  3. Dakota Lamb Scouting Report S73 | Centre | Shoots: Left | Born: Welland, ON, CAN | 6'1 | 185lbs. | #80 S72 VHLM Drafted 49th Overall | S73 VHL Drafted 10th Overall SKILL SET Strengths: Shooting - Lamb has a dangerous wristshot, which he is not afraid to use. He considers himself as a shoot-first type of player, looking for a rebound rather than just a straight pass. He is still working on his slapshot, but I would not consider it a negative. He has been training intensively to try and become a powerplay quarterback. He is known to shoot from anywhere, and if he sees nothing developing in the offensive zone, he will not hesitate to just shoot it at the net and go for a goal or a rebound. Finishing - Lamb prides himself in his ability to finish plays. Whether it be a rebound, writshot, breakaway, no matter what, he believes in his own ability to just simply put the puck in the net. You can count on him in shootouts, penalty shots, whenever you need him to score a goal for you - he can do it. His ability to do this has been praised by scouts all over VHL, and is one of the main reasons he went 10th overall. Work Ethic - Lamb has an incredible work ethic. During the off season, he does not skip a beat while training, having multiple personal trainers and coaches help him improve. During the season, he is always 1st to show up at the rink, eager to get the new day started. He loves the game of hockey, and his love of it constantly creates the urge to be getting better. If you need any proof, take a look at his TPE growth, he hasn't stopped growing one bit since he gained attention of VHL/M scouts. 200-Foot Play - His pride and joy. 200-foot play. Of course, everyone dreams about scoring the Continental Cup winning goal as a kid, and when playing in their driveway, but Lamb gets that feeling when scoring of course, but also when he's shutting down opponents. He loves frustrating the other team, when they can't get anything going. As a kid, he always looked up to Patrice Bergeron, and that's exactly the player that he has developed into. His 200-foot play includes a great face-off percentage, incredible hockey IQ, great and safe zone exits, just the whole package when it comes to controlling a game of hockey. Areas of Improvement: Passing - These are not cons. Lamb does not believe in that word. Anything and everything can be improved with some amount of practice and work. As for passing, Lamb is a competent passer, he has just historically been a shoot-first type of player. He does think that when he makes the jump to the VHL, he will be passing a lot more, which is why he is working on it. He is perfecting the art of one touch passes for those beautiful tic-tac-toe goals, and he really wants to get good at putting the puck in his teammates "roundhouses" so that they can fire off fast and hard one-timers. Strength - This may be the biggest knack scouts had on Lamb going into the draft. While he does stand at an average 6'1", and a little underweight at 185lbs, Lamb has yet to fully utilize his entire body in his style of play. Especially as a centreman, strength is very much needed stick-checking, winning faceoffs, and just cutting opponents out of the play. He started improving this at the end of last VHLM season, and expects to continue developing this when he makes the jump to the bigs. NHL Comparable: Patrice Bergeron VHL Comparable: Julian Borwinn Prospect Grade: B+
  4. 1) The VHLM standings are divvied clearly into two tiers. We lead the CONTENDERS tier with 42P, but the 7th place team has 35P and there are six teams nipping on our heels. Now that we're about a third of the way through the season, what can we do to separate from the pack? Just keep doing what we're doing. Teams will fall off down the stretch. 2) Our 2 OTLs lead the league, and we haven't won a game that extended past 60 mins. Why have we struggled to close games out in sudden death? I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes you get the puck luck and sometimes you don't. Playoff OT is all I care about. 3) Last season, the Marauders dragged the top-seeded Minnesota Storm to Game 7 of round one. Now that we've seen some of what the Beast of the East can do, what are your expectations or hopes for S73 playoffs? Anything but a championship would be considered a failure. 4) At some point, the trade deadline will sneak up on us. What should management do at the Trade Deadline to improve our team? Honestly, we don't need much, nor should sell. Maybe a depth trade or something, but I see the roster looking pretty much the same past the deadline. 5) Which bubble hockey do you prefer: bubble hockey or hockey in a bubble? HOCKEY IN A BUBBLE BABY, 6 GAMES ON ALL DAY, WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED? 6) I've been out of the VHL loop a bit this summer - what's your early contender for Graphic of the Year or Media Spot of the Year? Any graphic that involves me gets my vote. As for media spot, just pick your favourite "Patrik's Picks" by Laine. Any of them could be up there.
  5. Very very interested. Would love to get my foot in the door of management.
  6. 1. Miami began the season 9-0-1, a phenomenal start. How do you feel the team has lived up to the expectations set by many so far and how does the current start reflect your expectations for Miami this season? Well, people expected us to dominate, and that's exactly what we're doing. 2. How satisfied are you with your player’s start to this season? What are your expectations as the season rolls on? Very happy. I don't expect to go much over PPG this season, so I would be happy with even 70 points. 3. A lot has been said about Miami as the Evil, the Heels of the M. Ten games in, how do you feel about that perception now? They hate us 'cause they 'aint us. Plain and simple. I accept it. 4. To bridge into the last few questions here; What part of your player’s game are you most focused on aside from SC and DF? I need to get my ST up, but I like being pretty even overall. 5. If you could pick one skill that could be more effective in the sim, what would it be? We need a partying (PT) stat. Lamb would have to be 99 in that ASAP. 6. With 16 teams in the VHL and 12 in the M, there’s plenty of space for more new members. With what took place with recruitment recently, what suggestions would you give to the recruiters of this league on how to attract new faces? Just mass recruiting. Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, hell, let's get an official VHL TikTok.
  7. ok that's pretty minty fresh?
  8. Over the last 2 seasons or so, a number of players in the Eastside Hockey Manager (EHM) community have come over and become VHL regulars. I have decided to select a few that I am fairly close with, plus first gens (excluding 1, sorry Eno and Chace) and do a "highlight" of sorts on them. 1. (S72) Liam Flaten - D @flatl99 D.C. Dragons (VHL) While Flaten one of the only ones here that joined VHL before me, he was the main one that sparked my interest in joining by sharing his early days in the league. He has been a steady TPE earner, and after a monster season in the VHLM with Minnesota (111 points), has since graduated to the VHL with DC, and has recently started his rookie campaign with the franchise that took him 16th overall. Despite recently leaving EHM, his impact was felt in SHA (league ran by me) winning a cup in 2021-22 with Vancouver. 2. (S73) Oh Sens - RW @osens Miami Marauders (VHLM) Drafted to the same Miami team as I was in S72, osens and I have become sort of a "dynamic duo", both on the ice and in the locker room. Our TPE growth together has been fast and steady, hitting the VHLM 250 cap just after the deadline. His strong 2-way play will be a big help to any team, and I'm happy to be teammates with him. Maybe we will see a VHL reunion between us one day, but for now osens is headed to Helsinki next season, and should have quite the bank to have a good VHL rookie campaign. 3. (S73) Florent Vericel - LW @dart Saskatoon Wild (VHLM) Potentially one of the most shit-disturbing 1st-gen players in all of the VHL, dart is the one who introduced me to the world of online EHM. After being, as he would say, "underutilized" in Miami as a Free Agent signing, dart has again come alive and expects to be solidly earning TPE with Saskatoon. All signs seem to point to dart eventually being a VHL regular, in which the Vancouver Wolves took a chance on him. Love him or hate him, dart is a beauty, both in VHL and EHM. 4. (S74) Chris Foley - C @Firekiss Mexico City Kings (VHLM) A recent joiner who was quickly signed to Mexico City, Foley is a hilarious and overall great guy with a great work ethic and unmatched one-liners. Once he gets going I expect Foley to be a regular earner, and his solid start to the VHLM season with 2 points in 2 games is just the beginning of what Foley can bring to the table. 5. (S74) Theodore Hoffman - C @snackhero Yukon Rush (VHLM) Another S74 gen is snackhero, with his young C Theodore Hoffman. Again, another player that once he learns the ropes, should be a solid earner. Snackhero is a good piece to add to a rebuilding Yukon, who should grow together and look to compete in the coming seasons. Just let him know that I'm probably not trading Eichel. 6. (S74) Nathaniel N - D @NathanN San Diego Marlins (VHLM) Nathan is the final player on this list. While he is not exactly new to VHL, having a player in S64, he has been re-born and committed himself to getting back to the VHL with his new player. Looking like a very solid earner, I expect him to be on VHL teams radar for the upcoming draft. Nathan has also won a cup in the aforementioned SHA, winning in 2022-23 with Tampa. An overall great guy, I would love to be teammates with him. Maybe one day in the VHL, but only time will tell.
  9. Florent Vericel - @dart Please reply and say "Confirmed" to show I recruited you.
  10. Theodore Hoffman - @snackhero Please reply and say "Confirmed" to show I recruited you.
  11. 1. At the start of the season, everyone is always so optimistic! What is your individual goal for S73? 40 goals and 100 points. Even if I don't, I expect 25 G and 60 points out of myself at the BARE minimum. 2. But, hockey isn't an individual sport. What are your S73 expectations for Miami? We're winning it all baby. Perfect group of guys, and a poop ton of TPE all around. I'm optimistic, baby. 3. Lots of VHLM pundits have labelled the S73 Marauders as a "heel" team, the supervillain that you love to hate and hate to love. Will you embrace the bad-boy reputation our team has earned this season, or did you prefer the underdog role we had last season? Honestly, I prefer the underdog. It's easier to perform with no pressure at all than with it all on your shoulders. 4. Do you think you'll still be in a Marauder uniform at the end of the regular season? I should be. If not, well, I will be PISSED. Marauder born and bred. 5. Which team do you think will be our VHLM rivals this season, and why? Minnesota, since we faced (and almost beat them) last year. They should be good again. Maybe San Diego as well, another team that "won" the VHLM draft. We will see how good they are. 6. What point tasks do you enjoy doing most, and why? Probably graphics, I love working on my skills. But these press conferences are always a treat. Thanks AL!
  12. Can't wait for the season! Let's go Miami!!!!
  13. Happy birthday VHL! When I was 13, I remember getting an Xbox 360 for my birthday, and playing the shit out of Rock Band. Also biking around the city with my friends all the time. My friend also body checked me through my door to my room, which is still broken to this day.
  14. I'm not applying, but Laine would be a great choice ?
  15. With many teams coming to him before the draft, Dakota Lamb was not exactly sure where he would go. Teams like London and Calgary seemed to be the most likely spot, however there was not 1 team that Lamb could count out. He knew that he wasn't exactly the most skilled player in the draft, but his work ethic and willingness to get better he felt propelled him higher in the draft. "Late 1st round, early 2nd round", he thought to himself. But from the moment the draft started, he was nervous. He could go anywhere. Whenever a new team went on the clock, he imagined what it would be like to play for that team. He saw his newest potential teammate, Patrik Laine, go to Helsinki at 9th. And then Warsaw was on the clock. Warsaw is a new expansion team, who came out of nowhere. With many teams coming to Lamb weeks before the draft, it was that very day that Warsaw had come to Lamb for a pre-draft interview. He must've hit it out of the park in that interview, because the next thing Lamb knew... "With the 10th overall pick in the S73 VHL Entry Draft, the Warsaw Predators are proud to select, from the Miami Marauders..." There were so many of us. Lamb didn't expect to go before other Marauder 1st rounders such as Kosmo Kramerev, Andre LeBastard, or Wolf Stansson. However his heart was racing. "DAKOTA LAMB!" He was overjoyed. He hugged his parents and close friends, happy to be selected this high in the draft. And to a team where he can see himself doing great things, on a clean slate expansion team, just like he did with Miami. He is a Warsaw Predator loud and proud. Although he is spending this year in the VHLM again with Miami, this is the start of something great between Lamb and Warsaw. Side Note: GM Muff was proud of his pick, claiming after the draft was over that his pick of "Derek Lamb" was the steal of the draft. I'll take it.
