The whole league is scared of me. I'm leading the league in hits, I'm aiming to hurt people and they just take it. It's not even fun.

    Goon on his VHLM experience

Saskatoon fans might barely know the name of Billy von Goon, a “defenseman” for the Wild but more like the team’s hitman. A player who nobody expects to record a single point all season but be in the top end of penalty minutes. When someone get in a dirty shot against another Wild player or is just too damn good for them not to get hit hard, that’s when the coaching staff calls on von Goon to be the enforcer. We thought we would ask him about his experience a few games into his VHLM career and his thoughts on his play.

VHLwhat reacted to Polygeekism in Claimed: New Season, New Wild [1/2]
The draft is over, and the season is fast approaching for the teams in the VHL and VHLM. New faces in new places, and players finally making it on their first professional rosters. The Saskatoon Wild failed to win the play in Wild Card series in season 58 and were in desperate need of a rebuild. The whole roster was turned over, aside from Dimiro Jr, and there is a lot of optimism in the Wild locker room.

The starting line is going to be a challenge to go up against. The forwards are led by Axelsson at center with another highly skilled player is Dragomir on the LW. They are joined by Triscuit rounding out an attacking front that is surely to give goalies and defenses fits. There is a lot of talent in puck movement and shooting here and it should allow the Wild to build leads and allow the defense to play aggressively. Dimiro Jr and Bjornberg are the main movers on the second line, and Bjornberg in particular is motivated to put in a good season. His agent has already heard rumors about a lack of work ethic, and he has encouraged the young winger to hustle every time he is on the ice, success at not only the VHLM level, but the VHL, depend on the effort put in now.

The starting defenders are looking to do just that. McDragon is near-VHL ready, and will patrol behind the blue line with authority and allow Mac Finscèal to punish defenders. Hopefully they can build their chemistry quickly so they can give the talented forwards more opportunities to score. The best offense is a great defense, or something like that and the wild focused on picking up talented young defenders for this season. The second line is ready to prove their place in the VHL as well. Rockatansky is coming from the land down undah, becoming somewhat of a local hero in the small hockey community in Australia. He has a scoring knack that many defenders lack, and will help keep the pressure up during the second line shifts. Goon is well, a goon. He will be looking for perfect sets of teeth to rattle, and his local sponsor of Up North Dental will be pleased with the new business. He may lack finesse, but opponents should note where he is when they find themselves near the net.

Goalie is where the Wild are going to be really green. Fox has proven to be a hard player to motivate. It is yet to be seen if he will translate into having a long career, or fluttering just off the starting line. Hinga Dinga Durgen Jr. III is coming from the Dutch junior leagues and seems poised to develop into a strong goalie. He has some weaknesses, mainly great handling shooters, but lots of potential and the length to really succeed in net. Also, he is my vote for best name, if not on the Wild, but in all of the VHLM.

There is always a lot of competition in VHLM as players are vying for an opportunity to move to the next level, but the Wild have put together a solid roster that looks to be competitive and they hope to make a statement during the playoffs this year and not get sent home before the real tournament begins. Do not forget to check out their pro shop and pick up the latest jersey's and apparel!

So guys i did want to talk about something as we have a lot of new members.

The VHL has a retention problem with people, some of it has to do with annoying ways to earn TPE. But alot can be attributed to, poor sim results. Everyone expects to be a star player right away.

Do not get discouraged, if your guy does not light it up right away. I will do my best to help everyone succeed, but aslong as you stay active and updating i promise the results will come.

A good example of this would be my current player Sergei Komarov i basically hit cap before end of the season, but my guy had 15 points all year. I came back down the next season with all my skills properly updated and ended the year with 130points, and a cup ring.

Just keep working hard and do not be afraid to ask me @Velevra @Beaviss @nikkurri17 questions as we are the vets.

I honestly don't remember anything before, during or after the fight. My doctor said that's what happens after the amount of concussions I've had.
I don't feel like I disappointing my team, just myself as a fighter. I don't have a real hockey skill set so if I can't fight well, what the hell am I doing on the ice?

Like I said, fighting is all I have so I will continue to fight people for no reason. The best part of being in the VHLM is that I can practice my fighting skills in smaller arenas until I'm actually able to win. I might be in the VHLM for some time.

    Hey guys,

Alot of you do not know me, im a 36 year old Russian-Canadian. I am a caps fan, and been apart of this league a few years now. I have 2 children, and a fiance.

Last season was a total wash for me, as i had went all in the season before and it sadly did not pay off. However this year there is plenty of hope.

We should be lead by argueable the best forward in the VHLM this year Dragomir and his agent @Velevra hes a long time vet and overall good guy.

After that we have a group of all first gens. 2 very promising players is Bastion and his agent @Polygeekism, and Max lead by his agent @MadMax.

We then have 2 guys who are semi active that i hope we can convince if possible to come back full time in Goon and his agent @VHLwhat, and Bjornberg @nikkurri17.

We are not the best team, but i think we can have a good chance at atleast a deep playoff push. Im hoping an active goalie free agent joins as that is our biggest weakness at this point in time.

    Jackson not on VHL radar?

With the recent performances of Jefferson Jackson, it seems like most VHL scouts won’t give him the light of day anymore. The once highly touted player from San Jose is now struggling to find any consistent from with the Minot Gladiators of the VHLM. With Minot down 3-2 in the playoffs, Jackson released a statement earlier today voicing his frustration with his performances and how he has not lived up to his own expectations of his play. He isn’t the only one taking notice of his struggles with VHL and VHLM scouts paying him little to no attention when they watch the Minot games.

A VHL scout was on record as saying:

Even a VHLM scout said this about Jefferson Jackson:

So what does this mean for Jefferson Jackson as we look into next season and beyond? I would say that it means Jackson will struggle to find considerable ice time unless he can find an organization that would spend the time necessary to fix his fundamentals. If an organization is willing to take a chance and spend the time needed to make Jackson’s game more sound, Jackson may be able to realize the potential everyone saw in him just a short time ago.

If Jackson can fix the major flaw in his game, VHL scouts and GMs may be more willing to come and spend time with Jackson in hopes that he may have a brighter future than being currently projected. However, with so much young, fundamentally sound talent in the VHLM already, one has to think that they would take priority over a project player in Jackson.

This next season will be the one where Jackson really has to shine as he looks to impress scouts. Since he will automatically be placed into the S44 VHL draft, it will be up to him to determine what the scouts believe he can do on the ice. Jackson will have to show if his work ethic and determination to be great is there or if he will be the next “prodigy” to not live up to the early hype.
