Warsaws very first game after the start of the season ended with a loss, but was it really a loss? Brendan Marner played his first VHL game on that day, and he got his first goal in that game. However, what was a little more impressive was Robert Wilks collecting 2 goals and 1 assist in that game. This was one of the more surprising games, as both rookies took to the ice and wanted their first goal right away, and Robert, well he wanted to grab that hattrick, but was one goal off. All 3 goals for Warsaw in that game was scored by the rookies but the game finished with a loss to Warsaw against Reign, 3 to 5 was the final score. Brendan Marner has continued his tear with 6 points in 7 games, and Robert wilk has 9 points in 7 games. Wilk is going off, and with 4 goals he is nearly the top of the scoring on Warsaw, but Marner has only the one goal from the first game, but 5 assists making him one of the top helpers on Warsaw currently.

28: With a great game played last night, Rome took the L against the Red Wolves. The shots were 57 to 58 for Wolves and the Wolve won in the shootout. Although the Wolves were the victors, the top 3 stars were all from Rome, so I thought I would congratulate Connor Wilson for his 2-goal contribution, and Jason Coiner with his 2 helpers. In the end, I would say the Wolves should look to relax on the penalties, the 14 penalty minutes didn’t help them, but they killed off all the penalties and scored on 2 of 3 power plays they had. 29: Stockholm and Vasteras took the game to give us an amazing adventure. The Eagles lost to the Vikings in a 2-0 game. Although the Eagles lost in a shutout, they played well, with 33 shots, its not crazy, but nothing to look down on. Regardless, good job to Jason Lajeunesse who got a goal and an assist in that game, as well Ben Dahl in with the shutout. With much less penalties in this game than the last, it was a well-disciplined match.

1. So far this season we are 2-2-2. What are we doing well? What can we improve upon? we really lack on depth right now, but idk what you'd give to receive that 2. What player have you found the most success playing with, in any of the three leagues? lol i could not tell ya, I have not been following the lines close enough 3. What statistical goals do you have for the season? Goals? Points? Wins? points and wins, if i can snag the rookie title and the cup, that would be amazing. 4. How did you find the VHL? lol i dont even know man it was like 3 years ago, but i think through google xD 5. NHL All-Star Game is tomorrow, what do you think of this year's selections? I could care less about the all star games, they forgot the meaning of all-star. also seems like many players dont even want to go. 6. Bengals or Rams in the Super Bowl? Are the Leafs an option?

The Career of Brendan Marner (So Far)
MetalToday replied to MetalToday's topic in Archived Media Spots

Intro The career of Brendan Marner is one with many downs, but a few ups, but one thing is for sure, he is here to stay. It does not matter what league he is in in the upcoming years; he is going to be the next star. Brendan Marner is quite an interesting figure as we’ve seen the past few seasons, with much controversy, and much to hate, there is much love for this player. He has an obvious fanbase himself, creating an interesting blend of disapproval, and acceptance around the league, but what are we expecting from him this season? Career Brendan Marner has been seen as a bust the last few seasons, collecting minimal points, before last season saw him collect only 9 points and a single goal in the 62 games played in the minors, and the next season saw him add 2 goals and 11 points for the 72 games he played for his first season in the VHLE, it wasn’t much and nothing was expected, especially considering he only took 1 goal in the 9 VHLM and VHLE playoff games he participated in, unfortunately, he only won 1 game in the playoffs up to that time as well. In the past season, we saw a different side of Marner, looking to be different, looking to change his game, his heart, and his confidence. Marner always seemed to be a talented player that just never really performed too well, trying to be the next franchise player, but obviously, that wasn’t the case. But then the trade was announced, the Watchmen give up and underperformed Marner to Rome, and was this trade ever great for Marner. He persuades the goals he set for himself and went from being a bottom line, untrustworthy player, to being one of the top players on a decent Rome team. With the season end, we saw Marner multiply his goals many times, and take a better and higher step in the point category. Going to 22 goals, and 72 points in the 72 games he played. He mentioned that he thought he wasn’t getting enough minutes, which he believed hurt his point totals, but he said he was not going to complain as he went from 0.15 points per game to 1 point per game average. He even improved his playoff points to a staggering 4 goals and 12 points in just 11 games. That is over a point a game, many people were rejoiced to see the new step this player took. He had also won the first round he ever won in his career, bringing him to the finals, but losing to the better Stockholm team. Draft When Marner was drafted, it saw some teams laughing at Warsaw, thinking they drafted this kid way too high at 21, while other players seemed to have more skills at the time, or more active, but that did not deter Marner, nor Warsaw, both knew they had created the exact definition of a diamond in the rough. 2 seasons later it was obvious that Marner had been behind on progress, but his activity was impeccable, he wants to be the next Franchise player in the league. As some of his mate in his draft class has stopped performing as well, we saw him start to kick up and nearly reach the top 10 in many of the draft reviews we see this season, and he is only continuing his bestial progress. He wants to prove everyone wrong who passed on him and didn’t believe in him. While Warsaw has seen some regression of high-end talent, there have been questions about whether this kid was going to be on a top line, or be on a team that can even produce, and I think what he said, says it all. “With the young core here, you may not see us go too far when it comes to the playoffs, but with a young core brings a new energy, we can rack up the points during the season no problem.” As he points out, the younger generation brings a different energy to the ice and there is a chance that he, along with other prospects can carry this team to the playoffs. He states, “I’m focused on improving my game right now, I want to prove my worth on the ice this season.” The dedication has been crazy for a kid of this caliber, it is a surprise how many teams could pass on someone looking to improve as he has been, but we are now 2 seasons out, so who could have guessed. Rookie Year With the rookie trophy on the table, it is possible that Marner could snag it, but with the rookie players on other better teams, and just very talented rookies in general, it would be a shock to many if Marner gets it. Since this kid is still very underrated and unrecognized around the league, it is not a surprise this kid is unfounded still, but the people who know much about him are his teammate, watching and cheering for him, with many of his teammates believing he will collect that rookie trophy. Marner said, “I have not won any medals in my life, I really would love to win that trophy, or if we win it all, what more could you honestly ask for? I would love to win both, but if I can only have one, it would be winning the championship. I could be happy with my whole team rather them be happy for me.” With a selfless take, it was no surprise that Warsaw fans, players, and management took an even bigger liking to this kid and whether the trophy is in his hands, or some other, they are going to stick with him till the end. Rookie Slump Although Marner is graduating to the big league and there are high expectations from many of his close friends, we regarded his slump of a year in the first year in the VHLM and his first year in the VHLE, there is a good chance he might not improve from last year, but slump again. With more practices that we have seen him do, and the gain in confidence last season, he is a player that may come out of nowhere and surprise some people. If we look at Warsaws players, we can see the lack of depth they currently have, it is believed that Marner might be on a top pair with Zach Kisslinger II and Bogdan Trunov, which can be seen as a good line, but there is an obvious hole if you need to bring the rookie on the top line, however, Marner is not upset by this fact as he said, “Being on the top line is a privilege, and if I am good enough to keep up with those top players, there is a good chance that I can be the franchise player every team needs, but they can't have me for cheap, Dakota Lamb and I both know this. And if we start kicking shit, well then, I will be kicking shit too, like back in my time in Bratislava.” Back when Marner was on the VHLE team Bratislava Watchmen, Marner was seen on the streets, in bars, and strip clubs taking shots, beer, drugs, you name it, he was on it after an intervention is when a lot of the activities stopped, however, some speculated it was due to a new and better performance from the then veteran of the league. If he goes back to his ways when he was in Bratislava then we could be hearing a lot more from people around Warsaw, the hate, and despair, but we need to hope we don’t get that far EVER AGAIN. Family His family will be supporting him through his time, taking a big trip from Ontario to Warsaw, just to see him start in his first professional game. Although they all had trouble finding the time, it would not be a family without their support. This was hard for Marner, to see then struggle to find a way to Warsaw, he felt it was on him, but they said they would be there no matter where he is playing. He said it was hard trying to live in Europe while he was in the VHLE, saying that he wanted to go home, but that eventually changed as he became accustomed to the European ways. He still has trouble living so far from family he mentions and would love to be back with them, but duty calls upon him to be the next all-star. Contract Some fans had already been asking what contract talks even looked like since he is meant to be a free agent at the end of the year, Marner replied, “No talks, it is not expected till the end of the season, so you should try asking then, and don’t forget that I have not played a single game in the VHL so what do they have on me to judge?” Another reporter asked if he would be looking to stay in Warsaw or move out, potentially closer to home, Marner said, “Well that’s the dream, isn’t it? To be able to play at home with my family and friends, but honestly, it depends on this year, if everything goes nicely and the general manager is down to sign me again, I am sure we would both be happy to sign the contract. If things go south, I would be willing to give it another shot with the team, but it would be up to the general manager, if I struggle this season, I know there would be other players the team would prefer signing first.” It seems promising that Marner would likely stick with Warsaw for at least a couple more seasons, and if all goes well Warsaw might be just as happy. Trades Many, now, seem worried if the team underperforms trades might happen, and trades that can include the likes of Chicken wing, Trunov, even the young ones like Marner, and Kisslinger, but we believe these worries come from a false narrative that Warsaw would completely scrape their team to tank for a first overall pick. This would not be a good strategy as Warsaw has a crazy good young core that is starting to make a way in the VHL, with many more to come. If they wanted to tank there would be no place to trade any of the young pieces like Kisslinger and Marner, but Chicken Wing is a veteran in the league probably looking for his first cup, and Trunov, who is in his prime, might be a good piece for the rebuild. So, looking at this, there is an unlikely chance that the young players get shipped is unlikely, and for the veterans, it would depend on the record of the team at the end of the year obviously, but they are the most likely to be released first, unfortunately. Summary We talked about Brendan Marner's improved performance after being in the VHLE for 2 years, and his draft year. People were down about him both years, but looking at it now, after last season, he has shown his worth, and many agree more is to come. It would be an unexpected victory if Marner could clinch that best rookie title, as we all know he is going to play towards, but even if he doesn’t, we hope he can stay away from the substances and controversies. As for Marner's future, he wants to stay, there is no need to worry if you are looking at him and thinking about not having him in the future. All in all, this player is good, and he wants the cup, we can see he has been working hard to improve and devote himself to the future of this new place he calls him. Good luck to him and good luck to the future of this team. We will keep watch as he become the next star in the league. Claim weeks: 01/30 02/06 02/13 02/20

Analysis of VHLM Team Names Part 2: Las Vegas and Mexico City
MetalToday replied to Will3's topic in Archived Media Spots
Very well written, I always enjoy reading the articles, fun and exciting, always. I find the double meaning of Las Vegas fascinating, love it! I could not find and grammatical, or spelling errors, which shows care in the article, however, I would suggest subtitling the different paragraphs for an article like this, it makes it a bit easier to read. All in all, it’s a good read, good job, I’m excited to see what else you come up with! 9/10 -
This was a really good article, well written, and well thought out. I did not spot any mistakes, so you clearly edited it well, and knew what you would say. You have a clear skill in writing and I’m excited to see where else you bring this. I like how you changed the color of the quotes, made it easy to find what Sakamoto what saying about the situation. Hopefully I see him play well in the coming years! 10/10

With the start of the season coming up, there is a lot to be excited about, and many people are very excited. With all the rookies this season it is going to be interesting to see how all the kids will play, and who collects the Christian Stolzschweiger Trophy (rookie trophy). While so many people are looking to Vasile Lamb to collect the trophy, many have been arguing Zaza Colors is going to be a huge force this season, and a few also believe Florida Man has a chance. All these choices are amazing, more than likely one of the 3 mentioned will be the collector, but who? Vasile Lamb is a good pick but being on a weaker New York team there is a good chance he has trouble getting points; however, he may be on the top line collecting extra points. Zaza Colors is also on a slightly weaker team, but with the extra TPA under his name, there is a chance he can snag a top-line position and be a top producer on the United. Florida Man intrigues me a little more, with high TPA, and a strong Stars team, he might get high production boosted, however, a problem entails with all the top forwards on the team, he will likely be a second line player, and will that bring down production? Let me know what you think, and who you think the trophy winner will be.

1. The draft was this past Sunday. We were able to pick up Wumbo, a goalie, two defenders in Maxwell Mathias and Brian Payne, and a left wing in Girts Galvins. How do you feel about the team's future? I mean the future is bright, with me in the mix? pfft. 2. What can we do as a team this season? Win the cup! 3. What need(s) remain to be addressed this offseason? Having a deeper defense core would probably help. 4. What Warsaw player is in for a great season, in your opinion? I'd say me and Kisslinger, we are draft buddies and back to back with TPE, I'm thinking its gonna be me and him on a line, feeding the puck to each other. 5. Favorite logo of the three leagues? Easy VHL, no need for more. 6. Did you watch the NFL Divisional Round this past weekend? What did you think of the games, and who are you rooting for to win the Super Bowl? If not, what do you enjoy watching/doing this time of year? NHL fan, don't care about football personally

Good article, I would be excited for these two aswell, definitely future superstars! After reading the text I found a couple things that don’t read too well such as “Reylynn got traded to Calgary, in calgary reylynn is one of the seven forwards” instead of saying Calgary twice, you could have just said “in which” for example. There were a few words that were capitalized that shouldn’t have been, and others that should have been capitalized. All in all, it was still a good job, and I can’t wait to see how these players do in the upcoming years! 8/10

I really find this an interesting article talking about your goals and your family, I can tell why your player would be so passionate about hockey, it runs in the family. I like the lay-out and its easy to read but titling changing paragraphs could help viewing pleasure. That’s being nitpicky though, its not as needed for an article like this, there just wasn’t much to critic, I think its written well and no real errors that I can find. Good job! 10/10

With the end of the World Junior Championship comes another tournament to remember. With the playoffs completing, the USA have become the S81 champions for this tournament. Although Europe made the finals, they just were unable to beat the strong USA team. Team World and Team Canada where in the semi-finals close to overtake and grab a finalist award, but they just weren’t good to the powerhouse that are the USA and Europe. As for Asia, they had some trouble playing against Team World, causing them to lose in the play-in round. Congratulations to the winning team USA, and to their players, and good try for the rest of the teams, this year the World Juniors were close and fun, as usually it doesn’t fail to disappoint. With so many new young players coming up in the next years, I am really excited to see where everyone goes, and what team is the powerhouse winners.
-
1. Is it your first time playing in the WJC? No, won gold with team Canada BABY! 2. For the country that you did give your player, why? Because I am Canadian 3. What is your favorite part of the VHL off-season? kinda relaxing, not worrying about my skills 4. Why did you join the VHL, who or what made you join? I cant remember if it was recommended to me, or I searched up online be a pro mode lol 5. How did you choose your players position/build? I mean its meant to be a playmaker, because thats what I was when I played, but I dont think its working out right now, passing skill seems to suck 6. Do pineapples belong on pizza? Sure, I like it with or without!
-
Very well written article, I liked the interview, I think its too bad you were on a bad team, but from what it sounds like, you might get to another level when you move on. I would love to hear where you'd expect to go, and what you are looking to getting to. I think the separated paragraphs are nice, but it could be better viewing if there were titles too. 9/10

A quick look at how Toronto's S81 prospects are doing!
MetalToday replied to Peace's topic in Archived Media Spots
Very interesting read, although I enjoy these kinds of articles. Obviously I am excited to see what these kids can do, but the information you laid out is well done and well written. I also like how you separated everything, it helps reading it a lot. 10/10 -
After a hard-fought battle, the Stockholm Vikings take home the cup, and become the second team in VHLE history to win the championship. After winning against the Cologne Express in 5 games and then sweeping the Rome Gladiators in the finals, they flew through the playoffs so they can take home the trophy. Although they made history being the first team to sweep the finals, and the second team to win it, they are not the only ones making history. The Rome Gladiators also made history. Rome was the first team to ever make it in the finals in consecutive seasons, although that’s a big accomplishment, they lost both of their appearances to also be the first team to lose in the finals, and now, lose two consecutive seasons. This was a crazy finish to the year, and with all the shocks and all of the records being made, it is a very interesting time in this baby league. With only being two seasons in, I am excited to see what happens going forward.

Rome Gladiators Press conferences
MetalToday replied to UnknownMinion's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. What do you think about the team's playoff run? Upsetting how it ended, that's all I gotta say. 2. What do you think about your player's playoff run? I was happy to have been getting many points, but it ended with only 1 point in the next series. 3. What are your objectives for the off-season? Just collect many more TPE. 4. What advice can you give to the player that will arrive with Rome next season? Be a consistent TPE gatherer. 5. Name one thing that you would like the management to improve on the team during the off-season? I think we grabbed a goalie right before the playoff run, if it happened a little earlier, might have been a bit better for us. 6. If it was your last season with Rome, did you like your passage with the team? and if you are staying with us, are you looking forward to the next season? I loved this season, and I am excited for y'all to win the cup next year, I'm cheering for you to do it after 2 years of just missing it. -

Intro With the VHLE season finished, we can look for the end of year stats and standings. With Brendan Marner having a breakout year, it is clear that he has a lot more to give. As his team, Rome Gladiators just made it to the playoffs, finishing 4th in the league, only one point from missing the postseason, it was a close year. Marner finished the season with 22 goals and 50 assists in 72 games, that is a point a game finish for Marner. Although it was not as crazy as some of the other players, it was one hell of a finish for a player who has never gotten more than 11 points in a season. With such an improvement of a year the next question is, will he be able to continue that to the VHL when Warsaw more than likely lifts him up to the big league. I think with the confidence he has received from this years performance it makes sense for the player to continue, although he will be a rookie, so it is unlikely that he will become a point a game in the VHL, but weirder things have happened with less talented players. Performance Marner is very thrilled about his performance, he even rewarded himself after the last game of the season by taking the highest quality coke he could buy. He also mentioned to us, “With a season like that, the points will be amazing for me with years to come, and this upcoming playoff? Yeah, don’t doubt I will double my points per game.” Marner celebrated with a couple of teammates at the bar as well, buying beer and shots for everyone. Close Year Rome was quite average this season, only just squeaking into the playoffs with 92 points. The Watchmen, Marners former team, were just behind them, missing the playoffs by one point, totaling to 91 points. The top 5 teams were quite a powerhouse within 8 points of each other, and the bottom 3 teams, well they were 37-54 points out of a playoff spot. The top teams were obviously quite equal, but the bottom teams were clearly not trying to the playoffs, rather they were looking for a 1st overall pick. A Season After the Trade Brendan Marner had something to say about the success in Rome over Bratislava, “I already said that the Gladiators stole me, I will be that charm to get you the extra point to make it to the playoffs and I guess the Watchmen didn’t see that. Well, its their loss… literally!”, Marner said, “This was a trade that honestly helped me, I am happy to be in Rome they have helped me improve, and obviously I have become a better producer, and its only going to get better from here.” It is important to note that Nils Godlander, the player the Watchmen received in the Marner trade, had 49 goals and 42 assists for a total of 91 points in 72 games, Marner only have 72 points in the 72 games. Round One The first round of the playoffs has completed, and the Gladiators have moved on to the championship. With their first series going to game 7, it is no surprise that it was quite a hectic series that kept everyone on their toes. The series went so far as needing to go to overtime for the last game of the series, those are always a nail biter. Oh wait… did I say that it went to overtime? I meant it went to double overtime. Game 7 Although I have not talked about any of the games that have been played, this game 7 was one of the more interesting games to have been played. With the score ending in 6-5 in double overtime, there are some interesting facts to take from it. The total shots were 85-44 in favour of Rome but that meant nothing for this high scoring game. The scoring started with the Wolves getting a quick one on the board in 29 seconds of the start of the period, Ryan Li being the scorer. Only about a minute and a half later, Drakon Zabastovka scores to make it 2-0 Wolves, and halfway through the first, Hulk Hogan gets one to make it 3-0 Wolve. Things were not looking good for Rome early in the game, but that didn’t deter Rome as they snapped back with 2 goals at the end of the first period both by Flynn Remy making it 3-2 Wolves. In the second period the Gladiators didn’t like being down, so they got one more goal early, scored by Noah Mashford to make it 3-3. The Wolves, however, said no, they liked the lead, so they got a quick one back scored by kman, to make it 4-3 Wolves. Halfway through the second Biggie Cheese brought a tying goal to the scoresheet to make it 4-4, but a few minutes later, Hulk Hogan came with his second of the game to make it 5-4 Wolves. In the 2nd intermission the Gladiator coach asked the team if they wanted to play more games this season, and if they realize that the cup may not be in their hands after all the hard work. That speech worked as Gabby Dugan got inspired and score to tie the game 5-5 early in the third. This was the only goal scored in the 3rd period, so things went to overtime, but overtime solved nothing, so it went to double overtime. The second overtime saw Robert Wilks pass the puck to Brendan Marner to pass it to Flynn Remy as a beautiful 1, 2 connections, for Flynn Remy to score and finish the hattrick he started in the third period and move his team onto the next round. The game was crazy, and unexpected, but was one hell of a game to watch. With a total of 62 penalty minutes and 2 fights, it was quite a physical game as well. Oh yeah, and the 2 fights happened together, it was a double fight you don’t see all too often. Post Game Interview After the series win Brendan Marner was ecstatic, “We are going to the finals, I told you! I told all of you!” Marner has never passed the first round in any of the VHL leagues, “We are going to win I feel it, we are playing our hearts out! I love this team!” He states. The team was all ecstatic, but they calmed very quickly as the veterans on the team told us that they partied after winning round one last year, and it bit them in their asses the next round. So, the team is mentally preparing themselves for the next series, and hope to one up their opponent this year. Preparing With the team they are playing next is rested and ready to go, it will be a hard match for Rome, but if they continue the streak they are on, it is more than likely that they can win it all. With such high scoring games from this past series, it will be interesting if the Viking goalie can keep the Rome goal scorers out of the net, like they did to the Express. With a final of the Vikings and the Gladiators, they are both of the bottom pairing teams to have made it to the playoffs, so it will be interesting to see the outcome, as this would have been an unexpected final by many. Marners Playoffs Brendan Marner had a great first round, as he stated he would try to get a 2 points per game average, it has not quite worked out that way, but it is not very far off. With Marners 7 games played, he has 4 goals and 7 assists for a total of 11 points. That is about 1.57 points per game if you do the calculation. That is not far off, but he still has a bit of a way to go. Will he make it? Its hard to say, but with a minimum of 4 more games to play, it is not an unrealistic expectation at all, especially how many goals Rome has been scoring recently. Conclusion In the end, Brendan Marner is having one hell of a year and to one up that, an even better post season. He is clearly showing how much he wants this cup, he wants to redeem himself from last years flop, and he is happy to say he did not get swept the first round again. He wants to be the sweeper for once, so he is talking with teammates and management, focusing, and practicing to up his game play. Although Marner is still seen going into controversies here and there, it seems like Rome is ok with that, as long as he is producing and helping the team make it to bring home the cup fans will turn the other way. The Watchmen are likely kicking themselves after witnessing the past years success for Marner, as he was not used correctly in the post season with them, but now we watch as Rome fights for that cup again as they missed out in game 7 in last years finals. With that experience, there is a lot of hope and speculation in Rome that this team will do it this time.

Very good, lots of stats included to show what happened in the games. I like how you made the titles, its easier to read and looks nice. I dont find it too hard to read and gets the information across, good job. 8/10

Rome Gladiators Press conferences
MetalToday replied to UnknownMinion's topic in Team Press Conferences
1. Are you happy with how your player played during the season? I kind of wish to have more points, but its a career high, so you can be too upset. 2. Are you happy with how the team played durimg the season? I thought we would end slightly higher, but we made it to the playoffs so who cares! 3. What do you think about our first opponents, the Istanbul Red Wolves? Losers we will win ... oh yeah we did. 4 Who do you think will win the Cup in the VHLE? Why? Rome because of the beast named Brendan Marner. 5. Who are you planning to play with next year? Good chance Warsaw will want me up in the bigs. 6. Are you happy with the management this season? Yes awesome management group, active, and likes to communicate.
