  5. We won when it mattered Was testing different lines/tactics throughout the round robin haha but was a great tournament for everyone!
  6. 1)What are your thoughts on your season? So far so good, been having my best season to date and still improving. 2)What are your thoughts on how your team is doing? We are doing great, lots of depth on the team and a great LR. Currently in 1st and hoping to finish that way. 3)Who has been your teams best player? HHH for sure, he has been leading the team on offense 4) If you were to drop the gloves with any other VHLer, who would it be and why? don't be afraid to tag a bitch. Would have to be Rayz Funk, everyone loves a good goalie fight @Rayzor_7 5)Who makes it to the finals out of North America? Has to be us, Beaviss has put together a strong team. Anything short of a finals would be a disappointment 6)What are your thoughts on 12 days of Christmas? I love it, great for VHL to give back to some of the players. I think this definitely boosts morale for the whole league @Banackock Thanks for the questions!
  7. The one thing that I think should be added though is TPE for the winners? 3 TPE for Gold 2 TPE for Silver 1 TPE for Bronze
  8. As we celebrate the unsung heroes of the VHL this week, I would like to take the time to talk about the Vancouver Wolves unsung hero. My choice would be β-QUE G. Not much is really known about him. He just comes to the games, sits on the bench and watches the team play for the most part. He never complains about ice time, he is always there to help the team out in practice and is always 100% ready when called upon to do this job. Backup goalies are very important in the VHL. Sure, it’s understandable that everyone would prefer to be a teams #1 goalie but this is just not going to happen. Most of every teams unsung heroes are the back up goalies who come in and save the day when the number one goalie is injured, needs a break or is just having a bad night in between the pipes. This season β-QUE G was called into action for the first 8 games of the season. Most fans did not expect anything from him. He was not good enough to be a starter and everyone, even the opposing teams, wrote him off and expected 8 quick losses to start the season. β-QUE G proved them all wrong. Over his 8 starts he went an incredible 7-1, with a .913 save percentage and a 2.27 GAA. He beat some pretty strong teams along the way such as Toronto twice, New York and even shut out Calgary. His play was so good that many in the locker room were questioning whether he should be the starter for the season and even Eagles, who was the starter, said that if β-QUE G continues playing well, he should get all the starts. “ He played excellent for us and helped us win a bunch of games that everyone thought we would lose. His numbers were very good and pretty much equivalent to our starters numbers. He just played lights out” Said the Wolves goalie coach Having two calm and well-poised goalies is a problem every VHL GM would love to have as the key to any championship team is to be solid between the pipes. Even though Eagles will get the start for the rest of the season and the playoffs, its is great to know that if something were to happen to Eagles that the Wolves have a reliable backup ready to go. “ He has been such a big part of our group this season. He shows up when called upon and always does his best to help the team win” Said Eagles “ That is what you are looking for in a backup, someone that can push you to play your best and someone that is reliable” What does the future hold for the Wolves unsung hero? We are not to sure but we can say with 100% accuracy that he will always be ready to go, will never leave the Wolves team and jump in whenever the Wolves call upon his services. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Already had a media article submitted this week, will be using this for week ending Dec 29 for theme week
  9. Europe's unsung hero from this years WJC tournament is no other then Guy Lesiuer @KC15 At the start of the tournament Lesiuer started on the 3rd line but eventually worked his way up to the first line starting in game 4. Throughout the whole tournament there was no complaints of where he played, he just showed up and produced with a smile on his face. His hard work paid off as he finished the round robin with 6 goals, 5 assists and 11 points to share the team lead in points. Lesiuers heroics came in the Finals gams vs Asia where he netted 2 goals to help Europe win another gold medal. His second goal of the game was the game winner! This goes to show that even if you start on the bottom line, with hard work and determination you can make your way up to the top line and score the game winning goal for your team to win gold!
  10. Huge win! Line changes helped knock off the favorites. Well played Asia, you guys had an amazing run! Congratulations to all the Europe players!
  11. Currently WJC GM of Europe and last season Asia so I can speak to some of these points that I don't agree with or that are already being done. I don't think the tournament format needs to change, look at this season of the WJC. Asia was the underdog and now they will be playing in the finals. It is a good underdog story and it happens often in the WJC. For Eligibility/Line Rules: This is already a rule and is already happening. We cannot pick inactives and the commissioners will go over every roster selection to make sure we only picked active players. We are asked by the commissioners to only pick active players. Once all active players are picked then we can take an inactive or two but they will usually play on the lower line. Asia/World also get to pick from the other teams rosters so this helps with having all active players in the range play. This is not true, Rosters are selected when the WJC tournament is announced. If a team picked someone that was at 345 but by the time the tournament started they went up to 352, those players were still eligible, they would just be at the TPE when the tournament was announced so 345. This happened this year with Guy Sasakamoose (Team Canada). He was under when selected but over when the tournament started, he still played just at the lower TPE

  17. Boris 141 at tournament start vs 121 Sjostrom
  18. @DMaximus He played vs Asia in the round robin. Unfortunately updates dont get applied to WJC, Players stay with same TPA that they had during the selection phase(if they did update Sjostrom would get the start in the elimination round as he has passed Boris in TPA) but Boris is the better option at the moment TPA wise. Next WJC will be Sjostroms time to shine if he stays under the cap eligibility
  19. Happy Holidays everyone and great idea from VHL!
  20. It was a roller coaster for Team Europe during the round robin games in this years WJC tournament. Europe started off hot going 4-1 in the first 5 games. GM Greg decided to go with the following lines for the first 3 games Line 1: Nyman - Kidd - Hooper Line 2: Ohradka - Stava - Steve Line 3: Tallinder - Lahtinen - Lesieur Line 4: Nyman - Stava - Lesieur D1: Summers - Petrovic D2: Jokinen - Lagesson D3: Summers - Jokinen D4: Petrovic - Lagesson G1: Boris Boris G2: Isak Sjostrom (Starting vs Asia) The first game saw Europe beat Team USA 3-2 in a thrilling game that went into overtime. Mac Hooper ended up potting the winner and Guy Lesieur led the team with 2 points. It was the first game for these players playing together, so it will take time for them to gel and fire on all cylinders In the second game Europe played USA once again but this time came out on top 4-2 in a much more dominating performance. Boris Boris played exceptionally well stopping 41 of 43 shots. Guy Lesiuer led the team with 2 goals and Fernando Jokinen helped with 3 assists. This was a much better performance from Team Europe and leaders were starting to form. In the third game it was a disappointing loss to Asia as Europe lost its first game 4-3. Asia, unknown during this game, went on to have a miracle round robin going undefeated. Europe played well but they were just not up to par defensively. Isak Sjostrom received his first start and played exceptionally well for his WJC debut. For the next 3 games, GM Greg decided to mix up the lines as some players were performing very well and deserved more ice time like Stava and Lesieur while others were not playing up to their potential like Belantine Kidd. GM Greg announced the new lines to the team. Line 1: Nyman - Stava - Lesieur Line 2: Tallinder - Kidd - Steve Line 3: Ohradka - Lahtinen – Hooper Line 4: Tallinder - Kidd - Lesieur D1: Summers – Petrovic D2: Jokinen - Lagesson D3: Summers – Jokinen D4: Petrovic - Lagesson G1: Boris Boris G2: Isak Sjostrom The first 2 games with the line changes went very well as Europe beat Team World 4-3 and 2-0 in back to back games. Lesieur shined on the first line and put up 3 points and Roadkill Steve also shined with his new linemates putting up 2 points over the stretch. Boris Boris was playing lights out and earned his first shutout of the season. In the 3rd game with the updated lines Europe hit a snag and lost 3-2 to Canada in a very lacklustre performance. Europe was expecting to win this game and GM Greg was unhappy with the way his team played. He once again decided to change up the lines but this would lead to more disappointment in the next 2 games. Line 1: Ohradka - Stava – Lesieur Line 2: Nyman - Lahtinen - Steve Line 3: Tallinder - Kidd - Hooper Line 4: Nyman - Kidd - Steve D1: Summers - Jokinen D2: Petrovic - Lagesson D3: Summers - Petrovic D4: Jokinen – Lagesson G1: Boris Boris G2: Isak Sjostrom GM Greg decided to give some extra ice time to those players that were performing well and less ice time for his more skilled players that were not performing well. This may have been a mistake as Europe for the first time in the tournament were blown out 5-2 by Asia and followed by a 5-3 loss to Canada. After these games GM Greg held an emergency team meeting to figure out what was going on. The GM and players all discussed the issues and a new line up will be rolled out for the first elimination game. Greg is keeping the lineup a secret but rumour is it will be a mix of the 1st lineup and the 2nd lineup that was rolled out. At the end of the Round Robin here is how the team scoring ended Fernando Jokinen and Guy Lesieur both led the team with 11 points. Jokinen was the teams star playmaker ending the round robin with 11 assists while Lesieur was an all around dominant player ending with 6 goals and 5 assists. If Europe wants to advance past Canada in the elimination round these 2 players will need to keep on producing at a hot pace. Players like Kidd, Lagesson and Tallinder will need to play better and offer more secondary support if Europe is to advance. The full team scoring is below: Player Goals Assists Points Jokinen 0 11 11 Lesieur 6 5 11 Steve 3 3 6 Summers 1 5 6 Nyman 2 3 5 Hooper 4 1 5 Ohradka 2 3 5 Stava 1 3 4 Lahtinen 2 2 4 Petrovic 0 2 2 Kidd 1 1 2 Lagesson 1 1 2 Tallinder 0 1 1 Player Save % GAA Boris 0.908 2.84 Sjostrom 0.895 4.07 Europe was expected to finish 1st or 2nd out of the round robin but with the losses of the last 2 games they found themselves in 3rd place with only 10 points. Their final record was 4-4. Europe will face Canada in the first elimination game, a team they have not yet beaten in this tournament. “ It will be a tough elimination game for sure, Canada is a great team and they have had our number all throughout the round robin” GM Greg said “ but I believe with the new lines we will be rolling out that we can overcome them. Sometimes it takes a couple games to figure out what lines work and who clicks with who. All I can say is expect a better showing from our players” It will be interesting to see what Greg has done and if anything will kick-start some of the European stars who have been invisible during this tournament. It will also be disappointing for the defending WJC champs to get eliminated in the first round of the elimination stage. Stayed tuned to the WJC to see how well Europe does. 1033 words, claiming Dec 9-15 and Dec 16-22
  21. Great idea! Says "Topic will be automatically locked December 14, 2019 at 07:00 AM" for me and I am on EST @Beketov
  22. 1. How do you feel we are doing right now? We are doing well, we are in first but their is always room for improvement. 2. Looks like we bounced back in the standings how do you feel after that accomplishment? Feels great, hopefully we can hold onto 1st heading into the playoffs. 3. Do you feel we are ready for a deep playoff run? I believe so, everyone has worked hard all season and we are ready for a run back into the finals 4. New blood just joined the vhlm who are you most excited to see progress through their career. Looking forward to working with Spyro, he has been playing well in the VHLM and the WJC. 6. out of your line mates who is the funnest to be around outside of the ice. I would have to say Downey. We always have a good time outside of hockey. 7. Out of all the players in the vhl who is your biggest rival and why? I don't have one but any other teams starting goalie. I always want to do better then them
  23. Great OT win!
  24. Looks like new lines worked well, well done Europe!
