  1. Sad to see you step down. We had that bitter rivalry in the finals in my last season of the E and it was some of the most fun I've had as a GM honestly, was fun to face someone I consider a friend. Good luck on the future in the league, whatever it may be for you
  2. NEW YORK AMERICANS PRESS CONFERENCE For Week-Ending of August 14, 2022 1). First things first, do you think Riga was robbed in their 5-game series against Davos? Yes, yes I do. 2). Are you surprised Jerome @MexicanCow123 was atop the individual leaders in the wild card round? Not really tbh, established player. 3). Semi final round in North America; who do you WANT to see in the finals? It's not us so I don't really care 4). Semi final round in Europe: who do you WANT to see in the finals? Also... don't care we don't have a shot, this seasons done to me lol 5). Would you ever manage a VHL team? Have you ever managed a VHL team? Have before, am again now, and loving it 6). What is your favorite non-VHL fantasy sport that you participate in? Football
  3. We caught up with NY goalie Augustus Kennedy after a private session at the rink where he was working with his goalie coach during the off-season. He was willing to give a bit of an interview as we asked a very crucial question.... where is New York going to be this season and what direction will they be taking? "Obviously our exact plans stay behind closed doors with the management team but I can tell you that the team is looking to move in a very positive and upward direction. I'm very excited for how the team is going to shape and how our chances will be also. I know that for some teams they are still playing but for those of us that unfortunately didn't make it, we've just got to move past this current season and focus on the future, and that's exactly what I'm doing, no days off. I plan to be a top goaltender in this league and this is going to be one of the ways I do it, by having one of the best work ethics and grind tactics in the league. Expect to see me all over the award scene soon..." And then Kennedy tipped his cap and walked away back to his car. He's made some bold statements and now we'll have to follow his career to hold him to it.
  4. LA GM Zack G was interviewed earlier by the media and was asked a very simple question... "what is LA going to look like next season" to which the GM had this to say: "We're going to look different... a lot different. I'm not the type of GM to sit back and just watch a team grow or hope that it grows with absolutely no effort being made. I've won a few championships through my tenures in the other leagues while waiting for my come-up and that is exactly my end goal for LA also. A lot of teams say "build solely from the draft and then keep on building from the draft" but for me, now that a core has been established, maybe now is the best time to make a bit of a splash, but I won't say too much more, the rest will stay behind these locked doors, however just know we'll be big players pre-draft, and post-draft while the offseason brews. I'd also like to say good luck to all my fellow GM's fighting for that big shiny championship." Ended with a heartfelt message to his team, Zack G then stepped away from the podium.
  5. NEW YORK AMERICANS PRESS CONFERENCE For Week-Ending of August 7, 2022 1). Have you been impressed with NYA G2's performances? NOT impressed (better not take my job the f***er) lol 2). With Season 84 wrapping up, what has been your best performance in a game this season? Probably one of my shutouts I'd reckon, had a few. 3). Who has been the team's MVP this season? Honestly a team effort. 4) Did you know the last time a New York player got a VHL individual award was Season 76? We're gonna change that very soon 5). Who on this roster will get the next VHL individual award? If I say me will it actually happen? 6). Do you personally consider Antarctica a continent? I do.... not.
  6. 1). How did you feel about the deadline with New York? I feel good, I like where we're at right now. 2) Are you disappointed at the lack of trades overall in the VHL at the trade deadline? Not really tbh, I feel like a lot of teams know what they already want/have. 3) I'm watching a documentary about Anthony Bourdain - what one city would you like to visit JUST to try the cuisine there? Japan, I'm a massive Japanese cuisine guy, would love to try it authentic. 4) What is your player's best dance move? The worm 5) Are there any point tasks types (ie., media spot, graphic, podcast...) that you have never done before? Podcasting, don't have the voice for it. 6) Can you parallel park? Very well actually, yes haha.
  7. A few weeks ago when looking at the standings and the overall performance of the Americans, I wrote an article similar to this expressing we may be in some trouble and the results were simply not swaying in our favour. Since i wrote that article, a lot has changed. GMing and management has made a huge change, with the now former GM MexicanCow stepping down and the then current AGM (now former AGM) Fresco taking over the reigns of the team. Whether this alone was the reason for recent success, or just sudden change in play style, the Americans can be just a bit happier to finally see some positive results going their way. Kennedy is also looking quite sharp despite the team not competing for a playoff spot. Among starters (50+ games played), Kennedy sits 2nd for SV% (.930%) only behind Moscows Emeritus (.941%), and also sits 3 in the league for shutouts (6). Overall, the Americans future looks very bright and the sky now is the limit for this young team. Should they be able to continue adding to this core, a playoff contention run is not ruled out of question.
  8. Seems like they need it! Feedback noted, coaching will be changed hahaha.
  9. 1). New York has won 4 out of its last 5 - are we turning a corner? Hopefully so, that would be awesome! 2). What position is the team in need of most going into Season 85? Probably defense tbh. 3). What was your favorite video game growing up? Rampage or Mario Party 4). What attribute do you think is most important to focus on first when you create a player? Depends what you're creating, really I'd say focus on just growing the key stats for both types of players (skaters, goalies). 5). Burger or hot dog? Burgers 100%. 6). When was the last time you did VHL trivia? No idea tbh... no idea haha.
  10. Happy Birthday VHL! been a blast being a part of most of these years here (took some time off here or there). Thanks for supplying some mindless fun for all of those years
  11. 1). What is your favorite memory of @MexicanCow123? Him and I being GM/AGM 2). You are in a room alone for 15 minutes and cannot speak or look at your phone, otherwise you will get tazed. Could you do it? I'll be good. 3). Are you more of a sweet or salty person? Mix of both really 4). Which VHLE franchise logo would you re-brand (NOT relocate) with a new logo and color scheme? Probably Bratislava. 5). Do you know how to salsa dance? Would you want to learn how to salsa dance? No, but I'm sure my wife would love if I did, she loves dancing. 6). Is @JardyB10 actually a sleeper agent waiting until activated in Alberta? I'm going to say yes.
  12. Augustus Kennedy is on the New York Americans who have the leagues third worst record while also holding their conferences second worst record, yet somehow Augustus Kennedy is overcoming the odds and hanging with some of the top goalies in the league for Save %. As of today, Augustus is currently sitting 4th among starters in the league with a .928% SV% and he's doing this while playing on a bottom team. Currently, he has the same SV% as Bubbles Utonium (Dragons, 3rd place in league) and Xavier Booberry (Titans, 7th place in the league) as well as holding a very... very slight lead over Riga's Tobias Reinhart (currently at .927%). All of this success with saving pucks comes while holding the second most goals against in the league (105) and facing the most amount of shots in the entire league (1468). Needless to say, it looks like the Americans have found their goalie of the future, now they just need to keep building around him...
  13. means a lot coming from you tbh, thank you!
  14. 1). Tied for the lowest point total in the VHL, Los Angeles and New York are in a best-of-7 for the next #1 overall pick... who wins? Why? My heart is torn as I'm the LA GM. So I'll have to go my team haha, even though I play here. 2). What statistic early on are you annoyed about with your player? Wins... lol 3) What brand of hockey apparel/equipment is your favorite? Adidas 4) Would you rather vacation at a beach in the winter, or ski resort in the summer? Ski resort in the summer because they make snow haha 5) What decade of the VHL (S1-10, 11-20, etc...) do you want to know more about? I've been here for all of them know it all. 6) If given the opportunity, would you willingly relocate to Siberia for a $100,000.00 (USD )increase in your salary? Sure why not, ballin' is a lifestyle right?
  15. I've seen a lot of hate around the league lately, more-so than I usually see. Some bickering, some people stepping over some lines, you name it. I've got to say, it's depressing honestly. I can't sit here and be a saint, my past is what it is, but I've left it just there, in the past. I haven't been part of any type of 'drama' for quite a while and honestly it's allowed me to enjoy the most out of this league, but lately I have to say, I'm so annoyed with the drama that is allowed to unfold in the league its baffling to me. It seems like the narrative switches so quick, when certain people are involved, it's deemed okay and 'just a joke' but when others are involved it's suddenly a big deal and a big problem. The divide is felt more than ever also, and this childish behaviour needs to just stop. This community, while never having been 'perfect' has seen better days for sure, and the very clear lack of direction towards a more 'positive' presence like is so commonly referenced is just the beginning in my mind. If this kind of stuff continues, it's only going to get worse, it needs to be put to bed before it continues. Be better... do better... and think before you speak.
  16. 1). What is your favorite holiday? Probably any of the one's where family comes together, so like Thanksgiving, Christmas? 2). What is your favorite New York color? Red White or Blue? Which one would you like to see as the home jersey base color? Blue is my favourite colour so that would always win haha. 3) Who has been the most successful player you've created/managed in the VHL? My own player was probably Radislav Mjers, overall managed? Probably Lincoln Tate. 4) What number is on your jersey? What is the significance? 69 cause I figured why not meme it for once y'know? 5) Where is the best place to watch fireworks? Well I am bias because Old Montreal is gorgeous and always has a firework display, worth the drive imo. 6) When the Americans win the championship, where are you taking the cup when you have it for a day? Back home to Quebec!
  17. When rookie goaltender Augustus Kennedy won his VHLM championship with the Saskatoon Wild, he thought life throughout the leagues (VHLE, VHL) would be somewhat similar. Of course, he never expected to be good right away, but he was hopeful since he was a goalie, he'd be going to a team that would be attempting to at the very least fight for a playoff spot. When he arrived in the VHLE, his thoughts of a championship were squashed when Oslo chose to not fill their team and instead plan for future seasons by stacking up the assets. While a good insight for the team, it was not a good mentality for Kennedy and he ended up near the bottom of the standings despite putting up insane numbers, this also caused him to lose out on any kind of 'hardware' for goalies. After that defeat, he went to the Americans that had showed a bit of promise the season prior, with adding some pieces to the team and poising themselves to be a decent team, however to start the season they officially have the worst record in the league and don't seem to be finding their edge. So the question now is, will Augustus eventually find that winning mentality in the pros? Or will he not? Time will tell...
