Wow I haven’t checked in here in so long. It seems I’m suffering from extreme amnesia and  have no recollection of the past couple years of my life and how I ended up where I am today. But that doesn’t matter now, I’m currently in the VHLE struggling to make a name for myself. I guess I hit my head really hard and lost all the work ethic that my agency stands for, but I need to get back to how I was supposed to be at the start of my career. I completely fell off the map, and it had totally derailed my career. Could’ve been a fan favorite someone but instead I’m someone no one knows about. It’s all in the past anyways there nothing I can do about it, so I just gotta keep on living and do my best to have the best rest of my career. Who knows, you may see me in the VHL one day. The dream isn’t over yet.

This is weird. This is my draft year, but teams can’t even accurately describe my play style. Teams have had issues describing how I play and my strengths and weaknesses are. Well I’m hoping to make that change soon. There have been many scouts at recent games and practices, and with the upcoming draft rankings coming I should shoot up. Personally, I think my positioning, physicality, and point getting potential are my greatest assets, and I’ll be able to help VHL teams in the future as an offensive defenseman. The VHL is a different place now with players being scouted based on hybrid attributes instead of singular aspects, and once the league started to look at it this way everything changed for me. But I’m excited for the future and the hard work I’ve put in starting to show. The Hounds are a great team to play for and I hope to pay them back for drafting me with me contributing to on ice success.

This is new to me. I’m living in a new country, playing under new management, in the new era of hockey. The way the Vancouver Wolves played changed hockey forever and the game will never be the same. Now it’s up for me to make my mark in hockey and get to work. I am going to be a common type of player, the offensive defenseman, but with a focus on physicality. While I want to get a lot of points, I still can’t forget my roots and will be looking to get a lot of hits. I want my plus minus to be high as well and for the Hounds to be a playoff team. The team is pretty much entirely new and we still have to build our chemistry, but over the season I believe we will get there and the results will pay off. This will be my last season in the VHLM, so I need to show out for all the scouts and gm’s and get myself drafted into the best possible situation. The Hounds can help me do that and I am thankful for them.

I’ve been drafted into the VHLM. I was picked earlier than expected by the Missasauga Hounds at 16th, and now it’s my time to shine. The team isn’t the greatest which I will have more of a chance to shine and I’ve already started to get to know my teammates. Training camp hasn’t been too bad so far and I’m just trying to get myself in the right mindset given the fact I will soon be a starter. Having played above my age level then going to the M at 16 meant that it had been some time since I was the star of a team, but it was finally my time to lead a team again. The main focus this year is to show scouts what I can do and how well I can lead a team, and with the change of scenery and new opportunities I hope I can do just that. It’s gonna be weird moving to Canada for the first time, but sometimes life moves in mysterious ways.

I’m so bored right now. Literally got nothing to do and I have to wait a couple more days until I get to move forward with my life. This draft is far away and I’m not sure how that will go. I was lucky enough to talk to a VHLM gm last week and get some information on potential destinations, but besides that I haven’t been doing much. The Showcase tournament was fun but sadly we lost in the semis, in a tough overtime match. I put up some nice stats, but I wish my plus/minus was higher. I showed off what my future could look like, getting both goals and assists and a lot of hits. Coming to America as a physical guy, I didn’t show a lot of that, so I want scouts to know that I’m not afraid to hit a player. On April 10th I will find out what VHLM team I’m joining, and from then on out, it becomes a race to the top of the hockey world. Can’t wait to run in it.

    Early Life
How did Carson Hound come to be in the VHLM? Well it’s a decently long story with some bumps along the way. Carson was born 16 years ago to an American playing in the National League and a Swiss native. As Carson started to age his father’s career winded down and he switched his focus to becoming more of a family man. Carson started to skate at the age of 4 and joined his local youth team. Being the son of a professional gave him advantages over his competition, and his size advantages allowed him to have his way with his opponents.

    Rising Profile

By the time he was 13 he was already playing for the SC Bern U-16 team and was able to score 10 goals, dish out 30 assists, and get 55 hits in 30 games. After this season Carson started to receive interest from many National League teams as well as CHL fans touting him for the future. The ultimate goal was Carson to make the VHL, but since his family didn’t know what path he should’ve taken at that point, they decided to stay in Switzerland for another year and garner more interests from scouts. Moving up to the U-17 squad, the 14 year old Carson was having trouble adjusting. The top prospects in Switzerland were in the same league as him  and the added physicality was something Carson couldn’t play against. The first half of the season wasn’t anything groundbreaking and the team considered dropping him down to U-16 before he hit a growth spurt and shot up to 6’4. He wasn’t the heaviest at 190 pounds, but the added size helped Carson take more hits and gain some of his confidence back. He finished the season with 7 goals and 25 assists, plus 45 hits, and while the season wasn’t as good as his debut season, he grew another 2 inches and gained 15 pounds during his offseason.

    Senior Debut
Carson’s dad decided that Carson would head to Canada once he turned 16 to play in the CHL, but before they could make the move they heard from a representative of Frölunda HC. They wanted Carson to come play for their U-20 squad, and knowing the exposure this would bring him, they decided to move to Sweden and take the offer. Carson played exceptionally well for someone his age, and late in the season was even able to appear in 5 games for the senior squad, making his professional debut at the age of 16. He got an assist in the last game of the season to score his first pro points and then was a reserve for the team's failed playoff run. After the season ended he hired an agent as he was no longer eligible for the CHL, and the Houston Bulls signed him to a contract. He still played the first half of the season for Frölunda before suiting up for Houston, and had a much better time on the senior side, scoring 2 goals and 10 assists in 15 games. We are now at the end of Carson’s first season, with his Bulls in the season’s Founder’s Cup finals against the Wild. The VHLM draft is looking after the conclusion of this series, so once this series ends, he will get drafted for the first time and get to the main part of his VHL career.

Pain. Hockey is pain. Things were going well for the Houston Bulls, and then we choked.we had the Wild right where we wanted them, only needed to win a game, but let them come back from a 3-1 deficit. It hurts, but it’s in the past now. We couldn’t even have a game 7 that was decently close given how started off the series. This off-season has been a nice break so far and not having to put my body through the rigorous schedule of training and games has allowed me to heal a little bit. I am no longer a Houston Bull, so I’m getting ready for the VHLM draft. I don’t have any preferred spots besides Houston obviously and Philadelphia, but I would be happy to play for any team. My time in the minors is quickly approaching its end, so I’ve been talking to my inner circle a lot more lately, and going over plans on how to support my family. Whatever VHL team drafts will become the home of my parents, but they want to make sure that I don’t end up playing in the VHLE with their support. All we can do now is wait and continue improving my skills.

My timing in joining this league was impeccable. Growing up I watched the VHL and VHLM and got to see many teams rise to the top and enjoy huge successes. I especially paid more attention to the VHLM because of my aspirations to play in the league one day and my two favorite teams ended up being the Houston Bulls and the Philadelphia Reapers. I became a Philadelphia fan because of the way the “City of Brotherly Love” was represented back in my home land and then joined an agency that had two former Reapers, and the Bulls after seeing their success during their history. So when I made the announcement that I was heading to the VHLM I knew that it would be hard to turn any of those two teams down. The only thing I didn’t expect was for the first team to offer me being the Bulls, in the middle of one of their best seasons. As soon as I saw the offer I knew it was over for other teams and I signed the contract. Some may say I just decided to sign with whatever team offered me first, but that couldn’t be further the truth, when a team like the Houston Bulls offers you you pick them.

The team has been predicted to win the Founders’s Cup, and getting to spend my first year in the league here is great. I’m not expecting to come back here next year, but I want to savor as much as I can and learn from this high level of competition. As for my game, I have changed a lot during my time here in the United States. In Switzerland I could focus more on the physical part of the game and my relative skill advantages compared to the rest made me not really worry about improving my offensive skills, but it’s so much harder now. If I had to describe myself coming into the VHLM I would say I was a total goon, but now I would consider myself to be more of a two way defenseman who can get some points for his team. I could still improve as a passer which is probably my next major focus.

Winning has been fun and getting to experience competition against the best of the best will do leaps and bounds for my development. My parents have been happy with me making it this far, and while they wish I got more playing time, they still send the Bulls front office letters expressing gratitude every week.

Anyways, the season is almost over and now I have to look forward in the future. This off-season is going to be huge. I play in the Junior Showcase Tournament a little when I had the time and even scored my first ever goal, and I got to prepare for the World Juniors coming up. I would be very happy to represent Team Europe and I have to show the management what I can do for them. I’m going to end this piece by saying the recent changes in the VHL will be interesting to see play out and it’ll be interesting to join the league during a time of great change. I’m going to interact with my future coaches a lot and make sure I’m able to adjust as best I can. Thanks for reading, and peace out.

Hockey is not easy. Growing up I always knew that, but I guess I started to underestimate it. After a while, it became obvious I was the best player in my area and didn't have much trouble with my competition. I didn’t have to worry about who we were playing and whether or not I would be on the ice a lot. Well the VHLM is totally different. I don’t receive much time on the ice, and when I’m on it most of the time I don’t do anything. Except for one glorious game where I had two assists, I have not had any points. I’ve gotten a small number of hits which is disappointing since that is what I built my reputation on, and I haven’t come close to fighting any of the well mannered players in this league. People constantly call me and ask me if I miss my homeland, and while I easily could say I do, I just know I have to improve my skills and get to a point where I am a star. I know if I keep on working hard I’ll get there, so as of right now I’m ust focusing on improving and the upcoming playoffs.
