Impressive graphic that really looks clean and to the point. I like the sharpness of the render as it draws your eyes right to it. Logo swap looks fine but maybe a missed opportunity to add the collar vhl logo. I love the text. The font is simple yet amazing, well done. Another thing is at the background is simple yet compliments the render with this Bokeh effect. I like the whole graphic and I have made plenty of Seattle graphics. Well done, keep them coming.

Hey all! Hope you're doing good. VHL/E/M seasons are underway and there's lots to talk about. Outside of the VHL, Alberta and good chunks of Canada have been choke held by a crazy cold spell. Lots are bitching about it, but they forget they've been blessed with Springtime temperatures up until January. We were literally cutting vegetation at work in January with the skidsteer...  and what they also forget is = no snow, cold = more fires. So you enjoy those nice days in Winter but please don't bitch when all there is filling the skies in Summer is smoke from horrendous wildfires. Works been okay. Nothing working in -50 after living in Australia for almost a year to even the playing fields. It is what it is. I was blessed with that amazing opportunity and it's all good, baby! Now... let's blab!

Recruiting has been awesome. We did an advertisement that you can find HERE! The advertisement I do believe happens somewhere around 4:07. The advertisement brought in I'd imagine close to around 100 members and I do feel like the recruitment team with the help of some others outside of it, did a great job reaching out, engaging and retaining the new members. So much so that whenever you log on, you see a bunch of new faces who are updating, earning and even donating! It's wicked to see. TikTok is now a thing for the recruitment team too. If you want to check it out, follow it or help grind us some followers, check it out HERE! We've posted 3 amazing weekly standing videos that @Triller made up. Not only this, but there's also been some small talk on another venture we're currently giving thought to that could also be very cool! 50 followers is more than we had before and we're sitting at over 1,200 views on the videos right now! Whatever gets the word out. One member found is one more to add to our awesome community.  Outside of recruitment, the Bears are rebuilding but we have a good group to build around. Players/members like @Berocka @zepheter @ROOKIE745 @Mongoose87 @NineIQ v2 and @pugsood are certainly good stepping stones to build off. Goalie is key nowadays and we got a killer. 7-5-0 and a .929 SV% in the E right now is something to be excited about. Matthew Highmore @NineIQ v2 is smacking the puck around in the M with 16 points in 10 GP, carrying on from his last season totals and heights of good play. SWN @zepheter is on pace for what he did last season which is great to see and @ROOKIE745 Kadachi has only played 12 GP but is basically halfway to last seasons totals. That has to feel good, hey? lol Then you got Aussie man. Started the first sim off I believe with 2 goals. and has since only gotten 1 assist. CLASSIC BEROCKA.
    SPECIAL OPERATION
Myself and my partner are sending @Berocka a Canadian Care package with snacks and all things CANADA within it. They'll find get to see what they're missing out on when they sink their taste buds into crispy, beautiful baked Dill Pickle and Ketchup chips... if y'all want, fire some ideas in here and maybe we send it their way!!

The Spirit Bear award is chosen each off-season by the GM of the Bears. There could be a lot of reasons why a member might be chosen and each season an explanation will/might be given. It's a thank you. It's an appreciation of what you've done for Seattle or maybe through that the VHL. You're deserving! Maybe you've overcome something crazy in life or have kicked it up an extra notch in the VHL TPE earning department. It's a good award for good things that are good. So, what's the catch?

The winner picks a charity of their choosing (I'd like to know why IF you're comfortable with sharing) and I will donate $10! I know it isn't much, but it's something.. and I mean, think of if I would have started this in Season 49.

Rex Wolffe Gregor, who goes under the username @oilmandan, has been a Bear more times that I can remember. It all started back with Dan Willinsky and seems to be back with every single player. Before we dive any deeper, sorry about that, Dan, lol. When we traded for him all those seasons ago, he immediately made a huge impact on the team, locker room and behind the scenes. He was a tad more involved when it came to the daily locker room and helping out with the council, but from S69 and onward, his role with the team has never changed. He's collected cups with the team, tons of amazing seasons and has helped me out so much. I have a group of people on here who are the most important. I'm not saying others aren't important but there's just a group I hold dear. They're loyal. They're honest. They're amazing people who don't judge, are kind and just accept everyone for who they are. We've enjoyed hours and hours of talks and keep in touch on what's going on in life - even if we haven't been connected to teams in seasons or even sometimes - YEARS! Dan fits into this group. One of my favourite people on this league and one of the members I trust the most with all of my and Seattle's secrets. Amazing member and an even better person who I'm fortunate enough to have met and continue a VHL relationship with to this day!

OMD, OMD, OMD! Thank you for all you've done for Seattle. I know you always chat and mention "this could be the last player" and all that shit, but I truly hope you keep coming back dude to whatever extent is comfortable for you. Age has no limits on these leagues no more. We've all grown with them. It's fantasy hockey and the league and my experience are certainly better with you part of it. CHEERS DUDE! With that being said, I asked,  "What's a charity fund/organization that you would donate to if you could right now? and why?" and Danny boy said "I'm always a fan of the stollery or the Alberta cancer foundation. I give to both every year. If I had to pick one right now I'd go stollery.

Hello, hello, HELLO! Happy Sunday. Hope those who are reading this are doing well and those who do not had to go to church today. Nothing wrong with that, but I can think of 2864672 better ways to spend a Sunday morning, afternoon, evening, night or any moment of time  I haven't written one of these, or really anything, since the week ending in October 29th. This makes the most sense because I think that was the week, or the week after, where I started my new job since returning home. Lots has happened since then and I've been super busy. When in Australia, I applied for a bunch of railroad opportunities and had gotten an interview with all of them. Through the process, I interviewed with 3 companies and ended up getting an offer for each of them. It was a tough choice, but I made it! This choice has me driving, at the moment, an hour and 20 minutes each way for work. It's kind of a pain in the ass but doesn't bother me too much yet when you think on the daily. In the grand of it all, 15 hours a week minimum are lost to driving. That's quite a lot of quality of life taken out, but that's okay for now. It also opens the door to moving somewhere new, which is exciting. Work has been great, the guys have been good and the company offers a lot of growth at the time. Flip over to the VHL, things have been slightly stale for me. The league is well on it's way now through the season and I certainly have some things to talk about. LETS BLAB!

@ROOKIE745 @zepheter @ShawnGlade @Berocka @Banackock and @Renomitsu are all coming along nicely for the Seattle rebuild/retool/redo/recycle and all of the reeeeees. We have a nice group of youth that is going to push this group forward fairly quickly. @Berocka is absolutely lighting things up at the moment in the VHLE, with 4 points in their last 36 games.   @ShawnGlade, while with a losing record, is playing pretty nicely in Oslo with a 10-15-4 record, but sporting an attractive .935SV%.  @Renomitsu is annihilating it right now for Stockholm, 54 points in 36 GP. Safe to say they're going to be ready next season when it comes to graduating to be a Bear! @zepheter has fit in nicely with Seattle, playing a lot stronger than I expected and playing the up and coming, depth role very nicely. @ROOKIE745 is now just shy of 400 TPE, a slower rookie season, but things are surely to heat up for them as their career and earning goes on! Seattle has had a rough little stretch lately but thats okay. We're rebuilding and it's expected. We're good with either way, but do not have our firsts, so playoffs at the least would be nice. The market is starting to open up a little bit. DC claimed in the off-season they didn't need a strong goalie to win, and now sit behind teams like Seattle in the standings. I don't think this will last forever. They DO have a good team, but I bet they'd be stronger with better options in goal. 2.88 GAA is not going to win you championships, or at the very least, not easily.  My player is chugging along nicely. It's nice to see because it seems like they almost I always struggle to be elite now. The fact that Targaryen has 29 points through 37 games is a plus imo. A lot of better, more elite players, have done a lot worse.   Excited for the future of this team and of this career.

Randy Bobandy, also known by their member name as @AJW, is an absolute gem to me. He was never really part of the S67 dynasty Bears which drew a good group of us lads like Berocka, Dok, IR, Rayz, Frosty, oilmandan, etc together - but over time, with his last player and this player, he's become a VHL brother to me. He's helped huge with the team, is incredibly loyal and is always promoting activity and positive vibes in the locker room. All while tackling school and going crazy with football! The guy is awesome and is a perfect example of a Seattle Bear! Unfortunately their time with the Bears was cut short this season, but their accomplishments and efforts will never be forgotten by myself and despite them being gone, they will always be a Bear and more importantly, a VHL brother! I asked AJ, "What's a charity fund/organization that you would donate to if you could right now? and why?" over snapchat and they mentioned that they don't have any specifics and would like to help out some homeless foundation/community. Last season we went with Boyle Street in Edmonton after Tavish DeGroot (Rory)  took home the first ever Spirit Bear Award! With a quick Google search, I find that Los Angeles has the highest homeless population, along with California leading the way. With that being said, I went ahead and made a $10.40 (to help cover fees) towards the Los Angeles Mission Homeless Shelter. Thank you @AJW for everything you've done for Seattle, myself and the VHL. Though... you did leave me on read

    83. Seattle lost to Vancouver. Overall, what are your thoughts on the season as a final reflection?
I don't think disappointment is the right word. I thought the team was better than it performed, but sometimes you get what you get with this sim. Maybe a fresh start is necessary to get things going.

    84. Who are you rooting for now that Seattle is done?
Probably London or Helsinki. It'd be a good underdog story if they won.

    85. What are your players plans for the off-season?
Hopefully get better haha. Just prep for the upcoming season. Can't waste any time if he's supposed to be called up.

    86. Given your players season, is there anything (build wise) you think you could/should change?
Just about anything will improve the shit show that he put on. I don't have the drive to earn enough to add to scoring, but the defensive build has been worthless. Maybe I just need more time for the build to round out and finally make an impact.

    87. OCTOBER IS HERE!!!!! Any fun plans upcoming this month?
A couple of birthdays in the family that I'm excited about. Going to some NHL games as well. Honestly can't wait. It's gonna be a great month!

    88. Who do you feel is the favourite to win the playoffs? why?
Davos for sure. Great team and defending champs. It'll be tough for them to repeat, but they have the best chance.

Our first inductee today is the finest goalie of his generation, having his 3 crowning seasons with 3 different teams, proving he was no product of his teams as the VHL came out of the high scoring era into one likely to be dominated by goalies again following in the footsteps of Booberry. Booberry came agonisingly close to a Continental Cup with back-to-back finals losses in his final 2 seasons, but proved to be consistent enough to become just the 2nd goalie Hall of Famer in the 16-team era, securing his name among the league's all time greats.

Our 2nd inductee is reasonably rare 7-season career, Brendan Marner working his way from a relative unknown on draft day to becoming arguably the face of the 2nd era of the Warsaw Predators, one of the league's dominant forces circa S84-S85. Marner kicked off his career with a 100-point season and fell below that mark just twice in his next 6 seasons, consistently finding himself among the league's top forwards in his prime, peaking as top scorer in S87.

    S90 VHL Draft and Prospects
Severus Targaryen Player Page (Bana's Player)

Hello VHL.  Hope things are going good for you on your side of the world.. T-minus 36 days until we leave Perth for the East coast where were gonna do some mini stops before we head home back to Canada. We're going to be stopping in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns before heading home and I'm pretty excited about that! 52 days until we're back home and that's also something I'm fairly excited about. Mixed emotions. Excited for some things, not for some others and then there's definitely going to be some things I will miss about here too. For the VHL, off-season hit and it's been madness again for Seattle. Lot's of trades, drafting, signings, WJC hype and all of that. It's been pretty busy for me but it's also been a lot of fun working with everyone to make it as fun as it is. But yeah, lots happening so let's get this blabbing over with!

Draft happened and my player, Severus Targaryen, was selected by the Seattle Bears at 11th overall. I was so close to clicking the button on someone else... it was soooooo close.. and they would have been happy in Seattle and been a legend.. but Targaryen is 100%... nothing else really is. It's the safest bet for anything and everything and it's in a position that holds a lot more value when it comes to activity, build, loyalty etc... We also managed to select @zepheter  which I'm 10/10 excited about. They're going to be a huge presence on the Bears blue line for seasons to come. @Jaja Dingdong @Jayrad28 @Hockeywizard676 round out Seattle's draft and overall, not bad.. Happy moving forward. I think there's some work we could do here.. some potential..  @Jaja Dingdong accepted their contract before even @zepheter... SO GG !!! Now let's get you doing other kinds of tasks! They will help you earn more TPE, don't take too much time and you'll be better.. faster too... so it's more fun! Trivia on the portal is fun too. You can guess and have 25% odds! Seattle has made a lot of trades and we once again look like a completely new team this season.. Boga, Maloish, Gregor, Bobandy @Bojovnik @youloser1337 @oilmandan @AJW are the only players remaining from last seasons roster. Tons of new faces and absolute crazy trades were made to bring in elite talent like @Rhynex Entertainment, @leandrofg @DMaximus @Webberj @WildfireMicro... Amazing off-season. The group has shown good potential in the LR.. once the season starts going, it's going to be great... We need to find one more piece. We have something lined up.. also something back up just incase.. Happy, happy, Happy..  Go Bears Go! World Juniors are happening and it's been a lot of fun so far! Managers have been a good group and Team Asia has surprisingly done some good! They're currently battling it out for a Bronze medal.. which is a lot more than most were probably thinking.. Overall I think they're ranked 5/5 (last) for TPE and I think the drop between 4->5 and 5->6 are pretty decent too. Overall though, massive success. @Zetterberg has been an amazing presence as leader and is always there to help. @N0HBDY has done well simulating and the hype and activity has been okay I suppose! ASIA, ASIA, ASIA.

Excited for the week ahead... What's coming up for the league? VHLE Draft just happened.. so VHLM draft? Then just league prep I think? Good stuff. Take care league!

    Seattle Bears Jersey Retirement

    Hello,

I hope you are all doing amazing. It's been awhile since I've done one of these so bear with me. Throughout the entirety of the Seattle Bears history, there has been some legendary players. Throughout my 41, heading into 42 seasons with the Seattle Bears family and organization, I have some some legendary players pass through the locker rooms and called Seattle their home. Certain players leave a special mark and forever become a part of Seattle history and memory. This off-season, I'm very excited to add a couple more names to this. Please take this time on congratulating the following members with me

    (S81) Hulk Hogan 2

After being selected 10th overall in the M drafted and 1st overall in the E draft, Hogan was eventually selected 6th overall by the Seattle Bears in the S81 VHL Entry Draft. We didn't know it then, but Hulk Hogan 2 would one day become @Hogan's second career long player with the Bears. It would also mark the second player Hogan has found strong success with in a Bears uniform and once again a Bears team that he has lifted the Continental Cup with, having won one with the Seattle Bears team in S83. Hogan has been a huge part of Seattle since he got there and I always think he will be a big part of the team in some ways. Hulk Hogan 2 is an echo from his first player on why he is one of the biggest Seattle legends of all-time!

    (S61) Matt Thompson

They've been asking almost as long as I've been a GM. I can actually still hear it despite writing this now. "When are you going to finally do it?", @Beketov would ask almost any time it was brought up. It was always a tease. For some reason I couldn't get over the fact that it was only 360 games played in a Bears jersey, 5 seasons and then leaving in Free Agency. Did the leaving sour the taste in fans memories? Managements dreams nightmares when they look back on it? The highs were high. Thompson was one of the most explosive players I've ever GM'd in my time. They're also one of the most legendary members of all-time. I have a small project on the go for Seattle right now (it's bigger than small).. and it opened my eyes that not only is Thompson 5th for goals scored all time in much less games played than 1-4... but he's also 2nd all-time for shots and is 2nd all-time for most hat tricks (S62).

Congrats to both of you.. You both have a lot of history with Seattle and this is very deserving. Thank you for your efforts during these players!

Disappointing finish to last season. We had a team that we felt could go deep, had a strong run to finish the season but then just slipped and fell against a New York Americans squad. It happens, but we're fresh and we're back. 4 players from last years roster remains. The rest are new and they've brought with them a new element to the Seattle Bears organization. We're hungry. We're alive and we're most certainly ready for the season. Happy to have these 3 as leaders and excited for this season with our current roster. We have a great group!

    @kirbithan
Continuing with our building a contender series, we’ll take a look at a S84 trade between Davos and Malmo, the trade was as follows:

Which to date, has developed into this:

Just to provide some context on the above trade tree, here is what each colour means; Green = Still on team and playing; Light Blue = Prospect for team; Orange = Played and retired with team; Yellow = Played and was traded; Red = Never played for team and is current FA. Also in this case to keep things a bit more organized, boxes are around each trades return for all of the trades.

We’ll start things off with Davos, Boston @CanucksFan never played for the team and is currently a VHLE free agent. Mason Jones @Masu Chan on the other hand played for Davos for 6 seasons prior to retiring, in that time he produced very well with 193 goals and 216 assists for a total of 409 points in 432 games played. Jones also performed very well in the playoffs with 38 goals and 49 assists for a total of 87 points in 81 games and currently holds the record for most playoff goals with Davos and is 2nd in points. Jones was never traded from Davos, and retired after winning the S89 Continental Cup.

Now moving onto the S85 MAL 2nd, Davos used this pick to select Karl Pederson @JeffD. Pederson was then traded to Calgary in a 3-way trade which saw Davos acquire Deron Nesbitt @AW13, the S86 CGY 1st, and S86 HSK 2nd. Of those picks Davos would only use one of them as they selected Lachlan Summers @kirbithan with the 1st round pick, Summers currently has a 89-33-14 record and a 0.929 career SV% with Davos. Both Deron Nesbitt and the S86 HSK 2nd would be traded.

Deron Nesbitt was traded to Seattle after 14 games where they had 10 points in exchange for Calix Pearce @Laine, the S87 SEA 3rd, and the S88 SEA 3rd. All of which would be traded.

Pearce was traded with 2 4ths for 2 4ths after 58 games where he had 26 points. Prior to being used, one of the 4ths and another 4th would be traded for John Poremba Jr @CrlineDijohn14, Poremba would play 1 season in Davos and then be traded to D.C. for Jack The Ripper @Ripper, who would also play 1 season in Davos, and would then be traded for Noodles Marconi @Eynhallow. In total Poremba and Ripper would have 54 points in their 2 combined seasons.

The S87 SEA 3rd would be traded to Riga with Maxwell Mathias @Underclass_Hero for Sunrise van de Schubbekuteveen @Thunfish, they would retire with Davos after having 31 points in 55 games prior to a cup run that saw Davos make the conference finals for the first time in a while.

Lastly, the S88 SEA 3rd would be traded with Vinny Detroit @dasboot to Los Angeles for a S88 2nd where Davos would select Tellemore Dew @Spade18 and a S89 LAS 3rd. The S89 LAS 3rd would then be traded with Gus Bentley @boatsinking123, Isamu Knievel @jakkysosa, and a S88 DAV 1st to Riga for Florida Man @zepheter. Florida Man would play the better part of 2 seasons for Davos prior to retiring, in that stretch they would have 43 goals and 64 assists for a total of 107 points.

Now moving way back to the S86 HSK 2nd that Davos acquired in the trade for Deron Nesbitt, Davos would trade this pick with Tom Creeg @Creegan610, a 2nd and a 3rd for Alfred Champagne @Anthique, who is still on Davos to date. Champagne currently has 75 goals and 80 assists for a total of 155 points in 288 games played, all with Davos.

After I finished writing this I decided to ruin it for myself as I then traded Tullemore Dew (acquired in the trade that sent Vinny Detroit to LAS) to Chicago along with the S90 DAV 3rd. In exchange Davos received DB III @wcats, and a S91 CHI 3rd.

Now finally moving onto Malmo, where @KaleebtheMightydecided to trade a lot as all but one of the initial pieces would be traded. The one that was not traded was the S86 DAV 2nd, where Malmo selected Sjin @Sjin. Sjin would never play for Malmo and is currently a prospect with London.

In terms of the players that were actually traded, we’ll cover the Noodles Marconi branch first as it is by far the biggest and most complex. Marconi was traded with a 4th to Riga for a 3rd. That 3rd was then traded with Donny Carter @TheNeonShaman to Vancouver for Watson Power @Tape-to-Tape and William Futch @Futch.

After 34 games with Malmo each, Power and Futch would put up 30 and 8 points respectively before being traded together again. Power and Futch were sent to Chicago for a S87 CHI 1st, and a S88 CHI 3rd. The 3rd was then traded to Vancouver for Bob Vladovechsenkchushkin @Grape.

Bob would perform well in their 1 season with Malmo where they had 35 goals and 30 assists for 65 points in 72 games. Bob V. would then be traded in the S88 offseason to Helsinki along with Matty Fire @MattyFired and Mo Probert @Yahtzee for Tim Stuzle @NineIQ v2, S89 VAN 2nd, and two 3rds. Tim Stuzle would not be traded and is still a prospect in Malmo, and Malmo would select Karl Herzlich @LastGoon007 with the 2nd round pick. Both 3rd round picks would be traded.

The first 3rd would be traded for Jack the Ripper, who would then be traded with a 4th for a 2nd. The second 3rd would be traded with a 2nd to London for Ivan Retoslav @eagle_3450. To date Retoslav has 73 points in 72 games played and is currently a pending UFA with Malmo.

Now going back to the S87 CHI 1st that Malmo acquired for Power and Futch. Malmo would use this pick to select Logan Foley @WildfireMicro, Foley would never play for Malmo as they would be traded in a blockbuster early in the S90 offseason as Malmo would trade them, and two 2nds to Seattle for Daniel Weaver @ThePerfectNut. That finally concludes the Noodles Marconi side of things for Malmo.

Back to the initial trade, Malmo would trade the S85 Warsaw 3rd and a S85 1st to New York for a later 1st, where they would select Tater Tottingham @Trunkxolotl, a 2nd and a 4th. The 2nd and 4th would then be traded to Davos for a 3rd and Justin Adolfson @NJDevils24. With the 3rd, Malmo selected Mats Zuccarello @Battlepopcorn, who is now retired. Adolfson would play in Malmo for 2 seasons where they would have 51 points. Neither Zuccarello or Adolfson would be traded. However, Tottingham would be.

For the final time, going back to the initial trade as Malmo would select Reid Johnson @TopTiddee2 with the S85 Davos 1st. Johnson would then be traded with Tater Tottingham, Doug Britton @Doug Britton, and a S87 MAL 2nd to Helsinki for Cobalt Burns @Ledge, Hammar Voss @BOOM, and a 4th (not used). Burns would not be traded and would go to free agency after 2 seasons and a bit in Malmo where they had 98 points in 167 games. Voss on the other hand would be traded after just 23 games in Malmo where they had 25 points. Malmo sent Voss to Moscow for two second round picks that Malmo would use to select Justin Lion @Emperor_Fun, who should make his VHL debut this season and Big B @Bigb33. Both Lion and B are currently prospects in Malmo’s system. That concludes our trade tree (woo)!

Looking back it is interesting to see the different trajectories of both teams as Davos was competing for a cup for all the time since the initial trade, whereas for Malmo you can almost see their re-tool process laid out. As far as a winner it is hard to tell as both teams went in vastly different directions, so I’ll end this one with a question: Who do you think won the trade given Davos’s success, and Malmo’s extremely bright future?

    @leandrofg
    Welcome everyone,
We can all agree that the VHLE is a very “controversial” league, but regardless of what all the haters are saying about the E, the league is already ten seasons old. A lot of things happened in the last ten seasons and in this VSN article, we are going to look at the most important moments of the life of the VHLE.

    1.  The first VHLE entry draft in S80

At the time, there were only 6 teams in the league and the draft was in a snake format so the order of the selections for the 7-12 picks were the opposite of the order of the selections for the 1-6 picks. For the S80 draft, there were 16 rounds with 6 picks each for a total of 96 drafted players. The Cologne Express had the first overall pick and they selected Darth Kaprizov @Darth Kaprizov to be the first player of the VHLE’s history. A lot of hidden gems were found in this draft, but the biggest is without a doubt the 82nd overall pick of the Bratislava Watchmen in the 14th round, Orion D H Chiester IX @Donno100. Chiester IX played for the Watchmen for seven seasons from S80 to S86 and he won the trophy for the best goaltender of the regular season, that was later named after him, three seasons in a row from S83 to S85.

    2. The arrival of Oslo and Geneva in the VHLE

After only one season with six teams, the commissioners decided that it was not enough and that the league needed two more teams. This is when the Yukon Rush and the Minnesota Storm left the VHLM to become the Geneva Rush and the Oslo Storm in the VHLE. The Oslo Storm will become one of the best franchises in the history of the VHLE while Geneva will not have the same prestige that the Yukon Rush had in the VHLM.

    3. Three finals in a row for the Rome Gladiators

After losing the series 4-3 to the Vasteras Iron Eagles in the first ever final of the Renaissance Cup in S80, the Rome Gladiators also made it into the final of the playoffs in S81 and S82 to make it into three finals appearances in a row. This sequence is the second longest in the league’s history after the Storm’s sequence between S85 and S88. The Rome Gladiators lost the S81 final to the Stockholm Vikings in four little games and it is only in their third final appearances in S82 that they won their first Renaissance Cup in franchise history. To win the Cup, the Gladiators defeated the Cologne Express 4-3 after losing the first three games of the series.

    4. Oslo’s domination

After Rome in the early 80s, the mid-late 80s were Oslo’s domination time. Indeed, the Oslo Storm made the playoffs from S85 to S89, and they also reached the final from S85 to S88. From these appearances, they won three of them, in S85, S86 and S88. Year after year, Oslo had a competitive team and even if they were not the best team on paper, they always managed to play well together and be the best team on the ice. We also must give credit to @JB123 for his incredible work as Oslo’s GM since he joined the team in S83. He managed to keep his player on the team for a long time and this is how the team built his chemistry. The best example is Brodie Landry III @Brodie_Landry who played with Oslo from S85 to S87 and was a really important piece to win the Cup in S85 and S86.

    5. The departure of Istanbul and Geneva

After nine seasons with eight teams in the VHLE, the commissioners decided that there was not enough active player in the league to keep that many teams. Since Geneva and Istanbul are not the franchises with the biggest history in the league, it was logical that it was these two teams that had to go. Indeed, Geneva never won the Renaissance Cup, and they never even made the final. For their part, Istanbul won the Renaissance Cup once in S84 and made the final again in S89. The departure of the two franchises means that the VHLE will only count six teams and four of them will make the playoffs each season. The 1st team in the standings will play against the 4th team and the 2nd against the 3rd in a best of 7 series and the winners of each series will face each other in the final of the Renaissance Cup in a best of 7 series.

    6. The individual trophies

From S80 to S84, the trophies in the VHLE did not have a name and were called by what they were, like best goalie, playoffs MVP, etc. However, in S85 the league decided that it would be time to give the trophies some names. The six trophies that were awarded in S84 have been named after former players that best represent the reason they are given. We will start with the Ronan Lavelle @Arce Trophy who is awarded to the most valuable player of the regular season. Lavelle won the trophy in S82 with 49 goals and 101 points with the Geneva Rush. After, there is the Florida Man @zepheter Trophy who is awarded to the player deemed to be the most valuable player in the playoffs. Man won it in S81 after scoring 9 goals and 20 points in only 9 games with the Stockholm Vikings. Then, the Orion D H Chiester IX @Donno100 Trophy is awarded to the top goalie in the VHLE. Chiester IX won this trophy three times in a row in S83, S84 and S85 all with the Bratislava Watchmen. Subsequently, the Jake Thunder @Thunder Trophy is given to the top defenseman of the regular season. Thunder won it in S83 after blocking 216 shots and recording 197 hits with the Oslo Storm. The last player individual trophy is the Aldwin Craig @Eldredman Trophy who is awarded to the best two-way forward in the VHLE. Craig won it in S82 with the Stockholm Vikings after scoring 70 points and recording 450 hits in only one season. Finally, we have the Thadius Sales @thadthrasher Trophy who is awarded to the best GM in the league. Sales won it twice with the Stockholm Vikings in S80 and S81, but without taking away any of his credit, I believe that another GM would deserve to have his name on this trophy, and it is @JB123 who also won it twice (S85, S87), but this is a subject for the next article…

Thanks everyone for reading, it is all for me, I hope you liked it and see you next time for part II.
