Many seasons after his brother, former VHL star Ola Vikingstad, retired, Gunnar Vikingstad has declared for the upcoming VHLM Entry Draft. Gunnar is of similar proportion and playing style to his cup-winning brother, and hopes to replicate the same success in his own VHL career. Ola, who has since become a full-time fisherman, has had little say about his brother's decision to join professional hockey. Gunnar has shown success playing for various amateur and semi-pro leagues across the hockey world. Despite being born in Canada, while the Vikingstad family was living in North America during Ola's career in the VHL, Gunnar has spent most of his life in their ancestral hometown. Gunnar hopes to make a big impact right away for whatever VHLM team he is able to sign with at this point in the season, to show his ability before the upcoming entry draft. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of his brother, but only time will tell.
