The VHL has been around for 70+ seasons now, and we are paying our players half of the NHL? I can sum up the VHL elite in one simple word, GREED. Far too long have the fat cats at the top of the league prospered while its players have suffered. The NFL is currently voting on its new CBA deal. Where is our VHL union? I think the time has finally come for us players to come together and say enough is enough. What about the former players, our pension plan? Recently requirements were increased (400 TPE - 700 TPE) so that only better, more established players benefited. What happens to a rookie with a career-ending injury, does he not deserve medical help from the league? I say the players' band together and go on strike. Let the scabs who can't even get drafted play a season and see what happens to league revenue.

The VHL Hall of Fame is an elusive club with usually two or fewer members gaining entry each season. Factor in the Hall of Fame didn't induct its first player until Season 5. After 70 seasons, we have approximately 120 players enshrined as immortals. After 70 seasons, the VHL has had thousand(s) of players (at least one thousand). It might be time to take on the methods of other professional leagues and expand to senior players. The NFL, for instance, has the rule to relook over players who have been 25 years removed from the game. Once a list of players is narrowed down to finalists just as they do for modern-era players, there is a vote. The hall of fame voting panel must approve senior legacy players by a vote of 80%. We don't have to give them full VHL Hall of Fame rights. It would, however, it would be nice to add perhaps an honor mention type area. We can include a similar long-player bio with stats and accomplishments. We can shed light on past players that many were not around to see and honor those who may have been overshadowed by the league's best.

It is time a new generation of VHL snowflakes learn the correct and abrasive ways that is Mike. There are probably way too many people in the VHL now who don't know that I'm always right and they are just living in my world. I think this league could use a little drama.

In a surprise announcement today, the 90+-year-old VHL Hall-of-Famer Mike Szatkowski has resurfaced in the league. Not for some charity event, to manage some team, or to get back onto the ice. It has been to announce a new draftee DeFenz Mann. A 19-year-old defender from France hoping to one day play in the VHL. Szatkowski has gone into coaching youth skaters, hoping to enter the VHL. Using his vast array of hockey knowledge, connections around the league, and a desktop PC to create a new hockey school. With the rising cost of tuition in traditional colleges across the world, Szatkowski has gone online. In the first school of its kind: "The Mike Szatkowski Center for Kids Who Can't Play Hockey Good and Who Wanna Learn to Do Other Stuff Good Too." As more and more youths around this world are getting their degrees online, it is only a matter of time. Soon all professional sports leagues will be pulling talent from online schools such as Phoenix University online. Szatkowski is hoping to prove this business model with his first and only student Mann. More to come on how this even works. An online school where Szatkowski and Mann had never yet met face to face.
