  4. *heavy breathing to get this out* 1. Some teams just consistently start rough. Better to start that way than to end that way, however. 2. *starts sobbing* 3. A lack of discipline. Many great players are intense but don't take penalties every game. 4. I like Jass. My fellow DMAN may have it! 5. *starts reading off a piece of paper, ensuring that nothing of the sort happened* 6. 5. This... marchthethirtyfirst's Nonsense news is brought to you by: Spellingly! 'Learn how to spell you idiots! For 9.99 a month. Because you're too lazy to do it yourself.' Rumor has it a blockbuster trade is underway in the VHL, a young sophomore defenseman has been rumored to be involved. The only other piece of information we have regarding this trade is that said defenseman is a useless tool who keeps forgetting to write articles or claim welfare. VHLTubers have resorted to calling the global pandemic 'that thing' instead of it's more common names due to the ridiculous ad policy's on the website. Have the VHLTube staff grown too greedy, catering to the advertisers and not their content producers? An ever-growing group of VHLTube documentary makers have founded their own streaming service to support their content. NYA defenseman David O'Quinn caught playing golf this weekend in a rather odd fashion, witness's report he was actually playing with a modified hockey stick with a big metal sphere attached to the end of it. Is this an odd way to practice his shot accuracy and power? More from our experts later. Those our our headlines for this afternoon. Later tonight, we will bring you: VHL medicare plan will not provide coverage for pre-existing conditions such as the following: Stupidity, dumbassery, assholery Potential new VHL expansion team to be based in the middle of a desert? How valuable ARE secondary assists? So valueless they're harmfull, our experts say. 244 words!
  6. This season wasn't an easy for an up-and-coming defenseman in New York. Chosen 12oa in the S69 VHL Entry Draft, he definitely wasn't expected to be a star, but to grow consistent was entirely expected, if not by his peers or management, at the very least by himself. This has not come to pass, however. Defenseman David O'Quinn missed nearly 30tpe this year, which at the end of the day could have been the difference between his team making the playoffs and missing. In terms of individual performance, O'Quinn registered 3 goals and 15 pts in 72 games, a rather modest collection of numbers compared to his 14 goals and 114 pts in his second and final VHLM season, where he helped lead Saskatoon to its most recent VHLM championship. There could be plenty of reasons for this, of course. There's always hardship every season, burnout, struggling to write a good article, struggling with the 'fun' aspect in general. But does this excuse all that missed TPE? and how much will that missed TPA affect him, and his team, in the future? Time will tell with that one. One thing we can tell now, however, is where does he place in his teams hierarchy? Well, it's not too pretty. Besides backup goaltender Thorvald Gunnarsson and former prospect Ryo Yamazuki II, O'Quinn is arguably the worst player on the entire team. He has plenty of room to grow, of course, most of which he will hopefully utilize, but there are a few players that were picked lower in his draft that are now better than him, and at the end of the day that is nothing short of shameful. As O'Quinn's contract is up this year, the Americans may see fit to not sign him at all, since he has turned out, so far, to be nothing but a depth defenseman on a team that needs better. The future has hope, though. O'Quinn still grew by a rather respectable 100 TPE this season, and if he continues this trend, in a few seasons he will still likely turn out to be a supporting top pair dman, not to carry a line or a team but to help a better player carry the load. This has been an awkward article in an awkward context and tense, by reporter Roger Pennies. * Former fan favourite player Fheoren Tleury has been caught doing various hallucinogenic drugs in New York clubs and back alleys, while previously he was considered a H.O.F forsure, speculation has circled stating that he will never be allowed in the H.O.F due to his extra-curricular actives, and what light it may put the league in. The highly anticipated Hockeypunk 2077 VHL roleplay game has been pushed back 6 months, says Latvian developer CD Projekt Blue. Many prominent speakers for the games community have tried to wrestle the fans calm, but rioting in the streets of Vancouver has, again, taken hold. This is their seventh riot this week, including this years third large-scale-protest protesting the existence of a VHL team in Calgary. A spokesperson for the protest organizers gave us this statement. 'Fuck the Lames and any team associated with them! and any team not associated with them! fuck calgary!', we're still trying to translate this, we think it might be in Finnish. 549 words, claiming doubles week from here aswell.

  9. 1. I think we can try, anyways! 2. Hey, some teams just have your number. No shame in that. 3. It's probably inexperience. It goes one way or the other, good early or good late. Good late is better though. 4. I guess this is the boring answer, but Mr. McWolf himself. 5. The cannonical 'son' of my player. Or maybe the grandson. 6. *stares intently at Randoms*
  10. This hasn't been the greatest rookie campaign for O'Quinn, but he's managed to stay in the positive and contribute in a minor fashion to the overall offensive production of the team. His growth has also slowed - nowhere near what it was in his rookie or sophomore VHLM season. (Note: Yeah, burnout happens. Trying my best, and i'm back in full force this week!) For what little he HAS contributed, it's likely been on defense. With a rather large amount of blocked shots by the rookie defenseman, in some capacity he has assisted the team to a surprising 5th place in the league. Infact - the NYA are only 5 points short of 3rd place. Whether or not the New York American's reach the playoffs or not - O'Quinn will be with them, chugging along, blocking shots, and attempting to be a high strung playmaking defenseman, even though as of yet, he has yet to show much potential in that area. Though interestingly, he has kept pace with the highly touted Edwin THE Encarnacion, with an equal amount of pts, and a rather high amount of shots blocked as previously mentioned. Now New York shoots for the starts - or specifically, the spot above Calgary, as home ice advantage is probably one of the last things New York can hope for this year.
  11. 1) As I'm sure we all know by now, teammate and all around great guy Elmebeck has recently passed away. What's your fondest memory of our friend? Discussing the future of Saskatoon - renaming it - what music the team would officialize, that kinda stuff. Miss you, man. 2) We are only 5 points out of fourth in the league, do you expect us to make it there? I expect us to try our best, as always! 3) We are only one goal off from last in the league with goals for, how do we fix it? I'm not so sure we can fix it this season. I don't think we need to, either. 4 [PLAYER]'s breakout season is bolstering our offense, being on pace for around 60 points. Who else is having a breakout season either with us or around the league? Our goaltending - a red guy. He's been super solid. 5) If you could move for one player in the league who would you want to see in the red, white and blue? Whoever the leagues best prospect and locker room personality is atm. 6) If you weren't playing hockey, what would you be doing? Playing... hockey. Simulators.
  12. (This is in-character) We all heard the news. The passing of a dear friend took a knife and gutted the hockey world - and besides Saskatoon, no where else did it hit harder than New York. His mentor, and the one who convinced him to join the VHL, had passed, this also being the father of his teammate. In the weeks following, while he still managed to show up to practice, O'Quinn was completely radio silent. Death isn't something that can't be put into words, and it's something that needs time to recover from. A member of the VHL-NET broadcast team finally approached O'Quinn late last night, questioning O'Quinn about his radio silence and apparent inactivity in regards to his team. O'Quinn was not lead to say much, but he informed us at VHL-NET that he would be releasing a statement in the following days in regards to the passing of his dear friend, and the his personal future. As expected, he did exactly that, and today he released a letter on his social media accounts, after sending it to us a few hours earlier. Here's what he had to say. 'I tried to make this as short as I could. Dear Friend, It was not many seasons ago that I had only just joined the professional hockey world, invited to Saskatoon due to past connections. Others were there to greet me, help me get adjusted - but so were you. When I was worried about future in the VHL - and the VHLM - I was reassured that despite my awkward circumstances, I would be given all the chances I needed to succeed in this stage of my life. You were right, in large part thanks to you, the team of S69 managed to shock ourselves with such a dominating season. I left after that - maybe in seasons to pass, after I had retired, I would join you in helping youngsters in Saskatoon. I don't know where my future will lead now, but dear friend, I will do everything In my power to honor your legacy of kindness, and your key quality, sincerity. You were always genuine - always wanted the best for everyone.' Quite a sad note. After this was released, O'Quinn was seen practicing with the same ferocity that had first gotten him into the VHL, and to the VHLM Cup, less than a year ago. This is a stark change from about the past month, where O'Quinn had seemed increasingly disinterested in the game as a whole. This must be a relief for his team, but we hope he himself is okay. None of this could have been easy to deal with, for anyone. (OOC) It was pretty hard to write this article. I've been all but inactive since before - and definitely since after the news. I tried to leave his name out of this article, out of respect. The community will move on, and we will remember this friend of ours. We don't have a choice, do we? Saskatoon will remember, and those who he talked to, friends and comrades, will too remember.

  16. 1. Consistent Growth amongst our players will probably be the biggest thing. Keep chugging, guys! 2. Again dont pay attention to the VHL overall much so. Not sure! 3. With a name like that, definitely PIMs. 4. Speaking of McWolf... 5. Not be as.. immature and undisciplined? It's pretty simple. 6. Obviously Jaxon Walker
  17. Hmph, not a single award! Thanks for an amazing season y'al.
  18. 1. Biggest idea on my mind would be awarding small TPE rewards for draft based articles or discussion. And predictions! (Maybe you can only predict in the league you're not in? Or are predictions already a thing?) 2. (IC) Well, practice! The occasional meal, a movie or two. However, most of my time is spent at home with my family when i'm off. 3. As i'm new to the VHL, I don't really know much about either the conferences. I'll learn, but as of yet i'm not sure. 4. (IC) At the end of the offseason I was notified by New York management, they had said they were very, very happy about my progress and that I had outdone what they expected. I'm definitely proud of that, and i'd say it's interesting. 5. Well.. drama isn't my cup of tea. Unless I caused it. Then I grab some popcorn. 6. What is this non-hockey sport?
  19. 2 hrs until midnight? no problem. In a quite short two and a half years, O'Quinn went from a semi-retired local hockey hero out of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, to a celebrated VHLM star, champion and leader, and also a VHL bluechip prospect. I'm Roger Pennies, and this is my story on O'Quinn's road to victory with the VHLM's Saskatoon Wild, over the last two seasons. In season 68, O'Quinn stormed into the scene as a rookie and almost entirely unknown among the members of the league (Though it may be fair to say he still is), but came out of the gate very strong, registering 6 goals and 63 pts in his first season. A year on, after being drafted 12oa by the New York Americans, O'Quinn had a legendary season: Both due to the outrageous success of his team overall, and the merits of his own individual success, with 99 assists and 15 goals on the season, aswell as 23 pts in 14 playoff matches. Of course, such production can be highly attributed to the quality of his chances, his teammates, etc, but it's impressive nonetheless, and he came out of it as a playoff hero. He has a small legacy in Saskatoon, having played 144 games for them and putting up many points, but his name will be remembered positively at the very least. As O'Quinn leaves, other important figures have left the team, so where Saskatoon will place in the VHLM next year is mostly a big question. Anyways - back to O'Quinn. In s70, O'Quinn is projected to be placed on the 2nd defensive pair of the New York Americans, as a darkhorse contender for rookie of the year and, hopefully, a high-tier playmaker in the works for the Americans. Here's the interview: P: "So, big year, lots of victories, are you taking some time to sit around and enjoy the atmosphere, the winnings, all of that?" O: "A little bit, yeah. Between spending time at home, celebrating with the boys one last time, and preparing for New York, i've actually had a little bit of time to just sit around and take it all in. It's been nice. P: "Speaaaaking of New York, what are your prospects lookin like out there? New house? Visit any clubs? Check out the new practice facilities yet? O: "We're still pretty early into the summer, I haven't had a chance to get back to practicing quite yet. I found a nice place in New York, it's just a small single bed apartment, nothing special. I'll be spending most of my 'home' time at home in the Cape. P: "Short interview again, but this is the final question. Where do you see your own stats next year?" O: "Cmon, rog. You're going to bore the viewers! You damn well know my answer to this question." And with that, O'Quinn gave me his typical tap on the shoulder and walked off. I think he would have answered with something like, 'It's about the team', as he usually does. This has been Roger Pennies, signing off. 514 words, claiming chrismtas event thing doubles on it too, ye
