  4. Sorry it took so dang long (I'll take the blame), but here is the thread where I finally make those donations from this poll: So I decided that I'd just round up and make it a nice even number. $300 to my local animal shelter, North Shore Animal League and... $300 to the American Cancer Society! So some notes on why I picked these two. 1. They were the two most popular in the poll. 2. North Shore Animal League is the shelter where I got my second dog, Milton. He was the best dog anyone could ask for. Unfortunately during the holiday season 2019 we had to put him down because of an aggressive cancer in his lungs. It was absolutely heartbreaking. What was supposed to be a simple look around the shelter one day turned into the best friend anyone could ask for. I still miss you Milton 3. American Cancer Society because of cancer in the family. I lost my grandpa to cancer when I was just a little kid. Seeing my mom break down telling me was horrible. It's amazing how fast it was when I visited him in the hospital to the news. On top of that a few years ago my dad was diagnosed with Cancer. I was working the night shift at my job, so when I came home at midnight with my mom and sister both up crying I knew something was wrong. Life isn't fair. I hope no one has to experience what I went through those few nights. Currently he is being monitored every few months. They are keeping an eye on it to make sure it's still in a good spot. I knew I had to chose ACS after these experiences. So there you have it. What was supposed to be ~$500 turned into $600. I hope this inspires someone to make a small donation somewhere. Have a great day VHL

  8. I'll apply. I'm very familiar with the Google suite so I've used Google forms in the past. I've used it back in college to get survey results and used Google sheets to prepare a presentation based on those results.

  12. Welcome to the Minnesota Storm Weekly Recap! We will be going over what is happening to the Storm and how they are doing in the VHLM each week. Week 1 has the start of the VHLM, so lots of excitement about the first few games. VHLM Dispersal Draft: Trade Minnesota Receives: S79 MIA 6th Miami Receive: S80 MIN 6th Comment: Just a simple pick swap. We were looking to get more picks for this season. Draft Picks: R2 Pick 22: Logain Ablar R5 Pick 58: Alexei Volkov R5 Pick 60: I Mine Crypto R6 Pick 61: Jeremy D R6 Pick 70: Emi Spector R7 Pick 82: Buddy Elf Comment: We didn't have a lot to work with this draft. Fortunately, we were able to grab a familiar face back in Crypto. We are happy with the players we have selected. Waiver Additions: Minnesota Storm welcomes Nayt Bedard to the team! Minnesota Storm also welcomes Finn Davis to the team! Comment: Bedard and Davis are two great players that were picked up from waivers. They are already making a huge impact on the scoresheet. We can't wait to see how they will grow throughout the season. Overall Record: In 6 games played we are 2-4-0 for 4 points which results in being last in our conference. A slow start, but we aren't going to go quietly. Caleb Gaudette leads the team in points and is tied in goals with Finn Davis. Player of the week: Caleb Gaudette - 6GP - 5 Goals - 6 Assists - 11 Points Great job Gaudette! See you all next week for another edition of the Minnesota Storm Weekly Recap!
  13. Review: Wow. This is a cool championship banner. I wouldn't say this is a fail. Obviously, you worked hard on this and I think you could learn from this and possibly make the next championship banner next season. Positives: + I love how you used multiple photos to really get a feel for different moments for the team. Including the goalie for Warsaw was a great touch. + The different generations for the Warsaw side is a neat detail. + You took the time to do logo replacements on almost all of the jerseys. That's dedication + Having the black and white pictures while having the cup moment color really makes it stand out. + Using the team colors for the text is awesome and a great style choice. + The name replacements are also a great detail to include. Negatives: - Some of the logo replacements don't feel natural. They feel a bit too blurred and stand out. One of the logos on the jerseys below Season 78 isn't covered by the Yukon logo. - Layering the Warsaw cup picture with a picture of McDavid in the background is a bit odd. - Personally, it seems a bit busy overall. All the pictures on top is my main concern. Honestly, this is a great banner. Like I said I wouldn't say this is a fail. This is a great stepping stone to get your style and improve on it. Keep up the good work. Here's hoping you get that Season 79 championship banner! 7/10
  14. Review: Great work! This is incredible. Positives: + That logo replacement on the jersey looks so realistic. It blends so well that I can't tell if that isn't a real jersey. + The sparks / distortion on the jersey gives the overall image that eye catching pop. + I love how big the player name is and how much it stands out. The Riga colors are a nice touch too. Negatives: - My only gripe is that "Riga Reign" is just a bit too transparent. I think it should be a bit more solid. Maybe even move it to the bottom left corner so it doesn't stand out too much. Overall this is amazing. I think the positives outweigh the negatives so I can't give this anything but a 9.75/10. Excellent work!
  15. Season 79 has started and Justin Lose hopes that his off-ice training has helped him reach his peak. He also recently got back from the WC representing the USA. Team USA had secured gold in that event which was the first time Lose has won anything in his VHL career. Training camp also passed which held some intense training for this upcoming season. Some notes about the camp will be talked about later. When the training camp concluded we were able to chat with Justin Lose on some topics. "It's surreal. The team we had for the WC was just insane. The talent pool was very deep and I'm grateful that I got the call to be included. Getting gold was just the cherry on top too. I made a lot of friends from that team and I can't wait to hopefully play with them again soon." - Lose on getting gold In the off-season Lose met up with some of his current and former teammates to do some training. A small reunion with Addison McLaren was also included since he was traded to the Toronto Legion last season. "It was nice to see [Addison] McLaren again. It felt like he never left after doing some practice together. I'm sure he's going to kill it in Toronto with how hard he was training with us today." - Lose on McLaren reunion. Lose, coming off career highs, is looking to improve even more. Lose is in the second year of his 3 year contract. After this contract is up he will become an Unrestricted Free Agent. Lose has commented that he isn't worried about his contract status yet. "I'm not focusing on the contract yet. I saw that Cabe McJake got a huge contract, so I'll probably use that as a reference when my current deal expires. Right now, I'm focused on getting wins with the Riga squad." - Lose on his contract We also chatted about the draft and how the team improved. The biggest addition was Zamboni Driver in his last season being traded to Riga before the draft. After the draft, Riga welcomed the future and with an impressive training camp, Erlantz Jokinen has already cracked the lineup. Other rookies include Anze Miklavz and Milk Jugs. "We are so excited to bring in Zamboni Driver to fill in the net. After the surprise retirement of Harvey, the GM worked so hard to find a replacement fast. I'm relieved that Driver was brought in since he is a veteran chasing a cup in his final season. Also, I think the GM did a great job with our future by drafting Erlantz Jokinen and Donny Carter. The future is bright for Riga and I hope we can get a cup with this core." - Lose on the draft Riga Reign and Justin Lose are off to a good start to the season. With only 4 games played they are sitting 2nd in the conference behind the Malmo Nighthawks. In 4 games Lose has 3 points with 1 goal and 2 assists.
