Welcome all to the S89 Hall of Fame induction ceremony!

G - Xavier Booberry, S81-S88 :hel::dav::sea:

 RS: 520 GP, 282 W, 177 L, 49 OTL, 2.64 GAA, .926 SV%, 34 SO

 PO: 68 GP, 37 W, 23 L, 8 OTL, 2.61 GAA, .926 SV%, 2 SO

S83 Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Oustanding)

S83 Aidan Shaw Trophy (Top Goalie)

S83 Greg Clegane Trophy (Lowest GAA)

S85 Aidan Shaw Trophy (Top Goalie)

S88 Scotty Campbell Trophy (Most Valuable)

S88 Aidan Shaw Trophy (Top Goalie)

3x All-VHL First Team (S83, S85, S88)

Our first inductee today is the finest goalie of his generation, having his 3 crowning seasons with 3 different teams, proving he was no product of his teams as the VHL came out of the high scoring era into one likely to be dominated by goalies again following in the footsteps of Booberry. Booberry came agonisingly close to a Continental Cup with back-to-back finals losses in his final 2 seasons, but proved to be consistent enough to become just the 2nd goalie Hall of Famer in the 16-team era, securing his name among the league's all time greats.

LW - Brendan Marner, S82-S88 :war:

RS: 504 GP, 289 G, 396 A, 685 P, +121, 721 PIM, 1,622 HIT, 324 SB, 46 GW

PO: 45 GP, 23 G, 23 A, 46 P, -2, 40 PIM, 113 HIT, 35 SB, 4 GW

S87 Brett Slobodzian Trophy (Most Oustanding)

S87 Mike Szatkowski Trophy (Most Points)

S88 Scott Boulet Trophy (Top Two-Way Forward)

2x All-VHL First Team (S87, S88)

2x All-VHL Second Team (S85, S86)

One Continental Cup (S84)

Our 2nd inductee is reasonably rare 7-season career, Brendan Marner working his way from a relative unknown on draft day to becoming arguably the face of the 2nd era of the Warsaw Predators, one of the league's dominant forces circa S84-S85. Marner kicked off his career with a 100-point season and fell below that mark just twice in his next 6 seasons, consistently finding himself among the league's top forwards in his prime, peaking as top scorer in S87.

Voting results

Xavier Booberry - 13/16

Brendan Marner - 10/16

--------

Matty Socks - 4/16

Papa Emeritus - 2/16

Oskar Lindbergh - 1/16

Jakab Holik, Kristof Welch, Zach Kisslinger II, Hari Singh Nalwa - 0/16

Congratulations @CowboyinAmerica and @MetalToday

Fourth in rookie scoring that year though.

I wonder when the other three will be inducted in HoF

Congrats on the careers though, Metal and CIA. Easy first ballot votes.

Lee Xin FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY once more

I mean the overall scoring looks decent at first sight, however, if you consider the era (a lot of maxed scoring possible back then, even with a mediocre earning pace) it fades a little. Also I could 'only' find team awards in the respective folders (certainly nothing to be ashamed of, and absolutely noteworthy). Alas, I think we can agree that for the induction into the HOF it is more about individual accolades rather than team efforts.

Don't get me wrong, I think Xin has been a decent-good player for their team, but decent-good does not get you into the hall of fame. Also for a forward with emphasis on scoring (highest value together with defence, no checking) the goal scoring was a little on the low side imo and only reached or eclipsed fifty goals once (again in a period where scoring was more prevalent than it is now). So definitely not shitting on this player at all, they had a respectable career. All I am saying is I can see why they would not have been considered for the HOF this time around when there are more convincing candidates available.

Dang I didn't realize Brendan Marner would be an inducted HOF member, that's awesome!

As someone who definitely threw a lot of weight (trust me, I’m one big dude…..physically) behind your induction, it was very well deserved.

Goals: 2nd,4th,8th
Assists: 5th,6th,7th,9th
Points: 1st,2nd,3rd,3rd

Four seasons as a top-3 scorer is pretty remarkable.

Really good player, but not sure his place among the elite offensively was there for his era.

Like compared to others that had been discussed.

Disclaimer: Obviously this is just one form of comparing so it shouldn’t be the end all-be all, but was rather just part of my contribution to the discussion.
