Hi everyone! If you've been living under a VHFL rock, you may have missed that VHFL rules were revamped during the past month. That includes a pretty significant change to scoring across the board. This means that moving forward, the old "meta" of picking VHFL players and assessing their worth will be largely ineffective. I understand that this could lead to a lot of confusion, so I wanted to provide a resource to everyone to help with drafting for this next season! Below is the listing of all the skaters who played a game in S80, which is similar to the typical "S80 Top Skaters" post I put up when the S80 season ended. However, I have created this listing using the scoring that will be going into place next season. Therefore, you'll have a better idea of what kind of players will put up the most points, and that should hopefully guide you in your picks for S81! Here is the new scoring for skaters: Forward Defense Goals 2 Goals 3 Assist 1.3 Assist 1.5 SB 0.6 SB 0.3 Hit 0.3 Hit 0.3 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.2 As always, I have tried to mark retired players as such. If you notice that I have missed a player, please let me know. I'm mostly going off memory since I don't want to search 300+ players on the portal. LOL this made my day
-
That makes it a bit too vague, considering draft dates vary every offseason. If we're standardizing the length, I'd just rather have the cutoff to call up players be at the end of the off-season, which seems logical enough.
-
So a prospect who hits 350 next Monday would not be eligible to get called up despite it just being the first day of the second offseason week?
-
I've got a question about call-ups that has probably been answered before informally, but I can't find the official answer in the rulebook. I'm operating under the impression that the VHL Rulebook is completely up to date, and that it is the guide to refer to for any operational queries. However, I'm still not sure how the implementation of the VHLE impacts timing of call-ups to the VHL. I said I was operating with the impression the rulebook was up to date, but since call-ups still refer to VHLM->VHL, I suppose it isn't. The VHLM/VHLE cutoff has been set for Sunday, November 14th. In the past, the cutoff has always been treated as the date players that don't want to get called up hold their TPE at, until it passes. So, a couple questions: 1. Can a player, less than 10 TPE away from a league's cap, claim the full amount of training camp TPE? Will that process force them above their respective cap? I know it says no in this portion here, but the same wording existed in the S78->S79 portion. I had a situation where a prospect claimed the full training camp and it took them over 250, therefore forcing them up. 2. In order for a VHL team to call up a prospect, does that prospect have to be at/above 350 TPE by the M/E cutoff? If not, when is the latest day a team can choose to call-up their player?

Run it back, we've done a few for the EFL, maybe one or two for the VHL back in my first few months. Seems like we're overdue for another 1 and a half hour long monster of a podcast

Let's Play A Game + Suggestions for the pronoun tags
Spartan replied to BladeMaiden's topic in Archived Podcasts
Overall nice podcast, audio levels might have been reduced a tad bit too much, had to crank my volume up a bit to hear you. I was particularly curious about this 2nd point so I skipped ahead to find it, mainly because it is a growing topic in not just our community but in the world. With the addition of tags in the main server, there's been a lot of attention on them. Personally, I hated the tags as they were before Dlamb changed a few of them and is still redesigning them to all fit the new theme. However, these role emotes are purely a byproduct from being at a level 2 boost for the server, which I'm not sure if it's sustainable unless there are people willing to boost every month. Essentially, I don't know if role tags for pronouns is a long term solution, although even I would rather see those as role emotes than the modge podge that we have now lol. However, I was just thinking that it could just be easier for people to add "he/him" into their server nicknames. There's quite a bit of leeway for name lengths, and that would be an easy and clear long-term method (after my 2 minutes of thinking about it) to make your pronouns known. A lot of GM's used to identify themselves as a GM beyond the color coding with " | MOS GM" as an example after their names. I get that it's inconvenient to have to change your name to match your pronouns, but I'm not really sure if we can expect everyone to open up everyone else's profiles to see what their selected pronouns are, if there are even any. I was made aware of alternate pronouns earlier today of a user whose profile I didn't even think to open up. While adding pronouns to nicknames may feel restricting to the user, I can't think of a better long-term method that won't rely on continuous server boosts from benevolent members. Love that you brought the topic up though! Was literally thinking about the difficulty of recognizing folks' pronouns from that situation earlier today, perfect timing -
short but sweet tenure, congrats on the cup and a pleasure competing against a solid team

! It do be about that time to start signing up for the S81 VHFL Season! Nice and early sign up thread this season Before you immediately hit the reply button to sign up, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the new and updated VHFL rules. They will be going into effect for this next season. There are scoring changes to be aware of, as well as other smaller details that have changed. Reply below to sign up! Please also note if you would like to apply to be a group manager. Unlike previous seasons when group manager selection has been randomized, I will be selecting group managers based on historical performance in the position. While the bonus 1 uncapped TPE is coveted, I also need GM's to....actually manage their groups. As always, DM me with any questions/comments/concerns. This thread will lock automatically at Midnight (Eastern Time) on Friday, November 12th. I think.

Berocka Podcast Question/Suggestion Thread
Spartan replied to Berocka's topic in Graphics, Designs, & Writing
1. What all went into your decision to step down from your league jobs, specifically Updater and BOG? 2. If you had to pick someone in the league to make a podcast intro for you, who would you ask? 3. You've got 2 more seasons left with UnGuri, but how have the past 5/6 in the VHL gone for you? What are you hoping to get out of the last 2, and do you think you'll be staying with Davos? 4. We've chatted briefly in VHFL threads, but if you were in charge of VHFL, what would be you implement to fix the time zone issues that people have? 5. What do you think next season's standings/team power rankings will be? Who will be the biggest surprise like Vancouver was this season? 6. If you had to pick a team to play on as a free agent for 1 seasons, where would you go?
