  1. I'm afraid I won't be able to catch the game because of time zones:/ Maybe if I go out I will lol
  2. Hadn't used Photoshop for years to make sigs but here it is
  3. From this week's Press Conference, we are getting a lot of looks at who the players and GMs think is deserving of the VHML MVP this season, and there is still no clear favourite. It seems to be a close race between MacKinnon and Dahlberg, and while kinda close but it doesn't look like a real contender, Jesse Wilson, the #1 defenseman in points this season. With the last games, Dahlberg got the edge over MacKinnon in the points ranking, finally taking the #1 spot. There are still a few games left, but it doesn’t look like MacKinnon will regain the spot. Even though Dahlberg is the better scorer of the two, MacKinnon ability to pass and his vision in the rink seems to be elite already, and as results show, not only has he lead his team to a better position but he also is the league leader in +/-. Overall, it’s going to be a very close race and Dahlberg is for sure getting picked in the top 3 in the draft, but we feel like MacKinnon has the edge over him here, since the point differential is very similar but MacKinnon has led his team to a better record while having the league’s best +/- in a team that is right now 4th in the league.
  4. 1. This season's Themed Point Task had you write or make a graphic about the upcoming Sponsor's Shield Tournament and the brands that will compete in it. (if you are associated with a brand) Which brand do you think has the best roster? Gotta rep our brand, UB, to me I'm in a good environment with many of the best players in this league, wether they are upcoming or current talents. 2. What would you like next season's theme to be? I actually like Monkey's idea of it being a "country"-themed one. Not country music lmao, but some kind of theme where the Worlds are a big deal and about each country history. 3. Who has your vote for the VHLM's MVP so far in this season? Gotta give it to MacKinnon here, even though Dahlberg just recently edged him out for the #1 in points, MacKinnon is top 3 in both goals/assists and more importantly, leading the league in +/-. He also has led his team to a better seeding. 4. If you had the choice between every job possible in the league, which one would you do? (you can say none if you want to only be a player, it is fine) I'd like to be a GM someday I think. Probably when an Assistant GM position opens up I'll apply for it, sounds exciting! 5. I am going to release a mock draft early next week. Let's put you up with the same task; who will be the first 4 picks of the draft? 1st pick (DAV) Sully 2nd pick (NYA) Dahlberg 3rd pick (HSK) Gebauer 4th pick (NYA from TOR) Zabby 6. Do you read the weekly Newsletter? Is this stuff interesting for you? Yes! I enjoyed reading it for my first week. I also find the tips for the Trivia suuuuper useful. Keep it going!
  5. I haven't done any sig yet but I plan on doing one soon. When I used to do them for other forums I always used Photoshop, there are many tutorials out there that can help you, and I'm actually using the skills I learned back then for my actual work. Pretty nice

  9. Carles Puigdemont - The Spanish Kid Where does Carles come from? Carles Puigdemont, son of the politician also named Carles who is by many considered the leader of the independence movement in Catalonia, has been for years considering leaving Spain. He didn’t have a rough childhood, his mother, Marcela and his father Carles gave him everything he needed while growing up, well, maybe not everything. Discovering Ice Hockey Carles grew up wanting to play hockey, he went every weekend to watch his brother’s quad hockey game. He tried signing up for the local team, but there weren’t enough interested kids to form a team so he signed up for the basketball team instead. He kind of forgot about hockey until he was 11, when he caught a game of ice hockey on the TV and he instantly became hooked to the game. Carles started looking up highlights from the VHL’s youtube page and started researching everything about the game, it just was such an exciting way to play hockey. Here in Spain, quad hockey dominates the hockey scene and while it is a dynamic game, it isn’t as fast-paced and exciting as ice hockey. As he became more interested in the game, Carles started to find basketball more and more boring, to the point where he stopped caring about the game at all and just decided to sign up for an ice hockey team. With his new hobby in mind, Puigdemont fired up google and started looking for teams around his area, but to his disappointment, the ice hockey scene isn’t that popular in Spain. Regardless, he decided he wanted to play for the popular FC Barcelona Ice Hockey team. Switching sports He talked to his mother Marcela, and she didn’t find any problem in switching sports, but his father didn’t like the idea. He played basketball when he was young and he was seeing the image of himself reflected in his son, but with much more potential and upside, he didn’t want Carles to give up the career that he gave up to pursue politics. Carles became enraged at his father, and he stopped showing up to the basketball practices and instead went smoking some joints with his druggie friends, whom he didn’t see that much lately. His father didn’t notice the increasing pot smell in his house because he was hardly home due to work, but for Marcela who worked selling oils and was a #bossbabe found the behavior of his son very disrupting. One day, Marcela decided that it was enough, and even though her oil sells were already tanking he thought that it was because of Carles and his disruptive behavior (although we know it didn’t matter, those oils are shit). She talked to her husband when he came home tired after 12 hours of work and countless arguments with other Spanish politicians about the Catalonia independence, Carles Senior didn’t want to argue for more than 5 minutes, and he ended up giving in and giving the opportunity to Carles to switch sports. The Start of his career Carles, now 12, full of excitement with his father approval to switch sports, went to the Barcelona rink ready to sign up for the team. But, to his surprise, there weren’t enough youngsters of his age to form a team. Again. The same thing that happened to him when he was way younger. Carles left disappointed, but this time he wasn’t going to let destiny rule his life. He decided that he would practice so hard that they would admit him in the 15yo team. He told his family that he was accepted to the team and they bought him his first stick and skates, along with some pucks. Carles started practicing like a madman in his free time, and he even gave up pot. He watched videos from the great VHL players, focused on their technique, tried to get it down step by step. Once he felt like he had improved enough, he went to the ice rink again. He tried to convince the secretary that was working in the office to give him a try out for the team, but she wouldn’t concede. Carles spent there around 30 minutes arguing with her, until the coach of the team came. He kind of laughed at Carles first, but when he saw that he was so insistent on joining the team he decided to give him a try-out. The try-out Carles wasn’t a very good skater, he had only practiced in the public ice rink of Barcelona and he couldn’t go very fast there, and the coach noticed that. He was starting to rule him out but they moved on to shooting drills. He clapped shot after shot, he had an strength that very few kids of his age had, and the coach felt that it was on par with the 15 year olds from his team, if not better. He decided to give Carles a free-pass to skate in their ice rink and practice, and he would participate in a team try-out in 2 weeks. Carles practiced every day his skating for atleast 4 hours, his family started to worry about him but they would rather have him practicing that smoking. And then the day of the team try-out came. They did some warm up drills and jumped right into a practice game. The coach was super impressed with Carles’ skating, and then he started seeing how he played. He had amazing vision of the rink, and although he lacked skill and practice with his stick, you could see the kid’s potential. He ended up the practice with two assists and almost a goal, he hit the crossbar. The coach went up to him in the end and told him that he was in. Carles was super stoked. His career as a youngster Carles was 3 years younger than the other kids, but he was a big kid himself and you could barely notice the difference, well he had a bit of a baby face but that was it. He started out in the 4th line, and as time passed he jumped lines and eventually reached the 1st line when he was 16. By that time, Carles was already the best player of his team, raking up points each game and he even got called up to the senior team. He was a 3rd liner then at first, but as the season passed he jumped to the 1st line too. When Carles was 17, he started getting attention from the VHL scouts, and eventually, in his 18th birthday, he got an offer from the Saskatoon Wild for 1,5 million dollars, and he didn’t even think about it. The VHLM Carles is coming late into what will be his first season in the VHLM, and he is looking to make an impact in the SSK helping them get the cup. He has a week to gel with the team before the playoffs start, and depending on his performance he may get picked high in the next VHLM draft. He is now looking to be a top prospect for the S65 draft and making history.
  10. Carles Puigdemont Rookie Profile Name: Carles Puigdemont Height: 6' 3'' Weight: 220 pounds Hometown: Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain Position: Center Shoots: Right Team: Saskatoon Wild Carles Puigdemont, the 18 year old prospect coming up from Spain has been gaining attention from the scouts that are already planning for the S65 draft. Carles looks to be what is going to become one of the top prospects for the draft with his drive to improve and his dedication. Let’s move on to his strengths and weaknesses. Strenghts: One of his main strengths is passing, Carles is a natural passer, he has come into the league with a very well developed vision of the rink and he can find teammates and put them in the best positions to score all over the ice. With more than a season to improve, Carles is going to enter the VHL as one of the top threats for assists. But he has always been an offensive-minded center, and as such, he not only focuses on passing but on scoring too. We had the chance to interview him and he said that right now he is mainly training on improving his scoring, and he wants to top the rankings for the S64 VHLM season, entering in the S65 VHL as a nightmare for all goalies. And one of the things that we loved about him is that he only gave us a 10 minute interview and throughout the entire interview he was nervousm because he wanted to go back to training! Puigdemont has one of the highest drives to improve that the scouts have seen in a long time, and that is a quality that all GMs value a lot. Weaknesses: But not everything is perfect about Carles, let’s talk about what we think he needs to improve and what is going to be his biggest barriers to become an all-time great. First of all, we have seen some flaws in his communication. While he is a skilled passer and team-player, he seems to have some problems while communicating on defense, and it looks like, at least right now, doesn’t have what it takes to be a leader. But not everyone in the team has to be a leader! Another aspect that we could criticize about him would be his strength. While he weights a whopping 220lbs, he doesn’t seem to know how to utilize those pounds. He doesn’t have a natural instinct for checking and he will need to work hard on that. And last, although a bit cherry-picky, he needs to work on his English. He comes from the Spanish league and from what we saw and heard in the interview, he is very raw in that aspect. But hey, once he moves to Saskatoon and starts spending a lot of time with his teammates he is going to fix that easily. We think that Puigdemont right now has a very high ceiling, and he looks like he is going to be a first round pick in the S65 draft, but who knows if he has what it takes to play at a high level in the VHL. The Spanish League isn’t as competitive as the VHLM and he will have to adjust to that. With that said, he has what it takes to improve, and while he may have a rough first games in the VHLM, he is for sure going to be a star in the S64 VHLM and one of the top prospects for the S65 draft.

  13. Review: Not a bad edit, but I feel like it's kind of overedited. The effects may be a tad bit too much although I have to say that the blending off the logo with the shirt was well done and it looks good. Overall, I'd say that if you lowered the effects a little bit and maybe made the letters of "Diljodh" smaller it would be a great image.
  14. Review: Awesome ad, there isn't much more to say except that it is amazing. Really well done, looks like a real ad. The effects that you put on the image are very well fitting and the font and logo just look professional. The blending of the team's logo with the shirt is super well done. Really great job.
  15. Review: It isn't bad, but the editing done here could use some work. It's a cool ad but the change of colours to the Jolt Juice one's don't really blend that good in some parts of the image. I also feel like using a more "modern" font would go better with the style of the image.
  16. Review: Funny and cool banner, it really looks like a TV or website ad that would just pop out, really well done. The broken glass effect could use some improving, at first I glance I didn't really understand what was going on with the bottom pieces. Very cool banner tho!
  17. Review: Really good poster in my opinion. The player blends in really well with the other effects and the logos don't seem that intrusive. It's not overly complicated, and I like it. Maybe I wouldn't have blurred the Netflex logo that much so that it would follow with the image trend, but it is a great poster!
  18. Review: Simple sig, but a good looking one. I like the paint effect off the background and I feel like the top left touch gives it a nice effect to really combine with the team's colours. If I could change one thing, it would be probably the font, maybe give it an outline or try a different one, but overall really cool sig.
