  1. I'm not sure who on the PT staff isn't doing what you just described? Honestly, most if not all of us review things in the exact same way that we graded them, just without the number. I can't speak for the MS side but I know the "Look" category in GFX was the only one that ever got more than 5 words anyway so reviewing is really the exact same thing without adding "I can see the effort here" for effort and "yup" for creativity as most people did. Honestly because I save time not having to copy and template in, decide a specific score for each section, and do the math (not that it was hard) I find I can give better reviews than I did with grades because I'm solely focuses on the piece at hand rather than the grading template and being worried if my grade is deemed fair; both on its own and in relation to other grades.
  2. Gotta love the anti-vaxxer view of cause and effect relationships haha
  3. How would making people wait for grades make things more active? I think we have found that people are more likely to do PT's when they have a guarantee of points.
  4. That depends on the customer. A lot of the ones I've found just want to vent their frustration at anyone, regardless of if the person has control of it or not. Cashiers usually get the brunt of price issues for example even though they have literally the lowest amount of influence. No amount of telling customers that we have no control over things will get them to accept that head office does whatever it wants. What I did find often worked though was to blame the technology. A lot of times our cashes could do basically anything if you have the authorization (which I did) including things that we were supposed to do. For example, a return can only be put on the same payment method that was used (doesn't need to be the same card, just the same type so credit can't get a cash refund). People liked to argue this one with us so I usually just told them that the system doesn't offer us any other option (showing them on the screen that the options were greyed out). Thing is, I could press 3 keys and change that but I wasn't supposed to and they didn't need to know it haha. People are often more okay with blaming technology than blaming the cashier running it. Plus it doesn't pass the blame onto anyone else.
  5. That would at least be more reasonable. 3 would at least allow PT Staff to hit the cap with a PT and their job rather than requiring something else on the side like VHL this week or an article.
  6. This is part of what I'm trying to figure out, when did this come into play? I was never upset at Kendrick for enforcing the rules, that's fine and is his job, but when did this rule show up and why? It definitely hasn't always been the case hat you could only claim 2 per week. I k ow I used to claim 3-4 if I could get a lot done and it was fine. Why is it suddenly not? Like I said, putting a limit on it just kills any incentive to do more than what's required for 2 TPE because the points will go nowhere unless I choose not to do my job. @Kendrickas I said, I'm not upset at you for enforcing the rules but I am curious if you might be able to pinpoint the time when it went into place. Graders, both head and non, have clearly changed since then but you've remained stable so there must be some point that you were told to start enforcing this.
  7. Great...so in an attempt to make my life easier I instead kept the same regulations in place regarding the limit but doubled the work requirement to hit that limit? This is what I get for voicing an opinion I suppose.
  8. Claim - Jakab Holik
  9. If anyone wants to test this out feel free to stop by my stream starting in a couple of minutes. @Draper can embed it here if we want the full testing experience. https://www.twitch.tv/sharpe_gaming
  10. So a suggestion that doesn’t directly relate to the major problem of the board at the current time should be immediately dismissed? Last I checked my GFX never receive more than the review posts anyway so I hardly think it would kill all activity on the site. This forum is for suggestions, that’s what this is. I’m not going to hide every suggestion I have away in PM’s with the blue team; the point is discussion. If for nothing else than to establish why this rule exists and when it was established. I believe I made that clear in my first post. I’m not sure what I did to piss you off so much but I don’t appreciate this “fuck off” attitude that you’re deciding to give me. This was a reasonable suggestion, nothing more. I haven’t threatened to stop grading (sound familiar) or leave the board or anything ridiculous if it doesn’t happen; I simply wanted to bring up something that I think is a current issue. Sorry if my bringing you into the discussion was taken as an assault.
  11. Look at your mentions though. I was simply bringing you into the conversation because you seemed to have information on the matter that those of us involved didn’t have since no one up to that point could even pinpoint when this regulation came in. I never said anything derogatory toward you or said you shouldn’t have been doing it; I’m not sure how you seem to be taking it that way. Is it the same on any job though? This is what the GFX grader application says: That says NOTHING about a limit on the amount you can get per week. So no, we weren’t told going into it the exact amount we were going to be paid. If the limit is going to continue to be enforced, so be it, but it should be made clear. I will say that yes, things will go unreviewed for awhile and that is because we need to get more GFX guys in here since we can’t seem to keep a constant staff. However that does not mean every single member of the PT staff is unmotivated. I review 95% of the items that are posted and have been doing so for months yet you come in here and tell me that I’m unmotivated and just crying for handouts. And seriously, stop bringing up the fucking FIGA. It’s gone, you killed it, it’s over. I know damn well how you felt about it and I would be AMAZED if you could shown me how that extra 1-2 TPE per season really made my players drastically better than anyone else’s. This topic has nothing to do with that so continuously bringing it up is just being done to try and make me look whiny which is far from what I’m trying to do.
  12. Why are you getting so defensive and saying I’m crying foul at you? I only brought you up in the first place because you were the first to point it out (that I knew of) and my response above was simply trying to haver a discussion regarding your points. I was never attacking you and yet now you’re getting defensive as if I’ve done something massively wrong. It’s like any suggestion that graders make are automatically taking shots at you which is ridiculous since you seem to be the one firing shots in here. You are flat out claiming that I’m calling these things “your issue” when I NEVER said that you should have been allowing it or even implied I had a problem with you at all. Whomever said graders aren’t motivated BTW? Based off Victor telling me flat out to just grade for the 2 TPE and then stop apparently my motivation is too high for what the job entails. I’m not asking for a handout here, I’m asking to be allowed to claim TPE on the work I’m doing rather than have it sit there doing me no good. As I see it my options are either not do my work so that the work I’ve already done gets me something or slow down the amount of work I do to fall under the limit. This isn’t a motivation problem whatsoever. I actually didn’t know going into it that the cap was there, neither did a lot of people based off this thread and there was DEFINITELY a time when that cap either didn’t exist or wasn’t enforced. Lastly, that “damn bonus” is gone, not that it was ever much of anything to start, so you can quit bringing it up. I’ve seen you “cry foul” on behalf of the updaters more than the PT staff have done anything.
  13. It's auto 6 but I k ow that people still take our feedback to help gem in the future. I know I hate posting something and not seeing reviews for over 2 weeks so I'm sure others do as well. You can claim it but it's still nice to have. Keep in mind to, there's no real discussion with GFX like MS' have. Also, I agree that some reviews are way too short for the pay which is why I do my best to give longer ones. When I see 30+ reviews to do they shorten up but usually I try to go through all the major points of a sit in my reviews.
  14. You were a lot luckier than me haha. I didn't have many customers say it specifically but constantly had people acting as if they had the belief that they could do whatever they wanted and get away with it regardless of the rules of the store.
  15. Almost nowhere does, the problem is that customers have a tendency to think that it always applies anyway.
  16. I'd do it. Been enjoying streaming more than GFX lately haha
  17. Thing is though, all jobs are not created equal. You knew going into updating that you have x amount of players to update and you get paid y amount to do it. With reviews we have varying levels of work depending on the week and we get paid depending on how much we do. So long as you update you get paid the same amount. If I review 4 things I get paid differently than if I review 12 things. It's true that no other job allows for the ability to go and fill in TPE but that's because all the other jobs have a set pay for a set amount of work. That rigidity doesn't make sense with the PT staff since our pay is fluid depending on how much we do. As it stands putting a limit on it basically tells us "you got 8 reviews done, you might as well stop since you aren't getting paid anything more anyway." and the ability to bank those extra reviews just says "hey look, you can slack off for 2 weeks and let things fall behind." I can either do all the work that's needed every week and bank a bunch of TPE I will never be able to use OR slack off 8 reviews in and have things sit forever. If we remove the limit we get the best of both worlds; everything gets graded in a good amount of time and PT staff are motivated to do more.
  18. I was just pointing out that even amongst the people who SHOULD know of such a rule or why it exists there is confusion. Further reason it should simply be abolished. As Phil said, there are no real benefits of it.
  19. Honestly a decent computer and a twitch account is pretty much all that's needed. A nice webcam and microphone are nice but even built in ones will get the job done in a pinch. I use my iMac's webcam (it's at least still HD) and my headset's microphone and the quality isn't too bad. Another thought with this to, having VHL streamers wouldn't just have to be for games either. I know @boubabi has already done live sigs before so stuff like that is also doable.
  20. I sorta see it as like podcasts but more interactive. With podcasts we already have people who go through lists of questions from members and answer them; this could be the same sorta concept but with a more immediate response and more things to look at. If you don't like the game they are playing, you can just leave it on in the BG and then it's basically just a podcast anyway. The Official Video Game discussion thread gets quite a bit of traction so I think having a GFX style section of the site devoted to games discussion, live streams, videos, etc could really thrive well here and give people a reason to stick around for more than just PT's. Obviously some setups are much more complicated so not everyone could do it easily but even the consoles themselves can do basic live streaming now so I think most people who would want to do this wouldn't have much trouble doing so.
  21. TBH when I was in the Euro conference I know I claimed 3-4 on certain weeks and @brovy never said anything but apparently @Kendrick has brought it up before to @DollarAndADream. The fact that even the updaters don't seem to agree on it is really a case for the "where the fuck did this come from" question.
  22. Yeah, that's what I thought it was and that has been removed now anyway. This suggestion of course isn't asking for anything uncapped, just a different way to earn the 9 TPE/week for doing something I'm already doing anyway.
  23. Made an actual discussion topic for the matter so that we can stop highjacking this one.
  24. From that comment on we kinda highjacked the thread so I thought I would make an actual topic for this. Who would potential be interested in seeing a twitch or game or video section setup on the site where VHL members could come and enjoy other member's live streaming. Would introduce a new aspect to the league that we haven't had before, potentially open up a new recruiting market (twitch) and give members a different way to interact with each other. Could also potentially be a PT opportunity akin to podcasts but stuff like that would obviously be flushed out later. I'm curious if this is something people would actually participate in. I know I've been enjoying streaming lately even though I don't have much of an audience and I think it could be kinda fun to stream and have VHL discussion and members present at the same time. @Draper proved the embedding of both the chat and the player is possible with a few tweaks and @tfong came up with an idea for a centralized hub of VHL streamers of sorts. I think it could be a cool idea for the VHL and open up some new doors for us. Plus stuff like the draft lotto and live sims would have a natural home.
  25. Yeah, it has always done that, even back in the IF days; not sure how much damage could actually be done with it though. Maybe if we were really worried we could make a group called like "VHL Streamer" or something and only turn it on for them. Would at least allow you to control who can and cannot do it on a member by member basis.
