  1. Honestly a decent computer and a twitch account is pretty much all that's needed. A nice webcam and microphone are nice but even built in ones will get the job done in a pinch. I use my iMac's webcam (it's at least still HD) and my headset's microphone and the quality isn't too bad. Another thought with this to, having VHL streamers wouldn't just have to be for games either. I know @boubabi has already done live sigs before so stuff like that is also doable.
  2. I sorta see it as like podcasts but more interactive. With podcasts we already have people who go through lists of questions from members and answer them; this could be the same sorta concept but with a more immediate response and more things to look at. If you don't like the game they are playing, you can just leave it on in the BG and then it's basically just a podcast anyway. The Official Video Game discussion thread gets quite a bit of traction so I think having a GFX style section of the site devoted to games discussion, live streams, videos, etc could really thrive well here and give people a reason to stick around for more than just PT's. Obviously some setups are much more complicated so not everyone could do it easily but even the consoles themselves can do basic live streaming now so I think most people who would want to do this wouldn't have much trouble doing so.
  3. TBH when I was in the Euro conference I know I claimed 3-4 on certain weeks and @brovy never said anything but apparently @Kendrick has brought it up before to @DollarAndADream. The fact that even the updaters don't seem to agree on it is really a case for the "where the fuck did this come from" question.
  4. Yeah, that's what I thought it was and that has been removed now anyway. This suggestion of course isn't asking for anything uncapped, just a different way to earn the 9 TPE/week for doing something I'm already doing anyway.
  5. Made an actual discussion topic for the matter so that we can stop highjacking this one.
  6. From that comment on we kinda highjacked the thread so I thought I would make an actual topic for this. Who would potential be interested in seeing a twitch or game or video section setup on the site where VHL members could come and enjoy other member's live streaming. Would introduce a new aspect to the league that we haven't had before, potentially open up a new recruiting market (twitch) and give members a different way to interact with each other. Could also potentially be a PT opportunity akin to podcasts but stuff like that would obviously be flushed out later. I'm curious if this is something people would actually participate in. I know I've been enjoying streaming lately even though I don't have much of an audience and I think it could be kinda fun to stream and have VHL discussion and members present at the same time. @Draper proved the embedding of both the chat and the player is possible with a few tweaks and @tfong came up with an idea for a centralized hub of VHL streamers of sorts. I think it could be a cool idea for the VHL and open up some new doors for us. Plus stuff like the draft lotto and live sims would have a natural home.
  7. Yeah, it has always done that, even back in the IF days; not sure how much damage could actually be done with it though. Maybe if we were really worried we could make a group called like "VHL Streamer" or something and only turn it on for them. Would at least allow you to control who can and cannot do it on a member by member basis.
  8. There we go. If we had those posted next to each other (or at least one on top of the other) we could completely do this. Again, I don't know how many people would be interested but it's definitely a thing that's possible.
  9. I had a feeling it would be something like that. Old IF boards had something in the user groups about being ale to use a certain kind of code (I don't recall the exact wording) and you could turn it on with a group by group basis. Is that possible here perhaps if this is a feature people are in fact interested in?
  10. So obviously some groups have the ability to post code and others don't? Out of curiosity, does the chat code also work? <iframe src="https://www.twitch.tv/supermcgamer/chat?popout=" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" height="500" width="350"></iframe> Could we potentially turn this on for everyone?
  11. Twitch has an embedding code for both the player and the chat so it SHOULD be possible so long as we can use code. I don't think it works though, case in point: <iframe src="https://player.twitch.tv/?channel=supermcgamer" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" height="378" width="620"></iframe><a href="https://www.twitch.tv/supermcgamer?tt_medium=live_embed&tt_content=text_link" style="padding:2px 0px 4px; display:block; width:345px; font-weight:normal; font-size:10px;text-decoration:underline;">Watch live video from SuperMCGamer on www.twitch.tv</a> Clearly that's not what we want but it is the embedding code. Is there someway to allow that code to be posted properly?
  12. Only problem with that is that t gets easily crowded out with discussion. Maybe a video game forum similar to the GFX forums? Have sub forums for discussion, streams, videos, etc. Can twitch actually be embedded on this site? I've never specifically tried. Edit: I tested, youtube embeds automatically but twitch does not. Is there perhaps a way to add twitch embedding? Also, a potential issue even if we can, would twitch chat go with it? I guess you could pop out the chat and then bring it over to the VHL but still. Interaction would be the key here and if the streamer needs to keep refreshing the VHL it would make interaction kinda tricky.
  13. An area sorta like the GFX portfolios but for people to share twitch links and stuff perhaps? I'm into the concept although not sure how many people would be necessarily set up to do so.
  14. What exactly do you mean? I know we can create communities on PS4 and Steam (Not sure about XB1) where people could see what others are playing and maybe join them, that could've a decent start in the gaming front at least.
  15. Exactly what makes it better; kick people right in the nostalgia.
  16. Twitch (I may leave a link in the game discussion thread tonight) and Conker's Bad Fur Day tonight but it varies. CoD sometimes, I've streamed portal 2, gonna get CS: GO to stream that (never played it before so should be nice and terrible).
  17. You sure? It's Conker's Bad Fur Day haha I mean I am pretty terrible at it but Conker's is always fun.
  18. Clearly everyone just needs to come hang out with me when I live stream, there's going to be one tonight haha
  19. Proof that LR's at the top are evil; they should be put back to the bottom where they belong I think we need to find ways to interact with each other outside of the VHL, as odd as that sounds. Back in the day I used to chat up Scotty or Zimmers on MSN and play CoD with McNeil and talk about VHL stuff; that doesn't seem to exist anymore; or maybe I'm just out of touch now. It seems counter-productive since it takes people off the forum but it also leads to VHL related discussions and interest even when we're away which overall keeps interest in the league high.
  20. Yet @DollarAndADream didn't create it; I believe @Kendrick actually informed him about it. If this limit exists shouldn't we at least be able to track down where the heck it came from haha
  21. 4 is a relatively fair number (compared to the 8 it used to be) although a slight increase I don't think could actually hurt; as much as I hate saying it. I think more accurately though the MS guys shouldn't need quite as much. it doesn't take THAT long to read 600 words but it definitely takes longer than analyzing a GFX does. If 4-5 is fair for 1 TPE for GFX than I think 2-3 should be fair for MS. With that said, I still don't think we should have a limit here. If we do I don't think it should be 2, maybe even just increasing it to say 4 would be better. 2 isn't even enough that a PT and grading can get the full 9 TPE a week.
  22. For awhile I was doing that too with no issues but apparently this is a thing. Why should we just be happy with banking it though? I spent over an hour this morning grading when I could have spent far less time to claim the same 2 TPE. Assuming I do my job every week the rest of that banked stuff will just sit there being useless so it's not different than losing it really. PT staff get paid based on what we do which is fair but we are getting paid far less than what we are actually doing a lot of the time because 3/4 of it is going into banked pay.
  23. I think that was just FIGA, this was put in before this season which is when that all went down. I don't see how updaters would have a concern with fairness really. They get paid a set fee for a set amount of work. Our pay is fluid depending on the amount of work we do. With this limit the pay is basically 2 TPE regardless of how much we actually do though which incentivizes to either not grade as much (get to 2 TPE and then stop) or go on binges and then take huge breaks.
  24. I always need more questions haha Although I will try to answer the ones from before that never got answered if they are still relevant. So obvious stuff about like my draft and shit I won't answer but the there stuff up there about me and things I will get to.
  25. Exactly! In any given week I can usually get at least enough reviews for 3 TPE so even if I just wanted to do a PT and then still get max without doing an article I should be able to do that with the reviews that I've done. What's odd is that I know I used to do this. I'm not even sure when exactly this 2 TPE thing showed up ( I only heard about it a little while ago).
