third this time. After taking a bit longer, I realized Elias Dahlberg would be a better pick. Although he has more TPE than Elias, he seems to claiming 5 Tpe per week. Although he might be the best pick for someone right now, long term I would not put him at 1st Overall or 2nd Overall.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 1st overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 1st overall

    4.  Ryan Zabby - C - 174 TPE - YUK @RyanZabby
    6’8” | 140lbs

Gonna plop this guy right here. I think I’m satisfied with this guy being at fourth overall. Again this guy is a god damn twig. How are you gonna be 6’8” and 140lbs Jesus Christ. Anyways, he is a solid player with very good offensive stats and great shooting.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 3rd overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 4th overall

    5. Brick Wahl - G - 181 TPE - SSK @BladeMaiden
    6’7” | 247lbs

5th overall again for the great Wahl of Canada. I honestly think he could get picked higher if there was a team who wanted a goalie. Brick is clearly the best tendy in the draft and possibly one of the best players in general. Easily top 3 but at 5th due to their position.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 2nd overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 5th overall

    6. Piotr Jerwa - D - 169 TPE - SSK @majesiu
    6’3” | 218lbs

At 6th again. A very solid defence man who is an absolute threat in the offensive zone. Let me tell you if this guy becomes active after his draft he can probably end up being one of the best players in the draft. Very good player who can be great with activity.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 5th overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 6th overall

    7. Joel Ylonen - C - 158 TPE - LVA @Esso2264
    6’1” | 187lbs

Solid player who was ranked a bit to high to be honest. Compared to the other great players in this draft I think Ylonen matches up just fine. He is still very active unlike some players who are intended to get drafted early. Good stats and not to mention he’s the best bench gate opener on the planet. ;>

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 8th overall
OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: 3rd overall

    8. John Madden - RW - 142 TPE - HFX @Thranduil
    6’2” | 207lbs

:< unfortunately I gotta puy this guy here. He’s good yatata solid player blah blah blah- but diljodh is obviously the superior right wing right? No but seriously best right wing in draft. He is very active and knows what he’s doing. He has pretty good stats and has been quite consistent.

ACTUAL VHL DRAFT RANKING: 10th overall
    OLD MOCK DRAFT RANKING: unranked

And there we go. A better mock draft than the one I put out earlier. First 8 picks of the draft in my opinion.

    1. I think Dahlberg has a solid chance, dominant player in the VHLM and I think people are sleeping on him
    2. By end of playoffs I'm aiming for ~420 (haha)
    3. Little late but I haven't payed attention since we lost, so I think Canada has a solid shot, Europe is also very good
    4. Again I might be late but I like the idea of repeating the player spotlight where you do something about someone else, it's kinda cool
    5. Stick to it. My player had like 3 points in 70 games his first season, but I kept at it, and won the goal scoring race, won DOTY and got 108 points in 72 games the next season so ANYTHING is possible
    6. I'd love it, my player already made the all VHLM team so that'd be dope

Nykonax got a reaction from TheLastOlympian07 in An Indepth Analysis of Jolt Juice [1/2]
Jolt Juice is one of the couple brands chosen to be a sponsor for VHL and VHLM players. The 6 brands will compete in a bi-annual tournament called the Sponsor's Shield. With the VHL and VHLM season's coming into playoff season the Sponsor's Shield is right around corner. Jolt Juice has signed a total of 15 players and still have a $250,000 slot along with 3 free slots. In this article I'm going to be taking a look at Jolt Juice's roster and predict how they will do.

    $3,000,000

Starting the analysis at the 3 million dollar slot Jolt Juice has signed Konstantin Mulligan and they may want a mulligan on this one. Mulligan has only put up 47 points in 63 VHL games for the Helsinki Titans. Compared to other 3 million dollar signings Podrick Cast, Maxim Kovalchuk, and Jasper Canmore this signing doesn't seem good at all.

Thoughts: Jolt Juice should've used this spot earlier to sign a better player, but Mulligan isn't exactly a bad player, just not a 3 million one.

    $2,000,000

Jolt Juice used this spot to sign Seattle right winger Jake Davis. Davis has 75 points in 62 games, but also 130 hits. Davis brings some offense, physicality, but also the under looked defensive part of his game.

Thoughts: Davis is a great signing and fair signing compared to some other $2mil signings like Dragomir and Arroyo

    $1,500,000

With the $1,500,00 Jolt Juice signed S63 first overall pick, the highest TPE player going into the draft ever, and the leading rookie defenseman point leader Ryan Kastelic. Kastelic has been great for league leading Riga Reign, notching 56 points this season and 11 goals. He's thrown his body infront of shots and people, with 104 blocks, and 98 hits. Kastelic brings good scoring for Jolt Juice on defense, something that is good on every team.

Thoughts: Kastelic is an amazing 1.5mil signing. He's 8th in defenseman scoring, 2 points ahead of 3 million dollar player Kovalchuk. He'll bring a lot to the Jolt Juice blue line for a nice cost.

    $1,250,000

With Jolt Juice's 2 $1.25 million contracts they signed goaltender Alexander Pepper and defenseman Joseph McWolf. Pepper was instrumental in Asia's WJC Silver success, often stopping over 40 shots a night to help Asia to a tight win, but he's also performed well against the tougher competition in the VHL. With little defense infront of him he is also often facing many shots against him a night. He has posted a .921 sv% with almost 2300 shots against, a large margin between the next goalie with the most shots against. Pepper has proven to be a clutch performer and can help Jolt Juice get those tight wins. McWolf was the second overall pick in the S63 VHL draft, right behind fellow teammate Kastelic. McWolf has also helped the offense from the blue line, posting 51 points in 63 games that includes 8 goals. He isn't just good for offense though, he can throw the body and block the puck with it too. He's 2nd in blocked shots with 173 and 8th in hits with 238.

Thoughts: Pepper and McWolf are two great signings at 1.25 million. Pepper has proven he can steal games, and will do especially well with the solid defense that Jolt Juice has. McWolf will help provide to the solid blue line. Him and Kastelic can drive an offense from the blue line, giving Jolt Juice an edge over everyone else.

    $1,000,000

Jolt Juice has signed Mikka Pajari and Alvaro Jokinen. Pajari hasn't had the best season this year, only posting a measly 16 points for the Riga Reign. Pajari hasn't been an active player, he last gained TPE on October 21st. The previous season he posted 43 points though. He's received minimal ice time this year on the top contender. On the plus side he can play defense, he's blocked just over 100 shots and will help Jolt Juice in the defensive zone. The other signing is Alvaro Jokinen. Jokinen has 51 assists in the 63 games he's played for Davos. The Fin has also showed some great defensive plays blocking over 160 shots.

Thoughts: Pajari and Jokinen bring some more defense to the table for Jolt Juice. Jokinen is an okay signing, probably signed for his defensive aspects more than his offensive ones. I don't like the Pajari signing, an inactive player isn't a good one, and wasting a useful $1,000,000 slot is even worse. He can bring some defense to the table though, and would be an overpaid asset on the 3rd or 4th line.

    $750,000

Jolt Juice has 3 $750,000 contracts and they used them wisely. They signed defenseman Sidney Crosby, right wing Sergei Kovalev, and center Ryan Zabby. Crosby has focused more on the defensive and physical aspects of defense in the VHL. He's leading the league in shots blocked, 60 ahead of the next best McWolf, and also 7th in hits, once again ahead of McWolf. Although his defense is strong his offensive skills are underrated. He's put up 45 points over his 63 games for Helsinki. The next player I mentioned was right winger Sergei Kovalev. Kovalev is almost point per game with 60 points in 62 games for Seattle this season. Last season he potted 42 goals compared to his 26 so far. Kovalev has received not as much ice time though, also being just a welfare player but he has proven that he can score goals. The last $750,000 Jolt Juice used was on center Ryan Zabby. Zabby is the highest paid VHLM player on the team. He's 10th in VHLM scoring with 76 points on the stacked Yukon Rush. He's shot the puck past the goalie 28 times and is looking to hit 30 this season.

Thoughts: These are all great signings for Jolt Juice. Crosby brings even more strength to the already stacked blueline and can block shots and take the puck away to generate chances. Kovalev has proven he can score and will make for some good first line scoring, or even better depth scoring. Zabby is a decent center to hold the first line or second line together, not as good as some of the other 1C's or 2C's but he definitely brings some cheap offense to Jolt Juice

    $500,000

Jolt Juice has used all their $500,000 contracts to sign 2 VHLMer's and one VHLer. The 2 VHLM players they signed are center Joel Ylonen and left winger Elias Dahlberg. The VHL player they signed was The Charm. Joel Ylonen (@Esso2264) has been vital in Las Vegas' success. He's leading the league in bdo/60 (Bench Doors Opened) but actually has been great for Vegas. He's 10th in the league for assists with 47, and he's put up 24 goals too. A strong two way forward is needed on every team and Esso brings that to the 2nd or 3rd line. Dahlberg has been tearing up the VHLM in only his first and what appears to be his only season down there. Some projections have him going 2nd in the draft, and others a bit later but if he keeps scoring like he has he has a case to even maybe go first overall. Dahlberg is leading the league in goals with 44 goals in only 59 games, and has 93 points in that time span too, good for 2nd in league scoring, 4 behind the leader MacKinnon. The last player signed with the $500,000 is Davos center The Charm. Charm has 71 points in 63 games on the last place Davos this year. Charm also has played as much defense as he can blocking 93 shots.

Thoughts: The Charm is a strong first line center at a cheap price. Ylonen can solidify the 2nd or 3rd line and dish the puck to his teammates well but also pot some goals. Dahlberg brings much needed offense to the team and a low cost.

    $250,000 and $0:

The last 2 players I will look at are Jagger Philliefan and Lando Baxter. Philliefan a defenseman, has 29 points anchoring the 1st line defense along with hyped draft prospect Ryan Sullivan Jr. Although Philliefan doesn't bring much offense to the table, he does bring a solid defensive game. He has 79 shots blocked this year. The young player is certainly only getting better and can be a solid 2nd line defenseman by the time the Sponsor's Shield arrives. With one of the free contracts Jolt Juice has they managed to persuade Wranglers prospect Lando Baxter. Baxter has 33 points in his rookie season so far, and only looks to improve on those numbers.

Thoughts: Philliefan is going to be an eventual solid 2nd line defender especially along with one of Crosby, McWolf, or Kastelic. Any free contract is a good one of course, and Jolt Juice took advantage of that signing Baxter. Baxter can produce some good offense on depth lines.

    Final Thoughts:

Jolt Juice is a team built on a solid defensive core. Signing 3 of the top younger defenseman in the VHL, and a rookie with lots of potential to anchor down the blueline. Standing behind the defensive core is clutch performer Alexander Pepper, he hasn't had much of a defense in front of him the past couple years but now that he has a solid core he can do so much more. In the offensive zone Jolt Juice also signed some great defensive and two way forward's. The only slight problem I see Jolt Juice having is putting pucks in the net. But you only need to score more than you let in, and Jolt Juice isn't letting in anything. Dahlberg does fix that problem and so do some of the other players who can also pot some goals. You know what they say, "Defense wins championships"

Overall I think Jolt Juice has a serious chance at winning if they don't let pucks past and they can generate some offense.

Nykonax reacted to Peace in Twitter in limbo after newest VIKING banner.
The newest team banner of VIKING has been released, or at least proposed by a member of the state-of-the-art hockey equipment company's roster of sponsored players. The image, depicting a group of lightly dressed slender women, may hang proudly above the exclusive entrance way where only those who are sponsored may enter - should it be approved by the companies PR department. However, we anticipate some social flak, as the company is a gear oriented provider.

And while it may make our stick a little harder, the imagine doesn't contribute anything to the publicity of the company. Although, admittedly, it may raise profit margins through purchases by male (and lightly female) costumers looking to acquire new hockey equipment. In the millennial age, where groups of individuals would claim this as senseless and borderline harassment, we honestly believe no one gives a fuck.

Actually, we know, because we asked.

Most guys like the picture because it's girls in bikini's.

However, Twitter and other social media outlets may be on the verge of destroying themselves over a harmless imagine.

    Stay tuned.

Alrighty I’m gonna do a quick mock draft. (First 6 Picks

Dont hate me this is my opinion.

    1.  Ryan Sullivan Jr. @Advantage
    D |6’6”|220lb|YUK

Almost a no brainer at this point Ryan Sullivan Jr. is going 1st overal. He’s been leading the draft class since I’ve joined (and probably earlier) and there was not many close to him. He’s a big kid weighing 220lb at 6’6”. He’s a forced to be reckoned with on the ice. He has 80 skating already which is absurd. He has excellent passing and amazing defensive abilities. Top of my list no doubt.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 1

    2. Elias Dahlberg @Nykonax
    LW|6’3”|196lb|OTT

Damn this can f*cking shoot. He’s top of the league in goals for a reason. Other than that he is also second in points. He’s speedy, tough, and has a great defensive ability. You could probably not go wrong picking him at 1st but we have him here at 2nd.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 6

    3. Joel Ylonen @Esso2264
    C|6’1”|187lb|LVA

Call me biased since he’s my teammate but he’s one heck of a player. Good skating, great passing, decent shot, and good defensive ability. Put him up this high due to activity. Other people in his position seem to only be claiming welfare or either quite away down when comparing TPE. Solid pick at 3rd.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 7

    4. Ryan Zabby @RyanZabby
    C|6’8”|140lb|YUK

Ignoring the fact this guy is a f*cking twig,(Jesus 240lb at 6’8”) he is a solid center. He is racking up points like there’s no tomorrow. He’s fast, good scoring, good play making, and a great defensive ability. He has dropped down the rankings due to only claiming a little tpe in the last few weeks compared to others expected to go in the first round of the draft.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 3

    5. Brick Wahl @BladeMaiden
    G|6’7”|247lb|SSK

One heck of a goalie. Definitely best goalie in this draft. Wahl has proven he is an absolute tank and a snipers worst nightmare. Only reason they have dropped so far down is due to their position.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 2

    6. Piotr Jerwa @majesiu
    D|6’3”|218lb|SSK

A solid defenceman who is an offensive threat. This kid can absolutely rip the puck aswell as send a beauty of a pass. Not only that he has probably one of the best defensive abilities in this defensively packed draft class. Reason for the drop in ranking is inactivity and not claiming TPE very actively compared to other players.

    ACTUAL RANKING: 4

Again please no hate this is my opinion on who I would pick in which order. Obviously teams who pick in certain positions have different needs. This is just my opinion. If you would like to rearrange this to away you think is better, please feel free to!
